We report measurements of the lifetimes of the 3d $^2$D$_{5/2}$ and 3d $^2$D$_{3/2}$ metastable states of a single laser-cooled $^{40}$Ca$^+$ ion in a linear Paul trap. We introduce a new measurement technique based on high-efficiency quantum state detection after coherent excitation to the D$_{5/2}$ state or incoherent shelving in the D$_{3/2}$ state, and subsequent free, unperturbed spontaneous decay. The result for the natural lifetime of the D$_{5/2}$ state of 1168(9) ms agrees excellently with the most precise published value. The lifetime of the D$_{3/2}$ state is measured with a single ion for the first time and yields 1176(11) ms which improves the statistical uncertainty of previous results by a factor of four. We compare these experimental lifetimes to high-precision ab initio all order calculations and find a very good agreement. These calculations represent an excellent test of high-precision atomic theory and will serve as a benchmark for the study of parity nonconservation in Ba$^+$ which has similar atomic structure.
We present a precise measurement of the lifetime of the 6p 2P_1/2 excited state of a single trapped ytterbium ion (Yb+). A time-correlated single-photon counting technique is used, where ultrafast pulses excite the ion and the emitted photons are coupled into a single-mode optical fiber. By performing the measurement on a single atom with fast excitation and excellent spatial filtering, we are able to eliminate common systematics. The lifetime of the 6p 2P_1/2 state is measured to be 8.12 +/- 0.02 ns.
We present experimental atomic lifetimes for 12 levels in Sb I, out of which seven are reported for the first time. The levels belong to the 5p$^2$($^3$P)6s $^{2}$P, $^{4}$P and 5p$^2$($^3$P)5d $^{4}$P, $^{4}$F and $^{2}$F terms. The lifetimes were measured using time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence. In addition, we report new calculations of transition probabilities in Sb I using a Multiconfigurational Dirac-Hartree-Fock method. The physical model being tested through comparisons between theoretical and experimental lifetimes for 5d and 6s levels. The lifetimes of the 5d $^4$F$_{3/2, 5/2,…
The thermal friction force acting on an atom moving relative to a thermal photon bath is known to be proportional to an integral over the imaginary part of the frequency-dependent atomic (dipole) polarizability. Using a numerical approach, we find that blackbody friction on atoms either in dilute environments or in hot ovens is larger than previously thought by orders of magnitude. This enhancement is due to far off-resonant driving of transitions by low-frequency thermal radiation. At typical temperatures, the blackbody radiation maximum lies far below the atomic transition wavelengths. Surpr…
We measure the lifetime of the 8s level on a magneto-optically trapped sample of ^{210}Fr atoms with time-correlated single-photon counting. The 7P_{1/2} state serves as the resonant intermediate level for two-photon excitation of the 8s level completed with a 1300 nm laser. Analysis of the fluorescence decay through the the 7P_{3/2} level gives 53.30 +- 0.44 ns for the 8s level lifetime.
Recently the lifetime of the excited $^{2}P_{1/2}$-state of S$^-$ was measured to be $503\pm 54$ s (Bäckström et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 114, 143003 (2015)). The earlier theoretical lifetime of $436$ s was clearly outside the experimental error bars. To investigate this discrepancy we have performed systematic and large-scale multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock calculations for this system. After including a careful treatment of correlation and relativistic effects, we predict a well-converged value of $492$ s for this lifetime, with an uncertainty considerably less than 1%, thereby removing th…
The 6s-np_j (n=6-9) electric-dipole matrix elements and 6s-nd_j (n=5-7) electric-quadrupole matrix elements in Ba+ are calculated using the relativistic all-order method. The resulting values are used to evaluate ground state dipole and quadrupole polarizabilities. In addition, the electric-dipole 6p_j-5d_j' matrix elements and magnetic-dipole 5d_{5/2}-5d_{3/2} matrix element are calculated using the same method in order to determine the lifetimes of the 6p_{1/2}, 6p_{3/2}, 5d_{3/2}, and 5d_{5/2} levels. The accuracy of the 6s-5d_j matrix elements is investigated in detail in order to estimate…
The results of ab initio calculation of E1 amplitudes, lifetimes, and polarizabilities for several low-lying levels of ytterbium are reported. The effective Hamiltonian for the valence electrons has been constructed in the frame of CI+MBPT method and solutions of many electron equation are found.
