Title: On linear extension for interpolating sequences. Author: Eric Amar
Abstract: Let A be a uniform algebra on the compact space X and $σ$ a probability measure on X. We define the Hardy spaces $H^{p}(σ)$ and the $H^{p}(σ)$ interpolating sequences S in the p-spectrum ${\mathcal{M}}_{p}$ of $σ$. We prove, under some structural hypotheses on $σ$ that "Carleson type" conditions on S imply that S is interpolating with a linear extension operator in $\displaystyle H^{s}(σ), s<p$ provided that either $p=\infty $ or $p\leq 2$.
This gives new results on interpolating sequences for Hardy spaces of the ball and the polydisc. In particular in the case of the unit ball of ${\mathbb{C}}^{n}$ we get that if there is a sequence $\{ρ_{a}\}_{a\in S}$ bounded in $H^{\infty}({\mathbb{B}})$ such that $\forall a,b\in S, ρ_{a}(b)=δ_{ab}$, then S is $H^{p}({\mathbb{B}})$-interpolating with a linear extension operator for any $1\leq p<\infty $.
We characterize interpolating sequences for pairs of reproducing kernels $(s, \ell)$, where $s$ is a complete Pick factor of $\ell.$ This answers a question of Aleman, Hartz, McCarthy and Richter.
We describe two new classes of onto interpolating sequences for the Dirichlet space, in particular resolving a question of Bishop. We also give a complete description of the analogous sequences for a discrete model of the Dirichlet space.
We give a full description of complete interpolating sequences for the shift-invariant space generated by the Gaussian. As a consequence, we rederive the known density conditions for sampling and interpolation.
In this work, we prove that if S is a dual bounded sequence in the unit ball B of C^n for the Hardy class H^p(B), then S is H^s(B) interpolating with the linear extension property.
This paper is a continuation of work done in \cite{BS}. It contains two new theorems about bounded holomorphic functions on the symmetrized bidisk -- a characterization of interpolating sequences and a Toeplitz corona theorem.
M. J. Beltrán-Meneua et al. \cite{beltran1} and E. Jordá and A. Rodríguez-Arenas \cite{jorda} characterized the (uniformly) mean ergodic composition operators on $H^\infty(\mathbb{D})$ and $H^\infty_ν(\mathbb{D})$, respectively. In this paper, by using the interpolating sequences, we give other necessary and sufficient conditions for the (uniformly) mean ergodicity of composition operators on these spaces.
We study interpolating sequences of $d$-tuples of matrices, by looking at the commuting and the non-commuting case separately. In both cases, we will give a characterization of such sequences in terms of separation conditions on suitable reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces, and we will give sufficient conditions stated in terms of separation via analytic functions. Examples of such interpolating sequences will also be given
Let $B_p(s)$ be an analytic Besov type space. Let $M(B_p(s))$ be the class of multipliers of $B_p(s)$ and let $F(p, p-2, s)$ be the Möbius invariant subspace generated by $B_p(s)$. In this paper, when $0<s<1$ and $\max\{s, 1-s\}<p\leq 1$, we give a completed description of interpolating sequences for $M(B_p(s))$ and $F(p, p-2, s)\cap H^\infty$. We also consider certain condition appeared in this description by an $L^p$ characterization and the closure of $F(p, p-2, s)$ in the Bloch space.
Let $0<p<\infty$, $β>-1$, and $Ω$ be a strongly pseudoconvex bounded domain with a smooth boundary in $\mathbb{C}^n$. We will study the interpolation problem for weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_β(Ω)$. In the case, $1\leq p<\infty$, and $β> \max \{n(2p-1)-1, n(2q-1)-1\}$, where $q$ is the conjugate exponent of $p$ (let $q=1$, for $p=1$), we show that a sequence in $\mathbb{B}_n$, the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^n$, is interpolating for $A^p_β(\mathbb{B}_n)$ if and only if it is separated.
When we deal with $H^{\infty}$, it is known that $c_0-$interpolating sequences are interpolating and it is sufficient to interpolate idempotents of $\ell_\infty$ in order to interpolate the whole $\ell_\infty$. We will extend these results to the frame of interpolating sequences for Bloch type spaces $\mathcal{B}_{v}^\infty$ and study the connection between the interpolating operators on $\mathcal{B}_{v}^\infty$ and $\mathcal{B}_v^0$. Furthermore, for some particular weights $v$, we will provide examples of interpolating sequences for $\mathcal{B}_{v}^\infty$ whose constant of separation is as…
We provide a description of the interpolating and sampling sequences on a space of holomorphic functions with a uniform growth restriction defined on finite Riemann surfaces.
