In this note we consider inequalities involving the error function $ϕ$. Our methodes give new proofs of some known inequalities of Komatsu, and of Szarek and Werner, and also produce two families of inequalities that give upper and lower bounds for $ϕ$. Moreover the continued fractions expansion of $ϕ$ is obtained.
In this paper, first we have established Hermite- Hadamard's inequalities for preinvex functions via fractional integrals. Second we extend some estimates of the right side of a Hermite- Hadamard type inequality for preinvex functions via fractional integrals.
In this paper we prove some exponential inequalities involving the sinc function. We analyze and prove inequalities with constant exponents as well as inequalities with certain polynomial exponents. Also, we establish intervals in which these inequalities hold.
We have made some new definitions using the inequalities of Young' and Nesbitt'. And we have given some features of these new definitions. After, we established new Hadamard type inequalities for convex functions in the Young and Nesbitt sense.
In this paper we present a new approach to proving some exponential inequalities involving the sinc function. Power series expansions are used to generate new polynomial inequalities that are sufficient to prove the given exponential inequalities.
In this paper, an analogous of Heisenberg inequality is established for Laguerre-Bessel transform. Also, a local uncertainty principle for this transform is investigate
In this paper, we derive Taylor's theorem for beta-fractional derivative. We also investigate some new properties of Taylor's theorem and some useful related theorems for this derivative. We extend some recent and classical integral inequalities to this new simple interesting fractional calculus including Steffensen and Hermit-Hadamard inequality.
In this paper we give some sharper refinements and generalizations of inequalities related to Shafer's inequality for the arctangent function, stated in Theorems 1, 2 and 4 in [1], by C. Mortici and H.M. Srivastava.
We study a variant of the majorization relation. In particular we consider inequalities involving some Schur-concave symmetric polynomials related to the multinomial expansion. We also discuss how these topics were motivated by conjectures on sharp Lp inequalities between complex exponential sums conjectured by Hardy and Littlewood (still open problems), and why the usual majorization relation does not hold in that context.
Some new counterparts of Bessel's inequality for orthornormal families in real or complex inner product spaces are pointed out. Applications for some Gruss type inequalities are also empahsized.
Inequalities are established for certain trilinear scalar-valued functionals. These functionals act on measurable functions of one real variable, are defined by integration over two- or three-dimensional spaces, and are controlled in terms of Lebesgue space norms of the functions, and of negative powers of large parameters describing a degree of oscillation. Related sublevel set inequalities are a central element of the analysis. The main results and the main lines of their proofs are largely unchanged in this draft, but some details have been corrected. The analysis has already been extended …
In this paper, we establish jump and variational inequalities for the Calderón commutators, which are typical examples of non-convolution Calderón-Zygmund operators. For this purpose, we also show jump and variational inequalities for para-products and commutators from pseudo-differential calculus, which are of independent interest. New ingredients in the proofs involve identifying Carleson measures constructed from sequences of stopping times, in addition to many Littlewood-Paley type estimates with gradient.
We prove the following double inequality related with Burnside's formula for $n!$ \begin{equation*} \sqrt{2π}\left(\frac{n+a_*}{e}\right)^{n+a_*}<n!<\sqrt{2π}\left(\frac{n+a^*}{e}\right)^{n+a^*}\,(n\in\mathbb{N}), \end{equation*} where the constants $a_*=0.428844044...$ and $a^*=0.5$ are the best possible. We believe that the method we used in the proof gives insight to undergraduate students to understand how simple inequalities can be established.
An interplay between the sum of certain series related to Harmonic numbers and certain finite trigonometric sums is investigated. This allows us to express the sum of these series in terms of the considered trigonometric sums, and permits us to find sharp inequalities bounding these trigonometric sums. In particular, this answers positively an open problem of H. Chen (2010).
In the paper, the author derives several "diagonal" recurrence relations, constructs some inequalities, finds monotonicity, and poses a conjecture related to Stirling numbers of the second kind.