The atomic states of the W IX (W8+) tungsten ion lying below the W9+ ionisation threshold have been studied theoretically, employing the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock method with configuration interaction. The level electronic structures and their energies are presented. The electric dipole (E1), magnetic dipole (M1), electric quadrupole (E2), and magnetic quadrupole (M2) radiative transitions have been computed in order to calculate the radiative lifetimes of given states. Transition wavelengths, energies, and decay rates are also presented for selected high-intensity E1 transitions. …
The multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) model has been employed to calculate the transition rates between the nine lowest levels of radium. The dominant rates were then used to evaluate the radiative lifetimes. The decay of the metastable $ 7s7p ^3 P_0 $ state through 2-photon E1M1 and hyperfine induced channels is also studied.
The lifetimes of the $6d \ ^2D_{3/2}$ and $6d \ ^2D_{5/2}$ states in Fr are estimated to be 540(10) ns and 1704(32) ns respectively. They are determined by calculating the radiative transition amplitudes of the allowed electric dipole (E1) and the forbidden electric quadrupole (E2) and magnetic dipole (M1) channels using the second order many-body perturbation theory (MBPT(2)) and the coupled-cluster (CC) method at different levels of approximation in the relativistic framework. These long lifetimes and the large electric dipole parity non conserving amplitudes of $7s \ ^2S_{1/2} \rightarrow 6…
The lifetime of the 3d^2D_5/2-level in singly-ionized calcium has been measured by the electron-shelving technique on different samples of rf trapped ions. The metastable state has been directly populated by exciting the dipole-forbidden 4S_1/2 - 3D_5/2 transition. In ion clouds, the natural lifetime of this metastable level has been measured to be (1095+-27) ms. For the single-ion case, we determined a lifetime of (1152+-20) ms. The 1sigma-error bars at the 2%-level have different origins for the two kinds of experiments: data fitting methods for lifetime measurements in an ion cloud and cont…
We present a lifetime measurements of the 6s level of rubidium. We use a time-correlated single-photon counting technique on two different samples of rubidium atoms. A vapor cell with variable rubidium density and a sample of atoms confined and cooled in a magneto-optical trap. The 5P_{1/2} level serves as the resonant intermediate step for the two step excitation to the 6s level. We detect the decay of the 6s level through the cascade fluorescence of the 5P_{3/2} level at 780 nm. The two samples have different systematic effects, but we obtain consistent results that averaged give a lifetime …
We use the configuration interaction method and many-body perturbation theory to perform accurate calculations of energy levels, transition amplitudes, and lifetimes of low-lying states of barium and radium. Calculations for radium are needed for the planning of measurements of parity and time invariance violating effects which are strongly enhanced in this atom. Calculations for barium are used to control the accuracy of the calculations.
Lifetimes of the first two metastable states in Sc^{2+} and Y^{2+} are determined using the relativistic coupled-cluster theory. There is a considerable interest in studying the electron correlation effects in these ions as though their electronic configurations are similar to the neutral alkali atoms, their structures are very different from the latter. We have made a comparative study of the correlation trends between the above doubly ionized systems with their corresponding neutral and singly ionized iso-electronic systems. The lifetimes of the excited states of these ions are very importan…
We have calculated energy levels and lifetimes of 4f7 and 4f6 5d configurations of Gd IV using Hartree-Fock and configuration interaction methods. This allows us to reduce significantly the uncertainty of the theoretical determination of the electron electric dipole moment (EDM) enhancement factor in this ion and, correspondingly, in gadolinium-containing garnets for which such measurements were recently proposed. Our new value for the EDM enhancement factor of Gd+3 is -2.2 +- 0.5. Calculations of energy levels and lifetimes for Eu~III are used to control the accuracy.
