Hyperfine induced $1s2s ^1S_0 \to 1s^2 ^1S_0$ M1 transition probabilities of He-like ions have been calculated from relativistic configuration interaction wavefunctions including the frequency independent Breit interaction and QED effects. Present results for {$^{151}$}Eu and {$^{155}$}Gd are in good agreement with previous calculations [Phys. Rev. A {\bf 63}, 054105 (2001)]. Electronic data are given in terms of a general scaling law in $Z$ that, given isotopic nuclear spin and magnetic moment, allows hyperfine induced decay rates to be estimated for any isotope. The results should be helpful for future experimental investigations on QED and parity non-conservation effects.
We have investigated the correction to the hyperfine structure of heavy multicharged ions, which is connected with the nuclear-polarization effect caused by the unpaired bound electron. Numerical calculations are performed for hydrogenlike ions taking into account the dominant collective nuclear excitations. The correction defines the ultimate limit of precision in accurate theoretical predictions of the hyperfine-structure splittings.
Relativistic self-consistent-field calculations of the radial hyperfine integrals have been performed in the 4d-shell element ions. The comparison with available experimental results gives an estimate of configuration interaction effects in the hyperfine interaction in these ions. The one-loop self-energy correction to the hyperfine structure splitting of the 1s and 2s states of hydrogenlike ions is calculated both for the point and finite nucleus. The results of the calculation are combined with other corrections to find the ground state hyperfine splitting in lithiumlike ^{209}Bi^{80+} and ^{165}Ho^{64+}.
Hyperfine structures of the triplet $n^3S-$states in the four-electron Be-atom(s) and Be-like ions are considered. It is shown that to determine the hyperfine structure splitting in such atomic systems one needs to know the triplet electron density at the central atomic nucleus $ρ_T(0)$. We have developed the procedure which allows allows one to determine such an electron density $ρ_T(0)$ for arbitrary four-electron atoms and ions.
An angle-resolved x-ray spectroscopic scheme is presented for determining the hyperfine splitting of highly charged ions. For helium-like ions, in particular, we propose to measure either the angular distribution or polarization of the $1s2p~^{3}P_{1}, F \rightarrow 1s^{2}~^{1}S_{0}, F_{f}$ emission following the stimulated decay of the initial $1s2s~^{1}S_{0}, F_{i}$ level. The ground state hyperfine splitting values and the transition probabilities between the hyperfine structure components of high Z lithiumlike ions are calculated in the range $Z=49-83$. The relativistic, nuclear, QED and interelectronic interaction corrections are taken into account. In this paper, we used the multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock method to compute with high precision the influence of the hyperfine interaction on the $[Ar]3d^{10} 4s4p ^3P_0$ level lifetime in Zn-like ions for stable and some quasi-stable isotopes of nonzero nuclear spin between Z=30 and Z=92. The influence of this interaction on the $[Ar]3d^{10} 4s4p ^3P_1 - [Ar]3d^{10} 4s4p ^3P_0$ separation energy is also calculated for the same ions.
A complete effective Hamiltonian for relativistic corrections at orders $mα^6$ and $mα^6(m/M)$ in a one-electron molecular system is derived from the NRQED Lagrangian. Energy levels, hyperfine interaction constants, and Landé $g_J$-factors are reported for n=2 states in beryllium-, boron-, carbon-, and nitrogen-like ions from relativistic configuration interaction calculations. Valence, core-valence, and core-core correlation effects are taken into account through single and double-excitations from multireference expansions to increasing sets of active orbitals. A systematic comparison of the calculated hyperfine interaction constants is made with values from the available literature.

The status of experimental measurements and theoretical calculations of the hyperfine induced 2s2p 3P0 -> 2s2 1S0 transition rate in Be-like ions is reviewed. Possible reasons, such as external electromagnetic fields and competing E1M1 two-photon transitions, for presently existing significant discrepancies between experiment and theory are discussed. Finally, directions for future research are outlined.

The hyperfine induced $2s2p ^3P_0, ^3P_2 \to 2s^2 ^1S_0$ E1 transition probabilities of Be-like ions were calculated using grasp2K based on multi-configuration Dirac-Fock method and HFST packages. It was found that the hyperfine quenching rates are strongly affected by the interference for low-Z Be-like ions, especially for $2s2p ^3P_0 \to 2s^2 ^1S_0$ transition. The screened QED corrections of the first orders in αand 1/Z to the g factor and the hyperfine splitting of lithiumlike ions are evaluated within ab initio quantum electrodynamical approach. The complete gauge-invariant set of the two-electron self-energy diagrams in the presence of the magnetic field and a dominant part of the two-electron vacuum-polarization diagrams are calculated. The most accurate values of the g factor of Li-like lead and uranium are presented. The theoretical prediction for the specific difference of the hyperfine splittings of H- and Li-like bismuth is improved.
The hyperfine structures of the $2\,^3\!S_1$ and $2\,^3\!P_J$ states of the $^7$Be$^{2+}$ and $^9$Be$^{2+}$ ions are investigated within the framework of the nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics (NRQED). The hyperfine splitting in hydrogenlike $^{209}$Bi, $^{203}$Tl, and $^{205}$Tl is calculated with the nuclear magnetization determined from experimental data on the hyperfine splitting in the corresponding muonic atoms. The single-particle and configuration-mixing nuclear models are considered. The QED corrections are taken into account for both electronic and muonic atoms. The obtained results are compared with other calculations and with experiment.
