A generalised ladder operator is used to construct the conserved operators for any model derived from the Yang-Baxter equation. As an example, the low order conserved operators for the XYh model are calculated explicitly.
The generalization of the Yang-Baxter equations (YBE) in the presence of Z_2 grading along both chain and time directions is presented and an integrable model of t-J type with staggered disposition along a chain of shifts of the spectral parameter is constructed. The Hamiltonian of the model is computed in fermionic formulation. It involves three neighbour site interactions and therefore can be considered as a zig-zag ladder model. The Algebraic Bethe Ansatz technique is applied and the eigenstates, along with eigenvalues of the transfer matrix of the model are found. In the thermodynamic limi…
We study an integrable system related to the relativistic Toda lattice. The bilinear representation of this lattice is given and the Bäckulund transformation obtained. A fully discrete version is also introduced with its bilinear Bäcklund transformation and Lax pair. One-soliton solution of the discrete system is presented by use of Bäcklund transformation.
Based on the notion of Darboux-KP chain hierarchy and its invariant submanifolds we construct some class of constraints compatible with integrable lattices. Some simple examples are given.
We introduce an integrable spin ladder model and study its exact solution, correlation functions, and entanglement properties. The model supports two particle types (corresponding to the even and odd sub-lattices), such that the scattering phases are constants: particles of the same type scatter as free fermions, whereas the inter-particle phase shift is a constant tuned by an interaction parameter. Therefore, the spin ladder bears similarities with anyonic models. We present exact results for the spectrum and correlation functions, and we study the sub-lattice entanglement by numerical means.
The symmetry approach is used for classification of integrable isotropic vector Volterra lattices on the sphere. The list of integrable lattices consists mainly of new equations. Their symplectic structure and associated PDE of vector NLS-type are discussed.
An integrable self-adjoint 7-point scheme on the triangular lattice and an integrable self-adjoint scheme on the honeycomb lattice are studied using the sublattice approach. The star-triangle relation between these systems is introduced, and the Darboux transformations for both linear problems from the Moutard transformation of the B-(Moutard) quadrilateral lattice are obtained. A geometric interpretation of the Laplace transformations of the self-adjoint 7-point scheme is given and the corresponding novel integrable discrete 3D system is constructed.
We show that by Miura-type transformation the Itoh-Narita-Bogoyavlenskii lattice, for any $n\geq 1$, is related to some differential-difference (modified) equation. We present corresponding integrable hierarchies in its explicit form. We study the elementary Darboux transformation for modified equations.
The classification of lattice equations that are integrable in the sense of higher-dimensional consistency is extended by allowing directed edges. We find two cases that are not transformable via the 'admissible transformations' to the lattice equations in the existing classification.
We introduce and study suitable Poisson structures for four dimensional maps derived as lifts and specific periodic reductions of integrable lattice equations. These maps are Poisson with respect to these structures and the corresponding integrals are in involution.
We introduce a family of compatible Poisson brackets on the space of rational functions with denominator of a fixed degree and use it to derive a multi-Hamiltonian structure for a family of integrable lattice equations that includes both the standard and the relativistic Toda lattices.
We review recent results on asymptotic lattices and their integrable reductions. We present the theory of general asymptotic lattices in R^3 together with the corresponding theory of their Darboux-type transformations. Then we study the discrete analogues of the Bianchi surfaces and their transformations. Finally, we present the corresponding theory of the discrete analogues of the isothermally-asymptotic (Fubuni-Ragazzi) nets.
The Q1 lattice equation, a member in the Adler-Bobenko-Suris list of 3D consistent lattices, is investigated. By using the multidimensional consistency, a novel Lax pair for Q1 equation is given, which can be nonlinearised to produce integrable symplectic maps. Consequently, a Riemann theta function expression for the discrete potential is derived with the help of the Baker-Akhiezer functions. This expression leads to the algebro-geometric integration of the Q1 lattice equation, based on the commutativity of discrete phase flows generated from the iteration of integrable symplectic maps.
