Let $S(Λ)$ be the cyclotomic q-Schur algebra associated to the Ariki-Koike algebra $H$. We construct a certain subalgebra $S^0(Λ)$ of $S(Λ)$, and show that it is a standardly based algebra in the sense of Du and Rui. $S^0(Λ)$ has a natural quotient $\bar{S^0}(Λ)$, which turns out to be a cellular algebra. In the case where the modified Ariki-Koike algebra $H^{\flat}$ is defined, $\bar{S^0}(Λ)$ coincides with the cyclotomic q-Schur algebra associated to $H^{\flat}$. In this paper, we discuss a relationship among the decomposition numbers of $S(Λ)$, $S^0(Λ)$ and $\bar{S^0}(Λ)$. In particular, we show that some important part of the decomposition matrix of $S(Λ)$ coincides with a part of the decomposition matrix of $\bar{S^0}(Λ)$.
We give a necessary and sufficient condition on parameters for Ariki-Koike algebras (resp. cyclotomic q-Schur algebras) to be of finite representation type.
We study the Schur elements and the a-function for cyclotomic Hecke algebras. As a consequence, we show the existence of canonical basic sets, as defined by Geck-Rouquier, for certain complex reflection groups. This includes the case of finite Weyl groups for all choices of parameters (in characteristic 0).
The Jantzen sum formula for cyclotomic v-Schur algebras yields an identity for some q-analogues of the decomposition matrices of these algebras. We prove a similar identity for matrices of canonical bases of higher-level Fock spaces. We conjecture then that those matrices are actually identical for a suitable choice of parameters. In particular, we conjecture that decomposition matrices of cyclotomic v-Schur algebras are obtained by specializing at q=1 some transition matrices between the standard basis and the canonical basis of a Fock space.
The paper aims to introduce the cyclotomic $q$-Schur superalgebra via the permutation supermodules of the cyclotomic Hekce algebra and investigate its structure. In particular, we show that the cyclotomic $q$-Schur superalgebra is a cellular superalgebra and establish the Schur-Weyl duality between the cyclotomic Hecke algebra and the cyclotomic $q$-Schur superalgebra.
We give a presentation of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras by generators and defining relations. As an application, we give an algorithm for computing decomposition numbers of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras.
Following the generalization of the notion of families of characters, defined by Lusztig for Weyl groups, to the case of complex reflection groups, thanks to the definition given by Rouquier, we show that the degree and the valuation of the Schur elements (functions A and a) remain constant on the "families" of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of the exceptional complex reflection groups. The same result has already been obtained for the groups of the infinite series and for some special cases of exceptional groups.
We define the induction and restriction functors for cyclotomic q-Schur algebras, and study some properties of them. As an application, we categorify a higher level Fock space by using the module categories of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras.
Motivated by Brundan-Kleshchev's work on higher Schur-Weyl duality, we establish mixed Schur-Weyl duality between general linear Lie algebras and cyclotomic walled Brauer algebras in an arbitrary level. Using weakly cellular bases of cyclotomic walled Brauer algebras, we classify highest weight vectors of certain mixed tensor modules of general linear Lie algebras. This leads to an efficient way to compute decomposition matrices of cyclotomic walled Brauer algebras arising from mixed Schur-Weyl duality, which generalizes early results on level two walled Brauer algebras.
We show that the centraliser of the maximal compact subgroup of the real orthogonal or symplectic groups acting on tensors of their standard representation are isomorphic to cyclotomic Brauer algebras. We also show that for the symplectic group this cyclotomic Brauer algebra splits into summands of walled Brauer algebras.
Let $K$ be an abelian extension of the rationals. Let $S(K)$ be the Schur group of $K$ and let $CC(K)$ be the subgroup of $S(K)$ generated by classes containing cyclic cyclotomic algebras. We characterize when $CC(K)$ has finite index in $S(K)$ in terms of the relative position of $K$ in the lattice of cyclotomic extensions of the rationals.
The paper uses the cellular basis of the (semi-simple) degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras to investigate these algebras exhaustively. As a consequence, we describe explicitly the "Young's seminormal form" and a orthogonal bases for Specht modules and determine explicitly the closed formula for the natural bilinear form on Specht modules and Schur elements for the degenerate cyclotomic Hekce algebras.
We study on Weyl modules of cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebras. In particular, we give the character formula of the Weyl modules by using the Kostka numbers and some numbers which are computed by a generalization of Littlewood-Richardson rule. We also study corresponding symmetric functions. Finally, we give some simple applications to modular representations of cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebras.
