The tomographic probability distribution is used to decribe the kinetic equations for open quantum systems. Damped oscillator is studied. Purity parameter evolution for different damping regime is considered.
We discuss the possibility to formulate the dynamics of spin states described by the Schrodinger equation for pure states and the von Neumann equation (as well as the GKSL equation) for mixed states in the form of quantum kinetic equations for probability distributions. We review an approach to the spin-state description by means of the probability distributions of dichotomic random variables.
Statistical properties of classical random process are considered in tomographic representation. The Radon integral transform is used to construct the tomographic form of kinetic equations. Relation of probability density on phase space for classical systems with tomographic probability distributions is elucidated. Examples of simple kinetic equations like Liouville equations for one and many particles are studied in detail.
In the limit of large quantum excitations, the classical and quantum probability distributions for a Schrödinger equation can be compared by using the corresponding WKBJ solutions whose rapid oscillations are averaged. This result is extended for one-dimensional Hamiltonians with a non-usual kinetic part. The validity of the approach is tested with a Hamiltonian containing a relativistic kinetic energy operator.
In this paper, we introduce the Schrodinger equation with a general kinetic energy operator. The conservation law is proved and the probability continuity equation is deducted in a general sense. Examples with a Hermitian kinetic energy operator include the standard Schrodinger equation, the relativistic Schrodinger equation, the fractional Schrodinger equation, the Dirac equation, and the deformed Schrodinger equation. We reveal that the Klein-Gordon equation has a hidden non-Hermitian kinetic energy operator. The probability continuity equation with sources indicates that there exists a diff…
We consider the propagation of light in a random medium of two-level atoms. We investigate the dynamics of the field and atomic probability amplitudes for a two-photon state and show that at long times and large distances, the corresponding average probability densities can be determined from the solutions to a system of kinetic equations.
We introduce a generalized Lagrangian density - involving a non-Hermitian kinetic term - for a quantum particle with the generalized momentum operator. Upon variation of the Lagrangian, we obtain the corresponding Schrödinger equation. The extended probability and particle current densities are found which satisfy the continuity equation.
The probability representation of states in standard quantum mechanics where the quantum states are associated with fair probability distributions (instead of wave function or density matrix) is shortly commented and bibliography related to the probability representation is given.
Several finite dimensional quasi-probability representations of quantum states have been proposed to study various problems in quantum information theory and quantum foundations. These representations are often defined only on restricted dimensions and their physical significance in contexts such as drawing quantum-classical comparisons is limited by the non-uniqueness of the particular representation. Here we show how the mathematical theory of frames provides a unified formalism which accommodates all known quasi-probability representations of finite dimensional quantum systems. Moreover, we…
This article comprises a review of both the quasi-probability representations of infinite-dimensional quantum theory (including the Wigner function) and the more recently defined quasi-probability representations of finite-dimensional quantum theory. We focus on both the characteristics and applications of these representations with an emphasis toward quantum information theory. We discuss the recently proposed unification of the set of possible quasi-probability representations via frame theory and then discuss the practical relevance of negativity in such representations as a criteria for qu…
We introduce the probability distributions describing quantum observables in conventional quantum mechanics and clarify their relations to the tomographic probability distributions describing quantum states. We derive the evolution equation for quantum observables (Heisenberg equation) in the probability representation and give examples of the spin-1/2 (qubit) states and the spin observables. We present quantum channels for qubits in the probability representation.
Using the known possibility to associate the completely positive maps with density matrices and recent results on expressing the density matrices with sets of classical probability distributions of dichotomic random variables we construct the probability representation of the completely positive maps. In this representation, any completely positive map of qudit state density matrix is identified with the set of classical coin probability distributions. Examples of the maps of qubit states are studied in detail. The evolution equation of quantum states is written in the form of the classical-li…
Probability representation entropy (tomographic entropy) of arbitrary quantum state is introduced. Using the properties of spin tomogram to be standard probability distribution function the tomographic entropy notion is discussed. Relation of the tomographic entropy to Shannon entropy and von Neumann entropy is elucidated.
