We considered the thermodynamics in spaces with deformed commutation relation leading to existence of the minimal length. We developed a classical method of the partition function evaluation. We calculated the partition function and heat capacity for ideal gas and harmonic oscillators using this method. The obtained results are in good agreement with the exact quantum ones. We also showed that the minimal length introduction reduces degrees of freedom of an arbitrary system in the high temperature limit significantly.
A Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule is generalized for the case of the deformed commutation relation leading to minimal uncertainties in both coordinate and momentum operators. The correctness of the rule is verified by comparing obtained results with exact expressions for corresponding spectra.
In general case of deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to the minimal length, we present a definition of the $δ'(x)$ potential as a linear kernel of potential energy operator in momentum representation. We find exactly the energy level and corresponding eigenfunction for $δ'(x)$ and $δ(x)-δ'(x)$ potentials in deformed space with arbitrary function of deformation. The energy spectrum for different partial cases of deformation function is analysed.
We study energy spectrum for hydrogen atom with deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to minimal length. We develop correct perturbation theory free of divergences. It gives a possibility to calculate analytically in the 3D case the corrections to $s$-levels of hydrogen atom caused by the minimal length. Comparing our result with experimental data from precision hydrogen spectroscopy an upper bound for the minimal length is obtained.
We present a definition of the two-sided inverse of position operator in general case of deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to minimal length. Energy spectrum and eigenfunctions in momentum space for 1D Coulomb-like potential in deformed space are found exactly. We analyse the energy spectrum for different partial cases of deformation function and find that correction due to the deformation highly depends on type of the deformation function.
Spectrum and eigenfunctions in the momentum representation for 1D Coulomb potential with deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to minimal length are found exactly. It is shown that correction due to the deformation is proportional to square root of the deformation parameter. We obtain the same spectrum using Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization condition.
We investigated the hydrogen atom problem with deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to the existence of minimal length. Using modified perturbation theory developed in our previous work [M. M. Stetsko and V. M. Tkachuk, Phys. Rev. A 74, 012101 (2006)] we calculated the corrections to the arbitrary s-levels for hydrogen atom. We received a simple relation for the estimation of minimal length. We also compared the estimation of minimal length obtained here with the results obtained in the preceding investigations.
We reduce two-body problem to the one-body problem in general case of deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to minimal length.Two-body problems with delta and Coulomb-like interactions are solved exactly. We obtain analytical expression for the energy spectrum for partial cases of deformation function. The dependence of the energy spectrum on the center-of-mass momentum is found. For special case of deformation function, which correspondes to cutoff procedure in momentum space it is shown that this dependence is more likely to observe for identical particles.
The WKB approximation for deformed space with minimal length is considered. The Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule is obtained. A new interesting feature in presence of deformation is that the WKB approximation is valid for intermediate quantum numbers and can be invalid for small as well as very large quantum numbers. The correctness of the rule is verified by comparing obtained results with exact expressions for corresponding spectra.
We consider one dimensional deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to existence of minimal length for coordinate operator and minimal and maximal uncertainty of momentum operator. For this algebra an exactly solvable Hamiltonian is constructed.
In general case of deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to the minimal length we present a definition of the square inverse position operator. Our proposal is based on the functional analysis of the square position operator. Using this definition a particle in the field of the square inverse position potential is studied. We have obtained analytical and numerical solutions for the energy spectrum of the considerable problem in different cases of deformation function. We find that the energy spectrum slightly depends on the choice of deformation function.
We investigated the orbital magnetic moment of electron in the hydrogen atom in deformed space with minimal length. It turned out that corrections to the magnetic moment caused by deformation depend on one parameter in the presence of two-parametric deformation. It is interesting to note that the correction to orbital magnetic moment is similar to the correction that follows from relativistic theory but it has an opposite sign. Using the upper bound for minimal length obtained in previous papers we estimated the upper bound for relative correction to orbital magnetic moment and obtained the va…
In this paper we present a closed-form expression of the vibrational partition function for the one-dimensional q-deformed Morse potential energy model. Through this function the related thermodynamic functions are derived and studied in terms of the parameters of the model. Specially, we plotted the q-deformed vibrational partition function, and vibrational specific heat for some diatomic molecule systems such as H2, HCl, LiH and CO. The idea of a critical temperature T_{C} is introduced in relation to the specific heat.
