For two variable real analytic function germs we compare the blow-analytic equivalence in the sense of Kuo to the other natural equivalence relations. Our main theorem states that $C^1$ equivalent germs are blow-analytically equivalent. This gives a negative answer to a conjecture of Kuo. In the proof we show that the Puiseux pairs of real Newton-Puiseux roots are preserved by the $C^1$ equivalence of function germs. The proof is achieved, being based on a combinatorial characterisation of blow-analytic equivalence in terms of the real tree model.
We also give several examples of bi-Lipschitz equivalent germs that are not blow-analytically equivalent.
The main goal of this work is to show that if two weighted homogeneous (but not homogeneous) function-germs $(\C^2,0)\to(\C,0)$ are bi-Lipschitz equivalent, in the sense that these function-germs can be included in a strongly bi-Lipschitz trivial family of weighted homogeneous function-germs, then they are analytically equivalent.
We construct an invariant of the bi-Lipschitz contact equivalence of continuous function germs definable in a polynomially bounded o-minimal structure, such as semialgebraic functions. For a germ $f,$ the invariant is given in terms of the leading coefficients of the asymptotic expansions of $f$ along the connected components of the tangency variety of $f.$
In this paper we study Lipschitz contact equivalence of continuous function germs in the plane definable in a polynomially bounded o-minimal structure, such as semialgebraic and subanalytic functions. We partition the germ of the plane at the origin into zones where the function has explicit asymptotic behavior. Such a partition is called a pizza. We show that each function germ admits a minimal pizza, unique up to combinatorial equivalence. We show then that two definable continuous function germs are definably Lipschitz contact equivalent if and only if their corresponding minimal pizzas are…
Let $P^{k}(n,p) $ be the set of all real polynomial map germs $f = ( f_1 , ..., f_p ) : (\mathbb{R}^{n},0) \rightarrow (\mathbb{R}^{p},0)$ with degree of $f_1 , ...,f_p$ less than or equal to $ k \in \mathbb{N}$. The main result of this paper shows that the set of equivalence classes of $ P^{k}(n,p)$, with respect to multi-$\mathcal{K}$-bi-Lipschitz equivalence, is finite.
We show that two analytic function germs $(\C^2,0) \to (\C,0)$ are topologically right equivalent if and only if there is a one-to-one correspondence between the irreducible components of their zero sets that preserves the multiplicites of these components, their Puiseux pairs, and the intersection numbers of any pairs of distinct components.
Blow-analytic equivalence is a notion for real analytic function germs, introduced by Tzee-Char Kuo in order to develop real analytic equisingularity theory. In this paper we give complete characterisations of blow-analytic equivalence in the two dimensional case: in terms of the real tree model for the arrangement of real parts of Newton-Puiseux roots and their Puiseux pairs, and in terms of minimal resolutions. These characterisations show that in the two dimensional case the blow-analytic equivalence is a natural analogue of topological equivalence of complex analytic function germs. Moreov…
The classification of map-germs up to the natural right-left equivalence (also known as A-equivalence) is often complicated. Certainly it is more complicated than K-equivalence which is extremely easy to work with because the associated tangent spaces are not 'mixed' modules as they are in the A-equivalence case. In this paper we use a version of K-equivalence, denoted $_V$K-equivalence, that is defined using K-equivalences that preserve a variety in the source of maps to classify maps up to A-equivalence. This is possible through making clear the connection between the two equivalences - prev…
In this short note, we consider the problem of bi-Lipschitz contact equivalence of complex analytic function-germs of two variables. It is inquiring about the infinitesimal sizes of such function-germs, up to bi-Lipschitz changes of coordinates. We show that this problem is equivalent to the problem of the right topological classification.
To any Nash germ invariant under right composition with a linear action of a finite group, we associate its equivariant zeta functions, inspired from motivic zeta functions, using the equivariant virtual Poincaré series as a motivic measure. We show Denef-Loeser formulae for the equivariant zeta functions and prove that they are invariants for equivariant blow-Nash equivalence via equivariant blow-Nash isomorphisms. Equivariant blow-Nash equivalence between invariant Nash germs is defined as a generalization involving equivariant data of the blow-Nash equivalence.
We make progress towards the classification of simple Nash germs invariant under the involution changing the sign of the first coordinate, with respect to equivariant blow-Nash equivalence, which is an equivariant Nash version of blow-analytic equivalence, taking advantage of invariants for this relation, the equivariant zeta functions.
We address the following question, raised by T. Fukui. Is the corank an invariant of the blow-analytic equivalence between real analytic function germs? We give a partial positive answer in the particular case of the blow-Nash equivalence. The proof is based on the computation of some virtual Poincare polynomials and zeta functions associated to a Nash function germ.
