We investigate effects of staggered magnetic field on thermal entanglement in the anisotropic XY model. The analytic results of entanglement for the two-site cases are obtained. For the general case of even sites, we show that when the anisotropic parameter is zero, the entanglement in the XY model with a staggered magnetic field is the same as that with a uniform magnetic field.
We investigate how the interplay between a staggered magnetic field and staggered coupling strength affects both ground state and thermal entanglement. Upon analytically calculating thermodynamic quantities and the correlation functions for such a system, we consider both the global Meyer-Wallach measure of entanglement and the concurrence between pairs of spins. We discover two quantum phase transitions present in the model and show that the quantum phase transitions are reflected in the behaviour of the entanglement at zero temperature. We discover that increasing the alternating field and a…
We study the dynamics of entanglement in the XY spin chain subject to a staggered magnetic field and contrast it to the previously studied uniform field case. We find that, depending on parameter values, a staggered field can provide better conditions for a perfect entanglement transfer, while even a modest amount of exchange anisotropy appears to have a strong detrimental effect. We also study interactions between different waves of entanglement and assess the possibility of simultaneous transmission of multiple bits of quantum information.
We investigate macroscopic entanglement in an infinite XX spin-1/2 chain with staggered magnetic field, B_l=B+e^{-iπl}b. Using single-site entropy and by constructing an entanglement witness, we search for the existence of entanglement when the system is at absolute zero, as well as in thermal equilibrium. Although the role of the alternating magnetic field b is, in general, to suppress entanglement as do B and T, we find that when T=0, introducing b allows the existence of entanglement even when the uniform magnetic field B is arbitrarily large. We find that the region and the amount of entan…
We study the quantum entanglement and quantum phase transition (QPT) of the anisotropic spin-1/2 XY model with staggered Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction by means of quantum renormalization group method. The scaling of coupling constants and the critical points of the system are obtained. It is found that when the number of renormalization group iterations tends to infinity, the system exhibit a QPT between the spin-fluid and Néel phases which corresponds with two saturated values of the concurrence for a given value of the strength of DM interaction. The DM interaction can enhance the e…
The effects of multi-impurity on the entanglement of anisotropic Heisenberg ring XXZ under a homogeneous magnetic field have been studied. The impurities make the equal pairwise entanglement in a ring compete with each other so that the pairwise entanglement exhibits oscillation. If the impurities are of larger couplings, both the critical temperature and pairwise entanglement can be improved
We solve the eigenvalue problem of the five-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg model, without use of Bethe's Ansatz, and give analytical results for entanglement and mixedness of two nearest-neighbor qubits. The entanglement takes its maximum at Delta= (Delta>1) for the case of zero (finite) temperature with Delta being the anisotropic parameter. In contrast, the mixedness takes its minimum at Delta=1 (Delta>1) for the case of zero (finite) temperature.
The quantum entanglement dynamics of a one-dimensional spin-1/2 anisotropic XXZ model is studied using the method of the adaptive time-dependent density-matrix renormalization-group when two cases of quenches are performed in the system. An anisotropic interaction quench and the maximum number of domain walls of staggered magnetization quench are considered. The dynamics of pairwise entanglement between the nearest two qubits in the spin chain is investigated. The entanglement of the two-spin qubits can be created and oscillates in both cases of the quench. The anisotropic interaction has a st…
We compute the asymptotic entanglement capacity of the Ising interaction ZZ, the anisotropic Heisenberg interaction XX + YY, and more generally, any two-qubit Hamiltonian with canonical form K = a XX + b YY. We also describe an entanglement assisted classical communication protocol using the Hamiltonian K with rate equal to the asymptotic entanglement capacity.
The photon-pairs generated through spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) possess strong correlations in their transverse position and momentum degrees of freedom. For such photon pairs, the transverse position correlation length depends on the crystal thickness and the pump wavelength, whereas the transverse momentum correlation length depends on the beam waist and spatial coherence length of the pump. By controlling these parameters, it is possible to engineer the spatial entanglement. Here, we utilize the circular asymmetry of the pump by using an elliptical-Gaussian beam to change t…
The time evolution of the entanglement of a pair of two spin qubits is investigated when the two qubits simultaneously couple to an environment of an anisotropic Heisenberg XXZ spin chain. The entanglement of the two spin qubits can be created and is a periodic function of the time if the magnetic field is greater than a critical value. If the two spin qubits are in the Bell state, the entanglement can be stored with relatively large value even when the magnetic field is large.