In this work we study Hardy Sobolev spaces in the ball of $C^n$ with respect to interpolating sequences and Carleson measures. We compare them with the classical Hardy spaces of the ball and we stress analogies and differences.
We extend the parameterization of sine-type functions in terms of conformal mappings onto slit domains given by Eremenko and Sodin to the more general case of generating functions of real complete interpolating sequences. It turns out that the cuts have to fulfill the discrete Muckenhoupt condition studied earlier by Lyubarskii and Seip.
We extend Carleson's interpolation Theorem to sequences of matrices, by giving necessary and sufficient separation conditions for a sequence of matrices to be interpolating.
A sequence which is a finite union of interpolating sequences for $H^\infty$ have turned out to be especially important in the study of Bergman spaces. The Blaschke products $B(z)$ with such zero sequences have been shown to be exactly those such that the multiplication $f \mapsto fB$ defines an operator with closed range on the Bergman space. Similarly, they are exactly those Blaschke products that boundedly divide functions in the Bergman space which vanish on their zero sequence. There are several characterizations of these sequences, and here we add two more to those already known. We also…
We study almost sure separating and interpolating properties of random sequences in the polydisc and the unit ball. In the unit ball, we obtain the 0-1 Komolgorov law for a sequence to be interpolating almost surely for all the Besov-Sobolev spaces $B_{2}^σ\left(\mathbb{B}_{d}\right)$, in the range $0 < σ\leq1 / 2$. For those spaces, such interpolating sequences coincide with interpolating sequences for their multiplier algebras, thanks to the Pick property. This is not the case for the Hardy space $\mathrm{H}^2(\mathbb{D}^d)$ and its multiplier algebra $\mathrm{H}^\infty(\mathbb{D}^d)$: in th…
We give a characterization of complete interpolating sequences for the Fock spaces $\mathcal{F}^p_φ,\ 1\leq p<\infty$, where $φ(z)=α\left(\log^+|z|\right)^2,\ α>0$. Our results are {analogous} to the classical Kadets-Ingham's $1/4-$Theorem on perturbation of Riesz bases of complex exponentials, and they answer a question asked by A. Baranov, A. Dumont, A. Hartmann and K. Kellay in \cite[page 31]{baranov2015sampling}.
The author showed that a sequence in the unit disk is a zero sequence for the Bergman space $A^p$ if and only if a certain weighted space $L^p(W}$ contains a nontrivial analytic function. In this paper it is shown that the sequence is an interpolating sequence for $A^p$ if and only if it is separated in the hyperbolic metric and the $\bar\partial$-equation $(1 - |z|^2)\bar\partial u = f$ has a solution $u$ belonging to $L^p(W)$ for every $f$ in $L^p(W)$.
Schwarz's Lemma leads to a natural interpolation problem for analytic functions from the disc into itself. The corresponding interpolating sequences are geometrically described in terms of a certain hyperbolic density.
