Given an elliptic curve E --> B over a base B with zero section i, we denote, letting E':= E - i(B), by L(E) the Q-vector space with basis ({s}, s \in E'(B)). Assume that B is smooth and separated over a field of characteristic 0. On the lowest step, the weak version of the elliptic Zagier conjecture predicts the existence of a homomorphism ϕfrom the kernel of a certain differential d on L(E) to the vector space O*(B) \otimes Q of units on B. This homomorphism should behave functorially with respect to change of the base B, and it should satisfy a certain norm compatibility. Also, if B is the spectrum of a local field, then the absolute value of ϕshould be expressible in terms of the local Néron height function. In this paper, we give a proof of this. We also connect the values of ϕon specific elements of ker(d) to modular, and to elliptic units.
We study the interpolation of Hodge-Tate and de Rham periods over rigid analytic families of Galois representations. Given a Galois representation on a coherent locally free sheaf over a reduced rigid space and a bounded range of weights, we obtain a stratification of this space by locally closed subvarieties where the Hodge-Tate and bounded de Rham periods (within this range) as well as 1-cocycles form locally free sheaves. We also prove strong vanishing results for higher cohomology. Together, these results give a simultaneous generalization of results of Sen, Kisin, and Berger-Colmez. The m…
We prove that if $W$ and $W'$ are two $B$-pairs whose tensor product is crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate), then there exists a character $μ$ such that $W(μ^{-1})$ and $W'(μ)$ are crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate). We also prove that if $W$ is a $B$-pair and $F$ is a Schur functor (for example $\Sym^n(-)$ or $Λ^n(-)$) such that $F(W)$ is crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate) and if the rank of $W$ is sufficiently large, then there is a character $μ$ such that $W(μ^{-1})$ is crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate). In particul…
We prove a Hodge-type decomposition for the de-Rham cohomology of $ p$-adically uniformized varieties by the product of Drinfeld's symmetric spaces. It is based on work of Schneider, Stuhler, Iovita and Spiess on the cohomology of Drinfeld's symmetric space.
Let $X$ be an algebraic curve with an action of a finite group $G$ over a field $k$. We show that if the Hodge-de Rham short exact sequence of $X$ splits $G$-equivariantly then the action of $G$ on $X$ is weakly ramified. In particular, this generalizes the result of Köck and Tait for hyperelliptic curves. We discuss also converse statements and tie this problem to lifting coverings of curves to the ring of Witt vectors of length $2$.
Derived de Rham cohomology has been recently used in several contexts, as in works of Beilinson and Bhatt on p-adic periods morphisms and Morin on numerical invariants for special values of zeta functions. Inspired by some results of Morin, we aimed to compute Hodge completed derived de Rham complex in the case of a rings map $\mathbb{Z}\longrightarrow k$, factoring through $\mathbb{F}_p$, with $k$ a perfect ring (i.e. the Frobenius map is an automorphism).
In this follow-up paper we show that smooth Hodge-proper stacks over $\mathcal O_K$ are $\mathbb Q_p$-locally acyclic: namely the natural map between étale $\mathbb Q_p$-cohomology of the algebraic and Raynaud generic fibers is an equivalence. This establishes the $\mathbb Q_p$-case of general conjectures made in our previous work. As a corollary, we get that if a smooth Artin stack over $K$ has a smooth Hodge-proper model over $\mathcal O_K$, its $\mathbb Q_p$-étale cohomology is a crystalline Galois representation. We then also establish a truncated version of the above results in more gener…
We introduce a notion of a Hodge-proper stack and extend the method of Deligne-Illusie to prove the Hodge-to-de Rham degeneration in this setting. In order to reduce the statement in characteristic $0$ to characteristic $p$, we need to find a good integral model of a stack (a so-called spreading), which, unlike in the case of schemes, need not to exist in general. To address this problem we investigate the property of spreadability in more detail by generalizing standard spreading out results for schemes to higher Artin stacks and showing that all proper and some global quotient stacks are Hod…
We develop an explicit algebriac de Rham theory for relative completion of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. This allows the construction of iterated integrals involving modular forms of the second kind, generalizing iterated integrals of holomorphic modular forms that were previously studied by Brown and Manin. These newly constructed iterated integrals provide all 'multiple modular values' defined by Brown.
