We prove First Fundamental Theorems of Coinvariant Theory for the standard coactions of the quantum general and special linear groups on tensor products of quantum matrix algebras. More precisely, let m,n,t be arbitrary positive integers, let A and B be the quantum coordinate rings of the $t \times t$ general and special linear groups over an arbitrary field K, and let $C_{m,t}$ and $C_{t,n}$ denote the quantum coordinate rings of $m \times t$ and $t \times n$ matrices over K. We first prove that the set of coinvariants for the coaction of A on $C_{m,t} \otimes C_{t,n}$ equals the image of the natural K-algebra map from the quantum coordinate ring of $m \times n$ matrices to $C_{m,t} \otimes C_{t,n}$ induced by comultiplication. The set of coinvariants for the coaction of B on $C_{m,t} \otimes C_{t,n}$ is shown to be the subalgebra generated by the above image together with a tensor product of two algebras generated by $t \times t$ quantum minors.
The fusion rule gives the dimensions of spaces of conformal blocks in the WZW theory. We prove a dimension formula similar to the fusion rulefor spaces of coinvariants of affine Lie algebras g^. An equivalence of filtered spaces is established between spaces of coinvariants of two objects: highest weight g^-modules and tensor products of finite-dimensional evaluation representations of g\otimes\C[t]. In the sl_2 case we prove that their associated graded spaces are isomorphic to the spaces of coinvariants of fusion products, and that their Hilbert polynomials are the level-restricted Kostka po…
We establish a q-generalization of Gordon's theorem that the space of diagonal coinvariants has a quotient identified with a perfect representation of the rational double affine Hecke algebra. It leads to a simple proof of his theorem and relates it to the Weyl algebras at roots of unity. The universal double affine Hecke algebra and the corresponding universal double Dunkl operators acting in noncommutative polynomials in terms of two sets of variables are introduced.
A general method is developed for deriving Quantum First and Second Fundamental Theorems of Coinvariant Theory from classical analogs in Invariant Theory, in the case that the quantization parameter q is transcendental over a base field. Several examples are given illustrating the utility of the method; these recover earlier results of various researchers including Domokos, Fioresi, Hacon, Rigal, Strickland, and the present authors.
Let G=G(t,z) be one of the N^2-dimensional bicovariant first order differential calculi for the quantum groups GL_q(N), SL_q(N), O_q(N), or Sp_q(N), where q is a transcendental complex number and z is a regular parameter. It is shown that the de Rham cohomology of Woronowicz' external algebra G^ coincides with the de Rham cohomologies of its left-coinvariant, its right-coinvariant and its (twosided) coinvariant subcomplexes. In the cases GL_q(N) and SL_q(N) the cohomology ring is isomorphic to the coinvariant external algebra G^_{inv} and to the vector space of harmonic forms. We prove a Hodge…
Let R_n be the ring of coinvariants for the diagonal action of the symmetric group S_n. It is known that the character of R_n as a doubly-graded S_n module can be expressed using the Frobenius characteristic map as \nabla e_n, where e_n is the n-th elementary symmetric function, and \nabla is an operator from the theory of Macdonald polynomials. We conjecture a combinatorial formula for \nabla e_n and prove that it has many desirable properties which support our conjecture. In particular, we prove that our formula is a symmetric function (which is not obvious) and that it is Schur positive. Th…
A condition is identified which guarantees that the coinvariants of a coaction of a Hopf algebra on an algebra form a subalgebra, even though the coaction may fail to be an algebra homomorphism. A Hilbert Theorem (finite generation of the subalgebra of coinvariants) is obtained for such coactions of a cosemisimple Hopf algebra. This is applied to two adjoint coactions of quantized function algebras of classical groups on the associated FRT bialgebra. Provided that the Hopf algebra is cosemisimple and coquasitriangular, the algebras of coinvariants form two finitely generated, commutative, grad…
We translate some fundamental properties satisfied by topological principal bundles into the setting of Hopf-Galois extensions. The properties are: functoriality, homotopy, and triviality. The main new concept of the paper is the homotopy equivalence of Hopf-Galois extensions. We work in the particular case where the subalgebra of coinvariants is central but without any restriction on the Hopf algebras coacting on the quantum principal bundle. We examine in detail the case when the Hopf algebra is one of Sweedler or Taft's finite-dimensional Hopf algebras.
Viewing comodule algebras as the noncommutative analogues of affine varieties with affine group actions, we propose rudiments of a localization approach to nonaffine Hopf algebraic quotients of noncommutative affine varieties corresponding to comodule algebras. After reviewing basic background on noncommutative localizations, we introduce localizations compatible with coactions. Coinvariants of these localized coactions give local information about quotients. We define Zariski locally trivial quantum group algebraic principal and associated bundles. Compatible localizations induce localization…
We formulate and prove a free quantum analogue of the first fundamental theorems of invariant theory. More precisely, the polynomial functions algebras are replaced by free algebras, while the universal cosovereign Hopf algebras play the role of the general linear group.
