In this paper we discuss general tridiagonal matrix models which are natural extensions of the ones given by Dumitriu and Edelman. We prove here the convergence of the distribution of the eigenvalues and compute the limiting distributions in some particular cases. We also discuss the limit of fluctuations, which, in a general context, turn out to be Gaussian. For the case of several random matrices, we prove the convergence of the joint moments and the convergence of the fluctuations to a Gaussian family.

We characterize the limiting fluctuations of traces of several independent Wigner matrices and deterministic matrices under mild conditions. A CLT holds but in general the families are not asymptotically free of second order and the limiting covariance depends on more information on the deterministic matrices than their limiting *-distribution.
We consider the asymptotics of the difference between the empirical measures of the $β$-Hermite tridiagonal matrix and its minor. We prove that this difference has a deterministic limit and Gaussian fluctuations. Through a correspondence between measures and continual Young diagrams, this deterministic limit is identified with the Vershik-Kerov-Logan-Shepp curve. Moreover, the Gaussian fluctuations are identified with a sectional derivative of the Gaussian free field.
In the classical $β$-ensembles of random matrix theory, setting $β= 2 α/N$ and taking the $N \to \infty$ limit gives a statistical state depending on $α$. Using the loop equations for the classical $β$-ensembles, we study the corresponding eigenvalue density, its moments, covariances of monomial linear statistics, and the moments of the leading $1/N$ correction to the density. From earlier literature the limiting eigenvalue density is known to be related to classical functions. Our study gives a unifying mechanism underlying this fact, identifying in particular the Gauss hypergeometric differe…
We study sampling algorithms for $β$-ensembles with time complexity less than cubic in the cardinality of the ensemble. Following Dumitriu & Edelman (2002), we see the ensemble as the eigenvalues of a random tridiagonal matrix, namely a random Jacobi matrix. First, we provide a unifying and elementary treatment of the tridiagonal models associated to the three classical Hermite, Laguerre and Jacobi ensembles. For this purpose, we use simple changes of variables between successive reparametrizations of the coefficients defining the tridiagonal matrix. Second, we derive an approximate sampler fo…
Beta Laguerre ensembles which are generalizations of Wishart ensembles and Laguerre ensembles can be realized as eigenvalues of certain random tridiagonal matrices. Analogous to the Wishart ($β=1$) case and the Laguerre ($β= 2$) case, for fixed $β$, it is known that the empirical distribution of the eigenvalues of these ensembles converges weakly to Marchenko--Pastur distributions, almost surely. The paper restudies the limiting behavior of the empirical distribution but in regimes where the parameter $β$ is allowed to vary as a function of the matrix size $N$. We show that the above Marchenko…
This work is devoted to deriving small mass limiting equation for a class of Hamiltonian systems with multiplicative Lévy noise. Derivation of the limiting equation depends on the structure of the stochastic Hamiltonian systems, in which a noise-induced drift term arises. We prove convergence to the limiting equation in probability under appropriate assumptions on smoothness and boundedness. Furthermore, we demonstrate convergence in moment under stronger assumptions. A Lévy type Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation result is presented as an illustrative example.

