We prove a direct analogue of the classical Duflo formula in the case of $L_\infty$-algebras. We conjecture an analogous formula in the case of an arbitrary Q-manifold. When $G$ is a compact connected Lie group, the Duflo theorem for the Q-manifold $(ΠTG,d_{DR})$ is exactly the Duflo theorem for the Lie algebra $g = Lie G$. The corresponding theorem for the Q-manifold $(ΠTM,d_{DR})$, where $M$ is an arbitrary smooth manifold, is a generalization of the Duflo theorem for the case of smooth manifolds. On the other hand, the Duflo theorem for the Q-manifold $(Π\bar T_{hol} M, \bar\partial)$, where $M$ is a complex manifold, is a generalization of the M. Kontsevich's ``theorem on complex manifold'' [K1], Sect. 8.4.
For a finite dimensional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, the Duflo map $S\mathfrak{g}\rightarrow U\mathfrak{g}$ defines an isomorphism of $\mathfrak{g}$-modules. On $\mathfrak{g}$-invariant elements it gives an isomorphism of algebras. Moreover, it induces an isomorphism of algebras on the level of Lie algebra cohomology $H(\mathfrak{g},S\mathfrak{g})\rightarrow H(\mathfrak{g}, U\mathfrak{g})$. However, as shown by J. Alm and S. Merkulov, it cannot be extended in a universal way to an $A_\infty$-isomorphism between the corresponding Chevalley-Eilenberg complexes. In this paper, we give an elementa…
We prove the 0-(co)homology part of the conjecture on the cup-products on tangent cohomology in the Tsygan formality [Sh2]. We discuss its applications to the Duflo formula.
$\newcommand{\poly}{_{\operatorname{poly}}^{\bullet}}\newcommand{\td}{(\operatorname{td}_{L/A}^{\nabla})^{\frac{1}{2}}}\newcommand{\cx}[1]{\operatorname{tot}\big(Γ(Λ^\bullet A^\vee)\otimes_R\mathcal{#1}\poly\big)}\newcommand{\cy}[1]{\mathbb{H}^\bullet_{\operatorname{CE}}(A,\mathcal{#1}\poly)}$Kontsevich's formality theorem states that there exists an $L_\infty$ quasi-isomorphism from the dgla $T\poly(M)$ of polyvector fields on a smooth manifold $M$ to the dgla $D\poly(M)$ of polydifferential operators on $M$, which extends the classical Hochschild--Kostant--Rosenberg map. In this paper, we ex…
In this paper we prove, with details and in full generality, that the isomorphism induced on tangent homology by the Shoikhet-Tsygan formality $L_\infty$-quasi-isomorphism for Hochschild chains is compatible with cap-products. This is a homological analog of the compatibility with cup-products of the isomorphism induced on tangent cohomology by Kontsevich formality $L_\infty$-quasi-isomorphism for Hochschild cochains. As in the cohomological situation our proof relies on a homotopy argument involving a variant of {\bf Kontsevich eye}. In particular we clarify the rôle played by the {\bf I-cube…
We explain a direct topological proof for the multiplicativity of Duflo isomorphism for arbitrary finite dimensional Lie algebras, and derive the explicit formula for the Duflo map. The proof follows a series of implications, starting with "the calculation 1+1=2 on a 4D abacus", using the study of homomorphic expansions (aka universal finite type invariants) for ribbon 2-knots, and the relationship between the corresponding associated graded space of arrow diagrams and universal enveloping algebras. This complements the results of the first author, Le and Thurston, where similar arguments usin…
We prove that when Kontsevich's deformation quantization is applied on weight homogeneous Poisson structures, the operators in the $\ast-$ product formula are weight homogeneous. We then consider the linear Poisson case $X=\mathfrak{g}^\ast$ for a semi simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. As an application we provide an isomorphism between the Cattaneo-Felder-Torossian reduction algebra $H^0(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{m},χ)$ and the $W-$ algebra $(U(\mathfrak{g})/U(\mathfrak{g})\mathfrak{m}_χ)^\mathfrak{m}$. We also show that in the $W-$ algebra setting, $(S(\mathfrak{g})/S(\mathfrak{g})\mathfrak{m}…
In 1979, M. Kashiwara and M. Vergne formulated a conjecture on a Lie group G which implies that the Duflo isomorphism of Z(g) and S(g)^g extends to a natural module isomorphism between the spaces of germs of invariant distributions on G and g=Lie(G), respectively. They also proved their conjecture for G solvable. Using Kontsevich's deformation quantization we establish directly this result for distributions on any real Lie group G. In turn this gives a new proof of Duflo's result on the local solvability of bi-invariant differential operators on G.
