We prove that a finite dimensional algebra $Λ$ is $τ-$tilting finite if and only if all the bricks over $Λ$ are finitely generated. This is obtained as a consequence of the existence of proper locally maximal torsion classes for $τ-$tilting infinite algebras.
According to the Auslander's formula one way of studying an abelian category ${\mathcal{C}}$ is to study ${\rm mod}\mbox{-}{\mathcal{C}}$, that has nicer homological properties than ${\mathcal{C}}$, and then translate the results back to ${\mathcal{C}}$. Recently Krause gave a derived version of this formula and thus renewed the subject. This paper contains a detailed study of various versions of Auslander formula including the versions for all modules and for unbounded derived categories. We apply them to include some results concerning recollements of triangulated categories.
A relative version of Auslander's formula with respect to a contravariantly finite subcategory will be given. Dual version will be treated. Several examples and applications will be provided. In particular, we show that under certain circumstances, if relative Auslander algebras of artin algebras $Λ$ and $Λ'$ are Morita equivalent, then $Λ$ and $Λ'$ are also Morita equivalent.
For a finite group $G$ and an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$ for any indecomposable finite dimensional $kG$-module $M$ with vertex $D$ and a subgroup $H$ of $G$ containing $N_G(D)$ there is a unique indecomposable $kH$-module $N$ of vertex $D$ being a direct summand of the restriction of $M$ to $H$. This correspondence, called Green correspondence, was generalised by Auslander-Kleiner to the situation of pairs of adjoint functors between additive categories. In the original situation of group rings Carlson-Peng-Wheeler proved that this correspondence is actually restric…
This paper has been withdrawn by the authors because it has been combined with "Higher Auslander Algebras Admitting Trivial Maximal Orthogonal Subcategories" (arXiv:0903.0761) together. Please see the new version of the latter paper for the details.
These notes are an expanded version of my talk at the ICRA 2018 in Prague, Czech Republic; they are based on joint work with Tobias Dyckerhoff and Tashi Walde. In them we relate Iyama's higher Auslander algebras of type $\mathbb{A}$ to Eilenberg--Mac Lane spaces in algebraic topology and to higher-dimensional versions of the Waldhausen $\operatorname{S}$-construction from algebraic $K$-theory.
In this paper, we construct a version of Auslander-Reiten sequences for the $K(n)$-local stable homotopy category. In particular, the role of the Auslander-Reiten translation is played by the local Brown-Comenetz duality functor. As an application, we produce counterexamples to the $K(n)$-local generating hypothesis for all heights $n>0$ and all primes. Furthermore, our methods apply to other triangulated categories, as for example the derived category of quasi-coherent sheaves on a smooth projective scheme.
We revisit faithfully balanced modules. These are faithful modules having the double centralizer property. For finite-dimensional algebras our main tool is the category ${\rm cogen}^1(M)$ of modules with a copresentation by summands of finite sums of $M$ on which ${\rm Hom}(-,M)$ is exact. For a faithfully balanced module $M$ the functor ${\rm Hom}(-,M)$ is a duality on these categories - for cotilting modules this is the Brenner-Butler theorem. We also study new classes of faithfully balanced modules combining cogenerators and cotilting modules. Then we turn to relative homological algebra in…
We consider maximal non-$l$-intertwining collections, which are a higher-dimensional version of the maximal non-crossing collections which give clusters of Plücker coordinates in the Grassmannian coordinate ring, as described by Scott. We extend a method of Scott for producing such collections, which are related to tensor products of higher Auslander algebras of type $A$. We show that a higher preprojective algebra of the tensor product of two $d$-representation-finite algebras has a $d$-precluster-tilting subcategory. Finally we relate mutations of these collections to a form of tilting for t…
We prove that for a left and right Noetherian ring $R$, $_RR$ satisfies the Auslander condition if and only if so does every flat left $R$-module, if and only if the injective dimension of the $i$th term in a minimal flat resolution of any injective left $R$-module is at most $i-1$ for any $i \geq 1$, if and only if the flat (resp. injective) dimension of the $i$th term in a minimal injective coresolution (resp. flat resolution) of any left $R$-module $M$ is at most the flat (resp. injective) dimension of $M$ plus $i-1$ for any $i \geq 1$, if and only if the flat (resp. injective) dimension of…
We develop a novel combinatorial perspective on the higher Auslander algebras of type $\mathbb{A}$, a family of algebras arising in the context of Iyama's higher Auslander-Reiten theory. This approach reveals interesting simplicial structures hidden within the representation theory of these algebras and establishes direct connections to Eilenberg-MacLane spaces and higher-dimensional versions of Waldhausen's $\operatorname{S}_\bullet$-construction in algebraic $K$-theory. As an application of our techniques we provide a generalisation of the higher reflection functors of Iyama and Oppermann to…
Using a relative version of Auslander's formula, we give a functorial approach to show that the bounded derived category of every Artin algebra admits a categorical resolution. This, in particular, implies that the bounded derived categories of Artin algebras of finite global dimension determine bounded derived categories of all Artin algebras. Hence, this paper can be considered as a typical application of functor categories, introduced in representation theory by Auslander, to categorical resolutions.