We investigate the relation between the local variables of a discrete integrable lattice system and the corresponding separation variables, derived from the associated spectral curve. In particular, we have shown how the inverse transformation from the separation variables to the discrete lattice variables may be factorised as a sequence of canonical transformations, following the procedure outlined by Kuznetsov.
We solve the classification problem for integrable lattices of the form $u_{,t}=f(u_{-2},\dots,u_2)$ under the additional assumption of invariance with respect to the group of linear-fractional transformations. The obtained list contains 5 equations, including 3 new. Difference Miura type substitutions are found which relate these equations with known polynomial lattices. We also present some classification results for the generic lattices.
We give new Backlund transformations (BTs) for some known integrable (in the sense of being multidimensionally consistent) quadrilateral lattice equations. As opposed to the natural auto-BT inherent in every such equation, these BTs are of two other kinds. Specifically, it is found that some equations admit additional auto-BTs (with Backlund parameter), whilst some pairs of apparently distinct equations admit a BT which connects them.
We introduce a class of integrable $l$-field first-order lattices together with corresponding Lax equations. These lattices may be represented as consistency condition for auxiliary linear systems defined on sequences of formal dressing operators. This construction provides simple way to build lattice Miura transformations between one-field lattice and $l$-field ($l\ge 2$) ones. We show that the lattices pertained to above class is in some sense compatible with KP flows and define the chains of constrained KP Lax operators.
We consider differential-difference equations that determine the continuous symmetries of discrete equations on the triangular lattice. It is shown that a certain combination of continuous flows can be represented as a scalar evolution lattice equation of order 2. The general scheme is illustrated by a number of examples, including an analog of the elliptic Yamilov lattice equation.
A relation between semi-direct sums of Lie algebras and integrable couplings of lattice equations is established, and a practicable way to construct integrable couplings is further proposed. An application of the resulting general theory to the generalized Toda spectral problem yields two classes of integrable couplings for the generalized Toda hierarchy of lattice equations. The construction of integrable couplings using semi-direct sums of Lie algebras provides a good source of information on complete classification of integrable lattice equations.
We study lattice Miura transformations for the Toda and Volterra lattices, relativistic Toda and Volterra lattices, and their modifications. In particular, we give three successive modifications for the Toda lattice, two for the Volterra lattice and for the relativistic Toda lattice, and one for the relativistic Volterra lattice. We discuss Poisson properties of the Miura transformations, their permutability properties, and their role as localizing changes of variables in the theory of integrable discretizations.
A new integrable lattice system is introduced, and its integrable discretizations are obtained. A Bäcklund transformation between this new system and the Toda lattice, as well as between their discretizations, is established.
New integrable lattice systems are introduced, their different integrable discretization are obtained. Bäcklund transformations between these new systems and the relativistic Toda lattice (in the both continuous and discrete time formulations) are established.
Unexpected relations are found between the Toda lattice, the relativistic Toda lattice and the Bruschi--Ragnisco lattice, as well as between their integrable discretizations.
Integrable boundary conditions in 1+1 and 2+1 dimensions are discussed from the higher symmetries point of view. Boundary conditions consistent with the discrete Landau-Lifshitz model and infinite 2D Toda lattice are represented.
This paper studies the structure of Lax pairs associated with integrable lattice systems (where space is a one-dimensional lattice, and time is continuous). It describes a procedure for generating examples of such systems, and emphasizes the features that are needed to obtain equations which are local on the spatial lattice.
In a recent paper we constructed an integrable generalization of the Toda law on the square lattice. In this paper we construct other examples of integrable dynamics of Toda-type on the square lattice, as well as on the triangular lattice, as nonlinear symmetries of the discrete Laplace equations on the square and triangular lattices. We also construct the $τ$ - function formulations and the Darboux-Bäcklund transformations of these novel dynamics.
