Given a submodule $J\subset \mathcal O_0^{\oplus r}$ and a free resolution of $J$ one can define a certain vector valued residue current whose annihilator is $J$. We make a decomposition of the current with respect to Ass$(J)$ that correspond to a primary decomposition of $J$. As a tool we introduce a class of currents that includes usual residue and principal value currents; in particular these currents admit a certain type of restriction to analytic varieties and more generally to constructible sets.
Given a free resolution of an ideal $J$ of holomorphic functions, one can construct a vector valued residue current $R$, whose annihilator is precisely $J$. In this paper we compute $R$ in case $J$ is a monomial ideal and the resolution is a cellular resolution in the sense of Bayer and Sturmfels. A description of $R$ is given in terms of the underlying polyhedral cell complex and it is related to irreducible decompositions of $J$.
We study residue currents of the Bochner--Martinelli type using their relationship with Mellin transforms of residue integrals. We present the structure formula for residue currents associated with monomial mappings: they admit representations as sums of products of residue currents, principal value currents and hypergeometric functions.
Given a free resolution of an ideal $\mathfrak{a}$ of holomorphic functions, one can construct a vector-valued residue current, $R$, which coincides with the classical Coleff-Herrera product if $\mathfrak{a}$ is a complete intersection ideal and whose annihilator ideal is precisely ~$\mathfrak{a}$. We give a complete description of $R$ in the case when $\mathfrak{a}$ is an Artinian monomial ideal and the resolution is the hull resolution (or a more general cellular resolution), extending previous results by the second author. The main ingredient in the proof is a comparison formula for residue…
With a given holomorphic section of a Hermitian vector bundle, one can associate a residue current by means of Cauchy-Fantappiè-Leray type formulas. In this paper we define products of such residue currents. We prove that, in the case of a complete intersection, the product of the residue currents of a tuple of sections coincides with the residue current of the direct sum of the sections.
Using methods from the theory of residue currents we provide asymptotic expansions of certain divergent integrals on complex manifolds. We express the coefficients in these expansions with the conjugate Dolbeault residue, introduced by Felder and Kazhdan, and define a new residue which we call the Aeppli residue.
We show that Coleff-Herrera type products of residue currents can be defined by analytic continuation of natural functions depending on one complex variable.
We find a relation between the vanishing of a globally defined residue current on $¶^n$ and solution of the membership problem with control of the polynomial degrees. Several classical results appear as special cases, such as Max Nöther's theorem, and we also obtain a generalization of that theorem. There are also connections to effective versions of the Nullstellensatz. We also provide explicit integral representations of the solutions.
Given a coherent ideal sheaf $J$ we construct locally a vector-valued residue current $R$ whose annihilator is precisely the given sheaf. In case $J$ is a complete intersection, $R$ is just the classical Coleff-Herrera product. By means of these currents we can extend various results, previously known for a complete intersection, to general ideal sheaves. Combining with integral formulas we obtain a residue version of the Ehrenpreis-Palamodov fundamental principle.
For a Cohen-Macaulay ideal of holomorphic functions, we construct by elementary means residue currents whose annihilator is precisely the given ideal. We give two proofs that the currents have the prescribed annihilator, one using the theory of linkage, and another using an explicit division formula involving these residue currents to express the ideal membership.
Let $X$ be a complex manifold and $f\colon X\to \C^p$ a holomorphic mapping defining a complete intersection. We prove that the iterated Mellin transform of the residue integral associated to $f$ has an analytic continuation to a neighborhood of the origin in $\C^p$.
Under assumptions about complete intersection, we prove that Coleff-Herrera type currents satisfy a robust calculus in the sense that natural regularizations of such currents can be multiplied to yield regularizations of the Coleff-Herrera product of the currents.
Let $f_1$, $f_2$, and $f_3$ be holomorphic functions on a complex manifold and assume that the common zero set of the $f_j$ has maximal codimension, i.e., that it is a complete intersection. We prove that the iterated Mellin transform of the residue integral has an analytic continuation to a neighborhood of the origin in $\mathbb{C}^3$. We prove also that the natural regularization of the residue current converges unrestrictedly.
