We prove a topological result concerning the kernel of a morphism d : E --> F of holomorphic vector bundles over a complex analytic space. As a consequence, we show that the projectivization P(ker d) is a quasifibration up to some dimension. We give an application to the Abel-Jacobi map of a Riemann surface, and to the space of rational curves in the symmetric product of a Riemann surface.
The goal of this work is to pursue the study of pseudo-effective line bundles and vector bundles. Our first result is a generalization of the Hard Lefschetz theorem for cohomology with values in a pseudo-effective line bundle. The Lefschetz map is shown to be surjective when (and, in general, only when) the pseudo-effective line bundle is twisted by its multiplier ideal sheaf. This result has several geometric applications, e.g. to the study of compact Kähler manifolds with pseudo-effective canonical or anti-canonical line bundles. Another concern is to understand pseudo-effectivity in more al…
We consider stable and semistable principal bundles over a smooth projective real algebraic curve, equipped with a real or pseudo-real structure in the sense of Atiyah. After fixing suitable topological invariants, one can build a suitable gauge theory, and show that the resulting moduli spaces of pseudo-real bundles are connected. This in turn allows one to describe the various fixed point varieties on the complex moduli spaces under the action of the real involutions on the curve and the structure group.
We propose a conjectural list of Fano manifolds of Picard number $1$ with pseudoeffective normalized tangent bundles, which we prove in various situations by relating it to the complete divisibility conjecture of Russo and Zak on varieties with small codegree. Furthermore, the pseudoeffective thresholds and hence the pseudoeffective cones of the projectivized tangent bundles of rational homogeneous spaces of Picard number $1$ are explicitly determined by studying the total dual VMRT and the geometry of stratified Mukai flops. As a by-product, we obtain sharp vanishing theorems on the global tw…
Let $X$ be a normal, connected and projective variety over an algebraically closed field $k$. It is known that a vector bundle $V$ on $X$ is essentially finite if and only if it is trivialized by a proper surjective morphism $f:Y\to X$. In this paper we introduce a different approach to this problem which allows to extend the results to normal, connected and strongly pseudo-proper algebraic stack of finite type over an arbitrary field $k$.
We study projectivizations of a special class of toric vector bundles that includes cotangent bundles, whose associated Klyachko filtrations are particularly simple. For these projectivized bundles, we give generators for the cone of effective divisors and a presentation of the Cox ring as a polynomial algebra over the Cox ring of a blowup of a projective space along a sequence of linear subspaces. As applications, we show that the projectivized cotangent bundles of some toric varieties are not Mori dream spaces and give examples of projectivized toric vector bundles whose Cox rings are isomor…
In this article, we consider the projective bundle $\mathbb{P}_X(E)$ over a smooth complex projective variety $X$, where $E$ is a semistable bundle on $X$ with $c_2(End(E)) =0$. We give a necessary and sufficient condition to get the equality $ Nef^1\bigl(\mathbb{P}_X(E)\bigr) = \overline{Eff}^1\bigl(\mathbb{P}_X(E)\bigr)$ of nef cone and pseudoeffective cone of divisors in $\mathbb{P}_X(E)$. As an application of our result, we show the equality of nef and pseudoeffective cones of divisors of projective bundles over some special varieties. In particular, we show that weak Zariski decomposition…
Let $X$ be a compact connected Kähler manifold equipped with an anti-holomorphic involution which is compatible with the Kähler structure. Let $G$ be a connected complex reductive affine algebraic group equipped with a real form $σ_G$. We define pseudo-real principal $G$--bundles on $X$; these are generalizations of real algebraic principal $G$--bundles over a real algebraic variety. Next we define stable, semistable and polystable pseudo-real principal $G$--bundles. Their relationships with the usual stable, semistable and polystable principal $G$--bundles are investigated. We then prove that…
Using the new approach to analytic geometry developed by Clausen and Scholze by means of condensed mathematics, we prove that for every affinoid analytic adic space $X$, pseudocoherent complexes, perfect complexes, and finite projective modules over $\mathcal{O}_X(X)$ form a stack with respect to the analytic topology on $X$; in particular, we prove that the category of vector bundles on $X$ is equivalent to the category of finite projective modules over $\mathcal{O}_X(X)$. To that end, we construct a fully faithful functor from the category of complete Huber pairs to the category of analytic …
Let A be an elliptic curve, and let $V_A$ be the Serre vector bundle on A. A famous example of Demailly-Peternell-Schneider shows that the tautological class of $V_A$ contains a unique closed positive current. In this survey we start by generalising this statement to arbitrary compact Kähler manifolds. We then give an application to abelian fibrations $X \rightarrow Y$ where the total space X has pseudoeffective cotangent bundle and raise some questions about nonvanishing properties of these bundles.
