We characterize the vector bundles on G(1,4) that have no intermediate cohomology. We obtain them from extensions of the universal bundles and others related with them. In particular, we get a characterization of the universal vector bundles from their cohomology.
A horospherical variety is a normal algebraic variety where a connected reductive algebraic group acts with an open orbit isomorphic to a torus bundle over a flag variety. In this article we study the cohomology of line bundles on complete horospherical varieties.
We find an algorithm to compute the cohomology groups of spherical vector bundles on complex projective K3 surfaces, in terms of their Mukai vectors. In many good cases, we give significant simplifications of the algorithm. As an application, when the Picard rank is one, we show a numerical condition that is equivalent to weak Brill-Noether for a spherical vector bundle.
We study Givental's Lagrangian cone for the quantum orbifold cohomology of toric stack bundles and prove that the I-function gives points in the Lagrangian cone, namely we construct an explicit slice of the Lagrangian cone defined by the genus $0$ Gromov-Witten theory of a toric stack bundle.
We show that a normalized rank two vector bundle, E, on P2 splits if and only if h1(E(-1)) = 0. Using this fact we give another proof of a theorem of Chiantini and Valabrega. Finally we describe the normalized bundles with h1(E(-1)) <= 4.
This note corrects a certain construction in (the old version of) the paper [GL]. The construction in question starts from a Brylinski-Deligne datum, which is an extension of a group G by K_2, and produces a factorization line bundle on the affine Grassmannian of the group G.
For $C$ a stable curve of arithmetic genus $g\ge 2$, and $\mathcal{D}$ the determinant of cohomology line bundle on $\operatorname{Bun}_{\operatorname{SL}(r)}(C)$, we show the section ring for the pair $(\operatorname{Bun}_{\operatorname{SL}(r)}(C), \mathcal{D})$ is finitely generated. Three applications are given.
In this paper, we show that the motive of the quaternionic Grassmannian $HP^n$ (as defined by I. Panin and C. Walter) splits in the category of effective MW-motives (as defined by B. Calmès, F. Déglise and J. Fasel). Moreover, we extend this result to an arbitrary symplectic bundle, obtaining the so-called quaternionic projective bundle theorem. Finally, we give the Gysin triangle in MW-motivic cohomology.
There is a standard method to calculate the cohomology of torus-invariant sheaves $L$ on a toric variety via the simplicial cohomology of associated subsets $V(L)$ of the space $N_{\mathbb R}$ of 1-parameter subgroups of the torus. For a line bundle $L$ represented by a formal difference $Δ^+-Δ^-$ of polyhedra in the character space $M_{\mathbb R}$, [ABKW18] contains a simpler formula for the cohomology of $L$, replacing $V(L)$ by the set-theoretic difference $Δ^- \setminus Δ^+$. Here, we provide a short and direct proof of this formula.
A vector bundle on a projective variety has a natural cohomology if for every twist its cohomology is concentrated in a single degree. Eisenbud and Schreyer conjectured there should be vector bundles on $\mathbb{P}^1 \times \mathbb{P}^1$ with natural cohomology with respect to bundles $\mathcal{O}(1,0),\mathcal{O}(0,1)$ with prescribed Hilbert polynomial. We prove this conjecture.
This paper is a companion of the paper "Weil's conjecture for function fields" by J. Lurie and the author. We present a different exposition of essentially the same algebro-geometric proof of the Atiyah-Bott for the cohomology of Bun(G), which subsequently leads to the proof of the Tamagawa number formula for the volume of the automorphic space for function fields.
Let $(X,\,D)$ be an $m$-pointed compact Riemann surface of genus at least $2$. For each $x \,\in\, D$, fix full flag and concentrated weight system $α$. Let $P \mathcal{M}_ξ$ denote the moduli space of semi-stable parabolic vector bundles of rank $r$ and determinant $ξ$ over $X$ with weight system $α$, where $r$ is a prime number and $ξ$ is a holomorphic line bundle over $X$ of degree $d$ which is not a multiple of $r$. We compute the Chen-Ruan cohomology of the orbifold for the action on $P \mathcal{M}_ξ$ of the group of $r$-torsion points in ${\rm Pic}^0(X)$.
In this paper, we provide two different resolutions of structural sheaves of projectivized tangent bundles of smooth complete intersections. These resolutions allow in particular to obtain convenient (and completely explicit) descriptions of cohomology of twisted symmetric powers of cotangent bundles of complete intersections, which are easily implemented on computer. We then provide several applications. First, we recover the known vanishing theorems on the subject, and show that they are optimal via some non-vanishing theorems. Then, we study the symmetric algebra of global sections of symme…
Computing the cohomology of the tensor product of two vector bundles is central in the study of their moduli spaces and in applications to representation theory, combinatorics and physics. These computations play a fundamental role in the construction of Brill-Noether loci, birational geometry and $S$-duality. Using recent advances in the Minimal Model Program for moduli spaces of sheaves on $\mathbb{P}^2$, we compute the cohomology of the tensor product of general semistable bundles on $\mathbb{P}^2$. This solves a natural higher rank generalization of the polynomial interpolation problem. Mo…
Let $L_1,\dots,L_s$ be line bundles on a smooth variety $X\subset \mathbb{P}^r$ and let $D_1,\dots,D_s$ be divisors on $X$ such that $D_i$ represents $L_i$. We give a probabilistic algorithm for computing the degree of intersections of polar classes which are in turn used for computing the Euler characteristic of linear combinations of $L_1,\dots,L_s$. The input consists of generators for the homogeneous ideals $I_X, I_{D_i} \subset \mathbb{C}[x_0,\ldots,x_r]$ defining $X$ and $D_i$.
In this paper, we study the cohomology of vector bundles on projective space defined as kernels or cokernels of general maps $V_1 \to V_2$, where the $V_i$ are direct sums of line bundles or certain exceptional bundles. We prove an asymptotic cohomology vanishing theorem. We characterize the stability of general Steiner bundles on projective space. We also give a criterion for a Steiner bundle to be ample.
We prove the Hodge symmetry type result on the Dolbeault cohomology of Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds with values in the direct sum of holomorphic line bundles. Consequently, we show the vanishing and non-vanishing of Dolbeault cohomology of Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds with values in holomorphic line bundles.
We conjecture and prove closed-form index expressions for the cohomology dimensions of line bundles on del Pezzo and Hirzebruch surfaces. Further, for all compact toric surfaces we provide a simple algorithm which allows expression of any line bundle cohomology in terms of an index. These formulae follow from general theorems we prove for a wider class of surfaces. In particular, we construct a map that takes any effective line bundle to a nef line bundle while preserving the zeroth cohomology dimension. For complex surfaces, these results explain the appearance of piecewise polynomial equatio…
We show that the zeroth cohomology of effective line bundles on del Pezzo and Hirzebruch surfaces can always be computed in terms of a topological index.
