We study some estimates along the Kahler Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. Using these estimates, we show the convergence of Kahler Ricci flow directly if the $α$-invariant of the canonical class is greater than $\frac{n}{n+1}$. Applying these convergence theorems, we can give a flow proof of Calabi conjecture on such Fano manifolds. In particular, the existence of Kahler Einstein metrics on a lot of Fano surfaces can be proved by flow method. Note that this geometric conclusion (based on the same assumption) was established earlier via elliptic method by G. Tian. However, a new proof based on Kahler Ricci flow should be still interesting in its own right.
We prove the existence and uniqueness of the weak Kahler-Ricci flow on projective varieties with log terminal singularities. It is also shown that the weak Kahler-Ricci flow can be uniquely continued through divisorial contractions and flips if they exist. We then propose an analytic version of the Minimal Model Program with Ricci flow.
We prove the existence of Kahler-Einstein metric on a K-stable Fano manifold using the recent compactness result on Kahler-Ricci flows. The key ingredient is an algebro-geometric description of the asymptotic behavior of Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. This is in turn based on a general finite dimensional discussion, which is interesting in its own and could potentially apply to other problems. As one application, we relate the asymptotics of the Calabi flow on a polarized Kahler manifold to K-stability assuming bounds on geometry.
We show the properties of the blowup limits of \KRf solutions on Fano surfaces if Riemannian curvature is unbounded. As an application, on every toric Fano surface, we prove that \KRf converges to a Kähler Ricci soliton metric if the initial metric has toric symmetry. Therefore we give a new Ricci flow proof of existence of Kähler Ricci soliton metrics on toric surfaces.
We construct a canonical Hausdorff complex analytic moduli space of Fano manifolds with Kähler-Ricci solitons. This naturally enlarges the moduli space of Fano manifolds with Kähler-Einstein metrics, which was constructed by Odaka and Li-Wang-Xu. We discover a moment map picture for Kähler-Ricci solitons, and give complex analytic charts on the topological space consisting of Kähler-Ricci solitons, by studying differential geometric aspects of this infinite dimensional moment map. Some stacky words and arguments on Gromov-Hausdorff convergence help to glue them together in the holomorphic mann…
Using methods of A. Grigor'yan and L. Saloff-Coste we prove that on a manifold with a conical end the heat kernel has a Gaussian bound. This result is applied to asymptotically conical Kähler manifolds. It is a result of the author and R. Goto that a crepant resolution of a Ricci-flat Kähler cone admits a Ricci-flat Kähler metric asymptotic to the cone metric in every Kähler class. We prove the sharp rate of convergence of the metric to the cone metric. For compact Kähler classes this is the same as for the Ricci-flat ALE metrics of P. Kronheimer and D. Joyce.
We study the evolution of anticanonical line bundles along the Kähler Ricci flow. We show that under some conditions, the convergence of Kähler Ricci flow is determined by the properties of the anticanonical divisors of $M$. As examples, the Kähler Ricci flow on $M$ converges when $M$ is a Fano surface and $c_1^2(M)=1$ or $c_1^2(M)=3$. Combined with the work in \cite{CW1} and \cite{CW2}, this gives a Ricci flow proof of the Calabi conjecture on Fano surfaces with reductive automorphism groups. The original proof of this conjecture is due to Gang Tian.
Let $X$ be a compact Kähler manifold. We prove that if $X$ admits a smooth Hermitian metric $ω$ with quasi-positive second Chern-Ricci curvature $\mathrm{Ric}^{(2)}(ω)$, then $X$ is projective and rationally connected. In particular, $X$ is simply connected.
In this paper, we prove that on a Fano $\mathbf G$-manifold $(M,J)$, the Gromov-Hausdorff limit of Kähler-Ricci flow with initial metric in $2πc_1(M)$ must be a $\mathbb Q$-Fano horosymmetric variety $M_\infty$, which admits a singular Kähler-Ricci soliton. Moreover, $M_\infty$ is a limit of $\mathbb C^*$-degeneration of $M$ induced by an element in the Lie algebra of Cartan torus of $\mathbf G$. A similar result can be also proved for Kähler-Ricci flows on any Fano horosymmetric manifolds. As an application, we generalize our previous result about the type II singularity of Kähler-Ricci flows…
In this note we provide a proof of the following: Any compact KRS with positive bisectional curvature is biholomorphic to the complex projective space. As a corollary, we obtain an alternative proof of the Frankel conjecture by using the Kähler-Ricci flow.