Let $\Sc(\vL)$ be the cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebra associated to the Ariki-Koike algebra $\He_{n,r}$, introduced by Dipper-James-Mathas. In this paper, we consider $v$-decomposition numbers of $\Sc(\vL)$, namely decomposition numbers with respect to the Jantzen filtrations of Weyl modules. We prove, as a $v$-analogue of the result obtained by Shoji-Wada, a product formula for $v$-decomposition numbers of $\Sc(\vL)$, which asserts that certain $v$-decomposition numbers are expressed as a product of $v$-decomposition numbers for various cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebras associated to Ariki-koike alg…
Let $S$ be the cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebra associated to the Ariki-Koike algebra $H_{n,r}$ of rank $n$, introduced by Dipper-James-Mathas. For each $p = (r_1, ..., r_g)$ such that $r_1 + ... + r_g = r$, we define a subalgebra $S^p$ of $S$ and its quotient algebra $\bar S^p$. It is shown that $S^p$ is a standardly based algebra and $\bar S^p$ is a cellular algebra. By making use of these algebras, we show that certain decomposition numbers for $S$ can be expressed as a product of decomposition numbers for cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebras associated to smaller Ariki_koike algebras $H_{n_k,r_k}$.

We construct a new basis for a slim cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebra $\cysSr$ via symmetric polynomials in Jucys--Murphy operators of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra $\cysHr$. We show that this basis, labelled by matrices, is not the double coset basis when $\cysHr$ is the Hecke algebra of a Coxeter group, but coincides with the double coset basis for the corresponding group algebra, the Hecke algebra at $q=1$. As further applications, we then discuss the cyclotomic Schur--Weyl duality at the integral level. This also includes a category equivalence and a classification of simple objects.
In our earlier work, we have proved a product formula for certain decomposition numbers of the cyclotomic v-Schur algebra associated to the Ariki-Koike algebra. It is conjectured by Yvonne that the decomposition numbers of this algebra can be described in terms of the canonical basis of the higher level Fock space studied by Uglov. In this paper we prove a product formula related to the canonical basis of the Fock space. In view of Yvonne's conjecture, this formula is regarded as a counter-part for the Fock space of our previous formula.
This paper investigates the tilting modules of the cyclotomic q-Schur algebras, the Young modules of the Ariki-Koike algebras, and the interconnections between them. The main tools used to understand the tilting modules are contragredient duality, and the Specht filtrations and dual Specht filtrations of certain permutation modules. Surprisingly, Weyl filtrations -- which are in general more powerful than Specht filtrations -- play only a secondary role.
We develop a graded version of the theory of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras, in the spirit of the work of Brundan-Kleshchev on Hecke algebras and of Ariki on q-Schur algebras. As an application, we identify the coefficients of the canonical basis on a higher level Fock space with q-analogues of the decomposition numbers of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras. We present cyclotomic q-Schur algebras as a quotient of a convolution algebra arising in the geometry of quivers; hence we call these quiver Schur algebras. These algebras are also presented diagrammatically, similar in flavor to a recent constructi…
We give a proof of the parabolic/singular Koszul duality for the category O of affine Kac-Moody algebras. The main new tool is a relation between moment graphs and finite codimensional affine Schubert varieties. We apply this duality to q-Schur algebras and to cyclotomic rational double affine Hecke algebras.
We introduce a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_{\mathbf{Q}}(\mathbf{m})$ and an associative algebra $\mathcal{U}_{q,\mathbf{Q}}(\mathbf{m})$ associated with the Cartan data of $\mathfrak{gl}_m$ which is separated into $r$ parts with respect to $\mathbf{m}=(m_1, \dots, m_r)$ such that $m_1+ \dots + m_r =m$. We show that the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_{\mathbf{Q}} (\mathbf{m})$ is a filtered deformation of the current Lie algebra of $\mathfrak{gl}_m$, and we can regard the algebra $\mathcal{U}_{q, \mathbf{Q}}(\mathbf{m})$ as a "$q$-analogue" of $U(\mathfrak{g}_{\mathbf{Q}}(\mathbf{m}))$. Then, we reali…
In this paper we give a symbolical formula and a cancellation-free formula for the Schur elements associated to the simple modules of the degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras. As some direct applications, we show that the Schur elements are symmetric with respect to the natural symmetric group action and are integral coefficients polynomials and we give a different proof of Ariki-Mathas-Rui's criterion on the semi-simplicity of degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras.
