Energy levels and radiative rates for transitions in five Br-like ions (Sr IV, Y V, Zr VI, Nb VII and Mo VIII) are calculated with the general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package ({\sc grasp}). Extensive configuration interaction has been included and results are presented among the lowest 31 levels of the 4s$^2$4p$^5$, 4s$^2$4p$^4$4d and 4s4p$^6$ configurations. Lifetimes for these levels have also been determined, although unfortunately no measurements are available with which to compare. However, recently theoretical results have been reported by Singh {\em et al} [Phys. Scr. {\bf 88} (2013) 035301] using the same {\sc grasp} code. But their reported data for radiative rates and lifetimes cannot be reproduced and show discrepancies of up to five orders of magnitude with the present calculations.
The lifetime of the 3d^2D_5/2-level in singly-ionized calcium has been measured by the electron-shelving technique on different samples of rf trapped ions. The metastable state has been directly populated by exciting the dipole-forbidden 4S_1/2 - 3D_5/2 transition. In ion clouds, the natural lifetime of this metastable level has been measured to be (1095+-27) ms. For the single-ion case, we determined a lifetime of (1152+-20) ms. The 1sigma-error bars at the 2%-level have different origins for the two kinds of experiments: data fitting methods for lifetime measurements in an ion cloud and cont…
Relativistic many-body perturbation theory is applied to study properties of ions of the francium isoelectronic sequence. Specifically, energies of the 7s, 7p, 6d, and 5f states of Fr-like ions with nuclear charges Z = 87 - 100 are calculated through third order; reduced matrix elements, oscillator strengths, transition rates, and lifetimes are determined for 7s - 7p, 7p - 6d, and 6d - 5f electric-dipole transitions; and 7s - 6d, 7s - 5f, and 5f_5/2 - 5f_7/2 multipole matrix elements are evaluated to obtain the lifetimes of low-lying excited states. Moreover, for the ions Z = 87 - 92 calculati…
Magnetic quadrupole and electric octupole transitions from the configurations $4p^54d^{N+1}$ and $4p^64d^{N-1}4f$ were calculated along with magnetic dipole, electric dipole and electric quadrupole radiative transitions in quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock approximation. Their significance in determining the metastable level radiative lifetimes was investigated along several isoelectronic sequences for the ions from $Z=50$ to $Z=92$. Strontium-like ions, zirconium-like ions, molybdenum-like ions and rhodium-like ions were studied comprehensively. Remaining isoelectronic sequences with the ground …
Recently the lifetime of the excited $^{2}P_{1/2}$-state of S$^-$ was measured to be $503\pm 54$ s (Bäckström et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 114, 143003 (2015)). The earlier theoretical lifetime of $436$ s was clearly outside the experimental error bars. To investigate this discrepancy we have performed systematic and large-scale multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock calculations for this system. After including a careful treatment of correlation and relativistic effects, we predict a well-converged value of $492$ s for this lifetime, with an uncertainty considerably less than 1%, thereby removing th…
Large-scale calculations of atomic structures and radiative properties have been carried out for singly, doubly- and trebly ionized cerium. For this purpose, the purely relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) method was used, taking into account the effects of valence-valence and core-valence electronic correlations in detail. The results obtained were then used to calculate the expansion opacities characterizing the kilonovae observed as a result of neutron star mergers. Comparisons with previously published experimental and theoretical studies have shown that the results p…
We show that the spectrum and eigenstates of open-shell multicharged atomic ions near the ionization threshold are chaotic, as a result of extremely high level densities of multiply excited electron states (1000 levels per eV in Au 24+) and a strong configuration mixing. This complexity enables one to use statistical methods to analyze the system. The orbital occupation numbers obey the Fermi-Dirac distribution, and temperature can be introduced. We show that radiative capture of electrons through the multielectron resonant states is strongly enhanced compared to the direct radiative recombina…
The one-electron quantum-electrodynamic corrections to the magnetic-dipole transition amplitude between the fine-structure levels (1s^2 2s^2 2p) ^2P_3/2 - ^2P_1/2 in boronlike ions are calculated to all orders in (αZ). The results obtained serve for improving the theoretical accuracy of the lifetime of the (1s^2 2s^2 2p) ^2P_3/2 level in boronlike argon.
