In this work, we prove that weak compactness of composition operator on $H^{1}(U^{n})$ coincides with its compactness. We also characterize bounded and compact composition operators on $H^{1}(U^{n}).$\
The classical completeness problem raised by Beurling and independently by Wintner asks for which $ψ\in L^2(0,1)$, the dilation system $\{ψ(kx):k=1,2,\cdots\}$ is complete in $L^2(0,1)$, where $ψ$ is identified with its extension to an odd $2$-periodic function on $\mathbb{R}$. This difficult problem is nowadays commonly called as the Periodic Dilation Completeness Problem (PDCP). By Beurling's idea and an application of the Bohr transform, the PDCP is translated as an equivalent problem of characterizing cyclic vectors in the Hardy space $\mathbf{H}_\infty^2$ over the infinite-dimensional pol…
This paper introduces the classically successful theory of Toeplitz operators on the Hardy space over the unit disk to a new domain in $\mathbb C^d$ -- the symmetrized polydisk.
Let p,q>0. We extend to the n-polydisk previous one-variable characterization results of K. Madigan on the $p$-Lipschitz space and K. Madigan/A. Matheson on the Bloch space by obtaining function-theoretic conditions on a holomorphic self-map of the polydisk such that the induced composition operator is bounded or compact between p- and q-Bloch spaces of the polydisk. These conditions turn out to be different in the cases when p is in (0,1) and when p is at least 1. We also obtain corresponding characterization results for composition operators between generalized little p- and q-Bloch spaces o…
In this paper, we study weighted composition operators on Bergman spaces of analytic functions which are square integrable on polydisk. We develop the study in full generality, meaning that the corresponding weighted composition operators are not assumed to be bounded. The properties of weighted composition operators such as real symmetry, unitariness, complex symmetry, are characterized fully in simple algebraic terms, involving their symbols. As it turns out, a weighted composition operator having a symmetric structure must be bounded. We also obtain the interesting consequence that real sym…
Let $ϕ(z)=(ϕ_1(z), ...,ϕ_n(z))$ be a holomorphic self-map of $U^n$ and $ψ(z)$ a holomorphic function on $U^n,$ where $U^n$ is the unit polydisk of ${\Bbb C}^n.$ Let $p\geq 0,$ $q\geq 0$, this paper gives some necessary and sufficient conditions for the weighted composition operator $W_{ψ,ϕ}$ induced by $ψ$ and $ϕ$ to be bounded and compact between $p$-Bloch space ${\cal B}^p(U^n)$ and $q$-Bloch space ${\cal B}^q(U^n).$
Given a sequence of automorphisms of the polydisk, we show that the associated composition semigroup homomorphisms on the ball of bounded holomorphic functions on the polydisk admit a universal inner function if a certain condition on the automorphisms are satisfied.
In this paper, we introduce a discrete analogue of weighted Hardy spaces on rooted trees and study weighted composition operators between them in detail. In particular, we characterize bounded and compact weighted composition operators between discrete Hardy spaces. We also consider isometric weighted composition operators between these spaces.
In this paper, we completely characterize the order boundedness of weighted composition operators between different weighted Dirichlet spaces and different derivative Hardy spaces.
We identify the semigroups consisting of bounded composition operators on the Hardy spaces $H^p(\U)$ of the upper half-plane. We show that any such semigroup is strongly continuous on $H^p(\U)$ but not uniformly continuous and we identify the infinitesimal generator.
In this paper, the boundedness and compactness of the difference of composition-differentiation operators $D_φ-D_ψ$ acting from Hardy spaces $H^p$ to weighted Bergman spaces $A^q_α$ are completely characterize for all $0<p,q<\infty$.
We show that the already known results for a composition operator to have closed range on H2 (Cima, Thomson, and Wogen (1974), Zorboska (1994)) can be extended to Hp for p>0 .
In this paper, we give some estimates for the essential norm and a new characterization for the boundedness and compactness of weighted composition operators from weighted Bergman spaces and Hardy spaces to the Bloch space.
We study the boundary behavior of functions in the Hardy spaces on the infinite dimensional polydisk. These spaces are intimately related to the Hardy spaces of Dirichlet series. We exhibit several Fatou and Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type theorems for radial convergence. As a consequence one obtains easy new proofs of the brothers F. and M. Riesz theorems in infinite dimension. Finally, we provide counterexamples showing that the pointwise Fatou theorem is not true in infinite dimensions without restrictions to the mode of radial convergence even for bounded analytic functions.