Gordon James proved that the socle of a Weyl module of a classical Schur algebra is a sum of simple modules labelled by $p$-restricted partitions. We prove an analogue of this result in the very general setting of "Schur pairs". As an application we show that the socle of a Weyl module of a cyclotomic $q$-Schur algebra is a sum of simple modules labelled by Kleshchev multipartitions and we use this result to prove a conjecture of Fayers that leads to an efficient LLT algorithm for the higher level cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type $A$. Finally, we prove a cyclotomic analogue of the Carter-Lusz…
This paper classifies the blocks of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type G(r,1,n) over an arbitrary field. Rather than working with the Hecke algebras directly we work instead with the cyclotomic Schur algebras. The advantage of these algebras is that the cyclotomic Jantzen sum formula gives an easy combinatorial characterization of the blocks of the cyclotomic Schur algebras. We obtain an explicit description of the blocks by analyzing the combinatorics of `Jantzen equivalence'. We remark that a proof of the classification of the blocks of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras was announced in 1999.…
We study the representation theory of the cyclotomic Brauer algebra via truncation to idempotent subalgebras which are isomorphic to a product of walled and classical Brauer algebras. In particular, we determine the block structure and decomposition numbers in characteristic zero.
In recent joint work with Wang, we have constructed graded Specht modules for cyclotomic Hecke algebras. In this article, we prove a graded version of the Lascoux-Leclerc-Thibon conjecture, describing the decomposition numbers of graded Specht modules over a field of characteristic zero.
Brundan and Kleshchev introduced graded decomposition numbers for representations of cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type $A$, which include group algebras of symmetric groups. Graded decomposition numbers are certain Laurent polynomials, whose values at 1 are the usual decomposition numbers. We show that in quantum characteristic 2 every such polynomial has non-zero coefficients either only in odd or only in even degrees. As a consequence, we find the first examples of graded decomposition numbers of symmetric groups with non-zero coefficients in some negative degrees.
After establishing a geometric Schur-Weyl duality in a general setting, we recall this duality in type A in the finite and affine case. We extend the duality in the affine case to positive parts of the affine algebras. The positive parts have nice ideals coming from geometry, allowing duality for quotients. Some of the quotients of the positive affine Hecke algebra are then identified to some cyclotomic Hecke algebras and the geometric setting allows the construction of canonical bases.
We study the Schur elements associated to the simple modules of the Ariki-Koike algebra. We first give a cancellation-free formula for them so that their factors can be easily read and programmed. We then study direct applications of this result. We also complete the determination of the canonical basic sets for cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type $G(l,p,n)$ in characteristic 0.
Inspired by the work [PA], we establish an explicit algebra isomorphism between the degenerate cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebra $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q)$ and a direct sum of matrix algebras over tensor products of degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type $A$. We then develop several applications of this result, including a new proof of the modular representation theory of $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q)$, a semisimplicity criterion for it and cellularity of it. Moreover, we prove that $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q)$ is a symmetric algebra and determine the associated Schur elements by using the isomorphism theorem for it.
We extend Schur-Weyl duality to an arbitrary level $l \geq 1$, the case $l=1$ recovering the classical duality between the symmetric and general linear groups. In general, the symmetric group is replaced by the degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebra over $\C$ parametrized by a dominant weight of level $l$ for the root system of type $A_\infty$. As an application, we prove that the degenerate analogue of the quasi-hereditary cover of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra constructed by Dipper, James and Mathas is Morita equivalent to certain blocks of parabolic category $\mathcal{O}$ for the general linear…
We introduce a path-theoretic framework for understanding the representation theory of (quantum) symmetric and general linear groups and their higher level generalisations over fields of arbitrary characteristic. Our first main result is a "super-strong linkage principle" which provides degree-wise upper bounds for graded decomposition numbers (this is new even in the case of symmetric groups). Next, we generalise the notion of homomorphisms between Weyl/Specht modules which are "generically" placed (within the associated alcove geometries) to cyclotomic Hecke and diagrammatic Cherednik algebr…
We prove a super Frobenius formula for the characters of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras by applying the super Schur-Weyl reciprocity between the quantum superalgebras and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, which is a super analogue of the Frobenius formula in (T. Shoji, J. Algebra 226: 2000, 818--856) and a cyclotomic analogue of the super Frobeinus formula in (H. Mitsuhashi, Linear Multilinear Algebra 58: 2010, 941--955).
A complete system of primitive pairwise orthogonal idempotents for cyclotomic Hecke algebras is constructed by consecutive evaluations of a rational function in several variables on quantum contents of multi-tableaux. This function is a product of two terms, one of which depends only on the shape of the multi-tableau and is proportional to the inverse of the corresponding Schur element.
We give a classification of the simple modules for the cyclotomic Hecke algebras over $\mathbb{C}$ in the modular case. We use the unitriangular shape of the decomposition matrices of Ariki-Koike algebras and Clifford theory.
We describe a generalization of Hashimoto and Kurano's Cauchy filtration for divided powers algebras. This filtration is then used to provide a cellular structure for generalized Schur algebras associated to an arbitrary cellular algebra. Applications to the cellularity of wreath product algebras $A \wr \mathfrak{S}_d$ are also considered.