We present integrable lattice equations on a two dimensional square lattice with coupled vertex and bond variables. In some of the models the vertex dynamics is independent of the evolution of the bond variables, and one can write the equations as non-autonomous "Yang-Baxter maps". We also present a model in which the vertex and bond variables are fully coupled. Integrability is tested with algebraic entropy as well as multidimensional consistency
We give a rational form of a generic two-dimensional "quad" map, containing the so-called $Q_4$ case, but whose coefficients are free. Its integrability is proved using the calculation of algebraic entropy.
Some special solutions to the reflection equation are considered. These boundary matrices are defined on the common quantum space with the other operators in the chain. The relations with the Drinfeld twist are discussed.
In the framework of the reduction technique for Poisson-Nijenhuis structures, we derive a new hierarchy of integrable lattice, whose continuum limit is the AKNS hierarchy. In contrast with other differential-difference versions of the AKNS system, our hierarchy is endowed with a canonical Poisson structure and, moreover, it admits a vector generalisation. We also solve the associated spectral problem and explicity contruct action-angle variables through the r-matrix approach.
We consider compositions of the transformations of the time variable and canonical transformations of the other coordinates, which map completely integrable system into other completely integrable system. Change of the time gives rise to transformations of the integrals of motion and the Lax pairs, transformations of the corresponding spectral curves and R-matrices. As an example, we consider canonical transformations of the extended phase space for the Toda lattices and the Stackel systems.
Analytic-bilinear approach for construction and study of integrable hierarchies is discussed. Generalized multicomponent KP and 2D Toda lattice hierarchies are considered. This approach allows to represent generalized hierarchies of integrable equations in a condensed form of finite functional equations. Generalized hierarchy incorporates basic hierarchy, modified hierarchy, singularity manifold equation hierarchy and corresponding linear problems. Different levels of generalized hierarchy are connected via invariants of Combescure symmetry transformation. Resolution of functional equations al…
This note constructs completely integrable convex Hamiltonians on the cotangent bundle of certain k-dimensional torus bundles over an l-dimensional torus. A central role is played by the Lax representation of a Bogoyavlenskij-Toda lattice. The classification of these systems, up to iso-energetic topological conjugacy, is related to the classification of abelian groups of Anosov toral automorphisms by their topological entropy function.
Integrable lattice equations arising in the context of singular manifold equations for scalar, multicomponent KP hierarchies and 2D Toda lattice hierarchy are considered. These equation generate the corresponding continuous hierarchy of singular manifold equations, its Bäcklund transformations and different forms of superposition principles. They possess rather special form of compatibility representation. The distinctive feature of these equations is invariance under the action of Möbius transformation. Geometric interpretation of these discrete equations is given.
We develop the approach to the problem of integrable discretization based on the notion of $r$--matrix hierarchies. One of its basic features is the coincidence of Lax matrices of discretized systems with the Lax matrices of the underlying continuous time systems. A common feature of the discretizations obtained in this approach is non--locality. We demonstrate how to overcome this drawback. Namely, we introduce the notion of localizing changes of variables and construct such changes of variables for a large number of examples, including the Toda and the relativistic Toda lattices, the Volterr…
The notion of multidimensional quadrilateral lattice is introduced. It is shown that such a lattice is characterized by a system of integrable discrete nonlinear equations. Different useful formulations of the system are given. The geometric construction of the lattice is also discussed and, in particular, it is clarified the number of initial--boundary data which define the lattice uniquely.
We introduce a so-called `coprimeness-preserving non-integrable' extension (another terminology is `quasi-integrable' extension) to the two-dimensional Toda lattice equation. We believe that this equation is the first example of such discrete equation defined over a three-dimensional lattice. We prove that all the iterates of the equation are irreducible Laurent polynomials of the initial data and that every pair of two iterates is co-prime, which indicate confined singularities of the equation. By reducing the equation to two- or one-dimensional lattices, we obtain coprimeness-preserving non-…
Hirota bilinear identity for Cauchy-Baker-Akhieser (CBA) kernel is introduced as a basic tool to construct integrable hierarchies containing lattice and q-difference times. Determinant formula for the action of meromorphic function on CBA kernel is derived. This formula gives opportunity to construct generic solutions for integrable lattice equations.
