The classical Fourier-Mukai duality establishes an equivalence of categories between the derived categories of sheaves on dual complex tori. In this article we show that this equivalence extends to an equivalence between two dual objects. Both of these are generalized deformations of the complex tori. In one case, a complex torus is deformed formally in a non-commutative direction specified by a holomorphic Poisson structure. In the other, the dual complex torus is deformed in a B-field direction to a formal gerbe. We show these two deformations are Fourier-Mukai equivalent.
We study the generalized hypergeometric system introduced by Gelfand, Kapranov and Zelevinsky and its relationship with the toric Deligne-Mumford (DM) stacks recently studied by Borisov, Chen and Smith. We construct series solutions with values in a combinatorial version of the Chen-Ruan (orbifold) cohomology and in the $K$-theory of the associated DM stacks. In the spirit of the homological mirror symmetry conjecture of Kontsevich, we show that the $K$-theory action of the Fourier-Mukai functors associated to basic toric birational maps of DM stacks are mirrored by analytic continuation trans…
Let $X$ be a complex torus of dimension $g$ and $\hat{X}$ be the dual torus. For any $g(g-1)/2$-tuple $λ$ of complex numbers of absolute value $1$, we define a non-commutative complex torus $X_λ$ as a sheaf of algebras on a real torus of dimension $g$. We prove that if all components of $λ$ are roots of unity, then the category of coherent sheaves on $X_λ$ is abelian and derived-equivalent to the category of coherent sheaves on $\hat{X}$ twisted by an element of the Brauer group of $\hat{X}$ determined by $λ$.
In arXiv:math/0311139, as evidence for his conjecture in birational log geometry, Kawamata constructed a family of derived equivalences between toric orbifolds. In arXiv:0911.4711, we showed that the derived category of a toric orbifold is naturally identified with a category of polyhedrally-constructible sheaves on R^n. In this paper we investigate and reprove some of Kawamata's results from this perspective.
We prove that a coherent DQ-kernel induces an equivalence between the derived categories of DQ-modules with coherent cohomology if and only if the graded commutative kernel associated to it induces an equivalence between the derived categories of coherent sheaves.
In this article, we construct a non-commutative crepant resolution (=NCCR) of a minimal nilpotent orbit closure $\overline{B(1)}$ of type A, and study relations between an NCCR and crepant resolutions $Y$ and $Y^+$ of $\overline{B(1)}$. More precisely, we show that the NCCR is isomorphic to the path algebra of the double Beilinson quiver with certain relations and we reconstruct the crepant resolutions $Y$ and $Y^+$ of $\overline{B(1)}$ as moduli spaces of representations of the quiver. We also study the Kawamata-Namikawa's derived equivalence between crepant resolutions $Y$ and $Y^+$ of $\ove…
The cohomology groups of line bundles over complex tori (or abelian varieties) are classically studied invariants of these spaces. In this article, we compute the cohomology groups of line bundles over various holomorphic, non-commutative deformations of complex tori. Our analysis interpolates between two extreme cases. The first case is a calculation of the space of (cohomological) theta functions for line bundles over constant, commutative deformations. The second case is a calculation of the cohomologies of non-commutative deformations of degree-zero line bundles.
In this note we introduce a new family of non-commutative spaces that we call non-commutative toric varieties and we describe some of their main properties. The main technical tool in this investigation is a natural extension of LVM-theory for the irrational case. In order to introduce the moduli space of (non-commutative) toric varieties we use variations on the notion of diffeology as models for non-commutative spaces.
We give a criterion for the existence of non-commutative crepant resolutions (NCCR's) for certain toric singularities. In particular we recover Broomhead's result that a 3-dimensional toric Gorenstein singularity has a NCCR. Our result also yields the existence of a NCCR for a 4-dimensional toric Gorenstein singularity which is known to have no toric NCCR.
Using the theory of dimer models Broomhead proved that every 3-dimensional Gorenstein affine toric variety Spec R admits a toric non-commutative crepant resolution (NCCR). We give an alternative proof of this result by constructing a tilting bundle on a (stacky) crepant resolution of Spec R using standard toric methods. Our proof does not use dimer models.