We define a higher level version of the affine Hecke algebra and prove that, after completion, this algebra is isomorphic to a completion of Webster's tensor product algebra of type A. We then introduce a higher level version of the affine Schur algebra and establish, again after completion, an isomorphism with the quiver Schur algebra. An important observation is that the higher level affine Schur algebra surjects to the Dipper-James-Mathas cyclotomic q-Schur algebra. Moreover, we give nice diagrammatic presentations for all the algebras introduced in this paper.
The deformed current Lie algebra was introduced by the author to study the representation theory of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras at q=1. In this paper, we classify finite dimensional simple modules of deformed current Lie algebras.
A new class of locally unital and locally finite dimensional algebras $A$ over an arbitrary algebraically closed field is discovered. Each of them admits an upper finite weakly triangular decomposition, a generalization of an upper finite triangular decomposition. Any locally unital algebra which admits an upper finite Cartan decomposition is Morita equivalent to some special locally unital algebra $A$ which admits an upper finite weakly triangular decomposition. It is established that the category $A$-lfdmod of locally finite dimensional left $A$-modules is an upper finite fully stratified ca…
Let $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ be the quantized superalgebra of $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{gl}(k_1|\ell_1)\oplus\cdots\oplus\mathfrak{gl}(k_m|\ell_m)$ and $H_{m,n}(q,\mathbf{Q})$ the cyclotomic Hecke algebra of type $G(m,1,n)$. We define a right $H_{m,n}(q,\mathbf{Q})$-action on the $n$-fold tensor (super)space of the vector representation of $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ and prove the Schur--Weyl reciprocity between $U_q(\mathfak{g})$ and $H_{m,n}(q,\mathbf{Q})$.
In this article, we define and study the affine and cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebras. These algebras generalise at the same time the Ariki-Koike and affine Hecke algebras and the Yokonuma-Hecke algebras. We study the representation theory of these algebras and construct several bases for them. We then show how we can define Markov traces on them, which we in turn use to construct invariants for framed and classical knots in the solid torus. Finally, we study the Markov trace with zero parameters on the cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebras and determine the Schur elements with respect to that t…
We prove that certain parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials calculate the graded decomposition matrices of v-Schur algebras given by the Jantzen filtration of Weyl modules, confirming a conjecture of Leclerc and Thibon.
In this paper, we define the Yokonuma-Schur algebra $\text{YS}_{q}(r,n)$ as the endomorphism algebra of a permutation module for the Yokonuma-Hecke algebra $\text{Y}_{r,n}(q).$ We prove that $\text{YS}_{q}(r,n)$ is cellular by constructing an explicit cellular basis following the approach in [DJM], and we further show that it is a quasi-hereditary cover of $\text{Y}_{r,n}(q)$ in the sense of Rouquier following [HM2]. We also introduce the tilting modules for $\text{YS}_{q}(r,n).$ In the appendix, we define and study the cyclotomic Yokonuma-Schur algebra in a similar way.
Recently Tewari and van Willigenburg constructed modules of the 0-Hecke algebra that are mapped to the quasisymmetric Schur functions by the quasisymmetric characteristic and decomposed them into a direct sum of certain submodules. We show that these submodules are indecomposable by determining their endomorphism rings.
When the characteristic of the underlying field is at least 5, we prove that the adjustment matrix for blocks of $q$-Schur algebras of weights 3 and 4 is the identity matrix. Moreover, we show that the decomposition numbers for weight 3 blocks of $q$-Schur algebras are bounded above by one.
We study the unique maximal decomposition of an arbitrary affine permutation into a product of cyclically decreasing elements, providing a new perspective on work of Thomas Lam. This decomposition is closely related to the affine code, which generalizes the $k$-bounded partition associated to Grassmannian elements. We also show that the affine code readily encodes a number of basic combinatorial properties of an affine permutation. As an application, we prove a new special case of the Littlewood-Richardson Rule for $k$-Schur functions, using the canonical decomposition to control for which per…
The paper studies the modular representation theory of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type $G(r,p,n)$ with $(\eps,q)$-separated parameters. We show that the decomposition numbers of these algebras are completely determined by the decomposition matrices of related cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type $G(s,1,m)$, where $1\le s\le r$ and $1\le m\le n$. Furthermore, the proof gives an explicit algorithm for computing these decomposition numbers. Consequently, in principle, the decomposition matrices of these algebras are now known in characteristic zero. In proving these results, we develop a Spech…
We prove an analogue of James-Donkin row removal theorems for arbitrary diagrammatic Cherednik algebras. This is one of the first results concerning the (graded) decomposition numbers of these algebras over fields of arbitrary characteristic. As a special case, our results yield a new reduction theorem for graded decomposition numbers and extension groups for cyclotomic q-Schur algebras.
