We study a class of perverse sheaves on some spherical varieties which include the strata of the De Concini-Procesi completion of a symmetric variety. This is a generalization of the theory of (parabolic) character sheaves.
A class of perverse sheaves on framed representation varieties of the Jordan quiver is defined. Its relationship with product of symmetric groups, tensor product of Schur algebras, and tensor product of Fock spaces are addressed.
We show that the Borel-equivariant derived category of sheaves on the flag variety of a complex reductive group is equivalent to the perfect derived category of dg modules over the extension algebra of the direct sum of the simple equivariant perverse sheaves. This proves a conjecture of Soergel and Lunts in the case of flag varieties.
In this paper we prove that the category of parity complexes on the flag variety of a complex connected reductive group is a "graded version" of the category of tilting perverse sheaves on the flag variety of the dual group, for any field of coefficients whose characteristic is good. We derive some consequences on Soergel's modular category O, and on multiplicities and decomposition numbers in the category of perverse sheaves.
Staggered $t$-structures are a class of $t$-structures on derived categories of equivariant coherent sheaves. In this note, we show that the derived category of coherent sheaves on a partial flag variety, equivariant for a Borel subgroup, admits an artinian staggered $t$-structure. As a consequence, we obtain a basis for its equivariant $K$-theory consisting of simple staggered sheaves.
We further develop the general theory of the "mixed modular derived category" introduced by the authors in a previous paper in this series. We then use it to study positivity and Q-Koszulity phenomena on flag varieties.
Building on the theory of parity sheaves due to Juteau-Mautner-Williamson, we develop a formalism of "mixed modular perverse sheaves" for varieties equipped with a stratification by affine spaces. We then give two applications: (1) a "Koszul-type" derived equivalence relating a given flag variety to the Langlands dual flag variety, and (2) a formality theorem for the modular derived category of a flag variety (extending a previous result of Riche-Soergel-Williamson).
In this paper we propose a construction of a monoidal category of "free-monodromic" tilting perverse sheaves on (Kac-Moody) flag varieties in the setting of the "mixed modular derived category" introduced by the first and third authors. This category shares most of the properties of their counterpart in characteristic 0, defined by Bezrukavnikov-Yun using certain pro-objects in triangulated categories. This construction is the main new ingredient in the construction of a "modular Koszul duality" equivalence for constructible sheaves on flag varieties, see [P. Achar, S. Makisumi, S. Riche, and …
In this paper we construct an abelian category of "mixed perverse sheaves" attached to any realization of a Coxeter group, in terms of the associated Elias-Williamson diagrammatic category. This construction extends previous work of the first two authors, where we worked with parity complexes instead of diagrams, and we extend most of the properties known in this case to the general setting. As an application we prove that the split Grothendieck group of the Elias-Williamson diagrammatic category is isomorphic to the corresponding Hecke algebra, for any choice of realization.
We construct geometric categorical Lie algebra actions on the derived category of coherent sheaves on Nakajima quiver varieties. These actions categorify Nakajima's construction of Kac-Moody algebra representations on the K-theory of quiver varieties. We define an induced affine braid group action on these derived categories.
We describe categories of equivariant vector bundles on certain toroidal spherical varieties in linear algebra terms: vector spaces equipped with filtrations, group and Lie algebra actions, and linear maps preserving these structures.
In this paper, we study the Coxeter transformation of the derived categories of coherent sheaves on smooth complete varieties. We first obtain that if the rank of the Grothendieck group is finite, say $m$, then its characteristic polynomials is $(λ+(-1)^{n})^m$, where $n$ is dimension of the variety. We then study the Jordan canonical forms of the Coxeter transformations for rational surfaces, smooth complete toric varieties with ample canonical or anticanonical bundles, and prove that their Jordan canonical forms can determine and be determined by the Betti numbers of these varieties. As an a…
We show that the space spanned by the class of simple perverse sheaves in [Zh08] without localization is isomorphic to the tensor product of a Verma module with a tensor product of irreducible integrable modules of the quantum enveloping algebra associated with a graph. Under the isomorphism, the simple perverse sheaves get identified with the canonical basis elements of the tensor product module. We also show that the two stability conditions coincide in the localization process in [Zh08], by using supports and singular supports of complexes of sheaves, respectively.
The theory of character sheaves on a reductive group is extended to a class of varieties which includes the strata of the De Concini-Procesi completion of an adjoint group.
