Schwinger's finite (D) dimensional periodic Hilbert space representations are studied on the toroidal lattice ${\ee Z}_{D} \times {\ee Z}_{D}$ with specific emphasis on the deformed oscillator subalgebras and the generalized representations of the Wigner function. These subalgebras are shown to be admissible endowed with the non-negative norm of Hilbert space vectors. Hence, they provide the desired canonical basis for the algebraic formulation of the quantum phase problem. Certain equivalence classes in the space of labels are identified within each subalgebra, and connections with area-preserving canonical transformations are examined. The generalized representations of the Wigner function are examined in the finite-dimensional cyclic Schwinger basis. These representations are shown to conform to all fundamental conditions of the generalized phase space Wigner distribution. As a specific application of the Schwinger basis, the number-phase unitary operator pair in ${\ee Z}_{D} \times {\ee Z}_{D}$ is studied and, based on the admissibility of the underlying q-oscillator subalgebra, an {\it algebraic} approach to the unitary quantum phase operator is established. This being the focus of this work, connections with the Susskind-Glogower- Carruthers-Nieto phase operator formalism as well as standard action-angle Wigner function formalisms are examined in the infinite-period limit. The concept of continuously shifted Fock basis is introduced to facilitate the Fock space representations of the Wigner function.
Wigner distribution function of atomic system interacts locally with a deformed cavity is discussed. It is shown that, the deformed cavity has a destructive effect on the Wigner distribution function, where it decreases as one increases the deformation strength. The upper and lower bounds of the Wigner distribution function depends on the initial state settings of atomic system (entangled/product), the initial values of the dipole-dipole interaction's and detuning parameters, and the external distribution weight and the phase angles. The possibility of suppressing the decay induced by the defo…
Using the Wigner distribution function, we analyze the behavior on phase space of generalized coherent states associated with the Morse potential (Morse-like coherent states). Within the f-deformed oscillator formalism, such states are constructed by means of the two following definitions: {\it i)} as deformed displacement operator coherent states (DOCSs) and {\it ii)} as deformed photon-added coherent states (DPACSs).
A one-parameter generalized Wigner-Heisenberg algebra( WHA) is reviewed in detail. It is shown that WHA verifies the deformed commutation rule $[\hat{x}, \hat{p}_λ] = i(1 + 2λ\hat{R})$ and also highlights the dynamical symmetries of the pseudo-harmonic oscillator( PHO). \textbf{The present article is devoted to the study of new cat-states} built from $λ$-deformed Schrödinger coherent states, which according to the Barut-Girardello scheme are defined as the eigenstates of the generalized annihilation operator. Particular attention is devoted to the limiting case where the Schrödinger cat states…
Rarita-Schwinger (RS) quantum free field is reexamined in the context of deformation quantization. It is found out that the subsidiary condition does not introduce any change either in the Wigner function or in other aspects of the deformation quantization formalism, in relation to the Dirac field case. This happens because the vector structure of the RS field imposes constraints on the space of wave function solutions and not on the operator structure. The RS propagator was also calculated within this formalism.

We investigate the quantum state transfer in a chain of particles satisfying q-deformed oscillators algebra. This general algebraic setting includes the spin chain and the bosonic chain as limiting cases. We study conditions for perfect state transfer depending on the number of sites and excitations on the chain. They are formulated by means of irreducible representations of a quantum algebra realized through Jordan-Schwinger maps. Playing with deformation parameters, we can study the effects of nonlinear perturbations or interpolate between the spin and bosonic chain.