We describe various approaches to Coleff-Herrera products of residue currents $R^j$ (of Cauchy-Fantappiè-Leray type) associated to holomorphic mappings $f_j$. More precisely, we study to which extent (exterior) products of natural regularizations of the individual currents $R^j$ yield regularizations of the corresponding Coleff-Herrera products. Our results hold globally on an arbitrary pure-dimensional complex space.
We compute residue currents of Bochner-Martinelli type associated with a monomial ideal $I$, by methods involving certain toric varieties. In case the variety of $I$ is the origin, we give a complete description of the annihilator of the currents in terms of the associated Newton diagram. In particular, we show that the annihilator is strictly included in $I$, unless $I$ is defined by a complete intersection. We also provide partial results for general monomial ideals.
We construct Coleff-Herrera products and Bochner-Martinelli type residue currents associated with a tuple $f$ of weakly holomorphic functions, and show that these currents satisfy basic properties from the (strongly) holomorphic case, as the transformation law, the Poincaré-Lelong formula and the equivalence of the Coleff-Herrera product and the Bochner-Martinelli type residue current associated with $f$ when $f$ defines a complete intersection.
We study the residue current R^f of Bochner-Martinelli type associated with a tuple f=(f_1,...,f_m) of holomorphic germs at the origin in C^n, whose common zero set equals the origin. Our main results are a geometric description of R^f in terms of the Rees valuations associated with the ideal (f) generated by f and a characterization of when the annihilator ideal of R^f equals (f).

Given a free resolution of an ideal $\mathfrak a$ of holomorpic functions there is an associated residue current $R$ that coincides with the classical Coleff-Herrera product if $\mathfrak a$ is a complete intersection ideal and whose annihilator ideal equals $\mathfrak a$. In the case when $\mathfrak a$ is an Artinian monomial ideal, we show that the singularities of $R$ are small in a certain sense if and only if $\mathfrak a$ is integrally closed.
Given two ideals $\mathcal{I}$ and $\mathcal{J}$ of holomorphic functions such that $\mathcal{I} \subseteq \mathcal{J}$, we describe a comparison formula relating the Andersson-Wulcan currents of $\mathcal{I}$ and $\mathcal{J}$. More generally, this comparison formula holds for residue currents associated to two generically exact Hermitian complexes together with a morphism between the complexes. One application of the comparison formula is a generalization of the transformation law for Coleff-Herrera products to Andersson-Wulcan currents of Cohen-Macaulay ideals. We also use it to give an ana…
We prove that the Coleff-Herrera residue current, corresponding to a pair of holomorphic functions defining a complete intersection, can be obtained as the unrestricted weak limit of a natural smooth $(0,2)$-form depending on two parameters. Moreover, we prove that the rate of convergence is Hölder. This result is in contrast to the fact, first discovered by Passare and Tsikh, that the residue integral in general is discontinuous at the origin. We also generalize our regularization results to pairs of so called Bochner-Martinelli, or more generally, Cauchy-Fantappie-Leray blocks in the case of…
We give a factorization of the fundamental cycle of an analytic space in terms of certain differential forms and residue currents associated with a locally free resolution of its structure sheaf. Our result can be seen as a generalization of the classical Poincaré-Lelong formula. It is also a current version of a result by Lejeune-Jalabert, who similarly expressed the fundamental class of a Cohen-Macaulay analytic space in terms of differential forms and cohomological residues.
We show that a global holomorphic section of $\mathscr{O}(d)$ restricted to a closed complex subspace $X \subset \mathbb{P}^n$ has an interpolant if and only if it satisfies a set of moment conditions that involves a residue current associated with a locally free resolution of $\mathscr{O}_X$. When $X$ is a finite set of points in $\mathbb{C}^n \subset \mathbb{P}^n$ this can be interpreted as a set of linear conditions that a function on $X$ has to satisfy in order to have a polynomial interpolant of degree at most $d$.
Given an ideal $\mathcal{J}$ on a complex manifold, Andersson and Wulcan constructed a current $R^\mathcal{J}$ such that the annihilator of $R^\mathcal{J}$ is $\mathcal{J}$, generalizing the duality theorem for Coleff-Herrera products. We describe a way to generalize this construction to ideals on singular varieties.