We exhibit a transformation taking special Lagrangian submanifolds of a Calabi-Yau together with local systems to vector bundles over the mirror manifold with connections obeying deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills equations. That is, the transformation relates supersymmetric A- and B-cycles. In this paper, we assume that the mirror pair are dual torus fibrations with flat tori and that the A-cycle is a section. We also show that this transformation preserves the (holomorphic) Chern-Simons functional for all connections. Furthermore, on corresponding moduli spaces of supersymmetric cycles it identif…
In this paper, we will introduce Quantum Toric Varieties which are (non-commutative) generalizations of ordinary toric varieties where all the tori of the classical theory are replaced by quantum tori. Quantum toric geometry is the non-commutative version of the classical theory; it generalizes non-trivially most of the theorems and properties of toric geometry. By considering quantum toric varieties as (non-algebraic) stacks, we define their category and show that it is equivalent to a category of quantum fans. We develop a Quantum Geometric Invariant Theory (QGIT) type construction of Quantu…
We suggest to compactify the universal covering of the moduli space of complex structures by non-commutative spaces. The latter are described by certain categories of sheaves with connections which are flat along foliations. In the case of abelian varieties this approach gives quantum tori as a non-commutative boundary of the moduli space. Relations to mirror symmetry, modular forms and deformation theory are discussed.
We study non-commutative degenerations of elliptic curves over local fields. The corresponding objects are close relatives of non-commutative tori of Connes and Rieffel.
Let $R$ be the coordinate ring of an affine toric variety. We show that the endomorphism ring $End_R(\mathbb A),$ where $\mathbb A$ is the (finite) direct sum of all (isomorphism classes of) conic $R$-modules, has finite global dimension. Furthermore, we show that $End_R(\mathbb A)$ is a non-commutative crepant resolution if and only if the toric variety is simplicial. For toric varieties over a perfect field $k$ of prime characteristic, we show that the ring of differential operators $D_\mathsf{k}(R)$ has finite global dimension.
We give a construction of NC-smooth thickenings (a notion defined by Kapranov in math/9802041) of a smooth variety equipped with a torsion free connection. We show that a twisted version of this construction realizes all NC-smooth thickenings as 0th cohomology of a differential graded sheaf of algebras, similarly to Fedosov's construction in \cite{Fed}. We use this dg resolution to construct and study sheaves on NC-smooth thickenings. In particular, we construct an NC version of the Fourier-Mukai transform from coherent sheaves on a (commutative) curve to perfect complexes on the canonical NC-…
We interpret symplectic geometry as certain sheaf theory by constructing a sheaf of curved A_\infty algebras which in some sense plays the role of a "structure sheaf" for symplectic manifolds. An interesting feature of this "structure sheaf" is that the symplectic form itself is part of its curvature term. Using this interpretation homological mirror symmetry can be understood by well-known duality theories in mathematics: Koszul duality or Fourier- Mukai transform. In this paper we perform the above constructions over a small open subset inside the smooth locus of a Lagrangian torus fibration…
We study the Fourier-Mukai transform for holonomic D-modules on a complex abelian variety. Among other things, we show that the cohomology support loci of a holonomic complex are finite unions of translates of triple tori, the translates being by torsion points for objects of geometric origin; and that the standard t-structure on the derived category of holonomic complexes corresponds, under the Fourier-Mukai transform, to a certain perverse coherent t-structure in the sense of Kashiwara and Arinkin-Bezrukavnikov.