We consider the elastic scattering in deformed space with minimal length. We give the basic relation for the elastic scattering in deformed space. We also investigate the partial wave method in deformed space. It is shown that the relations for the scattering amplitude and cross-section formally coincides with ordinary ones.
$1+1$-dimensional Dirac oscillator with minimal uncertainty in position and maximal in momentum is investigated. To obtain energy spectrum SUSY QM technique is applied. It is shown that the Dirac oscillator has two branches of spectrum, the first one gives the standard spectrum of the Dirac oscillator when the parameter of deformation goes to zero and the second branch does not have nondeformed limit. Maximal momentum brings an upper bound for the energy and it gives rise to the conclusion that the energy spectrum contains a finite number of eigenvalues. We also calculate partition function fo…
In this article, we investigate the bound state solution of the Klein Gordon equation under mixed vector and scalar coupling of an energy-dependent deformed Hulthén potential in D-dimensions. We obtain a transcendental equation after we impose the boundary conditions. We calculate energy spectra in four different limits and in arbitrary dimension via the Newton-Raphson method. Then, we use a statistical method, namely canonical partition function, and discuss the thermodynamic properties of the system in a comprehensive way. We find out that some of the thermodynamic properties overlap with ea…
We consider a semi-classical heat engine with a $q$-deformed quantum oscillator working substance and classical thermal baths. We investigate the influence of the quantum statistical deformation parameter $q$ on the work and efficiency of the engine. In usual heat engines, a Hamiltonian parameter is varied during the work injection and extraction stages while the quantum statistical character of the working substance remains fixed. We point out that even if the Hamiltonian parameters are not changing, work can be harvested by quantum statistical changes of the working substance. Work extractio…
The Casimir energy is calculated in one-, two-, and three-dimensional spaces for the field with generalized coordinates and momenta satisfying the deformed Poisson brackets leading to the minimal length.
A one-dimensional deformed Heisenberg algebra $[X,P]=if(P)$ is studied. We answer the question: For what function of deformation $f(P)$ there exists a nonzero minimal uncertainty in position (minimal length). We also find an explicit expression for the minimal length in the case of arbitrary function of deformation.
Studies in string theory and quantum gravity lead to the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) and suggest the existence of a fundamental minimal length which, as was established, can be obtained within the deformed Heisenberg algebra. The first look on the classical motion of bodies in a space with corresponding deformed Poisson brackets in a uniform gravitational field can give an impression that bodies of different mass fall in different ways and thus the equivalence principle is violated. Analyzing the kinetic energy of a composite body we find that the motion of its center of mass in th…
In quantum mechanics with minimal length uncertainty relations the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra of the one-dimensional harmonic oscillator is a deformed SU(1,1) algebra. The eigenvalues and eigenstates are constructed algebraically and they form the infinite-dimensional representation of the deformed SU(1,1) algebra. Our construction is independent of prior knowledge of the exact solution of the Schrödinger equation of the model. The approach can be generalized to the $D$-dimensional oscillator with non-commuting coordinates.
We review the essentials of the formalism of quantum mechanics based on a deformed Heisenbeg algebra, leading to the existence of a minimal length scale. We compute in this context, the energy spectra of the pseudoharmonic oscillator and Kratzer potentials by using a perturbative approach. We derive the molecular constants, which characterize the vibration--rotation energy levels of diatomic molecules, and investigate the effect of the minimal length on each of these parameters for both potentials. We confront our result to experimental data for the hydrogen molecule to estimate an order of ma…
The $D$-dimensional two-parameter deformed algebra with minimal length introduced by Kempf is generalized to a Lorentz-covariant algebra describing a ($D+1$)-dimensional quantized space-time. For D=3, it includes Snyder algebra as a special case. The deformed Poincaré transformations leaving the algebra invariant are identified. Uncertainty relations are studied. In the case of D=1 and one nonvanishing parameter, the bound-state energy spectrum and wavefunctions of the Dirac oscillator are exactly obtained.