In this article we consider log canonical pairs which are log-smooth. If the corresponding canonical bundle is pseudo-effective, then we show that any quotient of the orbifold cotangent bundle of the pair has a pseudo-effective determinant. One of the new ingredients in the proof is a generalization of the Bogomolov-McQuillan algebraicity criterion in the context of holomorphic foliations whose minimal slope with respect to a movable class is positive.
In this paper, we give complex geometric descriptions of the notions of algebraic geometric positivity of vector bundles and torsion-free coherent sheaves, such as nef, big, pseudo-effective and weakly positive, by using singular Hermitian metrics. As an applications, we obtain a generalization of Mori's result. We also give a characterization of the augmented base locus by using singular Hermitian metrics on vector bundles and the Lelong numbers.
We prove that a holomorphic line bundle on a projective manifold is pseudo-effective if and only if its degree on any member of a covering family of curves is non-negative. This is a consequence of a duality statement between the cone of pseudo-effective divisors and the cone of ``movable curves'', which is obtained from a general theory of movable intersections and approximate Zariski decomposition for closed positive (1,1)-currents. As a corollary, a projective manifold has a pseudo-effective canonical bundle if and only if it is is not uniruled. We also prove that a 4-fold with a canonical …
In this paper, we develop the theory of singular hermitian metrics on vector bundles. As an application, we give a structure theorem of a projective manifold $X$ with pseudo-effective tangent bundle: $X$ admits a smooth fibration $X \to Y$ to a flat projective manifold $Y$ such that its general fiber is rationally connected. Moreover, by applying this structure theorem, we classify all the minimal surfaces with pseudo-effective tangent bundle and study general non-minimal surfaces, which provide examples of (possibly singular) positively curved tangent bundles.
For a quasi-compact Kähler manifold $U$ endowed with a nilpotent harmonic bundle whose Higgs field is injective at one point, we prove that $U$ is pseudo-algebraically hyperbolic, pseudo-Picard hyperbolic, and is of log general type. Moreover, we prove that there is a finite unramified cover $\tilde{U}$ of $U$ from a quasi-projective manifold $\tilde{U}$ so that any projective compactification of $\tilde{U}$ is pseudo-algebraically hyperbolic, pseudo-Picard hyperbolic and is of general type. As a byproduct, we establish some criterion of pseudo-Picard hyperbolicity and pseudo-algebraic hyperbo…
We first present a Skoda type division theorem for holomorphic sections of line bundles on a projective variety which is essentially the most general, compared to previous ones. It is derived from Varolin's theorem as a corollary. Then we revisit Geometric Effective Nullstellensatz and observe that even this general Skoda division is far from sufficient to yield stronger Geometric Effective Nullstellensatz such as `vanishing order $1$ division', which could be used for finite generation of section rings by the basic finite generation lemma. To resolve this problem, we develop a notion of pseud…
In this paper, we study questions of Demailly and Matsumura on the asymptotic behavior of dimensions of cohomology groups for high tensor powers of (nef) pseudo-effective line bundles over non-necessarily projective algebraic manifolds. By generalizing Siu's $\partial\overline{\partial}$-formula and Berndtsson's eigenvalue estimate of $\overline{\partial}$-Laplacian and combining Bonavero's technique, we obtain the following result: given a holomorphic pseudo-effective line bundle $(L, h_L)$ on a compact Hermitian manifold $(X,ω)$, if $h_L$ is a singular metric with algebraic singularities, th…
In this note, we discuss the concept of pseudoeffective vector bundle and also introduce pseudoeffective torsion-free sheaves over compact Kähler manifolds. We show that a pseudoeffective reflexive sheaf over a compact Kähler manifold with vanishing first Chern class is in fact a numerically flat vector bundle. A proof is obtained through a natural construction of positive currents representing the Segre classes of pseudoeffective vector bundles.
The main result of the present article is a (practically optimal) criterium for the pseudoeffectivity of the twisted relative canonical bundles of surjective projective maps. Our theorem has several applications in algebraic geometry; to start with, we obtain the natural analytic generalization of some semipositivity results due to E. Viehweg and F. Campana. As a byproduct, we give a simple and direct proof of a recent result due to C. Hacon--J. McKernan, S. Takayama and H. Tsuji concerning the extension of twisted pluricanonical forms. More applications will be offered in the sequel of this a…
Let $X = \mathbb{P}(E_1) \times_C \mathbb{P}(E_2)$ where $C$ is a smooth curve and $E_1$, $E_2$ are vector bundles over $C$.In this paper we compute the pseudo effective cones of higher codimension cycles on $X$.