We prove that a composition operator is bounded on the Hardy space $H^2$ of the right half-plane if and only if the inducing map fixes the point at infinity non-tangentially, and has a finite angular derivative $λ$ there. In this case the norm, essential norm, and spectral radius of the operator are all equal to $\sqrtλ$.
We define Hardy spaces $\mathcal{H}^p$ for quasiregular mappings in the plane, and show that for a particular class of these mappings many of the classical properties that hold in the classical setting of analytic mappings still hold. This particular class of quasiregular mappings can be characterised in terms of composition operators when the symbol is quasiconformal. Relations between Carleson measures and Hardy spaces play an important role in the discussion. This program was initiated and developed for Hardy spaces of quasiconformal mappings by Astala and Koskela in 2011 in their paper $\m…
In this paper, we investigate the complex symmetric structure of generalized weighted composition operators $D_{m,ψ,φ}$ on the weighted Hardy space $H^2(β)$. We obtain explicit conditions for $ D_{m,ψ,φ}$ to be complex symmetric with the conjugation $J_w$. Under the assumption that $ D_{m,ψ,φ}$ is $J_w$-symmetric, some sufficient and necessary conditions for $D_{m,ψ,φ}$ to be Hermitian and normal are given.
We prove that the weighted composition operator $W_{ϕ,φ}$ fixes an isomorphic copy of $\ell^p$ if the operator $W_{ϕ,φ}$ is not compact on the derivative Hardy space $S^p$. In particular, this implies that the strict singularity of the operator $W_{ϕ,φ}$ coincides with the compactness of it on $S^p$. Moreover, when $p\neq2$, we characterize the conditions for those weighted composition operators $W_{ϕ,φ}$ on $S^p$ which fix an isomorphic copy of $\ell^2$ .
We show that there exist non-compact composition operators in the connected component of the compact ones on the classical Hardy space $H^2$ on the unit disc. This answers a question posed by Shapiro and Sundberg in 1990. We also establish an improved version of a theorem of MacCluer, giving a lower bound for the essential norm of a difference of composition operators in terms of the angular derivatives of their symbols. As a main tool we use Aleksandrov-Clark measures.
Suppose $n\geq 3$ and let $B$ be the open unit ball in $\mathbb{R}^n$. Let $φ: B\to B$ be a $C^2$ map whose Jacobian does not change sign, and let $ψ$ be a $C^2$ function on $B$. We characterize bounded weighted composition operators $W_{φ,ψ}$ acting on harmonic Hardy spaces $h^p(B)$. In addition, we compute the operator norm of $W_{φ,ψ}$ on $h^p(B)$ when $φ$ is a Möbius transformation of $B$.
We consider the invariant subspace of composition operators on Hardy space $H^p$ where the composition operators corresponding to a function $φ$ that is a holomorphic self-map of $\mathbb D$. Firstly, we discuss composition operators $C_φ$ on subspace $H_{α,β}^p$ of Hardy space $H^p$. We will explore the invariant subspaces for $C_φ$ in various special cases. Secondly, we consider Beurling type invariant subspace for $C_φ$. When $θ$ is a inner function, we prove that $θH^p$ is invariant for $C_φ$ if and only if $\displaystyle{\frac{θ\circφ}θ}$ belongs to $\mathcal S(\mathbb D)$. Thirdly, we ob…
In this paper, we investigate the spectra of invertible weighted composition operators with automorphism symbols, on Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{B}_N)$ and weighted Bergman spaces $A_α^2(\mathbb{B}_N)$, where $\mathbb{B}_N$ is the unit ball of the $N$-dimensional complex space. By taking $N=1$, $\mathbb{B}_N=\mathbb{D}$ the unit disc, we also complete the discussion about the spectrum of a weighted composition operator when it is invertible on $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ or $A_α^2(\mathbb{D})$.
When 0<p<1, it is known that the p-Bloch and (1-p)-Lipschitz spaces of the unit ball in n-dimensional complex Eucllidean space are equal as sets. We prove that these spaces are additionally norm-equivalent, thus extending known results for n=1 and the polydisk. As an application, we generalize work by Madigan on the disk by investigating boundedness of composition operators between p- and q-Lipschitz spaces of the ball.
