We develop a generalized Littlewood-Paley theory for semigroups acting on $L^p$-spaces of functions with values in uniformly convex or smooth Banach spaces. We characterize, in the vector-valued setting, the validity of the one-sided inequalities concerning the generalized Littlewood-Paley-Stein $g$-function associated with a subordinated Poisson symmetric diffusion semigroup by the martingale cotype and type properties of the underlying Banach space. We show that in the case of the usual Poisson semigroup and the Poisson semigroup subordinated to the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroup on ${\mathbb R}^n$, this general theory becomes more satisfactory (and easier to be handled) in virtue of the theory of vector-valued Calderón-Zygmund singular integral operators.
In this paper, we establish a good-$\lz$ inequality with two parameters in the Schrödinger settings. As it's applications, we obtain weighted estimates for spectral multipliers and Littlewood-Paley operators and their commutators in the Schrödinger settings.
Let $L=-Δ+V$ be a Schrödinger operator, where $Δ$ is the Laplacian operator on $\rz$, while the nonnegative potential $V$ belongs to certain reverse Hölder class. In this paper, we establish some weighted norm inequalities for commutators of Littlewood-Paley functions related to Schrödinger operators.
In this work, some non smooth bilinear analogues of linear Littlewood-Paley square functions on the real line are studied. These bilinear operators are closely related to the bilinear Hilbert transforms and vector valued version of these ones. Mainly we prove boundedness-properties in Lebesgue spaces for them.
The paper studies Banach spaces satisfying the Littlewood-Paley-Rubio de Francia property LPR_p, 2 \leq p < \infty. The paper shows that every Banach lattice whose 2-concavification is a UMD Banach lattice has this property. The paper also shows that every space having LPR_q also has LPR_p with q \leq p < \infty.
In this paper we prove a parabolic version of the Littlewood-Paley inequality for a class of time-dependent local and non-local operators of arbitrary order, and as an application we show this inequality gives a fundamental estimate for the $L_p$-theory of the stochastic partial differential equations.
Let $Γ$ be a graph equipped with a Markov operator $P$. We introduce discrete fractional Littlewood-Paley square functionals and prove their $L^p$-boundedness under various geometric assumptions on $Γ$.
In this paper, we show a parabolic version of the Ogawa type inequality in Sobolev spaces. Our inequality provides an estimate of the $L^{\infty}$ norm of a function in terms of its parabolic $BMO$ norm, with the aid of the square root of the logarithmic dependency of a higher order Sobolev norm. The proof is mainly based on the Littlewood-Paley decomposition and a characterization of parabolic $BMO$ spaces.
In this paper we obtain new characterizations of the uniformly convex and smooth Banach spaces. These characterizations are established by using Lp-boundedness properties of Littlewood-Paley functions and area integrals associated with heat semigroups and involving fractional derivatives. Our results apply for instance by considering the heat semigroups defined by Hermite and Laguerre operators that do not satisfy the Markovian property.
In this paper we consider generalized square function norms of holomorphic functions with values in a Banach space. One of the main results is a characterization of embeddings of the form \[L^p(X)\subseteq γ(X) \subseteq L^q(X),\] in terms of the type $p$ and cotype $q$ for the Banach space $X$. As an application we prove $L^p$-estimates for vector-valued Littlewood-Paley-Stein $g$-functions and derive an embedding result for real and complex interpolation spaces under type and cotype conditions.
We present the Littlewood-Paley Identity for the Mittag-Leffler space ML2(C; α) of entire functions. We also briefly demonstrate the connection between the Littlewood-Paley Identity and the compactness of the weighted composition operator on ML2(C; α).
The article proves an assertion analogous to the Littlewood-Paley theorem for the orthoprojectors onto wavelet subspaces corresponding to the multidimensional multiresolution analysis generated as tensor product of smooth finite scaling functions of one variable.
In this paper we consider Littlewood-Paley functions defined by the semigroups associated with the operator $\mathcal{A}=-\fracΔ{2}-x\nabla$ in the inverse Gaussian setting for Banach valued functions. We characterize the uniformly convex and smooth Banach spaces by using $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n,γ_{-1})$- properties of the $\mathcal{A}$-Littlewood-Paley functions. We also use Littlewood-Paley functions associated with $\mathcal{A}$ to characterize the Köthe function spaces with the UMD property.