We formulate and establish a generalization of Kollár's injectivity theorem for adjoint bundles twisted by suitable multiplier ideal sheaves. As applications, we generalize Kollár's torsion-freeness, Kollár's vanishing theorem, and a generic vanishing theorem for pseudo-effective line bundles. Our approach is not Hodge theoretic but analytic, which enables us to treat singular Hermitian metrics with nonalgebraic singularities. For the proof of the main injectivity theorem, we use $L^{2}$-harmonic forms on noncompact Kähler manifolds. For applications, we prove a Bertini-type theorem on the res…
We present a systematic study of involutions on the moduli space of $G$-Higgs bundles over an elliptic curve $X$, where $G$ is complex reductive affine algebraic group. The fixed point loci in the moduli space of $G$-Higgs bundles on $X$, and in the moduli space of representations of the fundamental group of $X$ into $G$, are described. This leads to an explicit description of the moduli spaces of pseudo-real $G$-Higgs bundles over $X$.
Let $X$ be a compact Kähler manifold and let $(L, φ)$ be a pseudo-effective line bundle on $X$. We first define a notion of numerical dimension of pseudo-effective line bundles with singular metrics, and then discuss the properties of this type numerical dimension. We finally prove a very general Kawamata-Viehweg-Nadel type vanishing theorem on an arbitrary compact Kähler manifold.
We develop an intersection theory for a singular hemitian line bundle with positive curvature current on a smooth projective variety and irreducible curves on the variety. And we prove the existence of a natural rational fibration structure associated with the singular hermitian line bundle. Also for any pseudoeffective line bundle on a smooth projective variety, we prove the existence of a rational natural fibration structure associated with the line bundle. We also characterize a numerically trivial singular hermitain line bundle on a smooth projective variety.
In this work we deal with vector bundles of rank two on a Fano manifold $X$ with $b_2=b_4=1$. We study the nef and pseudoeffective cones of the corresponding projectivizations and how these cones are related to the decomposability of the vector bundle. As consequences, we obtain the complete list of $\mathbb{P}^1$-bundles over $X$ that have a second $\mathbb{P}^1$-bundle structure, classify all the uniform rank two vector bundles on this class of Fano manifolds and show the stability of indecomposable Fano bundles (with one exception on $\mathbb{P}^2$).
In this paper, we obtain optimal $L^2$ extension of holomorphic sections of a holomorphic vector bundle from subvarieties in weakly pseudoconvex Kähler manifolds. Moreover, in the case of line bundle the Hermitian metric is allowed to be singular.
Recent work on the log minimal model program for the moduli space of curves, as well as past results of Caporaso, Pandharipande, and Simpson motivate an investigation of compactifications of the universal moduli space of slope semi-stable vector bundles over moduli spaces of curves arising in the Hassett-Keel program. Our main result is the construction of a universal moduli space of slope semi-stable sheaves which compactifies the moduli space of vector bundles over the moduli space of pseudo-stable curves.
Let $E$ be a vector bundle of rank $r$ on a smooth complex projective variety $X$. In this article, we compute the nef and pseudoeffective cones of divisors in the Grassmann bundle $Gr_X(k,E)$ parametrizing $k$-dimensional subspaces of the fibers of $E$, where $1\leq k \leq rank(E)$, under assumptions on $X$ as well as on the vector bundle $E$. In particular, we show that nef cone and the pseudoeffective cone of $Gr_X(k,E)$ coincide if and only if $E$ is a slope semistable bundle on $X$ with $c_2(End(E))=0$. We also discuss about the nefness and ampleness of the universal quotient bundle $Q_k$…
We give a complete answer to the question of (semi)stability of tangent bundle of any nonsingular projective complex toric variety with Picard number 2 by using combinatorial crietrion of (semi)stability of an equivariant sheaf. We also give a complete answer to the question of (semi)stability of tangent bundle of all toric Fano 4-folds with Picard number (\leq) 3 which are classified by Batyrev \cite{batyrev}. We have constructed a collection of equivariant indecomposable rank 2 vector bundles on Bott tower and pseudo-symmetric toric Fano varieties. Further in case of Bott tower, we have show…
We prove an extension theorem for roots and logarithms of holomorphic line bundles across strictly pseudoconcave boundaries: they extend in all cases except one, when dimension and Morse index of a critical point is two. In that case we give an explicit description of obstructions to the extension.
In this short note, we prove that a complex Finsler vector bundle with positive Kobayashi curvature must be ample, which partially solves a problem of S. Kobayashi posed in 1975. As applications, a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold with positive Kobayashi curvature must be biholomorphic to the complex projective space; we also show that all Schur polynomials are numerically positive for complex Finsler vector bundles with positive Kobayashi curvature.