This paper is an exposition of the completion of a modular group with respect to its inclusion into SL_2(Q) and the connection with the theory of modular forms and variations of mixed Hodge structure over modular curves. Among the goals of this paper are to give a context to Manin's iterated Shimura integrals (iterated integrals of modular forms) and to study relations in the "maximal Eisenstein quotient" of the completion of SL_2(Z). In particular, we use a computation of Terasoma to prove that Pollack's quadratic relations in the derivation Lie algebra of a rank two free Lie algebra lift to …
We establish an Eichler-Shimura isomorphism for weakly modular forms of level one. We do this by relating weakly modular forms with rational Fourier coefficients to the algebraic de Rham cohomology of the modular curve with twisted coefficients. This leads to formulae for the periods and quasi-periods of modular forms.
We define formal vector bundles with marked sections on Hilbert modular schemes and we show how to use them to construct modular sheaves with an integrable meromorphic connection and a filtration which, in degree 0, gives to us a $p$-adic interpolation of the usual Hodge filtration. We relate it with the sheaf of overconvergent Hilbert modular forms.
We show that the systems of prime-to-$p$ Hecke eigenvalues arising from automorphic forms$\pmod p$ for a good prime $p$ associated to an algebraic group $G/\mathbb Q$ of Hodge type are the same as those arising from algebraic modular forms$\pmod p$ associated to an inner form of $G$.
We consider the p-adic Galois representation associated to a Hilbert modular form. We show the compatibility with the local Langlands correspondence at a place divising p under a certain assumption. We also prove the monodromy-weight conjecture. The prime-to-p case is established by Carayol.
We construct a new cohomology theory for proper smooth (formal) schemes over the ring of integers of C_p. It takes values in a mixed-characteristic analogue of Dieudonne modules, which was previously defined by Fargues as a version of Breuil-Kisin modules. Notably, this cohomology theory specializes to all other known p-adic cohomology theories, such as crystalline, de Rham and etale cohomology, which allows us to prove strong integral comparison theorems. The construction of the cohomology theory relies on Faltings's almost purity theorem, along with a certain functor $Lη$ on the derived cate…
We generalize some of the results of Andreatta, Iovita, and Pilloni and the author to Hodge type Shimura varieties having non-empty ordinary locus. For any $p$-adic weight $κ$, we give a geometric definition of the space of overconvergent modular forms of weight $κ$ in terms of sections of a sheaf. We show that our sheaves live in analytic families, interpolating the classical sheaves for integral weights. We define an action of the Hecke algebra, including a completely continuous operator at $p$. In some simple cases, we also build the eigenvariety.
In his 1982 paper, Ogus defined a class of cycles in the de Rham cohomology of smooth proper varieties over number fields. This notion is a crystalline analogue of $\ell$-adic Tate cycles. In the case of abelian varieties, this class includes all the Hodge cycles by the work of Deligne, Ogus, and Blasius. Ogus predicted that such cycles coincide with Hodge cycles for abelian varieties. In this paper, we confirm Ogus' prediction for some families of abelian varieties. These families include abelian varieties that have both prime dimension and nontrivial endomorphism ring. The proof is based on …
In this paper we show that Atkin and Swinnerton-Dyer type of congruences hold for weakly modular forms (modular forms that are permitted to have poles at cusps). Unlike the case of original congruences for cusp forms, these congruences are nontrivial even for congruence subgroups. On the way we provide an explicit interpretation of the de Rham cohomology groups associated to modular forms in terms of "differentials of the second kind". As an example, we consider the space of cusp forms of weight 3 on a certain genus zero quotient of Fermat curve X^N+Y^N=Z^N. We show that the Galois representat…
We introduce the "sharp" (universal) extension of a 1-motive (with additive factors and torsion) over a field of characteristic zero. We define the "sharp de Rham realization" by passing to the Lie-algebra. Over the complex numbers we then show a (sharp de Rham) comparison theorem in the category of formal Hodge structures. For a free 1-motive along with its Cartier dual we get a canonical connection on their sharp extensions yielding a perfect pairing on sharp realizations. We thus provide "one-dimensional sharp de Rham cohomology" of algebraic varieties.
