Several physical natures of charged brane-world black holes have been investigated. At first, time-like and null geodesics of the charged brane-world black holes are presented. We also analyze all the possible motions by plotting the effective potentials for various parameters for circular and radial geodesics. Secondly, we investigate the motion of test particles in the gravitational field of charged brane-world black holes using Hamilton-Jacobi (H-J) formalism. We have considered charged and uncharged test particles and examine its behavior both in static and non-static cases. Thirdly, thermodynamics of the charged brane-world black holes are studied. Finally, it has been also shown that there is no phenomenon of superradiance for an incident massless scalar field for this black hole.
We construct novel solutions to the effective Einstein equation with four dimensional cosmological constant on a 3-brane in Randall-Sundrum II scenario. The charged solution is obtained by assuming the existence of localized Maxwell fields on the 3-brane. Timelike and null circular geodesics in the neutral rotating braneworld spacetime with NUT parameter are discussed, and we find that such geodesics cannot occur on the equatorial plane. On non-equatorial planes, timelike circular geodesics can occur for the negative tidal charge, but we cannot find numerical results to support the existence o…
We study a charged Taub-NUT spacetime solution in the DGP brane. We show that the Reissner-Nordstrom-Taub-NUT-de Sitter solution of Einstein-Maxwell gravity solves the corresponding equations of motion, where the cosmological constant is related to the cross-over scale in the DGP model. Following the approach by Teitelboim in discussing the thermodynamics of de Sitter spacetime and the proposal by Wu et al. for a conserved charge associated to the NUT parameter, we obtained the generalized Smarr mass formula and the first law of thermodynamics of the spacetime.
We examine the stability of extremal braneworld Reissner-Nordström black holes under massive charged scalar perturbations. We show that similar to the four-dimensional case, the superradiant amplification can occur in braneworld charged holes. More interestingly we find that when the spacetime dimension is higher than four, a trapping potential well can emerge outside the braneworld black hole. This potential well is the extra dimensional effect and does not exist in four dimensions. It triggers the superradiant instability of the extremal braneworld charged holes.
In this paper, we construct a new class of charged rotating dilaton black brane solutions, with complete set of rotation parameters, which is coupled to a nonlinear Maxwell field. The Lagrangian of the matter field has the form of the power-law Maxwell field. We study the causal structure of the spacetime and its physical properties in ample details. We also compute thermodynamic and conserved quantities of the spacetime such as the temperature, entropy, mass, charge, and angular momentum. We find a Smarr-formula for the mass and verify the validity of the first law of thermodynamics on the bl…
In this note, we consider the equations of motion for charged branes in AdS space and show that they can be cast into one-dimensional coupled Toda type. Then we solve the equations of motion to construct static charged AdS brane solutions which are invariant under translation along $p$ directions and have toroidal symmetry. The solutions are described by mass, charges and a dilaton coupling constant.
We construct a new class of charged rotating black brane solutions in the presence of logarithmic nonlinear electrodynamics with complete set of the rotation parameters in arbitrary dimensions. The topology of the horizon of these rotating black branes are flat, while, due to the presence of the dilaton field the asymptotic behaviour of them are neither flat nor (anti)-de Sitter [(A)dS]. We investigate the physical properties of the solutions. The mass and angular momentum of the spacetime are obtained by using the counterterm method inspired by AdS/CFT correspondence. We derive temperature, e…
In this paper, we discuss optical properties of the topologically charged rotating black hole. We study the horizon, the photon region, the shadow of the black hole and other observables. The results show that in addition to the black hole spin parameter $a$, the other two parameters, tidal charge $β$ and electric charge $q$, are also found to affect the horizon, the photon region and the black hole shadow. In a certain range, with the increase of the three parameters, the horizon distance, shape of the photon region and the black hole shadow will all shrink. Moreover, with the increase of the…
We extend some solutions for black holes in the Randall-Sundrum theory with a single brane. We consider a generalised version of the extremal black hole on the brane in n + 1 dimensions and determine an asymptotic value of the geometry for large black holes.
We study scalar perturbations of nonlinear charged Lifshitz black branes with hyperscaling violating factor, and we find numerically the quasinormal modes for scalar fields. Then, we study the stability of these black branes under massive and massless scalar field perturbations. Also, we consider different values of the dynamical exponent, the nonlinear exponent and the hyperscaling violating exponent.