Let $ϕ(z)=(ϕ_1(z),...,ϕ_n(z))$ be a holomorphic self-map of $B_n$ and $ψ(z)$ a holomorphic function on $B_n$, and $H(B_n)$ the class of all holomorphic functions on $B_n$, where $B_n$ is the unit ball of $C^n$, the weight composition operator $W_{ψ,ϕ}$ is defined by $W_{ψ,ϕ}=ψf(ϕ)$ for $f\in H(B_n)$. In this paper we estimate the essential norm for the weighted composition operator $W_{ψ,ϕ}$ acting from the Hardy space $H^p$ to $H^q$ ($0<p,q\leq \infty$). When $p=\infty$ and $q=2$, we give an exact formula for the essential norm. As their applications, we also obtain some sufficient and necess…
We show that the weighted Bergman-Orlicz space $A\_α^ψ$ coincides with some weighted Banach space of holomorphic functions if and only if the Orlicz function $ψ$ satisfies the so-called $Δ^{2}$--condition. In addition we prove that this condition characterizes those $A\_α^ψ$ on which every composition operator is bounded or order bounded into the Orlicz space $L\_α^ψ$. This provides us with estimates of the norm and the essential norm of composition operators on such spaces. We also prove that when $ψ$ satisfies the $Δ^{2}$--condition, a composition operator is compact on $A\_α^ψ$ if and only …
We study the compactness of composition operators on the Bergman spaces of certain bounded pseudoconvex domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$ with non-trivial analytic disks contained in the boundary. As a consequence we characterize that compactness of the composition operator with a holomorphic, continuous symbol (up to the closure) on the Bergman space of the polydisk.
For any real $β$ let $H^2_β$ be the Hardy-Sobolev space on the unit disc $\mathbb{D}$. $H^2_β$ is a reproducing kernel Hilbert space and its reproducing kernel is bounded when $β>1/2$. In this paper, we characterize that for a non-constant analytic function $φ:\mathbb{D}\to\mathbb{D}$, when the composition operator $C_{φ}$ on $H^{2}_{β}$ is Fredholm. For $1/2<β<1$, we also prove that $C_{φ}$ has dense range in $H_{β}^{2}$ if and only if the polynomials are dense in a certain Dirichlet space of the domain $φ(\mathbb{D})$. It follows that if the range of $C_{φ}$ is dense in $H_{β}^{2}$, then $φ$…
In thius paper we introduce the Hardy and Bergman spaces on hyperconvex domains relative to a acontinuous exhaustion function. We prove their basic properties and study their composition operators induced by holomorphic mappings between domains.
In this paper, we study 2-complex symmetric composition operators with the conjugation $J$ on the Hardy space $H^2$. More precisely, we obtain the necessary and sufficient condition for the composition operator $C_ϕ$ to be 2-complex symmetric when the symbols $ϕ$ is an automorphism of $\mathbb D$. We also characterize the 2-complex symmetric composition operator $C_ϕ$ on the Hardy space $H^2$ when $ϕ$ is a linear fractional self-map of $\mathbb D$.
We realize norms of most composition operators acting on the Hardy space with linear fractional symbol as roots of hypergeometric functions. This realization leads to simple necessary and sufficient conditions on the symbol to exhibit extremal non-compactness, establishes equivalence of cohyponormality and cosubnormality of composition operators with linear fractional symbol, and yields a complete classification of those linear fractional that induce composition operators whose norms are determined by the action of the adjoint on the normalized reproducing kernels in the Hardy space.
In this paper we prove an invertibility criterion for certain operators which is given as a linear algebraic combination of Toeplitz operators and Fourier multipliers acting on the Hardy space of the unit disc. Very similar to the case of Toeplitz operators we prove that such operators are invertible if and only if they are Fredholm and their Fredholm index is zero. As an application we prove that for "quasi-parabolic" composition operators the spectra and the essential spectra are equal.
The main purpose of this paper is to discuss Hardy type spaces, Bloch type spaces and the composition operators of complex-valued harmonic functions. We first establish a sharp estimate of the Lipschitz continuity of complex-valued harmonic functions in Bloch type spaces with respect to the pseudo-hyperbolic metric, which gives an answer to an open problem. Then some classes of composition operators on Bloch and Hardy type spaces will be investigated. The obtained results improve and extend some corresponding known results.