A unified framework is presented for the solution structure of three-dimensional discrete integrable systems, including the lattice AKP, BKP and CKP equations. This is done through the so-called direct linearising transform which establishes a general class of integral transforms between solutions. As a particular application, novel soliton-type solutions for the lattice CKP equation are obtained.
This note gives a general construction of an integrable lattice model (and a solution of the Yang-Baxter equation with spectral parameter) from a four-dimensional field theory which is a mixture of topological and holomorphic. Spin-chain models arise in this way from a twisted, deformed version of N=1 gauge theory.
In this paper, we construct the additional $W$-symmetry and ghost symmetry of two-lattice field integrable hierarchies. Using the symmetry constraint, we construct constrained two-lattice integrable systems which contain several new integrable difference equations. Under a further reduction, the constrained two-lattice integrable systems can be combined into one single integrable system, namely the well-known one dimensional original Toda hierarchy. We prove that the one dimensional original Toda hierarchy has a nice Block Lie symmetry.
In this article, we consider the generalised two-parameter Cauchy two-matrix model and corresponding integrable lattice equation. It is shown that with parameters chosen as $1/k_i$ when $k_i\in\mathbb{Z}_{>0}$ ($i=1,\,2$), the average characteristic polynomials admit $(k_1+k_2+2)$-term recurrence relations, which provide us spectral problems for integrable lattices. The tau function is then given by the partition function of the generalised Cauchy two-matrix model as well as Gram determinant. The simplest example with exact solvability is demonstrated.
Recently, there has been observed an interesting correspondence between supersymmetric quiver gauge theories with four supercharges and integrable lattice models of statistical mechanics such that the two-dimensional spin lattice is the quiver diagram, the partition function of the lattice model is the partition function of the gauge theory and the Yang-Baxter equation expresses the identity of partition functions for dual pairs. This correspondence is a powerful tool which enables us to generate new integrable models. The aim of the present paper is to give a short account on a progress in in…
We study the local lattice integrable regularization of the Sine-Gordon model written down in terms of the lattice Bose-operators. We show that the local spin Hamiltonian obtained from the six-vertex model with alternating inhomogeneities in fact leads to the Sine-Gordon model in the low-energy limit. We show that the Bethe Ansatz results for this model lead to the correct general relations for different critical exponents of the coupling constant.
The light--cone lattice approach to the massive Thirring model is reformulated using a local and integrable lattice Hamiltonian written in terms of discrete fermi fields. Several subtle points concerning boundary conditions, normal--ordering, continuum limit, finite renormalizations and decoupling of fermion doublers are elucidated. The relations connecting the six--vertex anisotropy and the various coupling constants of the continuum are analyzed in detail.
We introduce a new discrete system that arises from ellipsoidal billiards and is closely related to the double reflection nets. The system is defined on the lattice of a uniform honeycomb consisting of rectified hypercubes and cross polytopes. In the $2$-dimensional case, the lattice is regular and it incorporates dynamics both in the original space and its dual. In the $3$-dimensional case, the lattice consists of tetrahedra and cuboctahedra.
These lectures present a survey of recent developments in the area of random matrices (finite and infinite) and random permutations. These probabilistic problems suggest matrix integrals (or Fredholm determinants), which arise very naturally as integrals over the tangent space to symmetric spaces, as integrals over groups and finally as integrals over symmetric spaces. An important part of these lectures is devoted to showing that these matrix integrals, upon apropriately adding time-parameters, are natural tau-functions for integrable lattices, like the Toda, Pfaff and Toeplitz lattices, but …