Path and path deviation equations for neutral, charged, spinning and spinning charged test particles, using a modified Bazanski Lagrangian, are derived. We extend this approach to strings and branes. We show how the Bazanski Lagrangian for charged point particles and charged branes arises `a la Kaluza-Klein from the Bazanski Lagrangian in 5-dimensions.
We generalize the vacuum static black brane solutions of Einstein's equations with negative cosmological constant recently discussed in literature, by introducing rotations and an electromagnetic field. We investigate numerically the thermodynamical properties of the charged and of the rotating $AdS$ black brane and we provide evidences for the existence of the charged and rotating case. In particular, we study the influence of the rotation and charge on the tension and mass. We find that the rotation essentially influences the tensions while the charge essentially influences the mass.
We introduce the surface term for quasitopological gravity in order to make the variational principle of the action well-defined. We also introduce the charged black branes of quasitopological gravity and calculate the finite action through the use of counterterm method. Then we compute the thermodynamic quantities of the black brane solution by use of Gibbs free energy and investigate the first law of thermodynamics by introducing a Smarr-type formula. Finally, we generalize our solutions to the case of rotating charged solutions.
We study electromagnetically charged dilatonic black brane solutions in arbitrary dimensions with flat transverse spaces, that are asymptotically AdS. This class of solutions includes spacetimes which possess a bulk region where the metric is approximately invariant under Lifshitz scalings. Given fixed asymptotic boundary conditions, we analyze how the behavior of the bulk up to the horizon varies with the charges and derive the extremality conditions for these spacetimes.
We present the first-order corrected dynamics of fluid branes carrying higher-form charge by obtaining the general form of their equations of motion to pole-dipole order. Assuming linear response theory, we characterize the corresponding effective theory of stationary bent charged (an)isotropic fluid branes in terms of two sets of response coefficients, the Young modulus and the piezoelectric moduli. We subsequently find large classes of examples in gravity of this effective theory, by constructing stationary strained charged black brane solutions to first order in a derivative expansion. Usin…
We consider charged rotating black holes localized on a three-brane in the DGP model. Assuming a $Z_2$-symmetry across the brane and with a stationary and axisymmetric metric ansatz on the brane, a particular solution is obtained in the Kerr-Schild form. This solution belongs to the accelerated branch of the DGP model and has the characteristic of the Kerr-Newman-de Sitter type solution in general relativity. Using a modified version of Boyer-Lindquist coordinates we examine the structures of the horizon and ergosphere.
We investigate general features of charged Lovelock black branes by giving a detailed description of geometrical, thermodynamic and holographic properties of charged Gauss-Bonnet (GB) black branes in five dimensions. We show that when expressed in terms of effective physical parameters, the thermodynamic behaviour of charged GB black branes is completely indistinguishable from that of charged Einstein black branes. Moreover, the extremal, near-horizon limit of the two classes of branes is exactly the same as they allow for the same AdS$_2\times R_3$, near-horizon, exact solution. This implies …
By intersecting the RR charged D_p - bar{D}_p pair (p=6, 4, 2, 0) with the RR F7-brane and by intersecting the NSNS charged F1-bar{F1} and NS5-bar{NS5} pairs with the NSNS F6-branes, the possibility of stabilizing the brane-antibrane systems is considered. The behavior of the corresponding supergravity solutions indicates that the RR F7-brane content of the solution plays the role of keeping the brane and the antibrane from annihilating each other completely since the two-brane configuration structure still persists in the vanishing inter-brane distance limit of the supergravity solution. In t…
Analytical solutions of Maxwell equations in background spacetime of black hole in braneworld immersed in external uniform magnetic field have been found. Influence of both magnetic and brane parameters on effective potential of the radial motion of charged test particle around slowly rotating black hole in braneworld immersed in uniform magnetic field has been investigated by using Hamilton-Jacobi method. Exact analytical solution for dependence of the radius of the innermost stable circular orbits (ISCO) $r_{\rm ISCO}$ from brane parameter for motion of test particle around nonrotating isola…
We study dyonic solutions to the gravity-dilaton-antisymmetric form equations with the goal of identifying new $p$-brane solutions on the fluxed linear dilaton background. Starting with the generic solutions constructed by reducing the system to decoupled Liouville equations for certain values of parameters, we identify the most general solution whose singularities are hidden behind a regular event horizon, and then explore the admissible asymptotic behaviors. In addition to known asymptotically flat dyonic branes, we find two classes of asymptotically non-flat solutions which can be interpret…
We show that the inclusion of higher curvature terms in the gravitational action can lead to phase transitions and critical behaviour for charged black branes. The higher curvature terms considered here belong to the recently constructed generalized quasi-topological class [ArXiv: 1703.01631], which possess a number of interesting properties, such as being ghost-free on constant curvature backgrounds and non-trivial in four dimensions. We show that critical behaviour is a generic feature of the black branes in all dimensions $d \ge 4$, and contextualize the results with a review of the propert…
We report a dynamical formation of a (Mott) gap from holographic fermions. By coupling a fermion field with dipole action to the charged dilaton black branes with a Lifshitz like IR geometry and $AdS_{4}$ boundary, we find that when the dipole interaction is large enough, spectral weight is transferred between bands, and beyond a critical dipole interaction, a gap emerges in the fermion density of states. The value of the gap becomes larger as the strength of the interaction keeps increasing.