The influence of hypothetical new interactions beyond the Standard Model on atomic spectra has attracted recent interest. In the present work, interelectronic photon-exchange corrections and radiative quantum electrodynamic corrections to the hypothetical contribution to the energy levels of few-electron ions from a new interaction are calculated. The $1s$, $2s$ and $2p_{1/2}$ ground states of H-like, Li-like and B-like ions are considered, as motivated by proposals to use isotope shift spectroscopy of few-electron ions in order to set stringent constraints on hypothetical new interactions. It…
Calculations of energy levels, radiative rates and lifetimes are reported for eight ions of tungsten, i.e. S-like (W LIX) to F-like (W LXVI). A large number of levels has been considered for each ion and extensive configuration interaction has been included among a range of configurations. For the calculations, the general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package (GRASP) has been adopted, and radiative rates (as well as oscillator strengths and line strengths) are listed for all E1, E2, M1, and M2 transitions of the ions. Comparisons have been made with earlier available experimental and …
The atomic states of the W IX (W8+) tungsten ion lying below the W9+ ionisation threshold have been studied theoretically, employing the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock method with configuration interaction. The level electronic structures and their energies are presented. The electric dipole (E1), magnetic dipole (M1), electric quadrupole (E2), and magnetic quadrupole (M2) radiative transitions have been computed in order to calculate the radiative lifetimes of given states. Transition wavelengths, energies, and decay rates are also presented for selected high-intensity E1 transitions. …
In this paper, energy levels, radiative rates and lifetimes are reported for 11 F-like ions with 12 $\le$ Z $\le$ 23. Up to 198 levels (depending on the ion) have been considered which include 113 of the 2s$^2$2p$^5$, 2s2p$^6$, 2s$^2$2p$^4$3$\ell$, 2s2p$^5$3$\ell$, and 2p$^6$3$\ell$ configurations. The general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package ({\sc grasp}) and the flexible atomic code ({\sc fac}) have been adopted for calculating the energy levels, but the {\sc grasp} alone for the remaining parameters. Radiative rates (along with oscillator strengths and line strengths) are liste…

The general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package (GRASP) has been adopted for the calculations, and radiative rates (and other associated parameters, such as oscillator strengths and line strengths) are listed for all E1, E2, M1, and M2 transitions of the ions. Comparisons are made with earlier available theoretical and experimental energies, especially for Ba~XLVII…
The ground state hyperfine splitting values and the transition probabilities between the hyperfine structure components of high Z lithiumlike ions are calculated in the range $Z=49-83$. The relativistic, nuclear, QED and interelectronic interaction corrections are taken into account. It is found that the Bohr-Weisskopf effect can be eliminated in a combination of the hyperfine splitting values of the hydrogenlike and lithiumlike ions of an isotope. This gives a possibility for testing the QED effects in a combination of the strong electric and magnetic fields of the heavy nucleus. Using the ex…
The photoionization cross-sections of two even-parity excited states, $5d6d ^3D_1$ and $6s7d ^3D_{2}$, of atomic Ba at the ionization-laser wavelength of 556.6 nm were measured. We found that the total cross-section depends on the relative polarization of the atoms and the ionization-laser light. With density-matrix algebra, we show that, in general, there are at most three parameters in the photoionization cross-section. Some of these parameters are determined in this work. We also present the measurement of the radiative lifetime of five even-parity excited states of barium.