We present a self-consistent theoretical framework for finite-dimensional discrete phase spaces that leads us to establish a well-grounded mapping scheme between Schwinger unitary operators and generators of the special unitary group $\mathrm{SU(N)}$. This general mathematical construction provides a sound pathway to the formulation of a genuinely discrete Wigner function for arbitrary quantum systems described by finite-dimensional state vector spaces. To illustrate our results, we obtain a general discrete Wigner function for the group $\mathrm{SU(3)}$ and apply this to the study of a partic…
Starting from the groupoid approach to Schwinger's picture of Quantum Mechanics, a proposal for the description of symmetries in this framework is advanced. It is shown that, given a groupoid $G\rightrightarrows Ω$ associated with a (quantum) system, there are two possible descriptions of its symmetries, one "microscopic", the other one "global".The microscopic point of view leads to the introduction of an additional layer over the grupoid $G$, giving rise to a suitable algebraic structure of 2-groupoid.On the other hand, taking advantage of the notion of group of bisections of a given groupoid…
We show that the quantum logic gates, {\it viz.} the single qubit Hadamard and Phase Shift gates, can also be realised using q-deformed angular momentum states constructed via the Jordan-Schwinger mechanism with two q-deformed oscillators. {\it Keywords :} quantum logic gates ; q-deformed oscillators ; quantum computation {\it PACS:} 03.67.Lx ; 02.20.Uw
It is shown that the two qubit CNOT (controlled NOT) gate can also be realised using q-deformed angular momentum states via the Jordan-Schwinger mechanism. Thus all the three gates necessary for universality i.e. Hadamard, Phase Shift and the two qubit CNOT gate are realisable with q-deformed oscillators.
Non-perturbative electron-positron pair creation (Schwinger effect) is studied based on the equal-time Wigner formalism in 1+1 dimensions. An ab initio calculation of the Schwinger effect in the presence of a simple space- and time-dependent electric field pulse is performed for the first time, allowing for the calculation of the time evolution of observable quantities such as the charge density, the particle number density or the total number of created particles. We predict a new self-bunching effect of charges in phase space due to the spatial and temporal structure of the pulse.
By means of a well-grounded mapping scheme linking Schwinger unitary operators and generators of the special unitary group $\mathrm{SU(N)}$, it is possible to establish a self-consistent theoretical framework for finite-dimensional discrete phase spaces which has the discrete $\mathrm{SU(N)}$ Wigner function as a legitimate by-product. In this paper, we apply these results with the aim of putting forth a detailed study on the discrete $\mathrm{SU(2)} \otimes \mathrm{SU(2)}$ and $\mathrm{SU(4)}$ Wigner functions, in straight connection with experiments involving, among other things, the tomogra…
The concept of the Schwinger Representation of a finite or compact simple Lie group is set up as a multiplicity-free direct sum of all the unitary irreducible representations of the group. This is abstracted from the properties of the Schwinger oscillator construction for SU(2), and its relevance in several quantum mechanical contexts is highlighted. The Schwinger representations for $SU(2), SO(3)$ and SU(n) for all $n$ are constructed via specific carrier spaces and group actions. In the SU(2) case connections to the oscillator construction and to Majorana's theorem on pure states for any spi…
Darboux-deformations of short range one-dimensional potentials are constructed by means of Gamow-Siegert functions (resonance states). Results include both Hermitian and non-Hermitian short range potentials which are exactly solvable. As illustration, the method is applied to square wells and barriers for which the transmission coefficient is a superposition of Fock-Breit-Wigner distributions. Resonance levels are calculated in the long lifetime limit by means of analytical and numerical approaches. The new complex potentials behave as an optical device which both refracts and absorbs light wa…
A relativistic resonance which was defined by a pole of the $S$-matrix, or by a relativistic Breit-Wigner line shape, is represented by a generalized state vector (ket) which can be obtained by analytic extension of the relativistic Lippmann-Schwinger kets. These Gamow kets span an irreducible representation space for Poincaré transformations which, similar to the Wigner representations for stable particles, are characterized by spin (angular momentum of the partial wave amplitude) and complex mass (position of the resonance pole). The Poincaré transformations of the Gamow kets, as well as of …