We study the small-time fluctuations for diffusion processes which are conditioned by their initial and final positions, under the assumptions that the diffusivity has a sub-Riemannian structure and that the drift vector field lies in the span of the sub-Riemannian structure. In the case where the endpoints agree and the generator of the diffusion process is non-elliptic at that point, the deterministic Malliavin covariance matrix is always degenerate. We identify, after a suitable rescaling, another limiting Malliavin covariance matrix which is non-degenerate, and we show that, with the same …
This article studies typical dynamics and fluctuations for a slow-fast dynamical system perturbed by a small fractional Brownian noise. Based on an ergodic theorem with explicit rates of convergence, which may be of independent interest, we characterize the asymptotic dynamics of the slow component to two orders (i.e., the typical dynamics and the fluctuations). The limiting distribution of the fluctuations turns out to depend upon the manner in which the small-noise parameter is taken to zero relative to the scale-separation parameter. We study also an extension of the original model in which…
We characterize the limiting second order distributions of certain independent complex Wigner and deterministic matrices using Voiculescu's notions of freeness over the diagonal. If the Wigner matrices are Gaussian, Mingo and Speicher's notion of second order freeness gives a universal rule, in terms of marginal first and second order distribution. We adapt and reformulate this notion for operator-valued random variables in a second order probability space. The Wigner matrices are assumed to be permutation invariant with null pseudo variance and the deterministic matrices to satisfy a restrict…
We consider a general preferential attachment model, where the probability that a newly arriving vertex connects to an older vertex is proportional to a sublinear function of the indegree of the older vertex at that time. It is well known that the distribution of a uniformly chosen vertex converges to a limiting distribution. Depending on the parameters, this model can show power law, but also stretched exponential behaviour. Using Stein's method we provide rates of convergence for the total variation distance. Our proof uses the fact that the limiting distribution is the stationary distributi…
We describe the fluctuations of the overlap between two replicas in the 2-spin spherical SK model about its limiting value in the low temperature phase. We show that the fluctuations are of order $N^{-1/3}$ and are given by a simple, explicit function of the eigenvalues of a matrix from the Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble. We show that this quantity converges and describe its limiting distribution in terms of the Airy1random point field (i.e., the joint limit of the extremal eigenvalues of the GOE) from random matrix theory.
In this paper, we consider isotropic and stationary real Gaussian random fields defined on $\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ and we investigate the asymptotic behavior, as $T\rightarrow +\infty$, of the empirical measure (excursion area) in $\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ at any threshold, covering both cases when the field exhibits short and long memory, i.e. integrable and non-integrable temporal covariance. It turns out that the limiting distribution is not universal, depending both on the memory parameters and the threshold. In particular, in the long memory case a form of Berry's cancellation…
We prove a fluctuating limit theorem of a sequence of super-Brownian motions over $\mbb{R}$ with a single point catalyst. The weak convergence of the processes on the space of Schwarz distributions is established. The limiting process is an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck type process solving a Langevin type equation driven by a one-dimensional Brownian motion.
We study the real eigenvalue statistics of products of independent real Ginibre random matrices. These are matrices all of whose entries are real i.i.d. standard Gaussian random variables. For such product ensembles, we demonstrate the asymptotic normality of suitably normalised linear statistics of the real eigenvalues and compute the limiting variance explicitly in both global and mesoscopic regimes. A key part of our proof establishes uniform decorrelation estimates for the related Pfaffian point process, thereby allowing us to exploit weak dependence of the real eigenvalues to give simple …
Let the term $k$-representation refer to the permutation representations of the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ on $k$-tuples and $k$-subsets as well as the $S^{(n-k,1^k)}$ irreducible representation of $\mathfrak{S}_n$. Endow $\mathfrak{S}_n$ with the Ewens distribution and let $α$ and $β$ be linearly independent irrational numbers over $\mathbb{Q}$. Then for fixed $k > 1$ we show that as $n \to \infty$, the normalized count of the number of eigenangles in a fixed interval $(α, β)$ of a $k$-representation evaluated at a random element $σ\in \mathfrak{S}_n$ converges weakly to a compactly sup…
A famous result going back to Eric Kostlan states that the moduli of the eigenvalues of random normal matrices with radial potential are independent yet non identically distributed. This phenomenon is at the heart of the asymptotic analysis of the edge, and leads in particular to the Gumbel fluctuation of the spectral radius when the potential is quadratic. In the present work, we show that a wide variety of laws of fluctuation are possible, beyond the already known cases, including for instance Gumbel and exponential laws at unusual speeds. We study the convergence in law of the spectral radi…
We investigate the asymptotic fluctuation of three interacting particle systems: the geometric q-TASEP, the geometric q-PushTASEP and the q-PushASEP. We prove that the rescaled particle position converges to the GUE Tracy-Widom distribution in the homogeneous case. If the jump rates of the first finitely many particles are perturbed in the first two models, we obtain that the limiting fluctuations are governed by the Baik-Ben Arous-Peche distribution and that of the top eigenvalue of finite GUE matrices.