We introduce a tensor category O_+ (resp. O_{-}) of certain modules of gl_{\infty} with non-negative (resp. non-positive) integral central charges with the usual tensor product. We also introduce a tensor category O_f consisting of certain modules over GL(N) for all N. We show that the tensor categories O_+, O_{-} and O_f are semisimple abelian and all equivalent to each other. We give a formula to decompose a tensor product of two modules in each of these categories. We also introduce a tensor category O^w of certain modules over W_{1 +\infty} with non-negative integral central charges. We sh…
Using elementary equalities between various cables of the unknot and the Hopf link, we prove the Wheels and Wheeling conjectures of [Bar-Natan, Garoufalidis, Rozansky and Thurston, arXiv:q-alg/9703025] and [Deligne, letter to Bar-Natan, January 1996, http://www.ma.huji.ac.il/~drorbn/Deligne/], which give, respectively, the exact Kontsevich integral of the unknot and a map intertwining two natural products on a space of diagrams. It turns out that the Wheeling map is given by the Kontsevich integral of a cut Hopf link (a bead on a wire), and its intertwining property is analogous to the computa…
Let $q=e^{2πiτ}$, $\Imτ>0$, $x=e^{2πiξ}\in\CC$ and $(x;q)_\infty=\prod_{n\ge 0}(1-xq^n)$. Let $(q,x)\mapsto(q^*,ι_q x)$ be the classical modular substitution given by $q^*=e^{-2πi/τ}$ and $ι_q x=e^{2πiξ/τ}$. The main goal of this Note is to study the "modular behaviour" of the infinite product $(x;q)_\infty$, this means, to compare the function defined by $(x;q)_\infty$ with that given by $(ι_q x;q^*)_\infty$. Inspired by the work of Stieltjes on some semi-convergent series, we are led to a "closed" analytic formula for $(x;q)_\infty$ by means of the dilogarithm combined with a Laplace type in…
We consider linear star products on $R^d$ of Lie algebra type. First we derive the closed formula for the polydifferential representation of the corresponding Lie algebra generators. Using this representation we define the Weyl star product on the dual of the Lie algebra. Then we construct a gauge operator relating the Weyl star product with the one which is closed with respect to some trace functional, $Tr( f\star g)= Tr( f\cdot g)$. We introduce the derivative operator on the algebra of the closed star product and show that the corresponding Leibnitz rule holds true up to a total derivative.…
We introduce a notion of left homotopy for Maurer--Cartan elements in $L_{\infty}$-algebras and $A_{\infty}$-algebras, and show that it corresponds to gauge equivalence in the differential graded case. From this we deduce a short formula for gauge equivalence, and provide an entirely homotopical proof to Schlessinger--Stasheff's theorem. As an application, we answer a question of T. Voronov, proving a non-abelian Poincaré lemma for differential forms taking values in an $L_{\infty}$-algebra.
In this note we consider the algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_\infty)$ and we study the category O of its integrable representations. The main motivations are applications to quantum toroidal algebras, more precisely predictions of character formulae for representations of quantum toroidal algebras. In this context, we state a general positivity conjecture for representations of $U_q(\hat{sl}_\infty)$ viewed as representations of quantum toroidal algebras, that we prove for Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules.
The infinite affine Lie algebras of type ABCD, also called $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}(\infty)$, $\widehat{\mathfrak{o}}(\infty)$, $\widehat{\mathfrak{sp}}(\infty)$, are equivalent to subalgebras of the quantum $W_{1+\infty}$ algebras. They have well-known representations on the Fock space of either a Dirac fermion ($\hat A_\infty$), a Majorana fermion ($\hat B_\infty$ and $\hat D_\infty$) or a symplectic boson ($\hat C_\infty$). Explicit formulas for the action of the quantum $W_{1+\infty}$ subalgebras on the Fock states are proposed for each representation. These formulas are the equivalent of …
We describe $L_\infty$-algebras governing homotopy relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and triangular $L_\infty$-bialgebras, and establish a map between them. Our formulas are based on a functorial approach to Voronov's higher derived brackets construction which is of independent interest.
We give a detailed account of the cyclic $L_\infty$-algebra formulation of general relativity with cosmological constant in the Einstein-Cartan-Palatini formalism on spacetimes of arbitrary dimension and signature, which encompasses all symmetries, field equations and Noether identities of gravity without matter fields. We present a local formulation as well as a global covariant framework, and an explicit isomorphism between the two $L_\infty$-algebras in the case of parallelizable spacetimes. By duality, we show that our $L_\infty$-algebras describe the complete BV-BRST formulation of Einste…
Let $L$ be a link in a thickened annulus. Grigsby-Licata-Wehrli showed that the annular Khovanov homology of $L$ is equipped with an action of $sl_2(\wedge)$, the exterior current algebra of the Lie algebra $sl_2$. In this paper, we upgrade this result to the setting of $L_\infty$-algebras and modules. That is, we show that $sl_2(\wedge)$ is an $L_\infty$-algebra and that the annular Khovanov homology of $L$ is an $L_\infty$-module over $sl_2(\wedge)$. Up to $L_\infty$-quasi-isomorphism, this structure is invariant under Reidemeister moves. Finally, we include explicit formulas to compute the …
We show that the vertex algebra W{1+ \infty} with central charge -1 is isomorphic to a tensor product of the simple W_3 algebra with central charge -2 and a Heisenberg vertex algebra generated by a free bosonic field. We construct a family of irreducible modules of the W_3 algebra with central charge -2 in terms of free fields and calculate the full character formulas of these modules with respect to the full Cartan subalgebra of the W_3 algebra.
In this paper we propose a reduction scheme for multivector fields phrased in terms of $L_\infty$-morphisms. Using well-know geometric properties of the reduced manifolds we perform a Taylor expansion of multivector fields, which allows us to built up a suitable deformation retract of DGLA's. We first obtained an explicit formula for the $L_\infty$-Projection and -Inclusion of generic DGLA retracts. We then applied this formula to the deformation retract that we constructed in the case of multivector fields on reduced manifolds. This allows us to obtain the desired reduction $L_\infty$-morphis…