We investigate the Weyl-Wigner-Gröenewold-Moyal, the Stratonovich and the Berezin group quantization schemes for the space-space noncommutative Heisenberg-Weyl group. We show that the $\star$-product for the deformed algebra of Weyl functions for the first scheme is different than that for the other two, even though their respective quantum mechanics' are equivalent as far as expectation values are concerned, provided that some additional criteria are imposed on the implementation of this process. We also show that it is the $\star$-product associated with the Stratonovich and the Berezin form…
This is the third part of a paper about non-relativistic Schroedinger theory on q-deformed quantum spaces like the braided line or the three-dimensional q-deformed Euclidean space. Propagators for the free q-deformed particle are derived and their basic properties are discussed. A time-dependent formulation of scattering is proposed. In this respect, q-analogs of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation are given. Expressions for their iterative solutions are written down. It is shown how to calculate S-matrices and transition probabilities. Furthermore, attention is focused on the question what become…
Following the discussion -- in state space language -- presented in a preceding paper, we work on the passage from the phase space description of a degree of freedom described by a finite number of states (without classical counterpart) to one described by an infinite (and continuously labeled) number of states. With that it is possible to relate an original Schwinger idea to the Pegg and Barnett approach to the phase problem. In phase space language, this discussion shows that one can obtain the Weyl-Wigner formalism, for both Cartesian {\em and} angular coordinates, as limiting elements of t…
We analyze the asymptotics of the Wigner $3j$-symbol as a matrix element connecting eigenfunctions of a pair of integrable systems, obtained by lifting the problem of the addition of angular momenta into the space of Schwinger's oscillators. A novel element is the appearance of compact Lagrangian manifolds that are not tori, due to the fact that the observables defining the quantum states are noncommuting. These manifolds can be quantized by generalized Bohr-Sommerfeld rules and yield all the correct quantum numbers. The geometry of the classical angular momentum vectors emerges in a clear man…
In this paper we generalize the concept of Wigner function in the case of quantum mechanics with a minimum length scale arising due to the application of a generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). We present the phase space formulation of such theories following GUP and show that the Weyl transform and the Wigner function does satisfy some of their known properties in standard quantum mechanics. We utilise the generalized Wigner function to calculate the phase space average of the Hamiltonian of a quantum harmonic oscillator satisfying deformed Heisenberg algebra. It is also shown that average…
We show that for general deformations of SU(2) algebra, the dynamics in terms of ladder operators is preserved. This is done for a system of precessing magnetic dipole in magnetic field, using the unitary phase operator which arises in the polar decomposition of SU(2) operators. It is pointed out that there is a single phase operator dynamics underlying the dynamics of usual and deformed ladder operators.
We develop a formalism for the scattering of a particle on the $q$-deformed Euclidean space. We write down $q$-versions of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation. Their iterative solutions for a weak scattering potential lead us to $q$-versions of the Born series. With the expressions for the wave functions of the scattered particle, we can write down S-matrix elements. We show that these S-matrix elements satisfy unitarity conditions. Considerations about the interaction picture for a quantum system in the $q$-deformed Euclidean space and a discussion of a $q$-version of time-dependent perturbation …
In order to realize supersymmetric quantum mechanics methods on a four dimensional classical phase-space, the complexified Clifford algebra of this space is extended by deforming it with the Moyal star-product in composing the components of Clifford forms. Two isospectral matrix Hamiltonians having a common bosonic part but different fermionic parts depending on four real-valued phase space functions are obtained. The Hamiltonians are doubly intertwined via matrix-valued functions which are divisors of zero in the resulting Moyal-Clifford algebra. Two illustrative examples corresponding to Jay…
Deformed Heisenberg algebra with reflection appeared in the context of Wigner's generalized quantization schemes underlying the concept of parafields and parastatistics of Green, Volkov, Greenberg and Messiah. We review the application of this algebra for the universal description of ordinary spin-$j$ and anyon fields in 2+1 dimensions, and discuss the intimate relation between parastatistics and supersymmetry.