We prove the following correction theorem: every function $f$ on the circumference $\mathbb{T}$ that is bounded by the $α_1$-weight $w$ (this means that $Mw^2 \leq C w^2$) can be modified on a set $e$ with $\int\limits_{e} w \leq \eps$ so that its quadratic function built up from arbitary sequence of nonintersecting intervals in $\mathbb{Z}$ will not exceed $C \log \frac{1}{\eps} w$.
The article proves an assertion analogous to the Littlewood-Paley theorem for the orthoprojectors onto wavelet subspaces corresponding to the nonisotropic multiresolution analysis generated as tensor product of smooth scaling single-variable functions sufficiently rapidly vanishing at infinity.
We exhibit a fundamental link between Hairer's theory of regularity structures and the paracontrolled calculus of Gubinelli, Imkeller and Perkowski. By using paraproducts we provide a Littlewood-Paley description of the spaces of modelled distributions in regularity structures that is similar to the Besov description of classical Hölder spaces.
We apply spectral theoretic methods to obtain a Littlewood-Paley decomposition of abstract inhomogeneous Besov spaces in terms of "smooth" and "bandlimited" functions. Well-known decompositions in several contexts are as special examples and are unified under the spectral theoretic approach
Rubio de Francia proved the one-sided Littlewood--Paley inequality for arbitrary intervals in $L^p$, $2 \le p < \infty$. In this article, his methods are developed and employed to prove an analogue of such an inequality "beyond the index $p=\infty$", i.e., for spaces of Hölder functions and BMO.
Let $S_α$ be the multilinear square function defined on the cone with aperture $α\geq 1$. In this paper, we investigate several kinds of weighted norm inequalities for $S_α$. We first obtain a sharp weighted estimate in terms of aperture $α$ and $\vec{w} \in A_{\vec{p}}$. By means of some pointwise estimates, we also establish two-weight inequalities including bump and entropy bump estimates, and Fefferman-Stein inequalities with arbitrary weights. Beyond that, we consider the mixed weak type estimates corresponding Sawyer's conjecture, for which a Coifman-Fefferman inequality with the precise…
We consider the fractional derivative of a general Poisson semigroup. With this fractional derivative we define the generalized fractional Littlewood-Paley $g$-function for semigroups acting on $L^p$-spaces of functions with values in Banach spaces. We give a characterization of the classes of Banach spaces for which the fractional Litlewood-Paley $g$-function is bounded on $L^p$-spaces. We show that the class of Banach spaces is independent of the order of derivation and coincides with the classical (Lusin type/cotype) case. It is also shown that the same kind of results exist for the case of…
A version of Littlewood-Paley-Rubio de Francia inequality for the two-parameter Walsh system is proved: for any family of disjoint rectangles $I_k = I_k^1 \times I_k^2$ in ${\mathbb{Z}_+ \times \mathbb{Z}_+}$ and a family of functions $f_k$ with Walsh spectrum inside $I_k$ the following is true \[\left\lVert\sum\limits_k f_k\right\rVert_{L^p} \leq C_p \left\lVert\left(\sum\limits_k \left|f_k\right|^2\right)^{1/2}\right\rVert_{L^p}, \qquad 1 < p \leq 2,\] where $C_p$ does not depend on the choice of rectangles $\left\{I_k\right\}$ or functions $\left\{f_k\right\}$. The arguments are based on th…
In this paper we prove a parabolic version of the Littlewood-Paley inequality for the operators of the type $ϕ(-Δ)$, where $ϕ$ is a Bernstein function. As an application, we construct an $L_p$-theory for the stochastic integro-differential equations of the type $du=(-ϕ(-Δ)u+f)dt +gdW_t$.