The parity nonconservation effect on the radiative recombination of electrons with heavy hydrogenlike ions is studied. Calculations are performed for the recombination into the $2^1S_0$ state of helium-like thorium and gadolinium, where, due to the near-degeneracy of the opposite-parity $2^1S_0$ and $2^3P_0$ states, the effect is strongly enhanced. Two scenarios for possible experiments are studied. In the first scenario, the electron beam is assumed to be fully polarized while the H-like ions are unpolarized and the polarization of the emitted photons is not detected. In the second scenario, …
When the atoms of a dimer remain most of the time very far apart, in so-called long-range molecular states, their mutual interaction is ruled by plain atomic properties. The high-resolution spectroscopic study of some molecular excited states populated by photoassociation of cold atoms (photoassociative spectroscopy) gives a good illustration of this property. It provides accurate determinations of atomic radiative lifetimes, which are known to be sensitive tests for atomic calculations. A number of such analyses has been performed up to now, for all stable alkali atoms and for some other atom…
Calculations of energy levels, radiative rates and lifetimes are reported for 17 F-like ions with 37 $\le$ Z $\le$ 53. For brevity, results are only presented among the lowest 113 levels of the 2s$^2$2p$^5$, 2s2p$^6$, 2s$^2$2p$^4$3$\ell$, 2s2p$^5$3$\ell$, and 2p$^6$3$\ell$ configurations, although the calculations have been performed for up to 501 levels in each ion. The general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package (GRASP) has been adopted for the calculations, and radiative rates (along with oscillator strengths and line strengths) are listed for all E1, E2, M1, and M2 transitions of…
The first metastable triplet state of HeH$^+$ was found to be present in ion beam experiments, with its lifetime estimated to be between hundreds of milliseconds and thousand of seconds. In this work, we use {\it ab initio} methods to evaluate the radiative lifetimes of the six vibrational levels of the $a\ ^3Σ^+$ of HeH$^+$. The transition $a\ ^3Σ^+ \rightarrow X \ ^1Σ^+$ is spin-forbidden, but acquires intensity through spin-orbit interaction with the singlet and triplet $Π$ states. Large scale CASSCF/MRCI calculations using an adapted basis set were performed to determine the potential ener…
The fully relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac--Hartree--Fock method is used to compute excitation energies and lifetimes for the 143 lowest states of the $3s^23p^3$, $3s3p^4$, $3s^23p^23d$, $3s3p^33d$, $3p^5$, $3s^23p3d^2$ configurations in P-like ions from Cr X to Zn XVI. Multipole (E1, M1, E2, M2) transition rates, line strengths, oscillator strengths, and branching fractions among these states are also given. Valence-valence and core-valence electron correlation effects are systematically accounted for using large basis function expansions. Computed excitation energies are compared with t…
Recent advances in the production of twisted electron beams with a subnanometer spot size offer unique opportunities to explore the role of orbital angular momentum (OAM) in basic atomic processes. In the present work, we address one of these processes: radiative recombination of twisted electrons with bare ions. Based on the density matrix formalism and the non-relativistic Schrödinger theory, analytical expressions are derived for the angular distribution and the linear polarization of photons emitted due to the capture of twisted electrons into the ground state of (hydrogen-like) ions. We s…
Plasma diagnostics in magnetic confinement fusion plasmas by using visible spectrum strongly depends on the knowledge of fundamental atomic properties. A detailed collisional-radiative model of W$^{26+}$ ions has been constructed by considering radiative and electron excitation processes, in which the necessary atomic data had been calculated by relativistic configuration interaction method with the implementation of Flexible Atomic Code. The visible spectrum observed at an electron beam ion trap (EBIT) in Shanghai in the range of 332 nm to 392 nm was reproduced by present calculations. Some t…
Aims. In the context of black-hole accretion disks, the main goal of the present study is to estimate the plasma environment effects on the atomic structure and radiative parameters associated with the K-vacancy states in ions of the oxygen isonuclear sequence. Methods. We use a time-averaged Debye-Huckel potential for both the electron-nucleus and the electron-electron interactions implemented in the fully relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock (MCDF) method. Results. Modified ionization potentials, K thresholds, Auger widths and radiative transition wavelengths and rates are reported for…