We measure the lifetime of the cesium $5^2D_{5/2}$ state using a time-resolved single-photon-counting method. We excite atoms in a hot vapor cell via an electric quadrupole transition at a wavelength of $685\,\mathrm{nm}$ and record the fluorescence of a cascade decay at a wavelength of $852\,\mathrm{nm}$. We extract a lifetime of $1353(5)\,\mathrm{ns}$ for the $5^2D_{5/2}$ state, in agreement with a recent theoretical prediction. In particular, the observed lifetime is consistent with the literature values of the polarizabilities of the cesium $6P$ states. Our measurement contributes to resol…
Energy levels and radiative rates for transitions in five Br-like ions (Sr IV, Y V, Zr VI, Nb VII and Mo VIII) are calculated with the general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package ({\sc grasp}). Extensive configuration interaction has been included and results are presented among the lowest 31 levels of the 4s$^2$4p$^5$, 4s$^2$4p$^4$4d and 4s4p$^6$ configurations. Lifetimes for these levels have also been determined, although unfortunately no measurements are available with which to compare. However, recently theoretical results have been reported by Singh {\em et al} [Phys. Scr. {\bf…
Magnetic quadrupole and electric octupole transitions from the configurations $4p^54d^{N+1}$ and $4p^64d^{N-1}4f$ were calculated along with magnetic dipole, electric dipole and electric quadrupole radiative transitions in quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock approximation. Their significance in determining the metastable level radiative lifetimes was investigated along several isoelectronic sequences for the ions from $Z=50$ to $Z=92$. Strontium-like ions, zirconium-like ions, molybdenum-like ions and rhodium-like ions were studied comprehensively. Remaining isoelectronic sequences with the ground …
We present lifetime measurements of the 7S1/2 level and the 6p manifold of rubidium. We use a timecorrelated single-photon counting technique on a sample of 85Rb atoms confined and cooled in a magneto-optic trap. The upper state of the 5P1/2 repumping transition serves as the resonant intermediate level for twophoton excitation of the 7s level. A probe laser provides the second step of the excitation, and we detect the decay of atomic fluorescence to the 5P3/2 level at 741 nm. The decay process feeds the 6p manifold that decays to the 5s ground state emitting UV photons. We measure lifetimes o…
The intrinsic lifetime of the upper level in the bound-bound 3d$^9$4s$^2$ $^2$D$_{3/2}$ $\rightarrow$ 3d$^9$4s$^2$ $^2$D$_{5/2}$ radiative transition in Ni$^-$ was measured to be 15.1 $\pm$ 0.4 s. The experiment was performed at cryogenic temperatures in one of the ion-beam storage rings of the DESIREE (Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring Experiment) facility at Stockholm University. The storage lifetime of the Ni$^-$ ion-beam was measured to be close to five minutes at a ring temperature of 13 K.
We present extensive multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock and relativistic configuration interaction calculations including 106 states in doubly ionized silicon (Si III) and 45 states in triply ionized silicon (Si iv), which are important for astrophysical determination of plasma properties in different objects. These calculations represents an important extension and improvement of earlier calculations especially for Si IV. The calculations are in good agreement with available experiments for excitation energies, transition properties, and lifetimes. Important deviations from the NIST-databa…
Two different theoretical methods have been used to complete a new calculation of polarizability in the thallium 6p_{1/2}, 7s, and 7p_{1/2} states. The predictions of the two methods agree to within 1% for the 6p_{1/2} and 7s states and 2% for 7p_{1/2} state. We find that the theoretical expression for the 6p_{1/2} - 7s transition polarizability difference is dominated (greater than 90% contribution) by mixing of the 7s state with the 7p_{1/2} and 7p_{3/2} states. By comparing the theoretical expression to an existing Stark shift measurement [Doret et al., Phys. Rev. A 66, 052504 (2002)], new,…
We report lifetime measurements of the 6 levels in the 3d6(5D)4d e6G term in Fe ii at an energy of 10.4 eV, and f -values for 14 transitions from the investigated levels. The lifetimes were measured using time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence on ions in a laser-produced plasma. The high excitation energy, and the fact that the levels have the same parity as the the low-lying states directly populated in the plasma, necessitated the use of a two-photon excitation scheme. The probability for this process is greatly enhanced by the presence of the 3d6(5D)4p z6F levels at roughly half the energ…
