Associative rings A, B are called Morita equivalent when the categories of left modules over them are equivalent. We call two classical linear operads P, Q Morita equivalent if the categories of algebras over them are equivalent. We transport a part of Morita theory to the operadic context by studying modules over operads. As an application of this philosophy, we consider an operadic version of the sheaf of linear differential operators ona a (super) manifold M and give a comparison theorem between algebras over this sheaf on M and M_{red}. The paper is dedicated to A.N.Tyurin on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
We investigate the equivariant and Hopf-cyclic cohomology of module algebras over Hopf algebroids and derive their Morita invariance. For this, we use the tools developed by McCarthy for $k$-linear categories and subsequently by Kaygun and Khalkhali for a certain class of categories, called as $H$-categories, for a Hopf algebra $H$.
This article aims at a detailed analysis of the PreLie operad. We obtain a more concrete description of the relationship between the anticyclic structure of PreLie and the generators of PreLie as a Lie-module, which was known before only at the level of characters. Building on this, we obtain an inclusion of the cyclic Lie module in the PreLie operad. We conjecture that the image of this inclusion generates an interesting free sub-operad.
In this paper, we describe a general theory of modules over an algebra over an operad. We also study functors between categories of modules. Specializing to the operad E_d of little d-dimensional disks, we show that each (d-1)-manifold gives rise to a theory of modules over E_d-algebras and each bordism gives rise to a functor from the category defined by its incoming boundary to the category defined by its outgoing boundary. We describe how to assemble these categories into a map from a certain operad to the operad of (infinity)-categories.
Let $A$ be an algebra over an operad in a cocomplete closed symmetric monoidal category. We study the category of $A$-modules. We define certain symmetric product functors of such modules generalising the tensor product of modules over commutative algebras, which we use to define the notion of a jet module. This in turn generalises the notion of a jet module over a module over a classical commutative algebra. We are able to define Atiyah classes (i.e. obstructions to the existence of connections) in this generalised context. We use certain model structures on the category of $A$-modules to stu…
We show that modular operads are equivalent to modules over a certain simple properad which we call the Brauer properad. Furthermore, we show that, in this setting, the Feynman transform corresponds to the cobar construction for modules of this kind. To make this precise, we extend the machinery of the bar and cobar constructions relative to a twisting morphism to modules over a general properad. This generalizes the classical case of algebras over an operad and might be of independent interest. As an application, we sketch a Koszul duality theory for modular operads.
The structure of anticyclic operad on the Dendriform operad defines in particular a matrix of finite order acting on the vector space spanned by planar binary trees. We compute its characteristic polynomial and propose a (compatible) conjecture for the characteristic polynomial of the Coxeter transformation for the Tamari lattice, which is mostly a square root of this matrix.
We extend Morita theory to abelian categories by using wide Morita contexts. Several equivalence results are given for wide Morita contexts between abelian categories, widely extending equivalence theorems for categories of modules and comodules due to Kato, Muller and Berbec. In the case of Grothendieck categories we derive equivalence results by using quotient categories. We apply the general equivalence results to rings with identity, rings with local units, graded rings, Doi-Hopf modules and coalgebras.
In this article, we show under what additional ingredients a comp (or opposite) module over an operad with multiplication can be given the structure of a cyclic k-module and how the underlying simplicial homology gives rise to a Batalin-Vilkovisky module over the cohomology of the operad. In particular, one obtains a generalised Lie derivative and a generalised (cyclic) cap product that obey a Cartan-Rinehart homotopy formula, and hence yield the structure of a noncommutative differential calculus in the sense of Nest, Tamarkin, Tsygan, and others. Examples include the calculi known for the Ho…
Let O be a topological (colored) operad. The Lurie infinity-category of O-algebras with values in (infinity-category of) complexes is compared to the infinity-category underlying the model category of (classical) dg O-algebras. This can be interpreted as a "rectification" result for Lurie operad algebras. A similar result is obtained for modules over operad algebras, as well as for algebras over topological PROPs.