Ab initio calculations of QED radiative corrections to the $^2P_{1/2}$ - $^2P_{3/2}$ fine-structure transition energy are performed for selected F-like ions. These calculations are nonperturbative in $αZ$ and include all first-order and many-electron second-order effects in $α$. When compared to approximate QED computations, a notable discrepancy is found especially for F-like uranium for which the predicted self-energy contributions even differ in sign. Moreover, all deviations between theory and experiment for the $^2P_{1/2}$ - $^2P_{3/2}$ fine-structure energies of F-like ions, reported rec…

Extensive configuration interaction has been included and the general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package ({\sc grasp}) has been adopted for the calculations. Additionally, radiative rates are listed among these levels for all E1, E2, M1, and M2 transitions. From a comparison with the measuremen…
Radiative emission during cold collisions between trapped laser-cooled Rb atoms and alkaline-earth ions (Ca$^+$, Sr$^+$, Ba$^+$) and Yb$^+$, and between Li and Yb$^+$, are studied theoretically, using accurate effective-core-potential based quantum chemistry calculations of potential energy curves and transition dipole moments of the related molecular ions. Radiative association of molecular ions is predicted to occur for all systems with a cross section two to ten times larger than the radiative charge transfer one. Partial and total rate constants are also calculated and compared to availabl…
Employing two state-of-the-art methods, multiconfiguration Dirac--Hartree--Fock and second-order many-body perturbation theory, the excitation energies and lifetimes for the lowest 200 states of the $2s^2 2p^4$, $2s 2p^5$, $2p^6$, $2s^2 2p^3 3s$, $2s^2 2p^3 3p$, $2s^2 2p^3 3d$, $2s 2p^4 3s$, $2s 2p^4 3p$, and $2s 2p^4 3d$ configurations, and multipole (electric dipole (E1), magnetic dipole (M1), and electric quadrupole (E2)) transition rates, line strengths, and oscillator strengths among these states are calculated for each O-like ion from Cr XVII to Zn XXIII. Our two data sets are compared w…
The ground-state hyperfine splitting values of high-Z boronlike ions are calculated. Calculation of the interelectronic-interaction contribution is based on a combination of the 1/Z perturbation theory and the large-scale configuration-interaction Dirac-Fock-Sturm method. Total hyperfine splitting energies are presented for several B-like ions of particular interest: {}^{45}Sc{}^{16+}, {}^{57}Fe{}^{21+}, {}^{207}Pb{}^{77+}, and {}^{209}Bi{}^{78+}. For lead and bismuth the experimental values of the …
Accurate values of electric dipole (E1) amplitudes along with their uncertainties for a number of transitions among low-lying states of Mg$^+$, Ca$^+$, Sr$^+$, and Ba$^+$ are listed by carrying out calculations using a relativistic all-order many-body method. By combining experimental wavelengths with these amplitudes, we quote transition probabilities, oscillator strengths and lifetimes of many short-lived excited states of the above ions. The uncertainties in these radiative properties are also quoted. We also give electric quadrupole (E2) and magnetic dipole (M1) amplitudes of the metastabl…
The radiative recombination of a free electron into an excited state of a bare, high-Z ion is studied, together with its subsequent decay, within the framework of the density matrix theory and Dirac's relativistic equation. Special attention is paid to the polarization and angular correlations between the recombination and the decay photons. In order to perform a systematic analysis of these correlations the general expression for the double-differential recombination cross section is obtained by making use of the resonance approximation. Based on this expression, detailed computations for the…
We study the process of low-energy electron capture by the SF6 molecule. Our approach is based on the model of Gauyacq and Herzenberg [J. Phys. B 17, 1155 (1984)] in which the electron motion is coupled to the fully symmetric vibrational mode through a weakly bound or virtual s state. By tuning the two free parameters of the model, we achieve an accurate description of the measured electron attachment cross section and good agreement with vibrational excitation cross sections of the fully symmetric mode. An extension of the model provides a limit on the characteristic time of intramolecular vi…
The fluorescence spectrum resulting from laser excitation of the A^{2}Π_{1/2} - X^{2}Σ^{+} (0,0) band of ytterbium monofluoride, YbF, has been recorded and analyzed to determine the Franck-Condon factors. The measured values are compared with those predicted from Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) potential energy curves. From the fluorescence decay curve the radiative lifetime of the A^{2}Π_{1/2} state is measured to be 28\pm2 ns, and the corresponding transition dipole moment is 4.39\pm0.16 D. The implications for laser cooling YbF are discussed.