In the present paper we study two qubit entanglement in the most general $XYZ$ Heisenberg magnetic chain with (non)homogeneous magnetic fields and the DM anisotropic antisymmetric exchange interaction, arising from the spin-orbit coupling . The model includes all known results as particular cases, for both antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic $XX, XY, XXX, XXZ, XYZ$ chains. The concurrence of two qubit thermal entanglement and its dependence on anisotropic parameters, external magnetic field and temperature are studied in details. We found that in all cases, inclusion of the DM interaction, whi…
Thermal entanglement of a two-qubit Heisenberg chain in presence of the Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) anisotropic antisymmetric interaction and entanglement teleportation when using two independent Heisenberg chains as quantum channel are investigated. It is found that the DM interaction can excite the entanglement and teleportation fidelity. The output entanglement increases linearly with increasing value of input one, its dependences on the temperature, DM interaction and spin coupling constant are given in detail. Entanglement teleportation will be better realized via antiferromagnetic spin cha…
We show that the wave packet of a biphoton generated via spontaneous parametric down conversion is strongly anisotropic. Its anisotropic features manifest themselves very clearly in comparison of measurements performed in two different schemes: when the detector scanning plane is perpendicular or parallel to the plane containing the crystal optical axis and the laser axis. The first of these two schemes is traditional whereas the second one gives rise to such unexpected new results as anomalously strong narrowing of the biphoton wave packet measured in the coincidence scheme and very high degr…
The thermal entanglement is investigated in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ system with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. It is shown that the entanglement can be efficiently controlled by the DM interaction parameter and coupling coefficient $J_{z}$. $D_{x}$(the x-component parameter of the DM interaction) has a more remarkable influence on the entanglement and the critical temperature than $D_{z}$(the z-component parameter of the DM interaction). Thus, by the change of DM interaction direction, we can get a more efficient control parameter to increase the entanglement and the critical tempe…
Analytical expressions for the entanglement measures concurrence, i-concurrence and 3-tangle in terms of spin correlation functions are derived using general symmetries of the quantum spin system. These relations are exploited for the one-dimensional XXZ-model, in particular the concurrence and the critical temperature for disentanglement are calculated for finite systems with up to six qubits. A recent NMR quantum error correction experiment is analyzed within the framework of the proposed theoretical approach.
In the present paper an influence of the anisotropic antisymmetric exchange interaction, the Dzialoshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction, on entanglement of two qubits in various magnetic spin models, including the pure DM model and the most general XYZ model are studied. We find that the time evolution generated by DM interaction can implement the SWAP gate and discuss realistic quasi-one-dimensional magnets where it can be realized. It is shown that inclusion of the DM interaction to any Heisenberg model creates, when it does not exist, or strengthens, when it exists, the entanglement. We give ph…
We have applied our recent approach (Kargarian, et.al Phys. Rev. A 76, 60304 (R) (2007)) to study the quantum information properties of the anisotropic s=1/2 Heisenberg chain. We have investigated the underlying quantum information properties like the evolution of concurrence, entanglement entropy, nonanalytic behaviours and the scaling close to the quantum critical point of the model. Both the concurrence and the entanglement entropy develop two saturated values after enough iterations of the renormalization of coupling constants. This values are associated with the two different phases, i.e …
We investigate the entanglement in a two-qubit Heisenberg XYZ system with different Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya(DM) interaction and inhomogeneous magnetic field. It is found that the control parameters ($D_{x}$, $B_{x}$ and $b_{x}$) are remarkably different with the common control parameters ($D_{z}$,$B_{z}$ and $b_{z}$) in the entanglement and the critical temperature, and these x-component parameters can increase the entanglement and the critical temperature more efficiently. Furthermore, we show the properties of these x-component parameters for the control of entanglement. In the ground state, i…
The thermal entanglement of a two-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg $XYZ$ chain under an inhomogeneous magnetic field b is studied. It is shown that when inhomogeneity is increased to certain value, the entanglement can exhibit a larger revival than that of less values of b. The property is both true for zero temperature and a finite temperature. The results also show that the entanglement and critical temperature can be increased by increasing inhomogeneous exteral magnetic field.