We present a measurement of the branching fractions for decay from the long-lived $5D_{5/2}$ level in \Ba. The branching fraction for decay into the $6S_{1/2}$ ground state was found to be $0.846(25)_{\mathrm{stat}}(4)_{\mathrm{sys}}$. We also report an improved measurement of the $5D_{5/2}$ lifetime, $τ_{5D_{5/2}}=31.2(0.9)$~s. Together these measurements provide the first experimental determination of transition rates for decay out of the $5D_{5/2}$ level. The low ($<7 \times 10^{-12}$~Torr) pressure in the ion trap in which these measurements were made simplified data acquisition and analys…
Energies of 5l_j (l= s, p, d, f, g) and 4f_j states in neutral Ag and Ag-like ions with nuclear charges Z = 48 - 100 are calculated using relativistic many-body perturbation theory. Reduced matrix elements, oscillator strengths, transition rates and lifetimes are calculated for the 17 possible 5l_j-5l'_{j'} and 4f_j-5l_{j'} electric-dipole transitions. Third-order corrections to energies and dipole matrix elements are included for neutral Ag and for ions with Z<61. Second-order corrections are included for Z>60. Comparisons are made with available experimental data for transition energies and …
We estimate the range of the radiative lifetime and energy of the anomalous, low-energy $3/2^+(7.8 \pm 0.5$ eV) state in the $^{229}$Th nucleus. Our phenomenological calculations are based on the available experimental data for the intensities of $M1$ and $E2$ transitions between excited levels of the $^{229}$Th nucleus in the $K^π[Nn_ZΛ]=5/2^+[633]$ and $3/2^+[631]$ rotational bands. We also discuss the influence of certain branching coefficients, which affect the currently accepted measured energy of the isomeric state. From this work, we establish a favored region where the transition lifet…
The astrophysically important electric quadrupole (E2) and magnetic dipole (M1) transitions for the low-lying states of triply ionized titanium (Ti IV) are calculated very accurately using a state-of-art all-order many-body theory called Coupled Cluster (CC) theory in the relativistic frame-work. Different many-body correlations of the CC theory has been estimated by studying the core and valence electron excitations to the unoccupied states. The calculated excitation energies of different states are in very good agreement with the measurements. Also we compare our calculated electric dipole (…
To address the shortage of experimental data for electron spectra of triply-ionized rare earth elements we have calculated energy levels and lifetimes of 4f{n+1} and 4f{n}5d configurations of Nd IV (n=2), Pm IV (n=3), Sm IV (n=4), and Eu IV (n=5) using Hartree-Fock and configuration interaction methods. To control the accuracy of our calculations we also performed similar calculations for Pr III, Nd III and Sm III, for which experimental data are available. The results are important, in particular, for physics of magnetic garnets.
We discuss the role of the geometrical phase in predissociation dynamics of vibrational states near a conical intersection of two electronic potential surfaces of a D_{3h} molecule. For quantitative description of the predissociation driven by the coupling near a conical intersection, we developed a method for calculating lifetimes and positions of vibrational predissociated states (Feshbach resonances) for X_3 molecule. The method takes into account the two coupled three-body potential energy surfaces, which are degenerate at the intersection. As an example, we apply the method to obtain life…

Complete and consistent atomic data, including excitation energies, lifetimes, wavelengths, and E1, E2, M1 line strengths, oscillator strengths, and transition rates among these 318 levels are provided. Comparisons are made betw…
Tiny radiative losses below the 0.1% level can prove ruinous to the effective laser cooling of a molecule. In this paper the laser cooling of a hydride is studied with rovibronic detail using ab initio quantum chemistry in order to document the decays to all possible electronic states (not just the vibrational branching within a single electronic transition) and to identify the most populated final quantum states. The effect of spin-orbit and associated couplings on the properties of the lowest excited states of BaH are analysed in detail. The lifetimes of the A$^2Π_{1/2}$, H$^2Δ_{3/2}$ and E$…
Electric-dipole matrix elements for ns-n'p, nd-n'p, and 6d-4f transitions in Rb are calculated using a relativistic all-order method. A third-order calculation is also carried out for these matrix elements to evaluate the importance of the high-order many-body perturbation theory contributions. The all-order matrix elements are used to evaluate lifetimes of ns and np levels with n=6, 7, 8 and nd levels with n=4, 5, 6 for comparison with experiment and to provide benchmark values for these lifetimes. The dynamic polarizabilities are calculated for ns states of rubidium. The resulting lifetime a…