We give a classification of all pairs (X,v) of Gorenstein del Pezzo surfaces X and vector fields v which are K-stable in the sense of Berman-Nystrom and therefore are expected to admit a Kahler-Ricci solition. Moreover, we provide some new examples of Fano threefolds admitting a Kahler-Ricci soliton.
Using $δ$-invariants and Newton--Okounkov bodies, we derive the optimal volume upper bound for Kähler manifolds with positive Ricci curvature, from which we get a new characterization of the complex projective space.
The author has proved that a crepant resolution Y of a Ricci-flat Kähler cone X admits a complete Ricci-flat Kähler metric asymptotic to the cone metric in every Kähler class in H^2_c(Y,\R). These manifolds are generalizations of the Ricci-flat ALE Kähler spaces known by the work of P. Kronheimer, D. Joyce and others. This article considers further the problem of constructing examples. We show that every 3-dimensional Gorenstein toric Kähler cone admits a crepant resolution for which the above theorem applies. This gives infinitely many examples of asymptotically conical Ricci-flat manifolds. …
We prove a uniform diameter bound for long time solutions of the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow on an $n$-dimensional projective manifold $X$ with semi-ample canonical bundle under the assumption that the Ricci curvature is uniformly bounded for all time in a fixed domain containing a fibre of $X$ over its canonical model $X_{can}$. This assumption on the Ricci curvature always holds when the Kodaira dimension of $X$ is $n$, $n-1$ or when the general fibre of $X$ over its canonical model is a complex torus. In particular, the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow converges in Gromov-Hausdorff topolopy to…
We investigate Riemannian (non-Kahler) Ricci flow solutions that develop finite-time Type-I singularities and present evidence in favor of a conjecture that parabolic rescalings at the singularities converge to singularity models that are shrinking Kahler-Ricci solitons. Specifically, the singularity model for these solutions is expected to be the "blowdown soliton" discovered in [FIK03]. Our partial results support the conjecture that the blowdown soliton is stable under Ricci flow, as well as the conjectured stability of the subspace of Kahler metrics under Ricci flow.
In this paper, we prove the existence of a Kahler Ricci soliton on any smooth Fano horospherical manifold by a study of the Kahler-Ricci flow. Indeed, we prove that the renormalized Kahler Ricci flow converges in the sense of Cheeger Gromov and that this limit is a Kahler-Ricci soliton.
We study the Kähler-Ricci flow on a class of projective bundles $\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{O}_Σ\oplus L)$ over compact Kähler-Einstein manifold $Σ^n$. Assuming the initial Kähler metric $ω_0$ admits a U(1)-invariant momentum profile, we give a criterion, characterized by the triple $(Σ, L, [ω_0])$, under which the $\mathbb{P}^1$-fiber collapses along the Kähler-Ricci flow and the projective bundle converges to $Σ$ in Gromov-Hausdorff sense. Furthermore, the Kähler-Ricci flow must have Type I singularity and is of $(\C^n \times \mathbb{P}^1)$-type. This generalizes and extends part of Song-Weinkove's…
We prove compactification theorems for some complete Kähler manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Among other things, we prove that a complete noncompact Kähler Ricci flat manifold with maximal volume growth and quadratic curvature decay is a crepant resolution of a normal affine algebraic variety. Furthermore, such affine variety degenerates in two steps to the unique metric tangent cone at infinity.
In this note, a modified Kähler-Ricci flow is introduced and studied. The main point is to show the flexibility of Kähler-Ricci flow and summarize some useful techniques.
A short proof of the convergence of the Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds admitting a Kahler-Einstein metric or a Kahler-Ricci soliton is given, using a variety of recent techniques
In this paper, we establish several sufficient and necessary conditions for the convergence of a Kähler-Ricci flow, on a Kähler manifold with positive first Chern class, to a Kähler-Einstein metric (or a shrinking Kähler-Ricci soliton).
In this paper, we study the long-term behavior of the conical Kähler-Ricci flow on Fano manifold $M$. First, based on our work of locally uniform regularity for the twisted Kähler-Ricci flows, we obtain a long-time solution to the conical Kähler-Ricci flow by limiting a sequence of these twisted flows. Second, we study the uniform Perelman's estimates of the twisted Kähler-Ricci flows. After that, we prove that the conical Kähler-Ricci flow must converge to a conical Kähler-Einstein metric if there exists one.
We investigate the limiting behavior of the unnormalized Kahler-Ricci flow on a Kahler manifold with a polarized initial Kahler metric. We prove that the Kahler-Ricci flow becomes extinct in finite time if and only if the manifold has positive first Chern class and the initial Kahler class is proportional to the first Chern class of the manifold. This proves a conjecture of Tian for the smooth solutions of the Kahler-Ricci flow.