We obtain a Bekenstein entropy bound for the charged objects in arbitrary dimensions ($D\ge 4$) using the D-bound recently proposed by Bousso. With the help of thermodynamics of CFTs corresponding to AdS Reissner-Norström (RN) black holes, we discuss the relation between the Bekenstein and Bekenstein-Verlinde bounds. In particular we propose a Bekenstein-Verlinde-like bound for the charged systems. In the Einstein-Maxwell theory with a negative cosmological constant, we discuss the brane cosmology with positive tension using the Binetruy-Deffayet-Langlois approach. The resulting Friedman-Rober…
The differential scattering cross section of the massless scalar field localized on the 3-brane of charged static black holes in the ADD model is analyzed. While results valid in the entire range of scattering angle can be obtained only via a numerical approach, analytical results can be obtained via the geodesic and glory approximations. The comparisons between numerical and analytical results lead to excellent agreements. The increase of the charge intensity has the consequence of increasing the width of the interference fringes in the scattering cross section. Its influence on the intensity…
In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamics of hyperscaling violating Lifshitz black branes in the presence of a nonlinear massless electromagnetic field. We, first, obtain analytic nonlinear charged black brane solutions with hyperscaling violating factor in dilaton gravity and give the condition on the parameters of the metric for having black brane solutions. Second, we introduce the appropriate finite action in grand-canonical and canonical ensembles for nonlinear electromagnetic field. Next, by generalizing the counterterm method for the asymptotic Lifshitz spacetimes with hyperscali…
In this note, we apply a special metric ansatz to simplify the equations of motion for gravitational systems. Then we construct charged brane solutions in $D=n+p+2$ dimensions which have spherical symmetry of $S^n$ and translational symmetry along $p$ directions. They are characterized by mass density, uniform tension and electric/magnetic charges, and nonsingular only for specific tension. In particular, we find the limits and the coordinate transformations which reduce the charged brane solutions to $M2$- and $M5$-branes. We also obtain the regularity condition for an electrically charged tw…
We show that a model based on a D3-brane--anti-D3-brane system at finite temperature, proposed previously as a microscopic description of the non-rotating black threebrane of type IIB supergravity arbitrarily far from extremality, can also successfully reproduce the entropy of the rotating threebrane with arbitrary charge (including the neutral case, which corresponds to the Kerr black hole in seven dimensions). Our results appear to confirm in particular the need for a peculiar condition on the energy of the two gases involved in the model, whose physical interpretation remains to be elucidat…
We have investigated the classical stability of magnetically charged black $p$-brane solutions for string theories that include the case studied by Gregory and Laflamme. It turns out that the stability behaves very differently depending on a coupling parameter between dilaton and gauge fields. In the case of Gregory and Laflamme, it has been known that the black brane instability decreases monotonically as the charge of black branes increases and finally disappears at the extremal point. For more general cases we found that, when the coupling parameter is small, black brane solutions become st…
We consider a self-consistent Einstein-Maxwell-Kalb-Ramond system in the bulk D=4 space-time interacting with a variable-tension electrically charged lightlike brane. The latter serves both as a material and charge source for gravity and electromagnetism, as well as it dynamically generates a bulk space varying cosmological constant. We find an asymmetric wormhole solution describing two "universes" with different spherically symmetric black-hole-type geometries connected through a "throat" occupied by the lightlike brane. The electrically neutral "left universe" comprises the exterior region …
As in the case of Einstein or Lovelock gravity, the action of quartic quasitopological gravity has not a well-defined variational principle. In this paper, we first introduce a surface term that makes the variation of quartic quasitopological gravity well defined. Second, we present the static charged solutions of quartic quasitopological gravity in the presence of a non linear electromagnetic field. One of the branch of these solutions presents a black brane with one or two horizons or a naked singularity depending on the charge and mass of the solution. The thermodynamic of these black brane…
Application of the adS/CFT correspondence to the RS models may predict that there is no static solution for black holes with a radius larger than the bulk curvature scale. When the black hole has an extremal horizon, however, the correspondence suggests that the black hole can stay static. We focus on the effects of cosmological constant on the brane on such extremal brane-localized black holes. We observe that the positive cosmological constant restrict the black hole size on the brane as in ordinary four-dimensional general relativity. The maximum black hole size differs from that in four-di…
We find a realization of linear electroelasticity theory in gravitational physics by uncovering a new response coefficient of charged black branes, exhibiting their piezoelectric behavior. Taking charged dilatonic black strings as an example and using the blackfold approach we measure their elastic and piezolectric moduli. We also use our results to draw predictions about the equilibrium condition of charged dilatonic black rings in dimensions higher than six.
