In this article, we propose a definition of Nakano semi-positivity of singular Hermitian metrics on holomorphic vector bundles. By using this positivity notion, we establish $L^2$-estimates for holomorphic vector bundles with Nakano positive singular Hermitian metrics. We also show vanishing theorems, which generalize both Nakano type and Demailly-Nadel type vanishing theorems. As applications, we specifically construct globally Nakano semi-positive singular Hermitian metrics for several bundles, and prove vanishing theorems associated with them.
We extend to the category of relative regular holonomic modules on a manifold $X$, parametrized by a curve $S$, the Hermitian duality functor (or conjugation functor) of Kashiwara. We show that an equivariantly embedded Hermitian symmetric space in a projective space, which contains neither a projective space nor a hyperquadric as a component, is characterized by their fundamental forms as a local submanifold of the projective space. We use a Mayer-Vietoris-like spectral sequence to establish vanishing results for the cohomology of complements of linear and elliptic hyperplane arrangements, as part of a more general framework involving duality and abelian duality properties of spaces and groups. In the process, we consider cohomology of local systems with a general, Cohen-Macaulay-type condition. As a result, we recover known vanishing theorems for rank-1 local systems as well as group ring coefficients, and obtain new generalizations.

This paper studies the sliced nearby cycle functor and its commutation with duality. Over a Henselian discrete valuation ring, we show that this commutation holds, confirming a prediction of Deligne. As an application we give a new proof of Beilinson's theorem that the vanishing cycle functor commutes with duality up to twist.
