We analyze a discretization method for solving nonlinear integral equations that contain multiple integrals. These equations include integral equations with a Volterra series, instead of a single integral term, on one side of the equation. We prove existence and uniqueness of solutions, and convergence and estimates of the order of convergence for the numerical methods of solution.
The variational iteration method is used to solve nonlinear Volterra integral equations. Two approaches are presented distinguished by the method to compute the Lagrange multiplier.
In the present paper, a Nystrom-type method for second kind Volterra integral equations is introduced and studied. The method makes use of generalized Bernstein polynomials, defined for continuous functions and based on equally spaced points. Stability and convergence are studied in the space of continuous functions, and some numerical tests illustrate the performance of the proposed approach.
In this work, a new approach has been developed to obtain numerical solution of linear Volterra type integral equations by obtaining asymptotic approximation to solutions. Using the classical Bernoulli polynomials, a set of orthonormal polynomials have been derived, and these orthonormal polynomials have been used to form an operational matrix of integration which is has been implemented to find numerical or exact solution of non-singular Volterra integral equations. Two linear Volterra integral and two convolution integral equations of second kind have been solved to demonstrate the effective…
In this paper, we present a collocation method for nonlinear Volterra integral equation of the first kind. This method benefits from the idea of $hp$-version projection methods. We provide an approximation based on the Legendre polynomial interpolation. The convergence of the proposed method is completely studied and an error estimate under the $L^2$-norm is provided. Finally, several numerical experiments are presented in order to verify the obtained theoretical results.
The present study proposed a method for numerical solution of linear Volterra integral equations (VIEs) of the third kind, before only analytical solution methods had been discussed with reference to previous research and review of the related literature. Given that such analytical solutions are not almost always feasible, it is required to provide a numerical method for solving the mentioned equations. Accordingly, Krall-Laguerre polynomials were utilized for numerical solution of these equations. The main purpose of this method is to approximate the unknown functions through Krall-Laguerre p…
We present a sparse spectral method for nonlinear integro-differential Volterra equations based on the Volterra operator's banded sparsity structure when acting on specific Jacobi polynomial bases. The method is not restricted to convolution-type kernels of the form $K(x,y)=K(x-y)$ but instead works for general kernels at competitive speeds and with exponential convergence. We provide various numerical experiments on problems with or without known analytic solutions and comparisons with other methods.
This paper is concerned with the numerical solution of the third kind Volterra integral equations with non-smooth solutions based on the recursive approach of the spectral Tau method. To this end, a new set of the fractional version of canonical basis polynomials (called FC-polynomials) is introduced. The approximate polynomial solution (called Tau-solution) is expressed in terms of FC-polynomials. The fractional structure of Tau-solution allows recovering the standard degree of accuracy of spectral methods even in the case of non-smooth solutions. The convergence analysis of the method is stu…
This paper presents a direct numerical scheme to approximate the solution of all classes of nonlinear Volterra integral equations of the first kind. This computational method is based on operational matrices and vectors. The operational vector for hybrid block pulse functions and Chebyshev polynomials is constructed. The scheme transforms the integral equation to a matrix equation and solves it with a careful estimate of the error involved. The main characteristic of the scheme is the low cost of setting up the equations without using any projection method which is the consequence of using ope…

Various phenomena in biology, physics, and engineering are modeled by differential equations. These differential equations including partial differential equations and ordinary differential equations can be converted and represented as integral equations. In particular, Volterra Fredholm Hammerstein integral equations are the main type of these integral equations and researchers are interested in investigating and solving these equations. In this paper, we propose Legendre Deep Neural Network (LDNN) for solving nonlinear Volterra Fredholm Hammerstein integral equations (VFHIEs). LDNN utilizes …
In this paper, we first establish the existence, uniqueness and Hölder continuity of the solution to stochastic Volterra integral equations with weakly singular kernels. Then, we propose a $θ$-Euler-Maruyama scheme and a Milstein scheme to solve the equations numerically and we obtain the strong rates of convergence for both schemes in $L^{p}$ norm for any $p\geq 1$. For the $θ$-Euler-Maruyama scheme the rate is $\min\{1-α,\frac{1}{2}-β\}~ % (0<α<1, 0< β<\frac{1}{2})$ and for the Milstein scheme the rate is $\min\{1-α,1-2β\}$ when $α\neq \frac 12$, where $(0<α<1, 0< β<\frac{1}{2})$. These resu…
Some corrections are made in our article, which was published in Appl. Anal. Optim. Vol. 3 (2019), No. 1, 103--127. These corrections are intended to transform the equation \eqref{eq:1.1} \begin{equation}\label{eq:1.1} x(t) + \int\limits_a^t {K_1(t,s,x(s)) ds} + \int\limits_a^b {K_2(t,s,x(s)) ds} = g(t),\;\,a \le t \le b \tag{1.1} \end{equation} into a discretized form in a tighter and more accurate way without affecting the main results of the article.
In this paper, we propose a method to approximate the fixed point of an operator in a Banach space. Using biorthogonal systems, this method is applied to build an approximation of the solution of a class of nonlinear partial integro--differential equations. The theoretical findings are illustrated with several numerical examples, confirming the reliability, validity and precision of the proposed method.
The systems of nonlinear Volterra integral equations of the first kind with jump discontinuous kernels are studied. The iterative numerical method for such nonlinear systems is proposed. Proposed method employs the modified Newton-Kantorovich iterative process for the integral operators linearization. On each step of the iterative process the linear system of integral equations is obtained and resolved using the discontinuity driven piecewise constant approximation of the exact solution. The convergence theorem is proved. The polynomial collocation technique is also applied to solve such syste…
The numerical solution of dynamical systems with memory requires the efficient evaluation of Volterra integral operators in an evolutionary manner. After appropriate discretisation, the basic problem can be represented as a matrix-vector product with a lower diagonal but densely populated matrix. For typical applications, like fractional diffusion or large scale dynamical systems with delay, the memory cost for storing the matrix approximations and complete history of the data then would become prohibitive for an accurate numerical approximation. For Volterra-integral operators of convolution …
The polynomial spline collocation method is proposed for solution of Volterra integral equations of the first kind with special piecewise continuous kernels. The Gauss-type quadrature formula is used to approximate integrals during the discretisation of the proposed projection method. The estimate of accuracy of approximate solution is obtained. Stochastic arithmetics is also used based on the Contrôle et Estimation Stochastique des Arrondis de Calculs (CESTAC) method and the Control of Accuracy and Debugging for Numerical Applications (CADNA) library. Applying this approach it is possible to …