In this paper, two sufficient conditions are provided for given two K-equivalent map-germs to be bi-Lipschitz A-equivalent. These are Lipschitz analogues of the known results on C^r-A-equivalence $(0 \leq r \leq \infty)$ for given two K-equivalent map-germs. As a corollary of one of our results, a Lipschitz version of the well-known Fukuda-Fukuda theorem is provided.
We study holomorphic function germs under equivalence relations that preserve an analytic variety. We show that two quasihomogeneous polynomials, not necessarily with isolated singularities, having isomorphic relative Milnor algebras are relative right equivalent. Under the condition that the module of vector fields tangent to the variety is finitely generated, we also show that the relative Tjurina algebra is a complete invariant for the classification of arbitrary function germs with respect to the relative contact equivalence. This is the relative version of a well known result by Mather an…
Approximation of real analytic functions by Nash functions is a classical topic in real geometry. In this paper, we focus on the Nash approximation of an analytic desingularization of a Nash function germ obtained by a sequence of blowings-up along smooth analytic centers. We apply the result to prove that Nash function germs that are analytically equivalent after analytic desingularizations are Nash equivalent after Nash desingularizations. Results are based on a precise Euclidean description of a sequence of blowings-up combined with Néron Desingularization.
A question of B. Teissier, inspired by a previous problem of R. Thom, asks whether for any germ of complex analytic hypersurface there exists a germ of complex algebraic hypersurface with the same topological type. Up to now only the case of germs with an isolated singularity is kwown. In this article we answer in the affirmative the case 1-dimensional singular set, also for embedded topological types.
We prove that if two germs of irreducible complex analytic curves at $0\in\mathbb{C}^2$ have different sequence of characteristic exponents, then there exists $0<α<1$ such that those germs are not $α$-Hölder homeomorphic. For germs of complex analytic plane curves with several irreducible components we prove that if any two of them are $α$-Hölder homeomorphic, for all $0<α<1$, then there is a correspondence between their branches preserving sequence of characteristic exponents and intersection multiplicity of pair of branches. In particular, we recovery the sequence of characteristic exponents…
In this paper we investigate the relation betwen the Nash modification and the Bi-Lipschtiz equivalent germs in the cases of two germs and for a family of hypersurfaces with isolated singularities.
We address the question of the classification under blow-Nash equivalence of simple Nash function germs. We state that this classification coincides with the real analytic classification. We prove moreover that a simple germ can not be blow-Nash equivalent to a nonsimple one. The method is based on the computation of relevant coefficients of the real zeta functions associated to a Nash germ via motivic integration.
For a germ $(X,0) \subset (\mathbb{C}^n,0)$ of reduced, equidimensional complex analytic singularity its Nash modification can be constructed as an analytic subvariety $ Z \subset \mathbb{C}^n \times G(k,n)$. We give a characterization of the subvarieties of $\mathbb{C}^n \times G(k,n)$ that are the Nash modification of its image under the projection to $\mathbb{C}^n$. This result generalizes the characterization of conormal varieties as Legendrian subvarieties of $\mathbb{C}^n \times \check{\mathbb{P}}^{n-1}$ with its canonical contact structure. As a by-product we define the $d$-conormal spa…
We propose a refinement of the notion of blow-Nash equivalence between Nash function germs, which is an analog in the Nash setting of the blow-analytic equivalence defined by T.-C. Kuo. The new definition is more natural and geometric. Moreover, this equivalence relation still does not admit moduli for a Nash family of isolated singularities. Some previous invariants are no longer invariants for this new relation, however, thanks to a Denef & Loeser formula coming from motivic integration in a Nash setting, we managed to derive new invariants for this equivalence relation.
In this paper, the notion of local algebraic fundamental groups of normal complex analytic singularities are generalized to certain profinite groups called $D$-local algebraic fundamental groups which turns out to be useful even for the study of usual local algebraic fundamental groups and the Lefshetz type theorem for $D$-local algebraic fundamental groups is proved under certain conditions. The theorem yields, for example, the finiteness of the local algebraic fundamental groups of a certain class of four dimensional singularities and will be useful for the classification of three dimensiona…
We define invariants of the blow-Nash equivalence of real analytic function germs, in a similar way that the motivic zeta functions of Denef & Loeser. As a key ingredient, we extend the virtual Betti numbers, which were known for real algebraic sets, as a generalized Euler characteristics for projective constructible arc-symmetrics sets. Actually we prove more: the virtual Betti numbers are not only algebraic invariant, but also Nash-invariant of arc-symmetric sets. Our zeta functions enable to sketch the blow-Nash equivalence classes of Brieskorn polynomials of two variables.