We use residue currents on toric varieties to obtain bounds on the degrees of solutions to polynomial ideal membership problems. Our bounds depend on (the volume of) the Newton polytope of the polynomial system and are therefore well adjusted to sparse polynomial systems. We present sparse versions of Max Nöther's $AF+BG$ Theorem, Macaulay's Theorem, and Kollár's Effective Nullstellensatz, as well as recent results by Hickel and Andersson-Götmark.
In this work we prove a Brunella-Khanedani-Suwa variational type residue theorem for currents invariant by holomorphic foliations. As a consequence, we give conditions for the leaves of a singular holomorphic foliation to accumulate in the intersection of the singular set of the foliation with the support of an invariant current.
We give a factorization of the cycle of a bounded complex of vector bundles in terms of certain associated differential forms and residue currents. This is a generalization of previous results in the case when the complex is a locally free resolution of the structure sheaf of an analytic space and it can be seen as a generalization of the classical Poincaré-Lelong formula.
We study the weighted Bochner-Martinelli residue current R^p(f) associated with a sequence f=(f_1,...,f_m) of holomorphic germs at the origin in C^n, whose common zero set equals the origin, and p=(p_1,..., p_m)\in N^n. Our main results are a description of R^p(f) and its annihilator ideal in terms of the Rees valuations of the ideal generated by (f_1^{p_1},..., f_m^{p_m}) and an explicit description of R^p(f) when f is monomial. For a monomial sequence f we show that R^p(f) is independent of p if and only if f is a regular sequence.
We introduce the ring of partial differential operators with constant coefficients and commensurate time lags (we use the terminology D$Δ$ operators from now) initially defined by H. Glüsing-Lürßen for ordinary $DΔ$ operators and investigate its cohomological properties. Combining this ring theoretic observation with the integral representation technique developed by M. Andersson, we solve a certain type of division with bounds. In the last chapter, we prove the injectivity property of various function modules over this ring as well as spectral synthesis type theorems for $DΔ$ equations.
We give a local criterion in terms of a residue current for strong holomorphicity of a meromorphic function on an arbitrary pure-dimensional analytic variety. This generalizes a result by A Tsikh for the case of a reduced complete intersection.
Using Bochner-Martinelli type residual currents we prove some generalizations of Jacobi's Residue Formula, which allow proper polynomial maps to have `common zeroes at infinity', in projective or toric situations.
Given a generically surjective holomorphic vector bundle morphism $f\colon E\to Q$, $E$ and $Q$ Hermitian bundles, we construct a current $R^f$ with values in $\Hom(Q,H)$, where $H$ is a certain derived bundle, and with support on the set $Z$ where $f$ is not surjective. The main property is that if $ϕ$ is a holomorphic section of $Q$, and $R^fϕ=0$, then locally $fψ=ϕ$ has a holomorphic solution $ψ$. In the generic case also the converse holds. This gives a generalization of the corresponding theorem for a complete intersection, due to Dickenstein-Sessa and Passare. We also present results for…
Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a singular codimension one holomorphic foliation on a compact complex manifold $X$ of dimension at least three such that its singular set has codimension at least two. In this paper, we determine Lehmann-Suwa residues of $\mathcal{F}$ as multiples of complex numbers by integration currents along irreducible complex subvarieties of $X$. We then prove a formula that determines the Baum-Bott residue of simple almost Liouvillian foliations of codimension one, in terms of Lehmann-Suwa residues, generalizing a result of Marco Brunella. As an application, we give sufficient condi…
In previous work of the authors and their collaborators (see Progress in Math, vol. 114, Birkäuser, 1993) it was shown how the equivalence of several constructions of residue currents associated to complete intersection families of (germs of) holomorphic functions in ${\bf C}^n$ could be profitably used to solve algebraic problems like effective versions of the Nullstellensatz. In this work we explain how an application of similar ideas in the non-complete intersection case leads to a remarkable algebraic result, namely: Let $P_1,...,P_n$ be $n$ polynomials in $n$ variables such that the zero …
Several sets of quaternionic functions are described and studied. Residue current of the right inverse of a quaternionic function is introduced in particular cases.
Let $α$ be a big class on a compact Kähler manifold. We prove that a decomposition $α=α_1+α_2$ into the sum of a modified nef class $α_1$ and a pseudoeffective class $α_2$ is the divisorial Zariski decomposition of $α$ if and only if $\operatorname{vol}(α)=\operatorname{vol}(α_1)$. We deduce from this result some properties of full mass currents.