We show that, with coefficients in a field or a complete local ring k, the Braden-MacPherson algorithm computes the stalks of parity sheaves with coefficients in k. As a consequence we deduce that the Braden-MacPherson algorithm may be used to calculate the characters of tilting modules for algebraic groups and show that the p-smooth locus of (Kac-Moody) Schubert varieties agrees with the rationally smooth locus, if the underlying Bruhat graph satisfies a GKM-condition.
Motivated by the polynomial representation theory of the general linear group and the theory of symplectic singularities, we study a category of perverse sheaves with coefficients in a field $k$ on any affine unimodular hypertoric variety. Our main result is that this is a highest weight category whose Ringel dual is the corresponding category for the Gale dual hypertoric variety. On the way to proving our main result, we confirm a conjecture of Finkelberg-Kubrak in the case of hypertoric varieties. We also show that our category is equivalent to representations of a combinatorially-defined al…
We introduce and study the category of modular (i.e. with coefficient of positive characteristic) monodromic perverse sheaves on complex stratified $T$-varieties, with $T$ a complex algebraic torus. In particular, we show that under appropriate assumptions this category has a natural highest weight structure.
We use the Springer correspondence to give a partial characterization of the irreducible representations which appear in the Tymoczko dot-action of the Weyl group on the cohomology ring of a regular semisimple Hessenberg variety. In type A, we apply these techniques to prove that all irreducible summands which appear in the pushforward of the constant sheaf on the universal Hessenberg family have full support. We also observe that the recent results of Brosnan and Chow, which apply the local invariant cycle theorem to the family of regular Hessenberg varieties in type A, extend to arbitrary Li…
In this paper, we describe a categorical action of any Kac-Moody algebra on a category of quantized coherent sheaves on Nakajima quiver varieties. By "quantized coherent sheaves," we mean a category of sheaves of modules over a deformation quantization of the natural symplectic structure on quiver varieties. This action is a direct categorification of the geometric construction of universal enveloping algebras by Nakajima.
We relate a certain category of sheaves of k-vector spaces on a complex affine Schubert variety to modules over the k-Lie algebra (for ch k>0) or to modules over the small quantum group (for ch k=0) associated to the Langlands dual root datum. As an application we give a new proof of Lusztig's conjecture on quantum characters and on modular characters for almost all characteristics. Moreover, we relate the geometric and representation theoretic sides to sheaves on the underlying moment graph, which allows us to extend the known instances of Lusztig's modular conjecture in two directions: We gi…
We describe several general methods for calculating weights of mixed tilting sheaves. We introduce a notion called "non-cancellation property" which implies a strong uniqueness of mixed tilting sheaves and enables one to calculate their weights effectively. When we have a certain Radon transform, we prove a geometric analogue of Ringel duality which sends tilting objects to projective objects. We apply these methods to (partial) flag varieties and affine (partial) flag varieties and show that the weight polynomials of mixed tilting sheaves on flag and affine flag varieties are essentially give…
Given a stratified variety X with strata satisfying a cohomological parity-vanishing condition, we define and show the uniqueness of "parity sheaves", which are objects in the constructible derived category of sheaves with coefficients in an arbitrary field or complete discrete valuation ring. This construction depends on the choice of a parity function on the strata. If X admits a resolution also satisfying a parity condition, then the direct image of the constant sheaf decomposes as a direct sum of parity sheaves, and the multiplicities of the indecomposable summands are encoded in certain r…
Based on a construction by Kashiwara and Rouquier, we present an analogue of the Beilinson- Bernstein localization theorem for hypertoric varieties. In this case, sheaves of differential operators are replaced by sheaves of W-algebras. As a special case, our result gives a localization theorem for rational Cherednik algebras associated to cyclic groups.
We investigate the behaviour of tilting sheaves under pushforward by a finite Galois morphism. We determine conditions under which such a pushforward of a tilting sheaf is a tilting sheaf. We then produce some examples of Severi Brauer flag varieties and arithmetic toric varieties in which our method produces a tilting sheaf, adding to the list of positive results in the literature. We also produce some counterexamples to show that such a pushfoward need not be a tilting sheaf.
