To a tree of semi-simple algebras we associate a qurve (or formally smooth algebra) S. We introduce a Zariski- and etale quiver describing the finite dimensional representations of S. In particular, we show that all quotient varieties of the etale quiver have a natural Poisson structure induced by a double Poisson algebra structure on a certain universal localization of its path algebra. Explicit calculations are included for the group algebras of the arithmetic groups (P)SL2(Z) and GL2(Z) but the methods apply as well to congruence subgroups.
Parallel to operated algebras built on top of planar rooted trees via the grafting operator $B^+$, we introduce and study $\vee$-algebras and more generally $\vee_Ω$-algebras based on planar binary trees. Involving an analogy of the Hochschild 1-cocycle condition, cocycle $\vee_Ω$-bialgebras (resp.~$\vee_Ω$-Hopf algebras) are also introduced and their free objects are constructed via decorated planar binary trees. As a special case, the well-known Loday-Ronco Hopf algebra $H_{LR}$ is a free cocycle $\vee$-Hopf algebra. By means of admissible cuts, a combinatorial description of the coproduct $…
We organize colored aromatic trees into a pre-Lie-Rinehart algebra (i.e. a flat torsion-free Lie-Rinehart algebra) endowed with a natural trace map, and show the freeness of this object among pre-Lie-Rinehart algebras with trace. This yields the algebraic foundations of aromatic B-series.
It is known that there is a Hopf algebra structure on the vector space with basis all heap-ordered trees. We give a new bialgebra structure on the space with basis all permutations and show that there is a direct bialgebra isomorphism between the Hopf algebra of heap-ordered trees and the bialgebra of permutations.
We introduce a generalization of parametrized Rota-Baxter algebras, which includes family and matching Rota-Baxter algebras. We study the structure needed on the set $Ω$ of parameters in order to obtain that free Rota-Baxter algebras are described in terms of typed and angularly decorated planar rooted trees: we obtain the notion of $λ$-extended diassociative semigroup, which includes sets (for matching Rota-Baxter algebras) and semigroups (for family Rota-Baxter algebras), and many other examples. We also describe free commutative $Ω$-Rota-Baxter algebras generated by a commutative algebra A …
We introduce a generalization of tridendriform algebras, where each of the three products are replaced by a family of products indexed by a set $Ω$. We study the needed structure on $Ω$ for free $Ω$-tridendriform algebras to be built on Schr{ö}der trees (as it is the case in the classical case), with convenient decorations on their leaves. We obtain in this way extended triassociative semigroups. We describe commutative $Ω$-tridendriform algebras in terms of typed words. We also study links with generalizations of Rota-Baxter algebras and describe the Koszul duals of the corresponding operads.
We introduce bidendriform bialgebras, which are bialgebras such that both product and coproduct can be split into two parts satisfying good compatibilities. For example, the Malvenuto-Reutenauer Hopf algebra and the non-commutative Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebras of planar decorated rooted trees are bidendriform bialgebras. We prove that all connected bidendriform bialgebras are generated by their primitive elements as a dendriform algebra bidendriform Milnor-Moore theorem) and then is isomorphic to a Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra. As a corollary, the Hopf algebra of Malvenuto-Reutenauer is isomorp…
We consider the combinatorial Dyson-Schwinger equation X=B^+(P(X)) in the non-commutative Connes-KreimerHopf algebra of planar rooted trees H, where B^+ is the operator of grafting on a root, and P a formal series. The unique solution X of this equation generates a graded subalgebra A_P of\H. We describe all the formal series P such that A_P is a Hopf subalgebra. We obtain in this way a 2-parameters family of Hopf subalgebras of H, organized into three isomorphism classes: a first one, restricted to a olynomial ring in one variable; a second one, restricted to the Hopf subalgebra of ladders, i…
This paper addresses several structural aspects of the insertion-elimination algebra, a Lie algebra that can be realized in terms of tree-inserting and tree-eliminating operations on the set of rooted trees. In particular, we determine the finite-dimensional subalgebras, the automorphism group, the derivation group, and a generating set for the insertion-elimination Lie algebra. Many parts of the results are stated for a more general class of Lie algebras and reproduce results for the generalized Virasoro algebras.