We study variations of Hodge structures over a Picard modular surface, and compute the weights and types of their degenerations through the cusps of the Baily-Borel compactification. The main tool is a theorem of Burgos and Wildeshaus.
We give proofs of de Rham comparison isomorphisms for rigid-analytic varieties, with coefficients and in families. This relies on the theory of perfectoid spaces. Another new ingredient is the pro-etale site, which makes all constructions completely functorial.
In this paper we introduce a certain space of higher order modular forms of weight 0 and show that it has a Hodge structure coming from the geometry of the fundamental group of a modular curve. This generalizes the usual structure on classical weight 2 forms coming from the cohomology of the modular curve. Further we construct some higher order Poincare series to get higher order higher weight forms and using them we define a space of higher weight, higher order forms which has a mixed Hodge structure as well.
Over a subfield of the field of complex numbers, the Hodge realization of a geometrical motive is defined and represented as the cohomology of a mixed Hodge DG-complex in the sense of Deligne. Both filtrations are represented by truncation functors, on a Bondarko weight complex for the weight filtration and on the De Rham motivic complex for the Hodge one. The Deligne-Beilinson realization is also constructed. This preprint partially replaces the former "Réalisation des complexes motiviques de Voevodsky".
We introduce the notion of dR-absolutely special subvarieties in motivic variations of Hodge structure as special subvarieties cut out by (de Rham-)absolute Hodge cycles and conjecture that all special subvarieties are dR-absolutely special. This is implied by Deligne's conjecture that all Hodge cycles are absolute Hodge cycles, but is a much weaker conjecture. We prove our conjecture for subvarieties satisfying a simple monodromy condition introduced by Klingler-Otwinowska-Urbanik. We study applications to typical respectively atypical intersections and $\bar{\mathbb{Q}}$-bialgebraic subvarie…
Milne's correcting factor, which appears in the Zeta-value at $s=n$ of a smooth projective variety $X$ over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, is the Euler characteristic of the derived de Rham cohomology of $X/\mathbb{Z}$ modulo the Hodge filtration $F^n$. In this note, we extend this result to arbitrary separated schemes of finite type over $\mathbb{F}_q$ of dimension at most $d$, provided resolution of singularities for schemes of dimension at most $d$ holds. More precisely, we show that Geisser's generalization of Milne's factor, whenever it is well defined, is the Euler characteristic of the …
We relate various approaches to coefficient systems in relative integral $p$-adic Hodge theory, working in the geometric context over the ring of integers of a perfectoid field. These include small generalised representations over $A_{\text{inf}}$ inspired by Faltings, modules with q-connection in the sense of q-de Rham cohomology, crystals on the prismatic site of Bhatt--Scholze, and q-deformations of Higgs bundles.
We examine the relationship between nonabelian Hodge theory for Riemann surfaces and the theory of vector valued modular forms. In particular, we explain how one might use this relationship to prove a conjectural three-term inequality on the weights of free bases of vector valued modular forms associated to complex, finite dimensional, irreducible representations of the modular group. This conjecture is known for irreducible unitary representations and for all irreducible representations of dimension at most 12. We prove new instances of the three-term inequality for certain nonunitary represe…
The space $D$ of Hodge structures on a fixed polarized lattice is known as Griffiths period domain and its quotient by the isometry group of the lattice is the moduli of polarized Hodge structures of a fixed type. When $D$ is a Hermition symmetric domain then we have automorphic forms on $D$, which according to Baily-Borel theorem, they give an algebraic structure to the mentioned moduli space. In this article we slightly modify this picture by considering the space $U$ of polarized lattices in a fixed complex vector space with a fixed Hodge filtration and polarization. It turns out that the i…