We give an analytic characterisation of the interpolating sequences for the Nevanlinna and Smirnov classes. From this we deduce a necessary and a sufficient geometric condition, both expressed in terms of a certain non-tangential maximal function associated to the sequence. Some examples show that the gap between the necessary and the sufficient condition cannot be covered. We also discuss the relationship between our results and the previous work of Naftalevic for the Nevanlinna class, and Yanagihara for the Smirnov class. Finally, we observe that the arguments used in the previous proofs sho…
Let $I$ be an inner function in the unit disk $\mathbb D$ and let $\mathcal N$ denote the Nevanlinna class. We prove that under natural assumptions, Bezout equations in the quotient algebra $\mathcal N/I\mathcal N$ can be solved if and only if the zeros of $I$ form a finite union of Nevanlinna interpolating sequences. This is in contrast with the situation in the algebra of bounded analytic functions, where being a finite union of interpolating sequences is a sufficient but not necessary condition. An analogous result in the Smirnov class is proved as well as several equivalent descriptions of…
Let $B_α^{p}$ be the space of $f$ holomorphic in the unit ball of $\Bbb C^n$ such that $(1-|z|^2)^αf(z) \in L^p$, where $0<p\leq\infty$, $α\geq -1/p$ (weighted Bergman space). In this paper we study the interpolating sequences for various $B_α^{p}$. The limiting cases $α=-1/p$ and $p=\infty$ are respectively the Hardy spaces $H^p$ and $A^{-α}$, the holomorphic functions with polynomial growth of order $α$, which have generated particular interest. In §1 we first collect some definitions and well-known facts about weighted Bergman spaces and then introduce the natural interpolation problem, alo…
We study simply interpolating sequences for the Dirichlet space in the unit disc. In particular we are interested in comparing three different sufficient conditions for simply interpolating sequences. The first one is the the so called one box condition, the second is the column bounded propererty for the associated Grammian matrix and the third one is a restricted version of the one box condition introduced by Bishop and, independently, by Marshall and Sundberg. We prove that the one box condition implies the column bounded property which in turn implies the restricted on box condition of Bis…
We characterise interpolating and sampling sequences for the spaces of entire functions f such that f e^{-phi} belongs to L^p(C), p>=1 (and some related weighted classes), where phi is a subharmonic weight whose Laplacian is a doubling measure. The results are expressed in terms of some densities adapted to the metric induced by the Laplacian of phi. They generalise previous results by Seip for the case phi(z)=|z|^2, and by Berndtsson & Ortega-Cerdà and Ortega-Cerdà & Seip for the case when the Laplacian of phi is bounded above and below.
We discuss random interpolation in weighted Dirichlet spaces $\mathcal{D}_α$, $0\leq α\leq 1$. While conditions for deterministic interpolation in these spaces depend on capacities which are very hard to estimate in general, we show that random interpolation is driven by surprisingly simple distribution conditions. As a consequence, we obtain a breakpoint at $α=1/2$ in the behavior of these random interpolating sequences showing more precisely that almost sure interpolating sequences for $\mathcal{D}_α$ are exactly the almost sure separated sequences when $0\le α<1/2$ (which includes the Hardy…
The classical theorems of Mittag-Leffler and Weierstrass show that when $\{λ_n\}$ is a sequence of distinct points in the open unit disk $\D$, with no accumulation points in $\D$, and $\{w_n\}$ is any sequence of complex numbers, there is an analytic function $ϕ$ on $\D$ for which $ϕ(λ_n) = w_n$. A celebrated theorem of Carleson \cite{MR117349} characterizes when, for a bounded sequence $\{w_n\}$, this interpolating problem can be solved with a bounded analytic function. A theorem of Earl \cite{MR284588} goes further and shows that when Carleson's condition is satisfied, the interpolating func…
We study similarity classes of commuting row contractions annihilated by what we call higher order vanishing ideals of interpolating sequences. Our main result exhibits a Jordan-type direct sum decomposition for these row contractions. We illustrate how the family of ideals to which our theorem applies is very rich, especially in several variables. We also give two applications of the main result. First, we obtain a purely operator theoretic characterization of interpolating sequences. Second, we classify certain classes of cyclic commuting row contractions up to quasi-similarity in terms of t…
This work explores several aspects of interpolating sequences for $\ell^p_A$, the space of analytic functions on the unit disk with $p$-summable Maclaurin coefficients. Much of this work is communicated through a Carlesonian lens. We investigate various analogues of Gramian matrices, for which we show boundedness conditions are necessary and sufficient for interpolation, including a characterization of universal interpolating sequences in terms of Riesz systems. We also discuss weak separation, giving a characterization of such sequences using a generalization of the pseudohyperbolic metric. L…
Given an interpolating Blaschke product $B$ with zeros $\{a_j\}$, we seek to characterize the sequences of values $\{w_j\}$ for which the interpolation problem $$f(a_j)=w_j\qquad (j=1,2,\dots)$$ can be solved with a function $f$ from the model subspace $H^1\cap B\overline{H^1_0}$ of the Hardy space $H^1$.