The contextuality and noncontextuality notions are considered in framework of probability representation of quantum states. Example of qutrit states and violation of the noncontextuality inequalities are presented by using the spin tomogram and tomographic symbols of the observables.
Relations between Hamiltonian mechanics and quantum mechanics are studied. It is stressed that classical mechanics possesses all the specific features of quantum theory: operators, complex variables, probabilities (in case of ergodic systems). The Planck constant and the Fock space appear after putting a dynamical system in a thermal bath. For harmonic oscillator in a thermal bath, the probability amplitudes can be identified with the complex valued phase functions $f(q+ip)$ describing small deviations from the equilibrium state, when the time of relaxation is large. A chain of such oscillator…
The evolution equation for the propagator of the quantum system in the optical probability representation (optical propagator) is obtained. The relations between the optical and quantum propagators for the Schrödinger equation and the optical propagator of an arbitrary quadratic system are found explicitly.
Description of system containing classical and quantum subsystems by means of tomographic probability distributions is considered. Evolution equation of the system states is studied.
We give a review of the tomographic probability representation of quantum mechanics. We present the formalism of quantum states and quantum observables using the formalism of standard probability distributions and classical-like random variables. We study the coherent and number states of photons in the probability representation and obtain the evolution equation and energy spectra in the form of equations for probability distributions.
The quasidistributions corresponding to the diagonal representation of quantum states are discussed within the framework of operator-symbol construction. The tomographic-probability distribution describing the quantum state in the probability representation of quantum mechanics is reviewed. The connection of the diagonal and probability representations is discussed. The superposition rule is considered in terms of the density-operator symbols. The separability and entanglement properties of multipartite quantum systems are formulated as the properties of the density-operator symbols of the sys…

We show that the central finite difference formula for the first and the second derivative of a function can be derived, in the context of quantum mechanics, as matrix elements of the momentum and kinetic energy operators using, as a basis set, the discrete coordinate eigenkets $\vert x_n\rangle$ defined on the uniform grid $x_n=na$. Simple closed form expressions of the matrix elements are obtained starting from integrals involving the canonical commutation rule. A detailed analysis of the convergence toward the continuum limit with respect to both the grid spacing and the approximation order…
We introduce a generalized Lagrangian density - involving a non-Hermitian kinetic term - for a quantum particle with the generalized momentum operator. Upon variation of the Lagrangian, we obtain the corresponding Schrodinger equation. The extended probability and particle current densities are found which satisfy the continuity equation.
A remarkable quantitative agreement is found between the non-Markovian quantum kinetic approach and the time-dependent Dirac equation approach for a large region of Keldysh parameter, in the investigation of electron-positron pair production in the electric fields which is spatially homogeneous and envelope pulse shaped. If a sub-critical bound potential is immersed in this background field, the TDDE results show that the creation probability will be enhanced by the bound states resonance by two orders of magnitude. We also establish a computing resources greatly saved TDDE formalism for spati…
We present systematic proofs of statements about probability representations of qudit density states in terms of standard probability distributions of dichotomic random variables. New relations and new entropic-information inequalities are derived. The examples of 3- and 4- level states are explicitly worked out.
Specific nonequilibrium states of the quantum harmonic oscillator described by the Lindblad equation have been hereby suggested. This equation makes it possible to determine time-varying effects produced by statistical operator or statistical matrix. Thus, respective representation-varied equilibrium statistical matrixes have been found. Specific mean value equations have been found and their equilibrium solutions have been obtained.
We propose a general framework of quantum kinetic Monte Carlo algorithm, based on a stochastic representation of a series expansion of the quantum evolution. Two approaches have been developed in the context of quantum many-body spin dynamics, using different decomposition of the Hamiltonian. The effectiveness of the methods is tested for many-body spin systems up to 40 spins.