Two Hopf algebras are called monoidally Morita equivalent if module categories over them are equivalent as linear monoidal categories. We introduce monoidal Morita invariants for finite-dimensional Hopf algebras based on certain braid group representations arising from the Drinfeld double construction. As an application, we show, for any integer $n$, the number of elements of order $n$ is a monoidal Morita invariant for finite group algebras. We also describe relations between our construction and invariants of closed 3-manifolds due to Reshetikhin and Turaev.
The monoidal version of classical Morita theory is a theory of bialgebroids. To make this explicit we construct a bicategory the objects of which are the bialgebroids and in which equivalence of objects means that the corresponding module categories are monoidally equivalent. The module categories of bialgebroids and of Frobenius Hopf algebroids are characterized by the existence of strong comonoid progenerators and strong Frobenius progenerators, respectively.
We make a first step towards categorification of the dendriform operad, using categories of modules over the Tamari lattices. This means that we describe some functors that correspond to part of the operad structure.
The aim of the paper is to give an `elementary' introduction to the theory of modules over operads and discuss three prominent examples of these objects - simplex, associahedron (= the Stasheff polyhedron) and cyclohedron (= the compactification of the space of configurations of points on the circle). Keywords: (right) module over an operad, module associated to a cyclic operad, Koszul module over an operad.
Given a symmetric operad $\mathcal{P}$ and a $\mathcal{P}$-algebra $V$, the associative universal enveloping algebra ${\mathsf{U}_{\mathcal{P}}}$ is an associative algebra whose category of modules is isomorphic to the abelian category of $V$-modules. We study the notion of PBW property for universal enveloping algebras over an operad. In case $\mathcal{P}$ is Koszul a criterion for the PBW property is found. A necessary condition on the Hilbert series for $\mathcal{P}$ is discovered. Moreover, given any symmetric operad $\mathcal{P}$, together with a Gröbner basis $G$, a condition is given in…
On obtient une relation entre la transformation de Coxeter agissant sur le groupe de Grothendieck de la categorie derivee des modules sur un poset de Tamari d'une part et la structure de l'operade anticyclique dendriforme d'autre part. A relation between the anticyclic structure of the dendriform operad and the Coxeter transformations in the Grothendieck groups of the derived categories of modules over the Tamari posets is obtained.
We define closed model category structures on different categories connected to the world of operad algebras over the category C(k) of (unbounded) complexes of k-modules: on the category of operads, on the category of algebras over a fixed operad, on the category of modules over a fixed operad algebra. In Sections 2 - 6 we define the necessary structures and provide some standard comparison results. In Section 7 we define cotangent complex. In Section 8 we define a canonical structure of homotopy Lie algebra on the tangent complex.
Given a fusion category $\mathcal{C}$ and an indecomposable $\mathcal{C}$-module category $\mathcal{M}$, the fusion category $\mathcal{C}^*_\mathcal{M}$ of $\mathcal{C}$-module endofunctors of $\mathcal{M}$ is called the (Morita) dual fusion category of $\mathcal{C}$ with respect to $\mathcal{M}$. We describe tensor functors between two arbitrary duals $\mathcal{C}^*_\mathcal{M}$ and $\mathcal{D}^*_\mathcal{N}$ in terms of data associated to $\mathcal{C}$ and $\mathcal{D}$. We apply the results to $G$-equivariantizations of fusion categories and group-theoretical fusion categories. We describe…
We show that the family of chain modules over the standard simplices can be equipped with an operad structure. Similarly, the family of cochain modules of the Stasheff polytopes can be equipped with an operad structure. We first show that these operads are Koszul dual to each other, and second that they are both Koszul operads. The algebras over the standard simplices operad, called associative trialgebras, are defined by 3 operations and 11 relations. The algebras over the Stasheff polytopes operad, called dendriform trialgebras, are defined by 3 operations and 7 relations.