We present precise radiative data of line strengths, transition probabilities and oscillator strengths for the allowed transitions among the $nS_{1/2}$, $nP_{1/2,3/2}$, $n'D_{3/2,5/2}$ and $n'F_{5/2,7/2}$ states with $n=4$ to $6$ and $n'=4,5$ of the Cu-isoelectronic As, Se and Br ions. Due to unavailability of precise observations of these spectroscopic data, their accurate estimations are of great interest and useful in analyzing various astrophysical phenomena undergoing inside the heavenly bodies that contain As, Se and Br elements. An all-order perturbative many-body method in the relativi…
The intrinsic radiative lifetimes of the $5d^{10}6s$ $^{2}\text{S}_{1/2}$ and $5d^{9}6s^{2}$ $^{2}\text{D}_{3/2}$ bound excited states in the platinum anion $\text{Pt}^{-}$ have been studied at cryogenic temperatures at the Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring Experiment (DESIREE) facility at Stockholm University. The intrinsic lifetime of the higher-lying $5d^{10}6s$ $^{2}\text{S}_{1/2}$ state was measurement to be 2.54$\pm$0.10 s, while only a lifetime in the range of 50 - 200 ms could be estimated for the $5d^{9}6s^{2}$ $^{2}\text{D}_{3/2}$ fine-structure level. The storage lifetime of the $\text{…
We present a theoretical investigation of the radiative recombination of twisted Bessel electrons with initially hydrogen-like (finally helium-like) heavy ions. In our study, we focus especially on the linear polarization of x-ray photons emitted in the electron capture into the ground $1s^2_{1/2}$ ionic state. Particular emphasis is placed on the question of how this polarization is affected if incident hydrogen-like ions are themselves spin-polarized. To explore such a "polarization transfer" we apply the density matrix theory and derive the Stokes parameters of recombination x-rays for the …
The best limit on the electron electric dipole moment (eEDM) comes from the ACME II experiment [Nature \textbf{562} (2018), 355-360] which probes physics beyond the Standard Model at energy scales well above 1 TeV. ACME II measured the eEDM by monitoring electron spin precession in a cold beam of the metastable H$^3Δ_1$ state of thorium monoxide (ThO) molecules, with an observation time $τ\approx 1$ ms for each molecule. We report here a new measurement of the lifetime of the ThO (H$^3Δ_1$) state, $τ_H = 4.2\pm 0.5$ ms. Using an apparatus within which $τ\approx τ_H$ will enable a substantial r…
Recently, N.~Singh and S.~Aggarwal [Pramana -- J. Phys. 89 (2017) 79] have reported energies and lifetimes for 127 levels of three Ne-like ions, namely Cu~XX, Zn~XXI and Ga~XXII. For the calculations they have adopted two independent atomic structure codes, i.e. GRASP and FAC, and have concluded that both codes give comparable energies. However, we find that the differences between the two sets of energies are up to 1.5~Ryd (over 1.6$\times$10$^5$ wavenumbers) for many levels, and for all three ions. In the absence of other available theoretical or experimental data, it becomes difficult to kn…

We tabulate spontaneous emission rates for all possible 811 electric-dipole-allowed transitions between the 75 lowest-energy states of Ca I. These involve the $4sns$ ($n=4-8$), $4snp$ ($n=4-7$), $4snd$ ($n=3-6$), $4snf$ ($n=4-6$), $4p^2$, and $3d4p$ electronic configurations. We compile the transition rates by carrying out ab initio relativistic calculations using the combined method of configuration interaction and many-body perturbation theory. The results are compared to the available literature values. The tabulated rates can be useful in various applications, such as optimizing laser cool…

We present a combined experimental and theoretical study on the radiative lifetime of CO in the $a^3Π_{1,2}, v=0$ state. CO molecules in a beam are prepared in selected rotational levels of this metastable state, Stark-decelerated and electrostatically trapped. From the phosphorescence decay in the trap, the radiative lifetime is measured to be $2.63\pm0.03$ ms for the $a^3Π_1, v=0, J=1$ level. From spin-orbit coupling between the $a^3Π$ and the $A^1Π$ state a 20% longer radiative lifetime of 3.16 ms is calculated for this level. It is concluded that coupling to other $^1Π$ states contributes …
We report calculations of energy levels, radiative decay rates, and lifetimes for transitions among the 3s$^2$3p$^5$, 3s3p$^6$, and 3s$^2$3p$^4$3d configurations of Cl-like W LVIII. The general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package (GRASP) has been adopted for our calculations. Comparisons are made with the most recent results of Mohan et al. [Can. J. Our energy levels are estimated to be accurate to better than 0.5\%, whereas results for radiative rates and lifetimes …
We have measured the radiative lifetimes of ns, np and nd Rydberg states of rubidium in the range 28 < n < 45. To enable long-lived states to be measured, our experiment uses slow-moving Rb atoms in a magneto-optical trap (MOT). Two experimental techniques have been adopted to reduce random and systematic errors. First, a narrow-bandwidth pulsed laser is used to excite the target Rydberg state, resulting in minimal shot-to-shot variation in the initial state population. Second, we monitor the target state population as a function of time delay from the laser pulse using a short-duration, milli…

A method is proposed to manipulate the annihilation dynamics of a dense gas of positronium atoms employing superradiance and subradiance regimes of the cooperative spontaneous emission of the system. The annihilation dynamics is controlled by the gas density and by the intensity of the driving strong resonant laser field. In particular, the method allows to increase the annihilation lifetime of an ensemble of positronium atoms more than hundred times by trapping the atoms in the excited state via collective radiative effects in the resonant laser and cavity fields.

