In this paper, we present a simple combinatorial proof of a Weyl type formula for hook Schur polynomials, which has been obtained by using a Kostant type cohomology formula for $\frak{gl}_{m|n}$. We study on Weyl modules of cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebras. In particular, we give the character formula of the Weyl modules by using the Kostka numbers and some numbers which are computed by a generalization of Littlewood-Richardson rule. We also study corresponding symmetric functions. Finally, we give some simple applications to modular representations of cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebras.

The classical case of Schur--Weyl duality states that the actions of the group algebras of $GL_n$ and $S_d$ on the $d^{th}$-tensor power of a free module of finite rank centralize each other. We show that Schur--Weyl duality holds for commutative rings where enough scalars can be chosen whose non-zero differences are invertible. We prove Turner's conjecture, which describes the blocks of the Hecke algebras of the symmetric groups up to derived equivalence as certain explicit Turner double algebras. Turner doubles are Schur-algebra-like `local' objects, which replace wreath products of Brauer tree algebras in the context of the Broué abelian defect group conjecture for blocks of symmetric groups with non-abelian defect groups. We find a new instance of semisimple Schur--Weyl duality for tensor powers of a natural $n$-dimensional reflection representation of $TW_n$, depending on a parameter $q$. We prove Schur--Weyl duality between the Brauer algebra $\mathfrak{B}_n(m)$ and the orthogonal group $O_{m}(K)$ over an arbitrary infinite field $K$ of odd characteristic. In this article we associate to a (weighted) matroid $M$ a quasi-hereditary algebra $R(M)$ defined over $k$ such that matroid duality corresponds to Ringel duality of quasi-hereditary algebras. The representation theory of these algebras is related to work of Schechtman-Varchenko and Brylawski-Varchenko. Relative dimensions of isotypic components of N-th order tensor representations of the symmetric group on n letters give a Plancherel-type measure on the space of Young diagrams with n cells and at most N rows. It was conjectured by G. Olshanski that dimensions of isotypic components of tensor representations of finite symmetric groups, after appropriate normalization, converge to a constant with respect to this family of Plancherel-type measures in the limit when N/sqrt{n} converges to a constant. This article introduces the duplex Hecke algebra, which is an infinite dimensional algebra generated by two Hecke algebras. This concept originates from the degenerate duplex Hecke algebra in the theory of Schur-Weyl duality related to enhanced reductive algebraic groups. We will study the finite dimensional natural representation of the duplex Hecke algebra on tensor space and prove that the duplex Hecke algebra forms a duality with the Levi type quantum group.