The first metastable triplet state of HeH$^+$ was found to be present in ion beam experiments, with its lifetime estimated to be between hundreds of milliseconds and thousand of seconds. In this work, we use {\it ab initio} methods to evaluate the radiative lifetimes of the six vibrational levels of the $a\ ^3Σ^+$ of HeH$^+$. The transition $a\ ^3Σ^+ \rightarrow X \ ^1Σ^+$ is spin-forbidden, but acquires intensity through spin-orbit interaction with the singlet and triplet $Π$ states. Large scale CASSCF/MRCI calculations using an adapted basis set were performed to determine the potential ener…
Energy levels and radiative rates are reported for transitions in Br-like W XL, calculated with the general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package ({\sc grasp}). Configuration interaction (CI) has been included among 46 configurations (generating 4215 levels) over a wide energy range up to 213 Ryd. However, for conciseness results are only listed for the lowest 360 levels (with energies up to $\sim$ 43 Ryd), which mainly belong to the 4s$^2$4p$^5$, 4s$^2$4p$^4$4d, 4s$^2$4p$^4$4f, 4s4p$^6$, 4p$^6$4d, 4s4p$^5$4d, 4s$^2$4p$^3$4d$^2$, and 4s$^2$4p$^3$4d4f configurations, and provided for fo…
Level-crossing spectroscopy involves lifting the degeneracy of an excited state and using the interference of two nearly degenerate levels to measure the excited state lifetime. Here we use the idea of interference between different pathways to study the momentum-dependent wave packet lifetime due an excited state level-crossing (conical intersection) in a molecule. Changes in population from the wave packet propagation are reflected in the detected fluorescence. We use a chirped pulse to control the wave packet momentum. Changing the chirp rate affects the transition to the lower state throug…
Using the inherent timing stability of pulses from a mode-locked laser, we have precisely measured the cesium $6P_{3/2}$ excited state lifetime. An initial pump pulse excites cesium atoms in two counter-propagating atomic beams to the $6P_{3/2}$ level. A subsequent synchronized probe pulse ionizes atoms which remain in the excited state, and the photo-ions are collected and counted. By selecting pump pulses which vary in time with respect to the probe pulses, we obtain a sampling of the excited state population in time, resulting in a lifetime value of 30.462(46) ns. The measurement uncertaint…
We present a combined experimental and theoretical study on the radiative lifetime of CO in the $a^3Π_{1,2}, v=0$ state. CO molecules in a beam are prepared in selected rotational levels of this metastable state, Stark-decelerated and electrostatically trapped. From the phosphorescence decay in the trap, the radiative lifetime is measured to be $2.63\pm0.03$ ms for the $a^3Π_1, v=0, J=1$ level. From spin-orbit coupling between the $a^3Π$ and the $A^1Π$ state a 20% longer radiative lifetime of 3.16 ms is calculated for this level. It is concluded that coupling to other $^1Π$ states contributes …
Recently, S. Aggarwal [Chin. Phys. B 23 (2014) 093203] reported energy levels, radiative rates and lifetimes for the lowest 60 levels belonging to the 2s$^2$2p$^5$, 2s2p$^6$ and 2s$^2$2p$^4$3$\ell$ configurations of F-like tungsten. There is no discrepancy for his calculated energies for the levels and the radiative rates for the limited number of E1 transitions, but the reported results for lifetimes are highly inaccurate. According to our calculations, errors in his reported lifetimes are up to 6 orders of magnitude for several levels. Here we report the correct lifetimes for future comparis…
Energies of ns[1/2] (n= 6-9), np[j] (n = 6-8), nd[j] (n= 6-7), and 5f[j] states in neutral Au and Au-like ions with nuclear charges Z = 80 - 83 are calculated using relativistic many-body perturbation theory. Reduced matrix elements, oscillator strengths, transition rates and lifetimes are determined for the 30 possible nl[j]-n'l'[j'] electric-dipole transitions. Results for a limited number states ns[1/2], np[j] (n= 6-7) and 6d[j] are obtained in the relativistic single-double (SD) approximation, where single and double excitations of Dirac-Fock wave functions are included to all orders in pe…
Recently, S. Aggarwal et al. [Chin. Phys. B 24 (2015) 053201] reported energy levels, radiative rates and lifetimes for the lowest 148 levels belonging to the 3s$^2$3p, 3s3p$^2$, 3s$^2$3d, 3s3p3d, 3p$^3$, 3p$^2$3d, 3s3d$^2$, 3p3d$^2$, and 3d$^3$ configurations of Al-like tungsten. While their calculated energies for the levels and the radiative rates for transitions are correct, the reported results for lifetimes are completely wrong. According to our calculations, errors in their reported lifetimes are up to 14 orders of magnitude for over 90\% of the levels. Here we report the correct lifeti…