Free interpolation in Hardy spaces is caracterized by the well-known Carleson condition. The result extends to Hardy-Orlicz spaces contained in the scale of classical Hardy spaces $H^p$, $p>0$. For the Smirnov and the Nevanlinna classes, interpolating sequences have been characterized in a recent paper in terms of the existence of harmonic majorants (quasi-bounded in the case of the Smirnov class). Since the Smirnov class can be regarded as the union over all Hardy-Orlicz spaces associated with a so-called strongly convex function, it is natural to ask how the condition changes from the Carles…
In this paper we revisit some facts about thin interpolating sequences in the unit disc from three perspectives: uniform algebras, model spaces, and $H^p$ spaces. We extend the notion of asymptotic interpolation to $H^p$ spaces, for $1 \leq p \leq \infty$, providing several new ways to think about these sequences.
We denote by $\Hp$ the Hilbert space of ordinary Dirichlet series with square-summable coefficients. The main result is that a bounded sequence of points in the half-plane $σ>1/2$ is an interpolating sequence for $\Hp$ if and only if it is an interpolating sequence for the Hardy space $H^2$ of the same half-plane. Similar local results are obtained for Hilbert spaces of ordinary Dirichlet series that relate to Bergman and Dirichlet spaces of the half-plane $σ>1/2$.
We generalize a well-known sufficient condition for interpolating sequences for the Hilbert Bergman spaces to other Bergman spaces with normal weights (as defined by Shields and Williams) and obtain new results regarding the membership of the derivative of a Blashke product or a general inner function in such spaces. We also apply duality techniques to obtain further results of this type and obtain new results about interpolating Blaschke products.
Given a sequence of points in the unit disk, a well known result due to Carleson states that if given any point of the sequence it is possible to interpolate the value one in that point and zero in all the other points of the sequence, with uniform control of the norm in the Hardy space of bounded analytic functions on the disk, then the sequence is an interpolating sequence (i.e.\ every bounded sequence of values can be interpolated by functions in the Hardy space). It turns out that such a result holds in other spaces. In this short note we would like to show that for a given sequence it is …
The interpolating sequences for $H^{\infty}({\mathbb{D}}),$ the bounded holomorphic function in the unit disc ${\mathbb{D}}$ of the complex plane ${\mathbb{C}},$ {\small where characterised by L. Carleson by metric conditions on the points. They are also characterised by "dual boundedness" conditions which imply an infinity of functions. A. Hartmann proved recently that just one function in $H^{\infty}({\mathbb{D}})$ was enough to characterize interpolating sequences for $H^{\infty}({\mathbb{D}}).$ In this work we use the "hard" part of the proof of Carleson for the Corona theorem, to extend H…
It is known (implicit in [HMNT]) that when $Λ$ is an interpolating sequence for the Nevanlinna or the Smirnov class then there exist functions $f_λ$ in these spaces, with uniform control of their growth and attaining values 1 on $λ$ and 0 in all other $λ'\neqλ$. We provide an example showing that, contrary to what happens in other algebras of holomorphic functions, the existence of such functions does not imply that $Λ$ is an interpolating sequence.
We give a complete description of Riesz bases of reproducing kernels in small Fock spaces. This characterization is in the spirit of the well known Kadets--Ingham 1/4 theorem for Paley--Wiener spaces. Contrarily to the situation in Paley--Wiener spaces, a link can be established between Riesz bases in the Hilbert case and corresponding complete interpolating sequences in small Fock spaces with associated uniform norm. These results allow to show that if a sequence has a density stricly different from the critical one then either it can be completed or reduced to a complete interpolating sequen…
We show that a discrete sequence $Λ$ of the unit disk is the union of $n$ interpolating sequences for the Nevanlinna class $N$ if and only if the trace of $N$ on $Λ$ coincides with the space of functions on $Λ$ for which the divided differences of order $n - 1$ are uniformly controlled by a positive harmonic function.
We study thin interpolating sequences $\{λ_n\}$ and their relationship to interpolation in the Hardy space $H^2$ and the model spaces $K_Θ= H^2 \ominus ΘH^2$, where $Θ$ is an inner function. Our results, phrased in terms of the functions that do the interpolation as well as Carleson measures, show that under the assumption that $Θ(λ_n) \to 0$ the interpolation properties in $H^2$ are essentially the same as those in $K_Θ$.