We present new proofs of two theorems of E.B. Davies and B. Simon about ultracontractivity property for of semigroups of operators and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities with parameter (LSIWP for short) satisfied by the generator of the semigroup. In our proof, we use neither the $L^p$ version of the $LSIWP$ nor Stein's interpolation. Our tool is Nash type inequality. We also present new results. In particular, we show that Nash type inequality and LSIWP are equivalent.
The estimate in Bullen's inequality will be extended for continuous functions using the second order modulus of smoothness. A different form of this inequality will be given in terms of the least concave majorant. Also, the composite case of Bullen's inequality is considered.
By making use of the familiar Mathieu series and its generalizations, the authors derive a number of new integral representations and present a systematic study of probability density functions and probability distributions associated with some generalizations of the Mathieu series. In particular, the mathematical expectation, variance and the characteristic functions, related to the probability density functions of the considered probability distributions are derived. As a consequence, some interesting inequalities involving complete monotonicity and log-convexity are derived.
In this paper we derive a new strong convergence theorem of Riesz logarithmic means of the one-dimensional Vilenkin-Fourier (Walsh-Fourier) series. The corresponding inequality is pointed out and it is also proved that the inequality is in a sense sharp, at least for the case with Walsh-Fourier series.
In this paper, we extend the Hermite-Hadamard type $\dot{I}$scan inequality to the class of symmetrized harmonic convex functions. The corresponding version for harmonic h-convex functions is also investigated. Furthermore, we establish Hermite-Hadamard type inequalites for the product of a harmonic convex function with a symmetrized harmonic convex function.
Introducing the discrete probability distribution by means of the Prabhakar (or the three--parameter Mittag--Leffler) function, we establish explicit expressions for raw and factorial moments and also general fractional order moments. Applying an elementary moment inequality we obtain functional upper bounds for the Turánian difference for Prabhakar function. Finally, a Laguerre inequality is proved and functional upper bound has been given for Laguerreian difference for Prabhakar function.
The main purpose of this paper is to prove a sharp Sobolev inequality in an exterior of a convex bounded domain. There are two ingredients in the proof: One is the observation of some new isoperimetric inequalities with partial free boundary, and the other is an integral inequality (due to Duff [9]) for any nonnegative function under Schwarz equimeasurable rearrangement. These ingredients also allow us to establish some Moser-Trudinger type inequalities, and obtain some estimates on the principal frequency of a membrane with partial free boundary, which extend early results of Nehari [15] and …
In this expository and survey paper, along one of main lines of bounding the ratio of two gamma functions, we look back and analyse some inequalities, several complete monotonicity of functions involving ratios of two gamma or $q$-gamma functions, and necessary and sufficient conditions for functions involving ratios of two gamma or $q$-gamma functions to be logarithmically completely monotonic.
We consider the sum of squared logarithms inequality and investigate possible connections with the theory of majorization. We also discuss alternative sufficient conditions on two sets of vectors $a,b\in\mathbb{R}_+^n$ so that $\sum_{i=1}^n(\log a_i)^2\ \leq\ \sum_{i=1}^n(\log b_i)^2\,.\notag $ Generalizations of some inequalities from information theory are obtained, including a generalized information inequality and a generalized log sum inequality, which states for $a,b\in\mathbb{R}_+^n$ and $k_1,...,k_n\in [0,\infty)$: $ \sum_{i=1}^na_i\,\log\prod_{s=1}^m(\frac{a_i}{b_i} + k_s)\ \geq\ \log…
In this paper, the Authors establish a new identity for differentiable functions. By the well-known Hölder and power mean inequality, they obtain some integral inequalities related to the convex functions and apply these inequalities to special means.