The perihelion precession, the deflection of light, and the radar echo delay are classical tests of General Relativity here used to probe brane world topologically charged black holes in a f(R) bulk and to constrain the parameter that arises from the Shiromizu-Maeda-Sasaki procedure applied to a f(R) bulk as well. The existing Solar system observational data constrain the possible values of the tidal charge parameter and the effective cosmological constant including f(R) brane world effects. We show that the observational/experimental data for both perihelion precession and radar echo delay ma…
We generalise our first analysis of the wave equation for a massive vector boson in the background of a D-dimensional Schwarzschild black hole, by adding charge both to the field and the black hole, on the 3+1 dimensional Standard Model brane. A detailed numerical study is performed to obtain the transmission factor for the coupled (as well as decoupled) system of equations describing the Proca field modes, varying the angular momentum number, mass, charge and space-time dimensions. A qualitatively new feature arising from the introduction of charge is the appearance of superradiant modes, whi…
By fast Lyapunov indicator (FLI), we study the chaotic dynamics of closed string around charged black brane with hyperscaling violation (HV). The Hawking temperature, Lifshitz dynamical exponent and HV exponent together affect the chaotic dynamics of this system. The temperature plays the role of driving the closed string to escape to infinity. There is a threshold value $z_{\ast}=2$, below which the string is captured by the black brane no matter where the string is placed at the beginning. However, when $z>2$, the string escapes to infinity if it is placed near the black brane at the beginni…
We construct black holes with a Ricci flat horizon in Einstein--Yang-Mills theory with a negative cosmological constant, which approach asymptotically an AdS$_d$ spacetime background (with $d\geq 4$). These solutions are isotropic, $i.e.$ all space directions in a hypersurface of constant radial and time coordinates are equivalent, and possess both electric and magnetic fields. We find that the basic properties of the non-Abelian solutions are similar to those of the dyonic isotropic branes in Einstein-Maxwell theory (which, however, exist in even spacetime dimensions only). These black branes…
Motivated by a recent work on asymptotically Ad$S_4$ black holes in M-theory, we investigate both thermodynamics and thermodynamical geometry of Raissner-Nordstrom-AdS black holes from M2-branes. More precisely, we study AdS black holes in $AdS_{4}\times S^{7}$, with the number of M2-branes interpreted as a thermodynamical variable. In this context, we calculate various thermodynamical quantities including the chemical potential, and examine their phase transitions along with the corresponding stability behaviors. In addition, we also evaluate the thermodynamical curvatures of the Weinhold, Ru…
We describe multicharged black holes in terms of branes and antibranes together with multiple copies of gas of massless excitations. Assuming that energies of these copies of gas are all equal, we find that the entropy of the brane antibrane configuration agrees with that of the multicharged black hole in supergravity approximation, upto a factor X. We find that X = 1 for a suitable normalisation which admits a simple empirical interpretation that the available gas energy is all taken by one single gas which is, in a sense, a certain superposition of the multiple copies; and that the brane ten…
It is well known that the Reissner-Norstrom solution of Einstein-Maxwell theory cannot be cylindrically extended to higher dimension, as with the black hole solutions in vacuum. In this paper we show that this result is circumvented in Lovelock gravity. We prove that the theory containing only the quadratic Lovelock term, the Gauss-Bonnet term, minimally coupled to a $U(1)$ field, admits homogeneous black string and black brane solutions characterized by the mass, charge and volume of the flat directions. We also show that theories containing a single Lovelock term of order $n$ in the Lagrangi…
We supplement the discussion on localization of gravity on dilatonic domain walls in ``Solitons in Brane Worlds'' (Nucl. Phys. B576, 106, hep-th/9911218) by giving unified and coherent discussion which combines the result of this paper and the expanded results in the author's subsequent papers in an attempt to avoid misleading readers. We also discuss the possible string theory embeddings of the Randall-Sundrum type brane world scenarios through non-dilatonic and dilatonic domain walls, which straightforwardly follows from the author's previous works but was not elaborated explicitly.