On certain del Pezzo surfaces with large automorphism groups, it is shown that the solution to the Kähler-Ricci flow with a certain initial value converges in $C^\infty$-norm exponentially fast to a Kähler-Einstein metric. The proof is based on the method of multiplier ideal sheaves.
In this short note we announce a regularity theorem for Kähler-Ricci flow on a compact Fano manifold (Kähler manifold with positive first Chern class) and its application to the limiting behavior of Kähler-Ricci flow on Fano 3-manifolds. Moreover, we also present a partial $C^0$ estimate to the Kähler-Ricci flow under the regularity assumption, which extends previous works on Kähler-Einstein metrics and shrinking Kähler-Ricci solitons (cf. \cite{Ti90}, \cite{DoSu12}, \cite{Ti12}, \cite{PSS12}). The detailed proof will appear in \cite{TiZh13}.
We introduce the conical Kähler-Ricci flow modified by a holomorphic vector field. We construct a long-time solution of the modified conical Kähler-Ricci flow as the limit of a sequence of smooth Kähler-Ricci flows.
It is well known that the Kähler-Ricci flow on a Kähler manifold $X$ admits a long-time solution if and only if $X$ is a minimal model, i.e., the canonical line bundle $K_X$ is nef. The abundance conjecture in algebraic geometry predicts that $K_X$ must be semi-ample when $X$ is a projective minimal model. We prove that if $K_X$ is semi-ample, then the diameter is uniformly bounded for long-time solutions of the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow. Our diameter estimate combined with the scalar curvature estimate in [34] for long-time solutions of the Kähler-Ricci flow are natural extensions of Perel…
In this paper we prove that a nonflat Kähler-Ricci soliton of the Ricci flow on a complex two-dimensional Kähler manifold with nonnegative holomorphic bisectional curvature can not be of maximal volume growth.
For all complex dimensions n>=2, we construct complete Kaehler manifolds of bounded curvature and non-negative Ricci curvature whose Kaehler--Ricci evolutions immediately acquire Ricci curvature of mixed sign.
We investigate the Kahler-Ricci flow on holomorphic fiber spaces whose generic fiber is a Calabi-Yau manifold. We establish uniform metric convergence to a metric on the base, away from the singular fibers, and show that the rescaled metrics on the fibers converge to Ricci-flat Kahler metrics. This strengthens previous work of Song-Tian and others. We obtain analogous results for degenerations of Ricci-flat Kahler metrics.
In this paper, we prove that a sequence of weak almost Kähler-Ricci solitons under further suitable conditions converge to a Kähler-Ricci soliton with complex codimension of singularities at least 2 in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology. As a corollary, we show that on a Fano manifold with the modified K-energy bounded below, there exists a sequence of weak almost Kähler-Ricci solitons which converge to a Kähler-Ricci soliton with complex codimension of singularities at least 2 in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology.
In this paper we show that on a Fano manifold the convergence of the Kähler-Ricci flow to a Kähler-Einstein metric follows from the integrability of the $L^2$ norm of the Ricci potential for positive time.
In this article we study the limiting behavior of the Kähler Ricci flow on complete non-compact Kähler manifolds. We provide sufficient conditions under which a complete non-compact gradient Kähler-Ricci soliton is biholomorphic to $\ce^n$. We also discuss the uniformization conjecture by Yau \cite{Y} for complete non-compact Kähler manifolds with positive holomorphic bisectional curvature.
We show that non-collapsed Gromov-Hausdorff limits of polarized Kahler manifolds, with Ricci curvature bounded below, are normal projective varieties, and the metric singularities of the limit space are precisely given by a countable union of analytic subvarieties. This extends a fundamental result of Donaldson-Sun, in which 2-sided Ricci curvature bounds were assumed. As a basic ingredient we show that, under lower Ricci curvature bounds, almost Euclidean balls in Kahler manifolds admit good holomorphic coordinates. Further applications are integral bounds for the scalar curvature on balls, a…
In this paper, we prove that on a Fano manifold $M$ which admits a Kähler-Ricci soliton $(\om,X)$, if the initial Kähler metric $\om_{\vphi_0}$ is close to $\om$ in some weak sense, then the weak Kähler-Ricci flow exists globally and converges in Cheeger-Gromov sense. Moreover, if $\vphi_0$ is also $K_X$-invariant, then the weak modified Kähler-Ricci flow converges exponentially to a unique Kähler-Ricci soliton nearby. Especially, if the Futaki invariant vanishes, we may delete the $K_X$-invariant assumption. The methods based on the metric geometry of the space of the Kähler metrics are poten…
In this paper, we consider the twisted Kähler-Ricci soliton, and show that the existence of twisted Kähler-Ricci soliton with semi-positive twisting form is closely related to the properness of some energy functionals. We also consider the conical Kähler-Ricci soliton, and obtain some existence results. In particular, under some assumptions on the divisor and $α$-invariant, we get the properness of the modified log K-energy and the existence of conical Kähler-Ricci soliton with suitable cone angle.