Auslander and Kleiner proved in 1994 an abstract version of Green correspondence for pairs of adjoint functors between three categories. They produce additive quotients of certain subcategories giving the classical Green correspondence in the special setting of modular representation theory. Carlson, Peng and Wheeler showed in 1998 that Green correspondence in the classical setting of modular representation theory is actually an equivalence between triangulated categories with respect to a non standard triangulated structure. In the present note we first define and study a version of relative …
The preprints arXiv:math/0610728 and arXiv:math/0612451 are withdrawn due to a problem with Theorem 2.2 in arXiv:math/0610728. The theorem claims that for certain triangulated categories with finitely many indecomposable objects, the Calabi-Yau dimension can be computed combinatorially, by finding the smallest d for which the Serre functor and the d'th power of the suspension functor have the same action on the Auslander-Reiten quiver. This is false, and we are grateful to Alex Dugas for pointing out a counterexample; see Section 5 of his paper arXiv:math/0808.1311 for more details. Unfortunat…

We study Serre structures on categories enriched in pivotal monoidal categories, and apply this to study Serre structures on two types of graded k-linear categories: categories with group actions and categories with graded hom spaces. We check that Serre structures are preserved by taking orbit categories and skew group categories, and describe the relationship with graded Frobenius algebras. Using a formal version of Auslander-Reiten translations, we show that the derived category of a d-representation finite algebra is fractionally Calabi-Yau if and only if its preprojective algebra has a gr…
Let R be a Cohen-Macaulay ring and M a maximal Cohen-Macaulay R-module. Inspired by recent striking work by Iyama, Burban-Iyama-Keller-Reiten and Van den Bergh we study the question of when the endomorphism ring of M has finite global dimension via certain conditions about vanishing of $\Ext$ modules. We are able to strengthen certain results by Iyama on connections between a higher dimension version of Auslander correspondence and existence of non-commutative crepant resolutions. We also recover and extend to positive characteristics a recent Theorem by Burban-Iyama-Keller-Reiten on cluster-t…

In this paper, motivated by a $τ$-tilting version of the Brauer-Thrall Conjectures, we study general properties of band modules and their endomorphisms in the module category of a finite dimensional algebra. As an application we describe properties of torsion classes containing band modules. Furthermore, we show that a special biserial algebra is $τ$-tilting finite if and only if no band module is a brick. We also recover a criterion for the $τ$-tilting finiteness of Brauer graph algebras in terms of the Brauer graph.
We are interested in the McKay quiver $Γ(G)$ and skew group rings $A*G$, where $G$ is a finite subgroup of $\mathrm{GL}(V)$, where $V$ is a finite dimensional vector space over a field $K$, and $A$ is a $K-G$-algebra. These skew group rings appear in Auslander's version of the McKay correspondence. In the first part of this paper we consider complex reflection groups $G \subseteq \mathrm{GL}(V)$ and find a combinatorial method, making use of Young diagrams, to construct the McKay quivers for the groups $G(r,p,n)$. We first look at the case $G(1,1,n)$, which is isomorphic to the symmetric group…