We study the phenomenological implications stemming from the dependence of the tidal charge on the brane thickness $L$ for the evaporation and decay of microscopic black holes. In general, the larger $L$, the longer are the black hole life-times and the greater their maximum mass for those cases in which the black hole can grow. In particular, we again find that tidal-charged black holes might live long enough to escape the detectors and even the gravitational field of the Earth, thus resulting in large amounts of missing energy. However, under no circumstances could TeV-scale black holes grow…
We investigate bulk and holographic features of finite-temperature black brane solutions of 4D anti-de Sitter Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-gravity (EMDG). We construct, numerically, black branes endowed with non trivial scalar hairs for broad classes of EMDG. We consider both exponential and power-law forms for the coupling functions, as well as several charge configurations: purely electric, purely magnetic and dyonic solutions. At finite temperature the field theory holographically dual to these black brane solutions has a rich and interesting phenomenology reminiscent of electron motion in meta…
We construct a solution to the low-energy string equations of motion in five dimensions that describes a circular loop of fundamental string exponentially expanding in a background electric $H$-field. Euclideanising this gives an instanton for the creation of a loop of fundamental string in a background $H$-field, and we calculate the rate of nucleation. Solutions describing magnetically charged strings and $p$-branes, where the gauge field comes from Kaluza-Klein reduction on a circle, are also constructed. It is known that a magnetic flux tube in four (reduced) spacetime dimensions is unstab…
In this paper, we study topological AdS black branes of $(n+1)$-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory and investigate their properties. We use the area law, surface gravity and Gauss law interpretations to find entropy, temperature and electrical charge, respectively. We also employ the modified Brown and York subtraction method to calculate the quasilocal mass of the solutions. We obtain a Smarr-type formula for the mass as a function of the entropy and the charge, compute the temperature and the electric potential through the Smarr-type formula and show that these thermodynamic quantit…
We consider asymptotically-AdS $n$-dimensional black brane solutions in a theory of gravity coupled to a set of $N$ $p$-form field strengths, in which the field strengths carry magnetic charges. For appropriately chosen charges, the metrics are isotropic in the $(n-2)$ transverse directions. However, in general the field strength configurations break the full Euclidean symmetry of the $(n-2)$-dimensional transverse space. We then study the linearised equation for transverse traceless metric perturbations in these backgrounds, and by employing the Kubo formula we obtain expressions for $η/S$, t…
We obtain the effective theory for the non-linear dynamics of black branes---both neutral and charged, in asymptotically flat or Anti-deSitter spacetimes---to leading order in the inverse-dimensional expansion. We find that black branes evolve as viscous fluids, but when they settle down they are more naturally viewed as solutions of an elastic soap-bubble theory. The two views are complementary: the same variable is regarded in one case as the energy density of the fluid, in the other as the deformation of the elastic membrane. The large-D theory captures finite-wavelength phenomena beyond th…
We study the bulk corresponding to tidal charged brane-world black holes. We employ a propagating algorithm which makes use of the three-dimensional multipole expansion and analytically yields the metric elements as functions of the five-dimensional coordinates and of the ADM mass, tidal charge and brane tension. Since the projected brane equations cannot determine how the charge depends on the mass, our main purpose is to select the combinations of these parameters for which black holes of microscopic size possess a regular bulk. Our results could in particular be relevant for a better unders…
In theories with an infinite extra dimension, free particles localized on the brane can leak out to the extra space. We argue that if there were color confinement in the bulk, electrons would be more able to escape than quarks and than protons (which are composed states). Thus, this process generates an electric charge asymmetry on brane matter densities. A primordial charge asymmetry during Big Bang Nucleosynthesis era is predicted. We use current bounds on this and on electron disappearance to constrain the parameter space of these models. Although the generated asymmetry is generically smal…