In this note we investigate the multi-parameter Potential Theory on the weighted $d$-tree (Cartesian product of several copies of uniform dyadic tree), which is connected to the discrete models of weighted Dirichlet spaces on the polydisc. We establish some basic properties of the respective potentials, capacities and equilibrium measures (in particular in the case of product polynomial weights). We explore multi-parameter Hardy inequality and its trace measures, and discuss some open problems of potential-theoretic and combinatorial nature.
We prove dispersive and Strichartz inequalities for the solution of the wave equation related to the full Laplacian on the Heisenberg group, by means of Besov spaces defined by a Littlewood--Paley decomposition related to the spectral resolution of the full Laplacian. This requires a careful analysis due also to the non-homogeneous nature of the full Laplacian. This result has to be compared to a previous one by Bahouri, Gérard and Xu concerning the solution of the wave equation related to the Kohn-Laplacian.
We provide a general framework for fractional Hardy inequalities. Our framework covers, for instance, fractional inequalities related to the Dirichlet forms of some Lévy processes, and weighted fractional inequalities on irregular open sets.
In this paper, some new integral inequalities of Hermite-Hadamard type related to the s-geometrically convex functions are established and some applications to special means of positive real numbers are also given.
In this note, we derive non trivial sharp bounds related to the weighted harmonic-geometric-arithmetic means inequalities, when two out of the three terms are known. As application, we give an explicit bound for the trace of the inverse of a symmetric positive definite matrix and an inequality related to the coefficients of polynomials with positive roots.
In this paper, The author introduces the concepts of the GA-s-convex functions in the first sense and second sense and establishes some integral inequalities of Hermite-Hadamard type related to the GA-s-convex functions.
In this paper some Hadamard-type inequalities for convex functions of 3-variables on a rectanguler box are given. We also define a mapping related to convex functions on a rectanguler box.
In this paper, we obtain some new integral inequalities like Hermite-Hadamard type for third derivatives absolute value are log-convex. We give some applications to quadrature formula for midpoint error estimate.
In this paper, we establish (presumably new type) integral inequalities for convex functions via the Hermite--Hadamard's inequalities. As applications, we apply these new inequalities to construct inequalities involving special means of real numbers, some error estimates for the formula midpoint are given. Finally, new inequalities for some special and $q-$special functions are also pointed out.
In this paper, some new integral inequalities of Hermite-Hadamard type related to the s-geometrically convex functions are established and some applications to special means of positive real numbers are also given.
The aim of this paper is to discuss new results concerning some kinds of parametric extended entropies and divergences. As a result of our studies for mathematical properties on entropy and divergence, we give new bounds for the Tsallis quasilinear entropy and divergence by applying the Hermite-Hadamard inequality. We also give bounds for biparametrical extended entropies and divergences which have been given in \cite{7}. In addition, we study $(r,q)$-quasilinear entropies and divergences as alternative biparametrical extended entropy and divergence, and then we give bounds for them. Finally w…
Given $α>0$, we establish the following two supercritical Moser-Trudinger inequalities \[ \sup\limits_{u \in W^{1,n}_{0,{\rm rad}}(B): \int_B |\nabla u|^n dx \leq 1} \int_B \exp\big( (α_n + |x|^α) |u|^{\frac{n}{n-1}} \big) dx < +\infty \] and \[ \sup\limits_{u\in W^{1,n}_{0,{\rm rad}}(B): \int_B |\nabla u|^n dx \leq 1} \int_B \exp\big( α_n |u|^{\frac{n}{n-1} + |x|^α} \big) dx < +\infty, \] where $W^{1,n}_{0,{\rm rad}}(B)$ is the usual Sobolev spaces of radially symmetric functions on $B$ in $\mathbb R^n$ with $n\geq 2$. Without restricting to the class of functions $W^{1,n}_{0,{\rm rad}}(B)$, …
We review recent results on functional inequalities for systems of orthonormal functions. The key finding is that for various operators the orthonormality leads to a gain over a simple application of the triangle inequality. The operators under consideration are either related to Sobolev type inequalities or to Fourier restriction type inequalities.