The Structure Theorem for Hopf modules states that if a bialgebra $H$ is a Hopf algebra (i.e. it is endowed with a so-called antipode) then every Hopf module $M$ is of the form ${M}^{\mathrm{co}{H}}\otimes H$, where ${M}^{\mathrm{co}{H}}$ denotes the space of coinvariant elements in $M$. Actually, it has been shown that this result characterizes Hopf algebras: $H$ is a Hopf algebra if and only if every Hopf module $M$ can be decomposed in such a way. The main aim of this paper is to extend this characterization to the framework of quasi-bialgebras by introducing the notion of preantipode and b…
In this paper, the $(p,q)$-derivative and the $(p,q)$-integration are investigated. Two suitable polynomials bases for the $(p,q)$-derivative are provided and various properties of these bases are given. As application, two $(p,q)$-Taylor formulas for polynomials are given, the fundamental theorem of $(p,q)$-calculus is included and the formula of $(p,q)$-integration by part is proved.
Affine W-algebras are a somewhat complicated family of (topological) associative algebras associated with a semisimple Lie algebra, quantizing functions on the algebraic loop space of Kostant's slice. They have attracted a great deal of attention in geometric representation theory because of Feigin-Frenkel's duality theorem for them, which identifies W-algebras for a Lie algebra and its Langlands dual through a subtle construction. The main result of this paper is an affine version of Skryabin's theorem, describing the category of modules over the W-algebra in simpler categorical terms. But un…
Let $(W,S)$ be a finite Coxeter system with root system $R$ and with set of positive roots $R^+$. For $α\in R$, $v,w\in W$, we denote by $\partial_α$, $\partial_w$ and $\partial_{w/v}$ the divided difference operators and skew divided difference operators acting on the coinvariant algebra of $W$. Generalizing the work of Liu, we prove that $\partial_{w/v}$ can be written as a polynomial with nonnegative coefficients in $\partial_α$ where $α\in R^+$. In fact, we prove the stronger and analogous statement in the Nichols-Woronowicz algebra model for Schubert calculus on $W$ after Bazlov. We draw …
The "fundamental theorem of Vassiliev invariants" says that every weight system can be integrated to a knot invariant. We discuss four different approaches to the proof of this theorem: a topological/combinatorial approach following M. Hutchings, a geometrical approach following Kontsevich, an algebraic approach following Drinfel'd's theory of associators, and a physical approach coming from the Chern-Simons quantum field theory. Each of these approaches is unsatisfactory in one way or another, and hence we argue that we still don't really understand the fundamental theorem of Vassiliev invari…
We consider a product of fundamental crystals in monomial realization of type A. Then we shall show that the product holds crystal structure and describe how it is decomposed into irreducible crystals, which is, in general, different from the decomposition for tensor product of the fundamental crystals.
We describe an approach to the noncommutative instantons on the 4-sphere based on quantum group theory. We quantize the Hopf bundle S^7 --> S^4 making use of the concept of quantum coisotropic subgroups. The analysis of the semiclassical Poisson--Lie structure of U(4) shows that the diagonal SU(2) must be conjugated to be properly quantized. The quantum coisotropic subgroup we obtain is the standard SU_q(2); it determines a new deformation of the 4-sphere Sigma^4_q as the algebra of coinvariants in S_q^7. We show that the quantum vector bundle associated to the fundamental corepresentation of …
The ideal I generated by the 2x2 quantum minors in the algebra A = O_q(M_{m,n}(k)) (the quantized coordinate algebra of mxn matrices) is investigated. Analogues of the First and Second Fundamental Theorems of Invariant Theory are proved. In particular, it is shown that I is a completely prime ideal, that is, A/I is an integral domain, and that A/I is the ring of coinvariants of a coaction of k[x,x^{-1}] on O_q(k^m) tensor O_q(k^n), a tensor product of two quantum affine spaces. (That the ideal of A generated by the txt quantum minors, for any t, is completely prime is proved in the authors' pa…
We define and study dense Frechet subalgebras of compact quantum groups consisting of elements rapidly decreasing with respect to an unbounded sequence of real numbers. Further, this sequence can be viewed as the eigenvalues of a Dirac-like operator and we characterize the boundedness of its commutators in terms of the eigenvalues. Grotendieck's theory of topological tensor products immediately yields a Schwartz kernel theorem for linear operators on compact quantum groups and allows us to introduce a natural class of pseudo-differential operators on compact quantum groups. As a by-product, we…
In this paper we introduce the notion of weak non-asssociative Doi-Hopf module and give the Fundamental Theorem of Hopf modules in this setting. Also we prove that there exists a categorical equivalence that admits as particular instances the ones constructed in the literature for Hopf algebras, weak Hopf algebras, Hopf quasigroups, and weak Hopf quasigroups.