In this paper, we focus on the possible correlation between conjectures KSS bound and weak gravity conjecture (WGC). The hydrodynamic values KSS bound and weak gravity conjecture constraint the low-energy effective field theory. These conjectures identify UV complete theories. We give four, six and eight order derivative corrections to corresponding action and employ the hyperscaling violating charged AdS$_{d+2}$ black brane solution. These corrections lead us to find correlation between conjectures KSS bound and weak gravity conjecture. We see that, with increasing perturbation correction, th…
We derive the deflection angle of light rays passing near a black hole with mass m and tidal charge q, confined to a generalized Randall-Sundrum brane with codimension one. We employ the weak lensing approach, up to the second order in perturbation theory by two distinct methods. First we adopt a Lagrangian approach and derive the deflection angle from the analysis of the geodesic equations. Then we adopt a Hamiltonian approach and we recover the same result from the analysis of the eikonal. With this we re-establish the unicity of the result as given by the two methods. Our results in turn im…
We study exact stationary and axisymmetric solutions describing charged rotating black holes localized on a 3-brane in the Randall-Sundrum braneworld. The charges of the black holes are considered to be of two types, the first being an induced tidal charge that appears as an imprint of nonlocal gravitational effects from the bulk space and the second is a usual electric charge arising due to a Maxwell field trapped on the brane. We assume a special ansatz for the metric on the brane taking it to be of the Kerr-Schild form and show that the Kerr-Newman solution of ordinary general relativity in…
We study charged brane-world black holes in the model of Randall and Sundrum in which our universe is viewed as a domain wall in asymptotically anti-de Sitter space. Such black holes can carry two types of ``charge'', one arising from the bulk Weyl tensor and one from a gauge field trapped on the wall. We use a combination of analytical and numerical techniques to study how these black holes behave in the bulk. It has been shown that a Reissner-Nordstrom geometry is induced on the wall when only Weyl charge is present. However, we show that such solutions exhibit pathological features in the b…
We present a class of magnetically charged brane solutions for the theory of Einstein-Maxwell gravity with a negative cosmological constant in an arbitrary number of spacetime dimensions.
In this study, a scalar field propagating in a higher-dimensional Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter black hole is investigated. Scalar fields are assumed to have non-minimal coupling to the brane or bulk scalar curvature. Five different {definitions} of black hole temperatures are discussed: temperature based on surface gravity, Bousso-Hawking temperature, and three effective temperatures. The greybody factors of minimally and non-minimally coupled scalar fields on the brane and in the bulk are examined under the effect of particle and spacetime properties. The energy emission spectra of black hole…
We study charged dilaton black branes in $AdS_4$. Our system involves a dilaton $ϕ$ coupled to a Maxwell field $F_{μν}$ with dilaton-dependent gauge coupling, ${1\over g^2} = f^2(ϕ)$. First, we find the solutions for extremal and near extremal branes through a combination of analytical and numerical techniques. The near horizon geometries in the simplest cases, where $f(ϕ) = e^{αϕ}$, are Lifshitz-like, with a dynamical exponent $z$ determined by $α$. The black hole thermodynamics varies in an interesting way with $α$, but in all cases the entropy is vanishing and the specific heat is positive …
We investigate interactions between branes of various dimensions, both charged and uncharged, in three non-supersymmetric string models. These include the $USp(32)$ and $U(32)$ orientifold projections of the type IIB and type $0$B strings, as well as the $SO(16) \times SO(16)$ projection of the exceptional heterotic string. The resulting ten-dimensional spectra are free of tachyons, and the combinations of branes that they contain give rise to rich and varied dynamics. We compute static potentials for parallel stacks of branes in three complementary regimes: the probe regime, in which one of t…
We study the physical process version and the equilibrium state version of the first law of thermodynamics for a charged p-brane. the general setting for our investigations is (n+p+1)-dimensional Einstein dilaton gravity with (p+2) strength form fields.
In this paper, we investigate the dynamics inside and outside of black-branes in anti de Sitter space by numerical simulations using double-null formalism. We prepare a charged planar matter shell which, due to a negative cosmological constant, collapses and dynamically forms a black-brane with an apparent horizon, a singularity and a Cauchy horizon. The gravitational collapse cannot form a naked overcharged black-brane and hence weak cosmic censorship is safe. Although mass inflation occurs, the effect is much milder than in the case of charged black holes; hence, strong cosmic censorship see…