Configuration interaction (CI) has been included among 44 configurations (generating 4978 levels) over a wide energy range up to 363 Ryd, and the general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package ({\sc grasp}) adopted for the calculations. Since no other results of comparable complexity are available, calculations have also been performed with the flexible atomic code ({\sc fac}), which help in assessing the accuracy of our results. Energies are listed for the lowest 400 levels (with energies up to $\sim$ 98…
The fully relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac--Hartree--Fock method is used to compute excitation energies and lifetimes for the 143 lowest states of the $3s^23p^3$, $3s3p^4$, $3s^23p^23d$, $3s3p^33d$, $3p^5$, $3s^23p3d^2$ configurations in P-like ions from Cr X to Zn XVI. Multipole (E1, M1, E2, M2) transition rates, line strengths, oscillator strengths, and branching fractions among these states are also given. Valence-valence and core-valence electron correlation effects are systematically accounted for using large basis function expansions. Computed excitation energies are compared with t…
Lifetime measurements using beam foil techniques for the $5s5p^{2}$ $^{2}D_{3/2,5/2}$ levels in Sn II are presented. The resulting oscillator strengths for transitions at 1699.4, 1831.8 and 1811.2 Å are reported. We also studied these levels with multi-configuration Dirac Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) calculations using a development version of the GRASP2K package. Our experimental and theoretical results are compared with other available studies.

To assess the accuracy of the MCDHF transition energies, we have also performed calculations using the many-body perturbation theory (MBPT). Comparisons are made between the present MCDHF and MBPT data sets, as well as with other available experimenta…

We have measured the trapping lifetime of magnetically trapped atoms in a cryogenic atom-chip experiment. An ultracold atomic cloud is kept at a fixed distance from a thin gold layer deposited on top of a superconducting trapping wire. The lifetime is studied as a function of the distances to the surface and to the wire. Different regimes are observed, where loss rate is determined either by the technical current noise in the wire or the Johnson-Nyquist noise in the metallic gold layer, in good agreement with theoretical predictions. Far from the surface, we observe exceptionally long trapping…
This work reports new experimental radiative lifetimes and calculated oscillator strengths for transitions from 3d8 4d levels of astrophysical interest in singly ionized nickel. Radiative lifetimes of seven high-lying levels of even parity in Ni II (98400 -100600 cm-1) have been measured using the time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence method. Two-step photon excitation of ions produced by laser ablation has been utilized to populate the levels. Theoretical calculations of the radiative lifetimes of the measured levels and transition probabilities from these levels are reported. The calculat…
We present lifetime measurements using beam-foil techniques for radiative transitions from the 3$p^4$($^1S$)4$s$ $^2S_{1/2}$, 3$p^4$($^3P$)5$s$ $^2P_{1/2,3/2}$, and 3$p^4$($^3P$)3$d$ $^2F_{5/2}$ levels in Cl I and the corresponding results of the oscillator strengths for transitions at 1004.68, 1079.88, 1090.73, and 1094.77 Å, respectively. We compare our experimental results with available theoretical calculations and astronomical observations in an effort to resolve discrepancies among them.
We report lifetimes, branching fractions, and the resulting oscillator strengths for transitions within the P II multiplet (3s23p2 3P - 3s3p3 3Po) at 1308 Å. These comprehensive beam-foil measurements, which are the most precise set currently available experimentally, resolve discrepancies involving earlier experimental and theoretical results. Interstellar phosphorus abundances derived from λ1308 can now be interpreted with greater confidence. In the course of our measurements, we also obtained an experimental lifetime for the 3p4s 3P0o level of P IV. This lifetime agrees well with the availa…
Relativistic coupled-cluster (RCC) calculations have been performed to estimate the electromagnetic forbidden transition probabilities, oscillator strengths and lifetimes of many low-lying states of five times ionized molybdenum (Mo VI). Contributions from the Breit interaction up to the first order of perturbation have been examined. Our results are in good agreement with the available other reported theoretical and experimental results. A long lifetime about 4.9854 s of the first excited state, 4d $^2D_{5/2}$, has been predicted which can be a very useful criteria in the doping process of th…