We construct an ungraded version of Beilinson-Ginzburg-Soergel's Koszul duality for Langlands dual flag varieties, inspired by Beilinson's construction of rational motivic cohomology in terms of $K$-theory. For this, we introduce and study categories $\operatorname{DK}_{\mathcal{S}}(X)$ of $\mathcal{S}$-constructible $K$-motivic sheaves on varieties $X$ with an affine stratification $\mathcal{S}$. We show that there is a natural and geometric functor, called Beilinson realisation, from $\mathcal{S}$-constructible mixed sheaves $\operatorname{D}^{mix}_{\mathcal{S}}(X)$ to $\operatorname{DK}_{\m…
We realize certain graded Nakajima varieties of finite Dynkin type as orbit closures of repetitive algebras of Dynkin quivers. As an application, we obtain that the perverse sheaves introduced by Nakajima for describing irreducible characters of quantum loop algebras are isomorphic to the intersection cohomology sheaves of these orbit closures.
We consider generalizations of the Springer resolution of the nilpotent cone of a simple Lie algebra by replacing the cotangent bundle with certain other vector bundles over the flag variety. We show that the analogue of the Springer sheaf has as direct summands only intersection cohomology sheaves that arise in the Springer correspondence. The fibers of these general maps are nilpotent Hessenberg varieties, and we build on techniques established by De Concini, Lusztig, and Procesi to study their geometry. For example, we show that these fibers have vanishing cohomology in odd degrees. This le…
In this paper, we will look at actions on complex flag varieties $G/P$ of the torus $\hat{T}=\bigcap\limits_{α\inΔ\setminusΔ_P}\ker(α)$, and under reasonable assumptions, we will give a description of the set $X^{us}$ of unstable points for $\hat{T}$-linearized invertible sheaves. We will investigate the case where $P$ is a maximal parabolic subgroup, and show that $X^{us}$ can be written as a disjoint union of a Schubert variety and an opposite Schubert variety, and we deduce the vanishing of cohomology groups $H^i(Y,{\cal M})$ for invertible sheaves ${\cal M}$ on the quotient variety $Y$ for…
Let $\cP=G/P$ be a homogeneous projective variety with $G$ a reductive group and $P$ a parabolic subgroup. In positive characteristic we exhibit for $G$ of low rank a Karoubian complete strongly exceptional poset of locally free sheaves appearing in the Frobenius direct image of the structure sheaf of $G/P$. These sheaves are all defined over $\bbZ$, so by base change provide a Karoubian complete strongly exceptional poset on $\cP$ over $\bbC$, adding to the list of classical results by Beilinson and Kapranov on the Grassmannians and the quadrics over $\bbC$.
We prove sign-alternation of the structure constants in the basis of structure sheaves of opposite Schubert varieties in the torus-equivariant Grothendieck group of coherent sheaves on the flag varieties $G/P$ associated to an arbitrary symmetrizable Kac-Moody group $G$, where $P$ is any parabolic subgroup. This generalizes the work of Anderson-Griffeth-Miller from the finite case to the general Kac-Moody case, and affirmatively answers a conjecture of Lam-Schilling-Shimozono regarding the signs of the structure constants in the case of the affine Grassmannian.
The geometric Satake isomorphism is an equivalence between the categories of spherical perverse sheaves on affine Grassmanian and the category of representations of the Langlands dual group. We provide a similar description for derived categories of l-adic sheaves on an affine flag variety which are geometric counterparts of a maximal commutative subalgebra in the Iwahori Hecke algebra; of the anti-spherical module over this algebra; and of the space of Iwahori-invariant Whitakker functions.
A general framework for the reduction of the equations defining classes of spherical varieties to (maybe infinite dimensional) grassmannians is proposed. This is applied to model varieties of type A, B and C; in particular a standard monomial theory for these varieties is presented.
Using the theory of spherical varieties and especially Frobenius splitting results for symmetric varieties, we give a type independent very short proof of Wahl's conjecture for cominuscule homogeneous spaces for all primes different from 2.
The goal of these lectures is to explain speaker's results on uniqueness properties of spherical varieties. By a uniqueness property we mean the following. Consider some special class of spherical varieties. Define some combinatorial invariants for spherical varieties from this class. The problem is to determine whether this set of invariants specifies a spherical variety in this class uniquely (up to an isomorphism). We are interested in three classes: smooth affine varieties, general affine varieties, and homogeneous spaces.
We suggest a combinatorial criterion for the smoothness of an arbitrary spherical variety using the classification of multiplicity-free spaces, generalizing an earlier result of Camus for spherical varieties of type $A$.