Projective cotangent bundles of complex manifolds are the local models of complex contact manifolds. Such bundles are quantized by the algebra of microdifferential operators (a localization of the algebra of differential operators on the base manifold). Kashiwara proved that any complex contact manifold $X$ is quantized by a canonical microdifferential algebroid (a linear stack locally equivalent to an algebra of microdifferential operators). Besides the canonical one, there can be other microdifferential algebroids on $X$. Our aim is to classify them. More precisely, let $Y$ be the symplectif…
A finite tensor category is called pointed if all its simple objects are invertible. We find necessary and sufficient conditions for two pointed semisimple categories to be dual to each other with respect to a module category. Whenever the dual of a pointed semisimple category with respect to a module category is pointed, we give explicit formulas for the Grothendieck ring and for the associator of the dual. This leads to the definition of categorical Morita equivalence on the set of all finite groups and on the set of all pairs (G, w), where G is a finite group and w is a 3-cocycle on G. A gr…
We investigated the representation thoery of an Ariki-Koike algebra whose Poincare polynomial associated with the "bottom", i.e., the subgroup on which the symmetric group acts, is non-zero in the base field. We proved that the module category of such an Ariki-Koike algebra is Morita equivalent to the module category of a direct sum of tensor products of Hecke algebras associated with certain symmetric groups. We also generalized this Morita equivalence theorem to give a Morita equivalenve between a $q$-Schur$^m$ algebra and a direct sum of tensor products of certain $q$-Schur algebras.
The transfer of the generating operations of an algebra to a homotopy equivalent chain complex produces higher operations. The first goal of this paper is to describe precisely the higher structure obtained when the unary operations commute with the contracting homotopy. To solve this problem, we develop the Koszul duality theory of operads in the category of modules over a cocommutative Hopf algebra. This gives rise to a simpler category of homotopy algebras and infinity-morphisms, which allows us to get a new description of the homotopy category of algebras over such operads. The main exampl…
We give a complete classification of pointed fusion categories over $\mathbb{C}$ of global dimension $p^3$ for $p$ any odd prime. We proceed to classify the equivalence classes of pointed fusion categories of dimension $p^3$ and we determine which of these equivalence classes have equivalent categories of modules.
In this paper we give a complete classification of pointed fusion categories over $\mathbb{C}$ of global dimension 8. We first classify the equivalence classes of pointed fusion categories of dimension 8, and then we proceed to determine which of these equivalence classes have equivalent categories of modules. This classificaction permits to classify the equivalence classes of braded tensor equivalences of twisted Drinfeld doubles of finite groups of order 8.
A pointed fusion category is a rigid tensor category with finitely many isomorphism classes of simple objects which moreover are invertible. Two tensor categories $C$ and $D$ are weakly Morita equivalent if there exists an indecomposable right module category $M$ over $C$ such that $Fun_C(M,M)$ and $D$ are tensor equivalent. We use the Lyndon-Hochschild-Serre spectral sequence associated to abelian group extensions to give necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of cohomology classes for two pointed fusion categories to be weakly Morita equivalent. This result may permit to classify the e…
We classify fusion categories which are Morita equivalent to even parts of subfactors with index $3+\sqrt{5} $, and module categories over these fusion categories. For the fusion category $\mathcal{C} $ which is the even part of the self-dual $3^{\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z} \times \mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z} } $ subfactor, we show that there are $30$ simple module categories over $ \mathcal{C}$; there are no other fusion categories in the Morita equivalence class; and the order of the Brauer-Picard group is $360$. The proof proceeds indirectly by first describing the Brauer-Picard groupoid of a $ \mathb…
In this note we recall some recent progress in understanding the representation theory of *-algebras over rings C = R(i) where R is ordered and i^2 = -1. The representation spaces are modules over auxiliary *-algebras with inner products taking values in this auxiliary *-algebra. The ring ordering allows to implement positivity requirements for the inner products. Then the representations are required to be compatible with the inner product. Moreover, one can add the notion of symmetry in form of Hopf algebra actions. For all these notions of representations there is a well-established Morita …

We introduce notions of open-string vertex algebra, conformal open-string vertex algebra and variants of these notions. These are ``open-string-theoretic,'' ``noncommutative'' generalizations of the notions of vertex algebra and of conformal vertex algebra. Given an open-string vertex algebra, we show that there exists a vertex algebra, which we call the ``meromorphic center,'' inside the original algebra such that the original algebra yields a module and also an intertwining operator for the meromorphic center. This result gives us a general method for constructing open-string vertex algebras…