We provide an expository account of some of the Hopf algebras that can be defined using trees, labeled trees, ordered trees and heap ordered trees. We also describe some actions of these Hopf algebras on algebra of functions.
We first show that increasing trees are in bijection with set compositions, extending simultaneously a recent result on trees due to Tonks and a classical result on increasing binary trees. We then consider algebraic structures on the linear span of set compositions (the twisted descent algebra). Among others, a number of enveloping algebra structures are introduced and studied in detail. For example, it is shown that the linear span of trees carries an enveloping algebra structure and embeds as such in an enveloping algebra of increasing trees. All our constructions arise naturally from the g…
Based on the Connes--Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees, the rooted tree maps are defined as linear maps on noncommutative polynomial algebra in two indeterminates. It is known that they induce a large class of linear relations for multiple zeta values. In this paper, we investigate some basic algebraic properties of rooted tree maps by relating to the harmonic algebra. We also characterize the antipode maps as the conjugation by the special map $τ$.
Description of cocommutative Hopf algebras associated with families of trees. Applications include Cayley's theorem on the number of rooted trees with n nodes, and Catalan's theorem on the number of rooted ordered trees with n nodes.
By means of a new notion of subforests of an angularly decorated rooted forest, we give a combinatorial construction of a coproduct on the free Rota-Baxter algebra on angularly decorated rooted forests. We show that this coproduct equips the Rota-Baxter algebra with a bialgebra structure and further a Hopf algebra structure.
Xu introduced a family of root-tree-diagram nilpotent Lie algebras of differential operators, in connection with evolution partial differential equations. We generalized his notion to more general oriented tree diagrams. These algebras are natural analogues of the maximal nilpotent Lie subalgebras of finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. In this paper, we use Hodge Laplacian to study the cohomology of these Lie algebras. The "total rank conjecture" and "$b_2$-conjecture" for the algebras are proved. Moreover, we find the generating functions of the Betti numbers by means of Young tableaux fo…
Typed decorated trees are used by Bruned, Hairer and Zambotti to give a description of a renormalisation processon stochastic PDEs. We here study the algebraic structures on these objects: multiple prelie algebrasand related operads (generalizing a result by Chapoton and Livernet), noncommutative and cocommutative Hopf algebras (generalizing Grossman and Larson's construction),commutative and noncocommutative Hopf algebras (generalizing Connes and Kreimer's construction),bialgebras in cointeraction (generalizing Calaque, Ebrahimi-Fard and Manchon's result). We also define families of morphisms…
We study 2-term tilting complexes of Brauer tree algebras in terms of simplicial complexes. We show the symmetry and convexity of the simplicial complexes as lattice polytopes. Via a geometric interpretation of derived equivalences, we show that the $f$-vector of simplicial complexes of Brauer tree algebras only depends the number of the edges of the Brauer trees and hence it is a derived invariant. In particular, this result implies that the number of 2-term tilting complexes, which is in bijection with support $τ$-tilting modules, is a derived invariant. Moreover, we apply our result to the …
A Pre-Lie algebra is a vector space L endowed with a bilinear product * : L \times L to L satisfying the relation (x*y)*z-x*(y*z)= (x*z)*y-x*(z*y), for all x,y,z in L. We give an explicit combinatorial description in terms of rooted trees of the operad associated to this type of algebras and prove that it is a Koszul operad.