The long-range entanglement dynamics of an one-dimensional spin-1/2 anisotropic XXZ model are studied using the method of the adaptive time-dependent density-matrix renormalization-group. The long-range entanglement can be generated when a local quench on one of boundary bonds is performed in the system. The anisotropic interaction has a strong influence both on the maximal value of long-range entanglement and the time of reaching the maximum long-range entanglement. The local coupling has a notable impact on the long-range entanglement, but it can be neglected in the time of reaching the maxi…
The thermal quantum discord (QD) is studied in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ system with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We compare the thermal QD with thermal entanglement in this system and find remarkable differences between them. For instance, we show situations where QD decreases asymptotically to zero with temperature $T$ while entanglement decreases to zero at the point of critical temperature, situations where QD decreases with certain tunable parameters such as $D_z$ and $D_x$ when entanglement increases. We find that the characteristic of QD is exotic in this system and this pos…
The occupancies and entropic entanglement measures for the ground state of two particles in a two-dimensional harmonic anisotropic trap are studied. We implement a method to study the large interaction strength limit for different short- and long-range interaction potentials that allows to obtain the exact entanglement spectrum and several entropies. We show that for long-range interactions, the von Neumann, min-entropy and the family of Rényi entropies remain finite for the anisotropic traps and diverge logarithmically for the isotropic traps. In the short-range interaction case the entanglem…
Quantum Steering vs Entanglement and Extracting Work in an Anisotropic Two-Qubit Heisenberg Model in Presence of External Magnetic Fields with DM and KSEA Interactions
Entanglement is considered as a basic physical resource for modern quantum applications in Quantum Information and Quantum Computation theories. Atoms, ions or quantum dots are considered a key piece in quantum applications because is a basic piece of developments towards a scalable spin-based quantum computer through universal and basic quantum operations. Ising model is a type of interaction which generates and modifies enta…
We study the effect of space anisotropy in the entanglement generated by expanding universe on spin 0 and 1/2 fields. For massive scalar field we find revivals of entanglement entropy vs momentum after decreasing from the maximum at k = 0. In massive Dirac field the effect is a slight distortion of the non-monotonic profile giving rise to the maximum of entanglement entropy at k > 0. More interestingly, massless field of both type can only get entangled through anisotropy, with a maximum of entanglement entropy occurring at k > 0.
Quantum entanglement, induced by spatial noncommutativity, is investigated for an anisotropic harmonic oscillator. Exact solutions for the system are obtained after the model is re-expressed in terms of canonical variables, by performing a particular Bopp's shift to the noncommuting degrees of freedom. Employing Simon's separability criterion, we find that the states of the system are entangled provided a unique function of the (mass and frequency) parameters obeys an inequality. Entanglement of Formation for this system is also computed and its relation to the degree of anisotropy is discusse…
The quantum renormalization group method is applied to study the quantum criticality and entanglement entropy of the ground state of the Ising chain in the presence of antisymmetric anisotropic couplings and alternating exchange interactions. The quantum phase transitions can be characterized by the discontinuity in the second derivative of the energy of renormalized ground state. The phase diagram is obtained by the critical boundary line. The first derivative of entanglement entropy also diverges at the same critical points after enough iterations of the renormalization of coupling constants…
We discuss entanglement in the spin-1/2 anisotropic ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain in the presence of a boundary magnetic field generating domain walls. By increasing the magnetic field, the model undergoes a first-order quantum phase transition from a ferromagnetic to a kink-type phase, which is associated to a jump in the content of entanglement available in the system. Above the critical point, pairwise entanglement is shown to be non-vanishing and independent of the boundary magnetic field for large chains. Based on this result, we provide an analytical expression for the entanglement betw…
Control of quantum entanglement has been considered as elemental physical resource for quantum applications in Quantum Information and Quantum Computation. Control of entangled states on a couple of atoms, ions or quantum dots are milestones in almost all quantum applications towards a scalable spin-based quantum computers or quantum devices. For magnetic systems, Ising model is an interaction which generates and modifies entanglement properties of quantum systems based on matter. In addition, when this interaction includes driven magnetic fields, it can be controlled to sustain, characterize …
We present a study of entanglement in the case of the 1D extended anisotropic Heisenberg model. We investigate two quantum phase transitions (QPTs) within the previously found ergodicity phase diagram [E. Plekhanov, A. Avella, and F. Mancini Phys. Rev. B \textbf{74}, 115120 (2006)]. Our calculations are done by means of the numerically exact Lanczos method at T=0, followed by a finite-size scaling. As a measure of entanglement we use the concurrence for two spins out of the system. We conclude from our studies that these QPTs are accompanied by a qualitative entanglement change.