We prove that, under a semi-ampleness type assumption on the twisted canonical line bundle, the conical Kähler-Ricci flow on a minimal elliptic Kähler surface converges in the sense of currents to a generalized conical Kähler-Einstein on its canonical model. Moreover, the convergence takes place smoothly outside the singular fibers and the chosen divisor.
In this paper we study a generalization of the Kahler-Ricci flow, in which the Ricci form is twisted by a closed, non-negative (1,1)-form. We show that when a twisted Kahler-Einstein metric exists, then this twisted flow converges exponentially. This generalizes a result of Perelman on the convergence of the Kahler-Ricci flow, and it builds on work of Tian-Zhu.
These notes are based on a lecture series given at the Park City Math Institute in the summer of 2013. The notes are intended as a leisurely introduction to the Kähler-Ricci flow on compact Kähler manifolds, aimed at graduate students with some background in differential geometry.
Let N_0 = C^2/H be an isolated quotient singularity with H in U (2) a finite subgroup. We show that for any Q-Gorenstein smoothings of N_0 a nearby fiber admits ALE Ricci-flat Kahler metrics in any Kahler class. Moreover, we generalize Kronheimer's results on hyperkahler 4-manifolds, by giving an explicit classification of the ALE Ricci-flat Kahler surfaces. We construct ALF Ricci-flat Kahler metrics on the above non-simply connected manifolds. These provide new examples of ALF Ricci-flat Kahler 4-manifolds, with cubic volume growth and cyclic fundamental group at infinity.
In this short note, we show that given a special Kähler-Einstein degeneration with bounded geometry, for any noncentral fiber, there exists a Kähler-Ricci flow which converges to the Kähler-Einstein metric of the central fiber. As an example, Tian's deformations \cite{Tian97} of the Mukai 3-fold admit Kähler-Ricci flows which converge to Donaldson's Kähler-Einstein metric \cite{Don08} over the Mukai 3-fold.
We study the behaviour of the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow on complete Kähler manifolds of negative holomorphic sectional curvature. We show that the flow exists for all time and converges to a Kähler-Einstein metric of negative scalar curvature, recovering a result of Wu and Yau.
In this paper, we extend the result about the existence of Kähler-Ricci soliton on toric manifold (proved by Wang and Zhy) by proving this existence on horospherical varieties using the continuity method.
We show that the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded for the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow on a Kahler manifold with semi-ample canonical bundle. In particular, the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow has long time existence if and only if the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded, for Kahler surfaces, projective manifolds of complex dimension three, and for projective manifolds of all dimensions if assuming the abundance conjecture.
We study the non Ricci flat gradient steady Kähler Ricci soliton with non-negative Ricci curvature and weak integrability condition of the scalar curvature $S$, namely $\underline{\lim}_{r\to \infty} r^{-1}\int_{B_r} S=0$, and show that it is a quotient of $Σ\times \mathbb{C}^{n-1-k}\times N^k$, where $Σ$ and $N$ denote the Hamilton's cigar soliton and some compact Kähler Ricci flat manifold respectively. As an application, we prove that any non Ricci flat gradient steady Kähler Ricci soliton with $Ric\geq 0$, together with subquadratic volume growth or $\limsup_{r\to \infty} rS<1$ must have u…
In this paper, we consider Kahler-Ricci flow on n-dimensional Kahler manifold with semi-ample canonical line bundle and 0< m:= Kod(X)<n. Such manifolds admit a Calabi-Yau fibration over its canonical model. We prove that the scalar curvature of the Kahler metric along the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow converge to -m outside the singular set of this fibration.
In this paper, we study the uniformly strong convergence of Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano manifold with varied initial metrics and smooth deformation complex structures. As an application, we prove the uniqueness of Kähler-Ricci solitons in sense of diffeomorphism orbits. The result generalizes Tian-Zhu's theorem for the uniqueness of of Kähler-Ricci solitons on a compact complex manifold, and it is also a generalization of Chen-Sun's result of for the uniqueness of of Kähler-Einstein metric orbits.