We continue our analysis of Ising models on the (directed) Erdős-Rényi random graph. This graph is constructed on $N$ vertices and every edge has probability $p$ to be present. These models were introduced by Bovier and Gayrard [J. Stat. Phys., 1993] and analyzed by the authors in a previous note, in which we consider the case of $p=p(N)$ satisfying $p^3N^2\to +\infty$ and $β<1$. In the current note we prove a quenched Central Limit Theorem for the magnetization for $p$ satisfying $pN \to \infty$ in the high-temperature regime $β<1$. We also show a non-standard Central Limit Theorem for $p^4N^…
We consider a symmetric matrix-valued Gaussian process $Y^{(n)}=(Y^{(n)}(t);t\ge0)$ and its empirical spectral measure process $μ^{(n)}=(μ_{t}^{(n)};t\ge0)$. Under some mild conditions on the covariance function of $Y^{(n)}$, we find an explicit expression for the limit distribution of $$Z_F^{(n)} := \left( \big(Z_{f_1}^{(n)}(t),\ldots,Z_{f_r}^{(n)}(t)\big) ; t\ge0\right),$$ where $F=(f_1,\dots, f_r)$, for $r\ge 1$, with each component belonging to a large class of test functions, and $$ Z_{f}^{(n)}(t) := n\int_{\mathbb{R}}f(x)μ_{t}^{(n)}(\text{d} x)-n\mathbb{E}\left[\int_{\mathbb{R}}f(x)μ_{t}…
We study the limiting behavior of the $k$-th eigenvalue $x_k$ of unitary invariant ensembles with Freud-type and uniform convex potentials. As both $k$ and $n-k$ tend to infinity, we obtain Gaussian fluctuations for $x_k$ in the bulk and soft edge cases, respectively. Multi-dimensional central limit theorems, as well as moderate deviations, are also proved. This work generalizes earlier results in the GUE and unitary invariant ensembles with monomial potentials of even degree. In particular, we obtain the precise asymptotics of corresponding Christoffel-Darboux kernels as well.
We consider large-dimensional Hermitian or symmetric random matrices of the form $W=M+\vartheta V$ where $M$ is a Wigner matrix and $V$ is a real diagonal matrix whose entries are independent of $M$. For a large class of diagonal matrices $V$, we prove that the fluctuations of linear spectral statistics of $W$ for $C^{2}_{c}$ test function can be decomposed into that of $M$ and of $V$, and that each of those weakly converges to a Gaussian distribution. We also calculate the formulae for the means and variances of the limiting distributions.
Consider the parabolic Anderson model $\partial_tu=\frac{1}{2}\partial_x^2u+u\, η$ on the interval $[0, L]$ with Neumann, Dirichlet or periodic boundary conditions, driven by space-time white noise $η$. Using Malliavin-Stein method, we establish the central limit theorem for the fluctuation of the spatial integral $\int_0^Lu(t\,, x)\, \mathrm{d} x$ as $L$ tends to infinity, where the limiting Gaussian distribution is independent of the choice of the boundary conditions and coincides with the Gaussian fluctuation for the spatial average of parabolic Anderson model on the whole space $\mathbb{R}…
Motivated by the Rudnick-Sarnak theorem we study limiting distribution of smoothed local correlations of the form $$ \sum_{j_1, j_2, \ldots, j_n} f(N\*(θ_{j_2}-θ_{j_1}), N\*(θ_{j_3}-θ_{j_1}), \ldots, N\*(θ_{j_n}-θ_{j_1}))$$ for the Circular United Ensemble of random matrices for sufficiently smooth test functions.
We consider the discrete directed polymer model with i.i.d. environment and we study the fluctuations of the tail $n^{(d-2)/4}(W_\infty - W_n)$ of the normalized partition function. It was proven by Comets and Liu, that for sufficiently high temperature, the fluctuations converge in distribution towards the product of the limiting partition function and an independent Gaussian random variable. We extend the result to the whole $L^2$-region, which is predicted to be the maximal high-temperature region where the Gaussian fluctuations should occur under the considered scaling. To do so, we manage…
We show that matrix elements of functions of $N\times N$ Wigner matrices fluctuate on a scale of order $N^{-1/2}$ and we identify the limiting fluctuation. Our result holds for any function $f$ of the matrix that has bounded variation and thus considerably relaxes the regularity requirement imposed in [7,11].