In this paper, we study averaging operators from an algebraic and combinatorial point of view. We first construct free averaging algebras in terms of a class of bracketed words called averaging words. We next apply this construction to obtain one and two variable generating functions for subsets of averaging words when the averaging operator is taken to be idempotent. When the averaging algebra has an idempotent generator, the generating function in one variable is twice the generating function for large Schröder numbers, leading us to give interpretations of large Schröder numbers in terms of…
Let $Q$ be a tree-type quiver, $\mathbf{k} Q$ its path algebra, and $λ$ a nonzero element in the field $\mathbf{k}$. We construct irreducible morphisms in the Auslander-Reiten quiver of the transjective component of the bounded derived category of $\mathbf{k} Q$ that satisfy what we call the $λ$-relations. When $λ=1$, the relations are known as mesh relations. When $λ=-1$, they are known as commutativity relations. Using this technique together with the results given by Baer-Geigle-Lenzing, Crawley-Boevey, Ringel, and others, we show that for any tree-type quiver, several descriptions of its p…
Happel and Unger reconstructed hereditary algebras from their posets of tilting modules. Inspired by this result, we try removing the assumption to be hereditary. However, it would be unfortunately fail in general: e.g. every selfinjective algebra has the poset consisting of only one point. Therefore, we should consider a generalization of the Happel-Unger's result for posets of support $τ$-tilting modules, which contains those of tilting modules. In this paper, we spotlight finite dimensional algebras whose support $τ$-tilting posets coincide with those of tree quiver algebras and give a full…
This paper introduces the braidings of dendriform algebras and tridendriform algebras. By studying free braided dendriform algebras, we obtain braidings of the Hopf algebras of Loday and Ronco of planar binary rooted trees. We also give a variation of the braiding of Foissy for the noncommutative Connes-Kreimer (a.k.a the Foissy-Holtkamp) Hopf algebra of planar rooted forests so that the well-known isomorphism between this Hopf algebra and the Loday-Ronco Hopf algebra is extended to the braided context. As free braided tridendriform algebras, we also give braided extension of the Hopf algebra …
We consider absolutely free nonassociative algebras and, more generally, absolutely free algebras with (maybe infinitely) many multilinear operations. Such algebras are described in terms of labeled reduced planar rooted trees. This allows to apply combinatorial techniques to study their Hilbert series and the asymptotics of their coefficients. These algebras satisfy the Nielsen-Schreier property and their subalgebras are also free. Then, over a field of characteristic 0, we investigate the subalgebras of invariants under the action of a linear group, their sets of free generators and their Hi…
In this paper, we first prove that a Rota-Baxter family algebra indexed by a semigroup induces an ordinary Rota-Baxter algebra structure on the tensor product with the semigroup algebra. We show that the same phenomenon arises for dendriform and tridendriform family algebras. Then we construct free dendriform family algebras in terms of typed decorated planar binary trees. Finally, we generalize typed decorated rooted trees to typed valently decorated Schröder trees and use them to construct free tridendriform family algebras.
Combinatorial objects such as rooted trees that carry a recursive structure have found important applications recently in both mathematics and physics. We put such structures in an algebraic framework of operated semigroups. This framework provides the concept of operated semigroups with intuitive and convenient combinatorial descriptions, and at the same time endows the familiar combinatorial objects with a precise algebraic interpretation. As an application, we obtain constructions of free Rota-Baxter algebras in terms of Motzkin paths and rooted trees.
A Rota-Baxter algebra, also known as a Baxter algebra, is an algebra with a linear operator satisfying a relation, called the Rota-Baxter relation, that generalizes the integration by parts formula. Most of the studies on Rota-Baxter algebras have been for commutative algebras. Two constructions of free commutative Rota-Baxter algebras were obtained by Rota and Cartier in the 1970s and a third one by Keigher and one of the authors in the 1990s in terms of mixable shuffles. Recently, noncommutative Rota-Baxter algebras have appeared both in physics in connection with the work of Connes and Krei…
This article surveys results on graded algebras and their Hilbert series. We give simple constructions of finitely generated graded associative algebras $R$ with Hilbert series $H(R,t)$ very close to an arbitrary power series $a(t)$ with exponentially bounded nonnegative integer coefficients. Then we summarize some related facts on algebras with polynomial identity. Further we discuss the problem how to find series $a(t)$ which are rational/algebraic/transcendental over ${\mathbb Q}(t)$. Applying a classical result of Fatou we conclude that if a finitely generated graded algebra has a finite G…