To a given analytic function germ $f:(\mathbb{R}^d,0) \to (\mathbb{R},0)$, we associate zeta functions $Z_{f,+}$, $Z_{f,-} \in \mathbb{Z} [[T]]$, defined analogously to the motivic zeta functions of Denef and Loeser. We show that our zeta functions are rational and that they are invariants of the blow-analytic equivalence in the sense of Kuo. Then we use them together with the Fukui invariant to classify the blow-analytic equivalence classes of Brieskorn polynomials of two variables. Except special series of singularities our method classifies as well the blow-analytic equivalence classes of B…
A differential form vanishing on the tangent space at smooth points of a reduced embedded analytic germ is called conormal. For proving that a conormal one--form of a hypersurface vanishes at its singularities we state a Bertini--type theorem.
T. Mostowski showed that every (real or complex) germ of an analytic set is homeomorphic to the germ of an algebraic set. In this paper we show that every (real or complex) analytic function germ, defined on a possibly singular analytic space, is topologically equivalent to a polynomial function germ defined on an affine algebraic variety.
An extremal curve germ is the analytic germ of a threefold with terminal singularities along a reduced complete curve admitting a contraction whose fibers have dimension at most one. The aim of the present paper is to review the results concerning those contractions whose central fiber is irreducible and contains only one non-Gorenstein point.
By Hironaka Desingularization Theorem, any real analytic function has only normal crossing singularities after a suitable modification. We focus on the analytic equivalence of such functions with only normal crossing singularities. We prove that for such functions $C^{\infty}$ right equivalence implies analytic equivalence. We prove moreover that the cardinality of the set of equivalence classes is zero or countable.
For a map germ $G$ with target $(\mathbb C^{p}, 0)$ or $(\mathbb R^{p}, 0)$ with $p\ge 2$, we address two phenomena which do not occur when $p=1$: the image of $G$ may be not well-defined as a set germ, and a local fibration near the origin may not exist. We show how these two phenomena are related, and how they can be characterised.
We show that a Cohen-Macaulay analytic singularity can be arbitrarily closely approximated by germs of Nash sets which are also Cohen-Macaulay and share the same Hilbert-Samuel function. We also prove that every analytic singularity is topologically equivalent to a Nash singularity with the same Hilbert-Samuel function.
We introduce the sphere fibration for real map germs with radial discriminant and we address the problem of its equivalence with the Milnor-Hamm tube fibration. Under natural conditions, we prove the existence of open book structures with singularities and solve the equivalence problem.
We prove the finiteness of the number of blow-analytic equivalence classes of embedded plane curve germs for any fixed number of branches and for any fixed value of $μ'$ ---a combinatorial invariant coming from the dual graphs of good resolutions of embedded plane curve singularities. In order to do so, we develop the concept of standard form of a dual graph. We show that, fixed $μ'$ in $\mathbb{N}$, there are only a finite number of standard forms, and to each one of them correspond a finite number of blow-analytic equivalence classes. In the tribranched case, we are able to give an explicit …
We consider (small) algebraic deformations of germs of real-algebraic CR submanifolds in complex space and study the biholomorphic equivalence problem for such deformations. We show that two algebraic deformations of minimal holomorphically nondegenerate real-algebraic CR submanifolds are holomorphically equivalent if and only if they are algebraically equivalent.
We prove that the cohomology jump loci of rank one local systems on the complement in a small ball of a germ of a complex analytic set are finite unions of torsion translates of subtori. This is a generalization of the classical Monodromy Theorem stating that the eigenvalues of the monodromy on the cohomology of the Milnor fiber of a germ of a holomorphic function are roots of unity.
We use topological methods to prove a semicontinuity property of the Hodge spectra for analytic germs defined on an isolated surface singularity. For this we introduce an analogue of the Seifert matrix (the fractured Seifert matrix), and of the Levine--Tristram signatures associated with it, defined for null-homologous links in arbitrary three dimensional manifolds. Moreover, we establish Murasugi type inequalities in the presence of cobordisms of links. It turns out that the fractured Seifert matrix determines the Hodge spectrum and the Murasugi type inequalities can be read as spectrum semic…
Let f and g be holomorphic function-germs vanishing at the origin of a complex analytic germ of dimension three. Suppose that they have no common irreducible component and that the real analytic map-germ given by the multiplication of f by the conjugate of g has an isolated critical value at 0. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the real analytic map-germ to have a Milnor fibration and we prove that in this case the boundary of its Milnor fibre is a Waldhausen manifold. As an intermediate milestone we describe geometrically the Milnor fibre of map-germs given by the multiplication…
We construct the equivariant analytic lattice cohomology associated with the analytic type of a complex normal surface singularity whenever the link is a rational homology sphere. It is the categorification of the equivariant geometric genus of the germ. This is the analytic analogue of the topological lattice cohomology, associated with the link of the germ, and indexed by the spin$^c$--structures of the link (which is a categorification of the Seiberg--Witten invariant and conjecturally it is isomorphic with the Heegaard Floer cohomology).