In \cite{CO-Tp-spaces}, the present authors initiated the study of composition operators on discrete analogue of generalized Hardy space $\mathbb{T}_{p}$ defined on a homogeneous rooted tree. In this article, we give equivalent conditions for the composition operator $C_ϕ$ to be bounded on $\mathbb{T}_{p}$ and on $\mathbb{T}_{p,0}$ spaces and compute their operator norm. We also characterize invertible composition operators as well as isometric composition operators on $\mathbb{T}_{p}$ and on $\mathbb{T}_{p,0}$ spaces. Also, we discuss the compactness of $C_ϕ$ on $\mathbb{T}_{p}$ and finally p…
This paper provides a complete characterization of quasicontractive $C_0$-semigroups on Hardy and Dirichlet space with a prescribed generator of the form $Af=Gf'$. We show that such semigroups are semigroups of composition operators and we give simple sufficient and necessary condition on $G$. Our techniques are based on ideas from semigroup theory, such as the use of numerical ranges.
In this article we study the Cesàro operator $$ \mathcal{C}(f)(z)=\frac{1}{z}\int_{0}^{z}f(ζ)\,dζ, $$ and its companion operator $\mathcal{T}$ on Hardy spaces of the upper half plane. We identify $\mathcal{C}$ and $\mathcal{T}$ as resolvents for appropriate semigroups of composition operators and we find the norm and the spectrum in each case. The relation of $\mathcal{C}$ and $\mathcal{T}$ with the corresponding Cesàro operators on Lebesgue spaces $L^p(\R)$ of the boundary line is also discussed.
In this paper, we find complex symmetric composition operators on the classical Hardy space whose symbols are linear-fractional but not automorphic. In doing so, we answer a recent question of Noor, and partially answer the original problem posed by Garcia and Hammond.
We observe that local embedding problems for certain Hardy and Bergman spaces of Dirichlet series are equivalent to boundedness of a class of composition operators. Following this, we perform a careful study of such composition operators generated by polynomial symbols $φ$ on a scale of Bergman--type Hilbert spaces $\mathcal{D}_α$. We investigate the optimal $β$ such that the composition operator $\mathcal{C}_φ$ maps $\mathcal{D}_α$ boundedly into $\mathcal{D}_β$. We also prove a new embedding theorem for the non-Hilbertian Hardy space $\mathcal H^p$ into a Bergman space in the half-plane and …
We study a Toeplitz type operator $Q_μ$ between the holomorphic Hardy spaces $H^p$ and $H^q$ of the unit ball. Here the generating symbol $μ$ is assumed to a positive Borel measure. This kind of operator is related to many classical mappings acting on Hardy spaces, such as composition operators, the Volterra type integration operators and Carleson embeddings. We completely characterize the boundedness and compactness of $Q_μ:H^p\to H^q$ for the full range $1<p,q<\infty$; and also describe the membership in the Schatten classes of $H^2$. In the last section of the paper, we demonstrate the usef…
We study the boundedness of composition operators on the weighted Bergman spaces and the Hardy space over the polydisc. For arbitrary polydisc we prove the rank sufficiency theorem which, in particular, provides us with a simple criterion describing boundedness of composition operators on the spaces over the bidisc. Such a consistent characterization is obtained for the classical Bergman space over the tridisc.
We study composition operators on the Hardy space $\mathcal{H}^2$ of Dirichlet series with square summable coefficients. Our main result is a necessary condition, in terms of a Nevanlinna-type counting function, for a certain class of composition operators to be compact on $\mathcal{H}^2$. To do that we extend our notions to a Hardy space $\mathcal{H}_Λ^2$ of generalized Dirichlet series, induced in a natural way by a sequence of Beurling's primes.
It is shown that the property of being bounded below (having closed range) of weighted composition operators on Hardy and Bergman spaces can be tested by their action on a set of simple test functions, including reproducing kernels. The methods used in the analysis are based on the theory of reverse Carleson embeddings.
We give an elementary proof of a formula recently obtained by Hammond, Moorhouse, and Robbins for the adjoint of a rationally induced composition operator on the Hardy space H^2. We discuss some variants and implications of this formula, and use it to provide a sufficient condition for a rationally induced composition operator adjoint to be a compact perturbation of a weighted composition operator.

We show that every non-compact weighted composition operator $f \mapsto u\cdot (f\circϕ)$ acting on a Hardy space $H^p$ for $1 \leq p < \infty$ fixes an isomorphic copy of the sequence space $\ell^p$ and therefore fails to be strictly singular. We also characterize those weighted composition operators on $H^p$ which fix a copy of the Hilbert space $\ell^2$. These results extend earlier ones obtained for unweighted composition operators.
