We review and investigate some basic properties of static, cylindrically symmetric spacetimes with non-zero cosmological constant, find non-singular sheet sources of these spacetimes and discuss their characteristics, and clarify their relation to the 4D black-string solutions.
We continue our previous study of cylindrically symmetric, static electrovacuum spacetimes generated by a magnetic field, involving optionally the cosmological constant, and investigate several classes of exact solutions. These spacetimes are due to magnetic fields that are perpendicular to the axis of symmetry.
In this paper we consider a static, cylindrically symmetric spacetime with coincident f(Q) gravity. Since the field equation of this spacetime in symmetric teleparallel gravity is suitable for choosing the function of f(Q) in the form of power series and exponential forms, perfect fluid solutions of these forms are discussed. Energy densities, directional pressures and energy conditions are plotted and analysed for a few different metric potentials. Although cosmic strings violate all energy conditions in both f(Q) functions, the Levi-Civita solution violates all energy conditions in the power…
A double new class of solutions to the general relativity field equations describing interior spacetimes sourced by stationary cylindrical anisotropic fluids with principal stress directed along the symmetry axis is displayed. These solutions are required to satisfy regularity and junction conditions so that they can be possibly used to represent rotating astrophysical objects. Mathematical and physical properties are analyzed. The spacetime two independent parameters are physically interpreted, and they are shown to define two different solution classes together with stating the latters' prop…
Quasi-normal modes of toroidal, cylindrical and planar black holes in anti-de Sitter spacetimes: scalar, electromagnetic and gravitational perturbations
In this work we present all the possible solutions for a static cylindrical symmetric spacetime in the Einstein-Aether (EA) theory. As far as we know, this is the first work in the literature that considers cylindrically symmetric solutions in the theory of EA. One of these solutions is the generalization in EA theory of the Levi-Civita (LC) spacetime in General Relativity (GR) theory. We have shown that this generalized LC solution has unusual geodesic properties, depending on the parameter $c_{14}$ of the aether field. The circular geodesics are the same of the GR theory, no matter the value…
Using the quasi-Maxwell formalism, we derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the matching of two stationary spacetimes along a stationary timelike hypersurface, expressed in terms of the gravitational and gravitomagnetic fields and the 2-dimensional matching surface on the space manifold. We prove existence and uniqueness results to the matching problem for stationary perfect fluid spacetimes with spherical, planar, hyperbolic and cylindrical symmetry. Finally, we find an explicit interior for the cylindrical analogue of the NUT spacetime.
The properties of interior spacetimes sourced by stationary cylindrical anisotropic fluids are here analytically studied for both nonrigid and rigid rotation. As regards nonrigid rotation, this is, to our knowledge, the first work dedicated to such a study. We give here a complete equation set describing these spacetime properties. In particular, we focus our attention on both nonrigid and rigid rotation gravito-electromagnetic features and are thus led to display strong hints in favor of conjecturing purely electric Weyl tensor existence in this framework. We have also been able to characteri…
Given an anisotropic fluid source, we determine in closed forms, upon solving the field equations of general relativity (GR) and teleparallel gravity (TEGR) coupled to a cosmological constant, cylindrically symmetric four-dimensional cosmological rotating wormholes, satisfying all local energy conditions, and cosmological rotating solutions with two axes of symmetry at finite proper distance. These solutions have the property that their angular velocity is proportional to the cosmological constant.
We consider the arbitrarily coupled field and self-force of a static massless scalar charge in cylindrical spacetimes with one or two asymptotic regions, with the only matter content concentrated in a thin-shell characterized by the trace of the extrinsic curvature jump $κ$. The self-force is studied numerically and analytically in terms of the curvature coupling $ξ$. We found the critical values $ξ_c^{(n)} = n/ ( ρ(r_s)\,κ)$, with $n \in \mathbb{N}$ and $ρ(r_s)$ the metric's profile function at the position of the shell, for which the scalar field is divergent in the background configuration.…