This article proves the existence of a bound on the sum of local Betti numbers of a real analytic germ by a polynomial function of its multiplicity. This result can be interpreted as a localization of the classical Oleinik-Petrovsky bound (also known as Thom-Milnor bound) on the sum of Betti numbers of a semi-algebraic set. The proof relies on an interplay between geometric and algebraic arguments whose key elements are the tangent cone of the germ, the Thom-Mather topological trivialization theorem, the Oleinik-Petrovsky bound, and a result by D. Mumford and J. Heintz bounding the degrees of …
The germ of an algebraic variety is naturally equipped with two different metrics up to bilipschitz equivalence. The inner metric and the outer metric. One calls a germ of a variety Lipschitz normally embedded if the two metrics are bilipschitz equivalent. In this article we prove that the model determinantal singularity, that is the space of $m\times n$ matrices of rank less than a given number, is Lipschitz normally embedded. We will also discuss some of the difficulties extending this result to the case of general determinantal singularities.
To a Nash function germ, we associate a zeta function similar to the one introduced by J. Denef and F. Loeser. Our zeta function is a formal power series with coefficients in the Grothendieck ring $\mathcal{M}$ of $\mathcal{AS}$-sets up to $\mathbb{R}^*$-equivariant $\mathcal{AS}$-bijections over $\mathbb{R}^*$, an analog of the Grothendieck ring constructed by G. Guibert, F. Loeser and M. Merle. This zeta function generalizes the previous construction of G. Fichou but thanks to its richer structure it allows us to get a convolution formula and a Thom-Sebastiani type formula. We show that our …
We compute Bernstein-Sato polynomials of some pairs of topologically equivalent plane curve singularities. Some pairs have the same Tjurina number but distinct Bernstein-Sato polynomials, which implies that they are not analytically equivalent.
Earlier, for an action of a finite group $G$ on a germ of an analytic variety, an equivariant $G$-Poincaré series of a multi-index filtration in the ring of germs of functions on the variety was defined as an element of the Grothendieck ring of $G$-sets with an additional structure. We discuss to which extend the $G$-Poincaré series of a filtration defined by a set of curve or divisorial valuations on the ring of germs of analytic functions in two variables determines the (equivariant) topology of the curve or of the set of divisors.
There is presented a method for computing the number of branches of a real analytic curve germ from $R^n$ to $R^m$, where m is greater or equal to n, having a singular point at the origin, and the number of half--branches of the set of double points of an analytic germ from $R^2$ to $R^3$.
Any germ of a complex analytic space is equipped with two natural metrics: the outer metric induced by the hermitian metric of the ambient space and the inner metric, which is the associated riemannian metric on the germ. A complex analytic germ is said Lipschitz normally embedded (LNE) if its outer and inner metrics are bilipschitz equivalent. LNE seems to be fairly rare among surface singularities; the only known LNE surface germs outside the trivial case (straight cones) are the minimal singularities. In this paper, we show that a superisolated hypersurface singularity is LNE if and only if…
Let $f,g:(\mathbb{R}^n,0)\rightarrow (\mathbb{R},0)$ be analytic functions. We will show that if $\nabla f(0)=0$ and $g-f \in (f)^{r+2}$ then $f$ and $g$ are $C^r$-right equivalent, where $(f)$ denote ideal generated by $f$ and $r\in \mathbb{N}$.
It is shown that Denjoy-Carleman quasi analytic rings of germs of functions in two or more variables either complex or real valued that are stable under derivation and strictly larger than the ring of real-analytic germs are not Noetherian rings. The failure of Weierstrass division on these Denjoy-Carleman classes yields a contradiction to Noetherianity via a stronger version of Artin Approximation due to Popescu as well as results on projective modules. This settles a 35-year old open problem in real algebraic geometry.
We show that the possible drop in multiplicity in an analytic family $F(z,t)$ of complex analytic hypersurface singularities with constant Milnor number is controlled by the powers of $t$. We prove equimultiplicity of $μ$-constant families of the form $f + tg + t^2h$ if the singular set of the tangent cone of $\{f = 0}$ is not contained in the tangent cone of $\{h = 0}$.