Using group-theoretical approach we found a family of four nine-parameter quantum states for the two-spin-1/2 Heisenberg system in an external magnetic field and with multiple components of Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) and Kaplan-Shekhtman-Entin-Wohlman-Aharony (KSEA) interactions. Exact analytical formulas are derived for the entanglement of formation for the quantum states found. The influence of DM and KSEA interactions on the behavior of entanglement and on the shape of disentangled region is studied. A connection between the two-qubit quantum states and the reduced density matrices of many-p…
We investigate the reduced dimensionality of highly anisotropic Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) in connection to the entanglement between its spatial degrees of freedom. We argue that the reduced-dimensionality of the BEC is physically meaningful in a regime where spatial correlations are negligible. We handle the problem analytically within the mean-field approximation for general quasi-one-dimensional and -two-dimensional geometries, and obtain the optimal reduced-dimension, pure-state description of the condensate mean field. We give explicit solutions to the case of harmonic potentials, w…
Quantum evolution of a two-spin system with anisotropic Heisenberg Hamiltonian in the magnetic field is considered. We show that this evolution happens on some manifold with geometry depending on the ratio between the interaction couplings and on the initial state. The Fubini-Study metric of this manifold is calculated. The entanglement of the states belonging to this manifold is examined. Also we investigate similar problem for a two-spin system described by the Dzyaloshinsky-Moria Hamiltonian. The problem is solved using the fact that this Hamiltonian and the anisotropic Heisenberg Hamiltoni…
We examine the pair entanglement in the ground state of finite dimerized spin-$s$ chains interacting through anisotropic $XY$ couplings immersed in a transverse magnetic field, by means of a self-consistent pair mean field approximation. The approach, which makes no a priori assumptions on the pair states, predicts, for sufficiently low coupling between pairs, $2s$ distinct dimerized phases for increasing fields below the pair factorizing field, separated by spin parity breaking phases. The dimerized phases lead to approximate magnetization and pair entanglement plateaus, while the parity brea…
We study the thermal entanglement in the two-qubit anisotropic XXZ model and the Heisenberg model with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interactions. The DM interaction is another kind of anisotropic antisymmetric exchange interaction. The effects of these two kinds of anisotropies on the thermal entanglement are studied in detail for both the antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic cases.
High-precision gyroscopes are a key component of inertial navigation systems. By considering matter wave gyroscopes that make use of entanglement it should be possible to gain some advantages in terms of sensitivity, size, and resources used over unentangled optical systems. In this paper we consider the details of such a quantum-enhanced atom interferometry scheme based on atoms trapped in a carefully-chosen rotating trap. We consider all the steps: entanglement generation, phase imprinting, and read-out of the signal and show that quantum enhancement should be possible in principle. While th…
We investigate the emergence of three-dimensional behavior in a reduced-dimension Bose-Einstein condensate trapped by a highly anisotropic potential. We handle the problem analytically by performing a perturbative Schmidt decomposition of the condensate wave function between the tightly confined (transverse) direction(s) and the loosely confined (longitudinal) direction(s). The perturbation theory is valid when the nonlinear scattering energy is small compared to the transverse energy scales. Our approach provides a straightforward way, first, to derive corrections to the transverse and longit…
We compute concurrence and negativity as measures of two-site entanglement generated by a power-law quench (characterized by a rate 1/tau and an exponent alpha) which takes an anisotropic XY chain in a transverse field through a quantum critical point (QCP). We show that only the even-neighbor pairs of sites get entangled in such a process. Moreover, there is a critical rate of quench, 1/tau_c, above which no two-site entanglement is generated; the entire entanglement is multipartite. The ratio of the two-site entanglements between consecutive even neighbors can be tuned by changing the quench…
We study quantum communication through an anisotropic Heisenberg XY chain in a transverse magnetic field. We find that for some time $t$ and anisotropy parameter $γ$, one can transfer a state with a relatively high fidelity. In the strong-field regime, the anisotropy does not significantly affect the fidelity while in the weak-field regime the affect is quite pronounced. The most interesting case is the the intermediate regime where the oscillation of the fidelity with time is low and the high-fidelity peaks are relatively broad. This would, in principle, allow for quantum communication in rea…
The decoherence of quantum correlation is investigated in the Heisenberg spin system with the asymmetric anisotropic interactions. The quantum entanglement and discord are used to quantify the quantumness of the correlations. By the analytical and numerical methods, we find that quantum discord decays asymptotically in time under the effects of the independent local Markovian reservoirs. This is markedly different from the sudden change of the entanglement. Before the disappearance of the entanglement, the dynamic behaviour of quantum discord is very similar to that of the entanglement. It is …
The effects of initial conditions and system parameters on entanglement dynamics and asymptotic entanglement for a two-qubit anisotropic XY Heisenberg system in the presence of an inhomogeneous magnetic field and spin-orbit interaction are investigated. We suppose that each qubit interacts with a separate thermal reservoir which is held in its own temperature. The effects of the parameters of the system and environment like spin-orbit interaction and temperature difference of reservoirs are also discussed.