In this paper, we study splitting (or toric) non-commutative crepant resolutions (= NCCRs) of some toric rings. In particular, we consider Hibi rings, which are toric rings arising from partially ordered sets, and show that Gorenstein Hibi rings with class group $\mathbb{Z}^2$ have a splitting NCCR. In the appendix, we also discuss Gorenstein toric rings with class group $\mathbb{Z}$, in which case the existence of splitting NCCRs is already known. We especially observe the mutations of modules giving splitting NCCRs for the three dimensional case, and show the connectedness of the exchange gr…
The aim of this paper is to study an analog of non-commutative Donaldson-Thomas theory corresponding to the refined topological vertex for small crepant resolutions of toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds. We define the invariants using dimer models and provide "wall-crossing" formulas. In particular, we get normalized generating functions which are unchanged under "wall-crossing".
We consider the rigid monoidal category of character sheaves on a smooth commutative group scheme $G$ over a finite field $k$ and expand the scope of the function-sheaf dictionary from connected commutative algebraic groups to this setting. We find the group of isomorphism classes of character sheaves on $G$ and show that it is an extension of the group of characters of $G(k)$ by a cohomology group determined by the component group scheme of $G$. We also classify all morphisms in the category character sheaves on $G$. As an application, we study character sheaves on Greenberg transforms of loc…
We propose a generalization of the topological vertex, which we call the "non-commutative topological vertex". This gives open BPS invariants for a toric Calabi-Yau manifold without compact 4-cycles, where we have D0/D2/D6-branes wrapping holomorphic 0/2/6-cycles, as well as D2-branes wrapping disks whose boundaries are on D4-branes wrapping non-compact Lagrangian 3-cycles. The vertex is defined combinatorially using the crystal melting model proposed recently, and depends on the value of closed string moduli at infinity. The vertex in one special chamber gives the same answer as that computed…
This paper is a very brief and gentle introduction to non-commutative geometry geared primarily towards physicists and geometers. It starts with a brief historical description of the motivation for non-commutative geometry and then goes on to motivate the subject from the point of view of the the understanding of local symmetries affordee by the theory of groupoids. The paper ends with a very rapid survey of recent developments and applications such as non-commutative toric geometry, the standard model for particle physics and the study of the Riemann Hypothesis.
If K is a number field, arithmetic duality theorems for tori and complexes of tori over K are crucial to understand local-global principles for linear algebraic groups over K. When K is a global field of positive characteristic, we prove similar arithmetic duality theorems, including a Poitou-Tate exact sequence for Galois hypercohomology of complexes of tori. One of the main ingredients is Artin-Mazur-Milne duality theorem for fppf cohomology of finite flat commutative group schemes.
As many will agree, it feels good to complement a cup of tea by a donut or two. This sweet relationship is also a guiding principle of non-commutative geometry known as Serre Theorem. We explain the algebra behind this theorem and prove that elliptic curves are complementary to the so-called non-commutative tori.
We introduce special classes of non-commutative crepant resolutions (= NCCR) which we call steady and splitting. We show that a singularity has a steady splitting NCCR if and only if it is a quotient singularity by a finite abelian group. We apply our results to toric singularities and dimer models.
In this expository paper, we discuss how Fourier-Mukai-type transformations, which we call SYZ mirror transformations, can be applied to provide a geometric understanding of the mirror symmetry phenomena for semi-flat Calabi-Yau manifolds and toric Fano manifolds. We also speculate the possible applications of these transformations to other more general settings.
In this paper I construct a geometric transformation for generalized 1-motives which extends the Fourier-Mukai transformation for O-Modules on abelian varieties, the geometric Fourier transformation for D-Modules on vector spaces and the geometric Mellin transformation for D-Modules on tori. In particular, I construct an equivalence of triangulated categories between the derived category of quasi-coherent D-Modules on an abelian variety and the derived category of quasi-coherent O-Modules on the universal extension of the dual abelian variety. This equivalence has also been obtained by Mitchel…
In this paper, we study divisorial ideals of a Hibi ring which is a toric ring arising from a partially ordered set. We especially characterize the special class of divisorial ideals called conic using the associated partially ordered set. Using our description of conic divisorial ideals, we also construct a module giving a non-commutative crepant resolution (= NCCR) of the Segre product of polynomial rings. Furthermore, applying the operation called mutation, we give other modules giving NCCRs of it.