We find sufficient conditions for a discrete sequence to be interpolating or sampling for certain generalized Bergman spaces on open Riemann surfaces. As in previous work of Bendtsson, Ortega-Cerda, Seip, Wallsten and others, our conditions for interpolation and sampling are as follows: If a certain upper density of the sequence has value less that 1, then the sequence is interpolating, while if a certain lower density has value greater than 1, then the sequence is sampling. However, unlike previous work, we construct an infinite number of densities, naturally parameterized by $L^1_{loc} ([0,\…
There are three new things in this paper about the open symmetrized bidisk $\mathbb G = \{(z_1+z_2, z_1z_2) : |z_1|, |z_2| < 1\}$. They are motivated in the Introduction. In this Abstract, we mention them in the order in which they will be proved. \begin{enumerate} \item The Realization Theorem: A realization formula is demonstrated for every $f$ in the norm unit ball of $H^\infty(\mathbb G)$. \item The Interpolation Theorem: Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation theorem is proved for data from the symmetrized bidisk and a specific formula is obtained for the interpolating function. \item The Extensio…
For $α>-1$ and $0<p<\infty$, we study weighted Bergman spaces $\mathcal B^p_α$ of harmonic functions on the real hyperbolic ball and obtain an atomic decomposition of these spaces in terms of reproducing kernels. We show that an $r$-separated sequence $\{a_m\}$ with sufficiently large $r$ is an interpolating sequence for $\mathcal B^p_α$. Using these we determine precisely when a Bergman space $\mathcal B^p_α$ is included in another Bergman space $\mathcal B^q_β$.
In this paper we consider interpolation in model spaces, $H^2 \ominus B H^2$ with $B$ a Blaschke product. We study unions of interpolating sequences for two sequences that are far from each other in the pseudohyperbolic metric as well as two sequences that are close to each other in the pseudohyperbolic metric. The paper concludes with a discussion of the behavior of Frostman sequences under perturbations.
We extend our work on nonseparated interpolating sequences, originally developed for Bergman spaces with weights of the form $(1 - |z|^2)^α$, to more general weights.
We present two fast constructions of weak*-copies of $\ell ^\infty$ in $H^{\infty}$ and show that such copies are necessarily weak*-complemented. Moreover, via a Paley-Wiener type of stability theorem for bases, a connection can be made in some cases between the two types of construction, via interpolating sequences (in fact these are at the basis of the second construction). Our approach has natural generalizations where H $\infty$ is replaced by an arbitrary dual space and $\ell ^{\infty }$ by $\ell^{p}$ (1 $\le$ p $\le$ $\infty$) relying on the notions of generalized interpolating sequence …
We show that a discrete sequence $Λ$ of the complex plane is the union of $n$ interpolating sequences for the Hörmander algebras $A_p$ if and only if the trace of $A_p$ on $Λ$ coincides with the space of functions on $Λ$ for which the divided differences of order $n-1$ are uniformly bounded. The analogous result holds in the unit disk for Korenblum-type algebras.
Introduced by Coifman, Meyer, and Stein, the tent spaces have seen wide applications in Harmonic Analysis. Their analytic cousins have seen some applications involving the derivatives of Hardy space functions. Moreover, the tent spaces have been a recent focus of research. We introduce the concept of interpolating and sampling sequences for analytic tent spaces analogously to the same concepts for Bergman spaces. We then characterize such sequences in terms of Seip's upper and lower uniform density. We accomplish this by exploiting a kind of Möbius invariance for the tent spaces.
We show that any weakly separated Bessel system of model spaces in the Hardy space on the unit disc is a Riesz system and we highlight some applications to interpolating sequences of matrices. This will be done without using the recent solution of the Feichtinger conjecture, whose natural generalization to multi-dimensional model sub-spaces of $\mathrm{H}^2$ turns out to be false.
Carleson measures and interpolating and sampling sequences for weighted Bergman spaces on the unit disk are described for weights that are radial and grow faster than the standard weights $(1-|z|)^{-α}$, $0<α<1$. These results make the Hardy space $H^2$ appear naturally as a "degenerate" endpoint case for the class of Bergman spaces under study.
Most characterizations of interpolating sequences for Bergman spaces include the condition that the sequence be uniformly discrete in the hyperbolic metric. We show that if the notion of interpolation is suitably generalized, two of these characterizations remain valid without that condition. The general interpolation we consider here includes the usual simple interpolation and multiple interpolation as special cases.