Third-order corrections to energies and dipole matrix elements are included for neutral Ag and for ions with Z<61. Second-order corrections are included for Z>60. Comparisons are made with available experimental data for transition energies and …
The wavelength and rate of the $5p-5s$ transition of W XIV - W XVI ions have been calculated by the relativistic configuration interaction (RCI) method with the implementation of Flexible Atomic code (FAC). A reasonable collisional-radiative model (CRM) has been constructed to simulate the $5p - 5s$ transition spectrum of W XIV - W XVI ions which had been observed in electron beam ion trap (EBIT) device. The results are in reasonable agreement with the available experimental and theoretical data, and might be applied to identify the controversial spectra. The confusion on the assignment of the…
A general expression for the double differential cross section of fluorescence radiation following photorecombination (PRF) of polarized electrons and polarized ions is derived by using usual atomic theory methods and is represented in the form of multiple expansions over spherical tensors. The ways of the application of the general expression suitable for the specific experimental conditions are outlined by deriving the asymmetry parameter of angular distribution of PRF radiation in the case of nonpolarized ions and electrons. This parameter is calculated for neon-like ions and bare nuclei. A…
Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) performed on metastable ions is frequently used to probe the dynamics of ground-state ion motions in many laboratory plasmas. However, these measurements place restrictions on the metastable ion lifetime. Metastable states are produced from direct ionization of neutral atoms as well as ions in other electronic states, of which the former will only faithfully represent processes that act on the ion dynamics in a time shorter than the metastable lifetime. We present here the first experimental study of this type of systematic effect using wave-particle interactio…
New experiments were proposed recently to investigate the regime of cold atomic and molecular ion-atom collision processes in a special hybrid neutral-atom--ion trap under high vacuum conditions. The collisional cooling of laser pre-cooled Ca$^+$ ions by ultracold Na atoms is being studied. Modeling this process requires knowledge of the radiative lifetime of the excited singlet A$^1Σ^+$ state of the (NaCa)$^+$ molecular system. We calculate the rate coefficient for radiative charge transfer using a semiclassical approach. The dipole radial matrix elements between the ground and the excited st…
This work reports new experimental radiative lifetimes and calculated oscillator strengths for transitions of astrophysical interest in singly ionized cobalt. More precisely, nineteen radiative lifetimes in Co+ have been measured with the time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence technique using one- and two-step excitations. Out of these, seven belonging to the high lying 3d$^7$($^4$F)4d configuration in the energy range 90697 - 93738 cm$^{-1}$ are new, and the other twelve from th3d$^7$($^4$F)F)4p configuration with energies between 45972 and 49328 cm$^{-1}$1 are compared with previous measur…
We have studied the radiative decay of the 2s state of one-electron and one-muon ions, where the two-photon mechanism plays an important role. Due to the nuclear size corrections the radiative decay of the 2s state in the electron and muon ions is qualitatively different. Based on the accurate relativistic calculation, we introduced a two-parameter approximation, which makes it possible to describe the two-photon angular-differential transition probability for the polarized emitted photons with high accuracy. The emission of photons with linear and circular polarizations was studied separately…
We estimate the range of the radiative lifetime and energy of the anomalous, low-energy $3/2^+(7.8 \pm 0.5$ eV) state in the $^{229}$Th nucleus. Our phenomenological calculations are based on the available experimental data for the intensities of $M1$ and $E2$ transitions between excited levels of the $^{229}$Th nucleus in the $K^π[Nn_ZΛ]=5/2^+[633]$ and $3/2^+[631]$ rotational bands. We also discuss the influence of certain branching coefficients, which affect the currently accepted measured energy of the isomeric state. From this work, we establish a favored region where the transition lifet…