Quantum gravity theories predict a minimal length at the order of magnitude of the Planck length, under which the concepts of space and time lose every physical meaning. In quantum mechanics, the insurgence of such minimal length can be described by introducing a modified position-momentum commutator, which in turn yields a generalized uncertainty principle, where the uncertainty on the position measurement has a lower bound. The value of the minimal length is not predicted by theories and must be evaluated experimentally. In this paper, we address the quantum bound to estimability of the mini…
We demonstrate that dynamical noncommutative space-time will give rise to deformed oscillator algebras. In turn, starting from some q-deformations of these algebras in a two dimensional space for which the entire deformed Fock space can be constructed explicitly, we derive the commutation relations for the dynamical variables in noncommutative space-time. We compute minimal areas resulting from these relations, i.e. finitely extended regions for which it is impossible to resolve any substructure in form of measurable knowledge. The size of the regions we find is determined by the noncommutativ…
We construct Deformed Photon Added Nonlinear Coherent States (DPANCSs) by application of the deformed creation operator upon the Nonlinear Coherent States obtained as eigenstates of the deformed annihilation operator and by application of a deformed displacement operator upon the vacuum state. We evaluate some statistical properties like the Mandel parameter, Husimi and Wigner functions for these states and analyze their differences, we give closed analytical expressions for them. We found a profound difference in the statistical properties of the DPANCSs obtained from the two above mentioned …
The $D$-dimensional $(β, β')$-two-parameter deformed algebra introduced by Kempf is generalized to a Lorentz-covariant algebra describing a ($D+1$)-dimensional quantized space-time. In the D=3 and $β=0$ case, the latter reproduces Snyder algebra. The deformed Poincaré transformations leaving the algebra invariant are identified. It is shown that there exists a nonzero minimal uncertainty in position (minimal length). The Dirac oscillator in a 1+1-dimensional space-time described by such an algebra is studied in the case where $β'=0$. Extending supersymmetric quantum mechanical and shape-invari…
For composite systems made of $N$ different particles living in a space characterized by the same deformed Heisenberg algebra, but with different deformation parameters, we define the total momentum and the center-of-mass position to first order in the deformation parameters. Such operators satisfy the deformed algebra with new effective deformation parameters. As a consequence, a two-particle system can be reduced to a one-particle problem for the internal motion. As an example, the correction to the hydrogen atom $n$S energy levels is re-evaluated. Comparison with high-precision experimental…
Perivolaropoulos has recently proposed a position-deformed Heisenberg algebra which includes a maximal length [Phys.Rev.95, 103523 (2017)]. He has shown that this length scale naturally emerges in the context of cosmological particle's horizon or cosmic topology. Following this work, we propose a new deformed algebra and derive the maximal length uncertainty and its corresponding minimal momentum uncertainty from the generalized uncertainty principle. We also construct the corresponding Fourier transform and its inverse representations. Finally, we propose n-dimensional representation of this …
A new approach in solution of simple quantum mechanical problems in deformed space with minimal length is presented. We propose the generalization of Schroëdinger equation in momentum representation on the case of deformed Heisenberg algebra with minimal length. Assuming that the kernel of potential energy operator do not change in the case of deformation, we obtain exact solution of eigenproblem of a particle in delta potential as well as double delta potential. Particle in Coulomb like potential is revisited and the problem of inversibility and hermicity of inverse coordinate operator is sol…
The well-known Heisenberg--Robertson uncertainty relation for a pair of noncommuting observables, is expressed in terms of the product of variances and the commutator among the operators, computed for the quantum state of a system. Different modified commutation relations have been considered in the last years with the purpose of taking into account the effect of quantum gravity. Indeed it can be seen that letting $[X,P] = i\hbar (1+βP^2)$ implies the existence of a minimal length proportional to $\sqrtβ$. The Bialynicki-Birula--Mycielski entropic uncertainty relation in terms of Shannon entro…
We derive continuity equation and exact expression for flow probability density in a space with arbitrary deformed algebra leading to minimal length. In coordinate representation the flow probability density is presented as infinite series over parameter of deformation which in momentum representation can be casted into exact closed form determined by deformed kinetic energy. The flow probability density is calculated explicitly for plane wave and for superposition of two plane waves.
Two generalizations of Kempf's quadratic canonical commutation relation in one dimension are considered. The first one is the most general quadratic commutation relation. The corresponding nonzero minimal uncertainties in position and momentum are determined and the effect on the energy spectrum and eigenfunctions of the harmonic oscillator in an electric field is studied. The second extension is a function-dependent generalization of the simplest quadratic commutation relation with only a nonzero minimal uncertainty in position. Such an uncertainty now becomes dependent on the average positio…
We propose a new approach to calculate perturbatively the effects of a particular deformed Heisenberg algebra on energy spectrum. We use this method to calculate the harmonic oscillator spectrum and find that corrections are in agreement with a previous calculation. Then, we apply this approach to obtain the hydrogen atom spectrum and we find that splittings of degenerate energy levels appear. Comparison with experimental data yields an interesting upper bound for the deformation parameter of the Heisenberg algebra.