The unified $ (p,q; α,γ, l)$-deformation of a number of well-known deformed oscillator algebras is introduced. The deformation is constructed by imputing new free parameters into the structure functions and by generalizing the defining relations of these algebras. The generalized Jordan-Schwinger and Holstein-Primakoff realizations of the $U_{pq}^{αγl}(su(2))$ algebra by the generalized $ (p,q; α,γ, l)$-deformed operators are found. The generalized $ (p,q; α,γ, l)$-deformation of the two-dimensional conformal field theory is established. By introducing the $ (p,q; α,γ, l)$-operator product expa…
We show here that besides the well known Hermite polynomials, the q-deformed harmonic oscillator algebra admits another function space associated to a particular family of q-polynomials, namely the Rogers-Szego polynomials. Their main properties are presented, the associated Wigner function is calculated and its properties are discussed. It is shown that the angle probability density obtained from the Wigner function is a well-behaved function defined in the interval [-Pi,Pi), while the action probability only assumes integer values greater or equal than zero. It is emphasized the fact that th…
We first introduce the Wigner-Weyl-Moyal formalism for a theory whose phase-space is an arbitrary Lie algebra. We also generalize to quantum Lie algebras and to supersymmetric theories. It turns out that the non-commutativity leads to a deformation of the classical phase-space: instead of being a vector space it becomes a manifold, the topology of which is given by the commutator relations. It is shown in fact that the classical phase-space, for a semi-simple Lie algebra, becomes a homogenous symplectic manifold. The symplectic product is also deformed. We finally make some comments on how to …
Dito and Turrubiates recently introduced an interesting model of the dissipative quantum mechanics of a damped harmonic oscillator in phase space. Its key ingredient is a non-Hermitian deformation of the Moyal star product with the damping constant as deformation parameter. We compare the Dito-Turrubiates scheme with phase-space quantum mechanics (or deformation quantization) based on other star products, and extend it to incorporate Wigner functions. The deformed (or damped) star product is related to a complex Hamiltonian, and so necessitates a modified equation of motion involving complex c…
Electron-positron pair production from vacuum in external electric fields with space and time dependencies is studied numerically using real time Dirac-Heisenberg-Wigner formalism. The influence of spatial focusing scale of the electric field on momentum distribution and the total yield of the particles is examined by considering standing wave mode of the electric field with different temporal configurations. With the decrease of spatial extent of the external field, signatures of the temporal field are weaken in the momentum spectrum. Moreover, in the extremely small spatial extent, novel fea…

Using general construction of star-product the q-deformed Wigner-Weyl-Moyal quantization procedure is elaborated. The q-deformed Groenewold kernel determining the product of quantum observables is given in explicit form for small nonlinearities corresponding to nonlinear vibrations of classical and quantum q-oscillators. The deformations of Groenewold kernel related to general kinds of nonlinear vibrations described by f-oscillators are considered.
We present a general method by which linear quantum Hamiltonian dynamics with exponentially many degrees of freedom is replaced by approximate classical nonlinear dynamics with the number of degrees of freedom (phase space dimensionality) scaling polynomially in the system size. This method is based on generalization of the truncated Wigner approximation (TWA) to a higher dimensional phase space, where phase space variables are associated with a complete set of quantum operators spanning finite size clusters. The method becomes asymptotically exact with the increasing cluster size. The crucial…
The algebra of generalized linear quantum canonical transformations is examined in the prespective of Schwinger's unitary-canonical basis. Formulation of the quantum phase problem within the theory of quantum canonical transformations and in particular with the generalized quantum action-angle phase space formalism is established and it is shown that the conceptual foundation of the quantum phase problem lies within the algebraic properties of the quantum canonical transformations in the quantum phase space. The representations of the Wigner function in the generalized action-angle unitary ope…
The formulation of the no-cloning theorem in the framework of phase-space noncommutative (NC) quantum mechanics (QM) is examined, and its implications for the computation of quantum cloning probabilities and teleportation fidelity are investigated through the Weyl-Wigner formulation of QM. The principles of QM re-edited in terms of a deformed Heisenberg-Weyl algebra are shown to provide a covariant formulation for the quantum fidelity, through which the results from the no-cloning theorem for the ordinary QM can be reproduced. Besides exhibiting an explicit correspondence between standard and …