We measured the ground-state hyperfine splitting of trapped ${}^{113}$Cd${}^{+}$ ions to be 15199862855.02799(27) Hz with a fractional uncertainty of $1.8\times10^{-14}$. The ions were trapped and laser-cooled in a linear quadrupole Paul trap. The hyperfine structure (hfs) and the g factor of a bound electron are caused by external magnetic fields. For the hfs, the magnetic field is due to the nuclear spin. A uniform-in-space and constant-in-time magnetic field is used to probe the bound-electron g factor. The self-energy corrections to these effects are more difficult to evaluate than those to the Lamb shift. Here, we describe a numerical approach for both effects in the notoriously problematic regime of hydrogen-like bound systems with low nuclear charge numbers. A rigorous evaluation of the two-photon exchange corrections to the hyperfine structure in lithiumlike heavy ions is presented. As a result, the theoretical accuracy of the specific difference between the hyperfine splitting values of H- and Li-like Bi ions is significantly improved. Regarding trapped-ion microwave-frequency standards, we report on the determination of hyperfine splittings and Landé $g_J$ factors of $^{111,113}$Cd$^+$. The hyperfine splittings of the $5p~^2P_{3/2}$ state of $^{111,113}$Cd$^+$ ions were measured using laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy. We make precise calculation of hyperfine structure of $S$-states in muonic ions of lithium, beryllium and boron in quantum electrodynamics. Corrections of orders $α^5$ and $α^6$ due to the vacuum polarization, nuclear structure and recoil in first and second orders of perturbation theory are taken into account. We obtain estimates of the total values of hyperfine splittings which can be used for a comparison with future experimental data.
The ground state hyperfine splitting of light muon-electron ions of lithium, beryllium, boron and helium is calculated on the basis of analytical perturbation theory in terms of small parameters of the fine structure constant and electron-muon mass ratio. The corrections of vacuum polarization, nuclear structure and recoil effects and electron vertex corrections are taken into account. The dependence of the corrections on the nucleus charge Z is studied. The obtained total values of hyperfine splitting intervals can be used for comparison with future experimental data.
The hyperfine structures of the $2\,^3\!S_1$ states of the $^6$Li$^+$ and $^7$Li$^+$ ions are investigated theoretically to extract the Zemach radii of the $^6$Li and $^7$Li nuclei by comparing with precision measurements. We calculate hyperfine structure intervals $ΔE^{hfs}(2P_{1/2})$ and $ΔE^{hfs}(2P_{3/2})$ for P-states in muonic ions of lithium, beryllium and boron. To construct the particle interaction operator in momentum space we use the tensor method of projection operators on states with definite quantum numbers of total atomic momentum F and total muon momentum j. We take into account vacuum polarization, relativistic, quadruple and structure corrections of orders $α^4$, $α^5$ and $α^6$. In this work, we discuss the evaluation of higher-order self-energy corrections to the HFS of bound P states. The theoretical aspects of spin-rotation coupling are presented. The approach is based on the general covariance principle. It is shown that the gyrogravitational ratio of the bare spin-1/2 and the spin-1 particles is equal unity. That is why spin couples with rotation as an ordinary angular momentum. This result is the rigorous substantiation of the cranking model. To observe the phenomenon, the experiment with hydrogen-like ions in a storage ring is suggested. The hyperfine structure splittings are determined for the lowest bound state in the positron-helium ion $e^{+}[^3$He$(2^3S)]$ and $e^{+}[^4$He$(2^3S)]$. In particular, we have fond that for the $e^{+}[{}^3$He$(2^3S)]$ ion one can observe the three following hyperfine structure splittinings: 5824.3986 $MHz$, 76466.5308 $MHz$ and 5824.4019 $MHz$. In the $e^{+}[{}^4$He$(2^3S)]$ ion only one hyperfine structure splitting 82963.0427 $MHz$ can be observed. All these values can be measured in modern experiments.
The low-lying n(=3,4,5)d $^2D_{5/2}$ states alkaline earth ions are of vital importance in a number of different physical applications. We consider the spin-exchange (SE) cross section in electron scattering from $^3$He\,{\scriptsize II}, which drives the hyperfine-changing \hbox{3.46 cm} (8.665 GHz) line transition. Both the analytical quantum defect method --- applicable at very low energies --- and accurate R-matrix techniques for electron-He$^+$ scattering are employed to obtain SE cross sections. Based on the results of accurate variational calculations we demonstrate stability of the five-body negatively charged ions $a^{+} b^{+} μ^{-} e^{-} e^{-}$. Each of these five-body ions contains two electrons $e^{-}$, one negatively charged muon $μ^{-}$ and two nuclei of the hydrogen isotopes $a, b = (p, d, t)$. The bound state properties of these five-body ions, including their hyperfine structure, are briefly discussed. Relativistic and QED corrections are calculated for the hyperfine splitting (hfs) in the $2S_{1/2}$ ground state of $^{9}$Be$^+$ ions with an exact account for electronic correlations. The achieved accuracy is sufficient to determine the finite nuclear size effects from the comparison to the experimental hfs value. The obtained results establish the ground to determine the neutron halo in $^{11}$Be.