Generalized coherent states (GCs) under deformed quantum mechanics which exhibits intrinsic minimum length and maximum momentum have been well studied following Gazeau-Klauder approach. In this paper, as an extension to the study of quantum deformation, we investigate the famous Schrodinger cat states (SCs) under these two classes of quantum deformation. Following the concept of generalized Gazeau-Klauder Schrodinger cat states (GKSCs), we construct the deformed-GKSCs for both phenomenological models that exhibit intrinsic minimum length and (or) maximum momentum. All comparisons between minim…
A minimal observable length is a common feature of theories that aim to merge quantum physics and gravity. Quantum mechanically, this concept is associated to a nonzero minimal uncertainty in position measurements, which is encoded in deformed commutation relations. In spite of increasing theoretical interest, the subject suffers from the complete lack of dedicated experiments and bounds to the deformation parameters are roughly extrapolated from indirect measurements. As recently proposed, low-energy mechanical oscillators could allow to reveal the effect of a modified commutator. Here we ana…
In the q-deformed theory the perturbation approach can be expressed in terms of two pairs of undeformed position and momentum operators. There are two configuration spaces. Correspondingly there are two q-perturbation Hamiltonians, one originates from the perturbation expansion of the potential in one configuration space, the other one originates from the perturbation expansion of the kinetic energy in another configuration space. In order to establish a general foundation of the q-perturbation theory, two perturbation equivalence theorems are proved: (I) Equivalence theorem {\it I}: Perturbat…
We analyze the position and momentum uncertainties of the energy eigenstates of the harmonic oscillator in the context of a deformed quantum mechanics, namely, that in which the commutator between the position and momentum operators is given by [x,p]=i\hbar(1+βp^2). This deformed commutation relation leads to the minimal length uncertainty relation Δx > (\hbar/2)(1/Δp +βΔp), which implies that Δx ~ 1/Δp at small Δp while Δx ~ Δp at large Δp. We find that the uncertainties of the energy eigenstates of the normal harmonic oscillator (m>0), derived in Ref. [1], only populate the Δx ~ 1/Δp branch.…

We demonstrate that the recent paper by Jana and Roy entitled ''Non-Hermitian quantum mechanics with minimal length uncertainty'' [SIGMA 5 (2009), 083, 7 pages, arXiv:0908.1755] contains various misconceptions. We compare with an analysis on the same topic carried out previously in our manuscript [arXiv:0907.5354]. In particular, we show that the metric operators computed for the deformed non-Hermitian Swanson models differs in both cases and is inconsistent in the former.
We study the thermostatistics of q-deformed bosons and fermions obeying the symmetric algebra and show that it can be built on the formalism of q-calculus. The entire structure of thermodynamics is preserved if ordinary derivatives are replaced by an appropriate Jackson derivative. In this framework, we derive the most important thermodynamic functions describing the q-boson and q-fermion ideal gases in the thermodynamic limit. We also investigate the semi-classical limit and the low temperature regime and demonstrate that the nature of the q-deformation gives rise to pure quantum statistical …
We establish some of the properties of the states interpolating between number and coherent states denoted by $| n >_λ$; among them are the reproducing of these states by the action of an operator-valued function on $| n>$ (the standard Fock space) and the fact that they can be regarded as $f$-deformed coherent bound states. In this paper we use them, as the basis of our new Fock space which in this case are not orthogonal but normalized. Then by some special superposition of them we obtain new representations for coherent and squeezed states in the new basis. Finally the statistical propertie…
Deformations of the canonical commutation relations lead to non-Hermitian momentum and position operators and therefore almost inevitably to non-Hermitian Hamiltonians. We demonstrate that such type of deformed quantum mechanical systems may be treated in a similar framework as quasi/pseudo and/or PT-symmetric systems, which have recently attracted much attention. For a newly proposed deformation of exponential type we compute the minimal uncertainty and minimal length, which are essential in almost all approaches to quantum gravity.