The bi-partite Gaussian state, corresponding to an anisotropic harmonic oscillator in a noncommutative-space, is investigated with the help of the Simon's separability condition (generalized Peres-Horodecki criterion). It turns out that, in order to exhibit the entanglement between the noncommutative co-ordinates, the parameters (mass and frequency) have to satisfy an unique constraint equation. Exact solutions for the system are obtained after diagonalizing the model, keeping the intrinsic symplectic structure intact. It is shown that, the identification of the entangled degrees of freedom is…
The role of spin-orbit interaction, arises from the Dzyaloshinski-Moriya anisotropic antisymmetric interaction, on the entanglement transfer via an antiferromagnetic XXZ Heisenberg chain is investigated. From symmetrical point of view, the XXZ Hamiltonian with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction can be replaced by a modified XXZ Hamiltonian which is defined by a new exchange coupling constant and rotated Pauli operators. The modified coupling constant and the angle of rotations are depend on the strength of Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction. In this paper we study the dynamical behavior of the ent…
We determine thermal entanglement in mean field clusters of $N$ spin one-half particles interacting via the anisotropic Heisenberg interaction, with and without external magnetic field. For the $xxx$ cluster in the absence of magnetic field we prove that only the N=2 ferromagnetic cluster shows entanglement. An external magnetic field $B$ can only entangle $xxx$ anti-ferromagnetic clusters in certain regions of the $B-T$ plane. On the other hand, the $xxz$ clusters of size $N>2$ are entangled only when the interaction is ferromagnetic. Detailed dependence of the entanglement on various paramet…
We study the mean-field dynamics and the reduced-dimension character of two-mode Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) in highly anisotropic traps. By means of perturbative techniques, we show that the tightly confined (transverse) degrees of freedom can be decoupled from the dynamical equations at the expense of introducing additional effective three-body, attractive, intra- and inter-mode interactions into the dynamics of the loosely confined (longitudinal) degrees of freedom. These effective interactions are mediated by changes in the transverse wave function. The perturbation theory is valid as…
Exact-diagonalization calculations for N=3 electrons in anisotropic quantum dots, covering a broad range of confinement anisotropies and strength of inter-electron repulsion, are presented for zero and low magnetic fields. The excitation spectra are analyzed as a function of the strength of the magnetic field and for increasing quantum-dot anisotropy. Analysis of the intrinsic structure of the many-body wave functions through spin-resolved two-point correlations reveals that the electrons tend to localize forming Wigner molecules. For certain ranges of dot parameters (mainly at strong anisotro…
We consider a finite two-dimensional Heisenberg triangular spin lattice at different degrees of anisotropy coupled to a dissipative Lindblad environment obeying the Born-Markovian constrain at finite temperature. We show how applying an inhomogeneous magnetic field to the system may significantly affect the entanglement distribution and properties among the spins in the asymptotic steady state of the system. Particularly, applying an inhomogeneous field with an inward (growing) gradient toward the central spin is found to considerably enhance the nearest neighbor entanglement and its robustnes…
We study the multi-spin entanglement for the 1D anisotropic XY model concentrating on the simplest case of three-spin entanglement. As compared to the pairwise entanglement, three-party quantum correlations have a longer range and they are more robust on increasing the temperature. We find regions of the phase diagram of the system where bound entanglement occurs, both at zero and finite temperature. Bound entanglement in the ground state can be obtained by tuning the magnetic field. Thermal bound entanglement emerges naturally due to the effect of temperature on the free ground state entangle…
We investigate a class of one-dimensional, exactly solvable anisotropic XY spin-1/2 models in an alternating transverse magnetic field from an entanglement perspective. We find that a physically motivated Lie-algebraic generalized entanglement measure faithfully portraits the static phase diagram -- including second- and fourth-order quantum phase transitions belonging to distinct universality classes. In the simplest time-dependent scenario of a slow quench across a quantum critical point, we identify parameter regimes where entanglement exhibits universal dynamical scaling relative to the st…