The $L^p$ boundedness on vertical Littlewood--Paley square functions for heat flows on $\textup{RCD}(K,\infty)$ spaces with $K\in\mathbb{R}$ is proved. With regards to the proof, for $1<p\leq 2$, Stein's analytical method is applied, while for $2<p<\infty$, the probabilistic approach in the sense of Bañuelos--Bogdan--Luks introduced recently is employed.
Rubio de Francia proved the one-sided Littlewood--Paley inequality for arbitrary intervals in $L^p$, $2 \le p < \infty$. In this article, such an inequality is proved for the Walsh system.
J. L. Rubio de Francia proved the one-sided Littlewood--Paley inequality for arbitrary intervals in $L^p$, $2\le p<\infty$ and later N. N. Osipov proved the similar inequality for Walsh functions. In this paper we investigate some properties of Banach spaces $X$ such that the latter inequality holds for $X$-valued functions.
In this paper we have studied Fourier multipliers and Littlewood-Paley square functions in the context of modulation spaces. We have also proved that any bounded linear operator from modulation space $\mathcal{M}_{p,q}(\R^n), 1\leq p,q\leq \infty,$ into itself possesses an $l_2-$valued extension. This is an analogue of a well known result due to Marcinkiewicz and Zygmund on classical $L^p-$spaces.
Let $X$ be a Banach space. It is proved that an analogue of the Rubio de Francia square function estimate for partial sums of the Fourier series of $X$-valued functions holds true for all disjoint collections of subintervals of the set of integers of equal length and for all exponents $p$ greater or equal than 2 if and only if the space $X$ is a UMD space of type 2. The same criterion is obtained for the case of subintervals of the real line and Fourier integrals instead of Fourier series.
In this paper, we establish the equivalence between the Hajłasz-Sobolev spaces or classical Triebel-Lizorkin spaces and a class of grand Triebel-Lizorkin spaces on Euclidean spaces and also on metric spaces that are both doubling and reverse doubling. In particular, when $p\in(n/(n+1),\infty)$, we give a new characterization of the Hajłasz-Sobolev spaces $\dot M^{1, p}({\mathbb R}^n)$ via a grand Littlewood-Paley function.
In this work, we give new sufficient conditions for a Littlewood-Paley-Stein square function and necessary and sufficient conditions for a Calderón-Zygmund operator to be bounded on Hardy spaces $H^p$ with indices smaller than $1$. New Carleson measure type conditions are defined for Littlewood-Paley-Stein operators, and we show that they are sufficient for the associated square function to be bounded from $H^p$ into $L^p$. New polynomial growth $BMO$ conditions are also introduced for Calderón-Zygmund operators. These results are applied to prove that Bony paraproducts can be constructed such…
Let $μ$ be a Borel measure on $R^d$ which may be non doubling. The only condition that $μ$ must satisfy is $μ(B(x,r))\leq C r^n$ for all $x\in R^d$, $r>0$, and for some fixed $0<n\leq d$. In this paper, we develop Littlewood-Paley theory for functions in $L^p(μ)$. One of the main difficulties is the construction of reasonable approximations of the identity for obtaining a Calderon type reproducing formula. Moreover, it is shown that the T(1) theorem for n-dimensional Calderon-Zygmund operators, without doubling assumptions, can be proved using the Littlewood-Paley decomposition that is obtaine…
We use Littlewood-Paley-Stein type g-functions (also called generalized square functions) associated to symmetric diffusion semigroups to obtain a characterization of inhomogeneous abstract Besov spaces on the abstract Hilbert spaces. Then we apply our results for the abstract Besov spaces defined through the Poisson and Gauss-Weierstrass semigroups.
In this paper we establish $L^p$ boundedness properties for maximal operators, Littlewood-Paley functions and variation operators involving Poisson semigroups and resolvent operators associated with nonsymmetric Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators. We consider the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators defined by the identity as the covariance matrix and having a drift given by the matrix $-λ(I+R)$, being $λ>0$ and $R$ a skew-adjoint matrix. The semigroup associated with these Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators are the basic building blocks of all normal Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups.
The goal of this note is to prove a analogue of the Littewood-Paley decomposition for densities of operators and to use it in the context of Lieb-Thirring inequalities.
In this paper we establish $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d,γ_\infty)$-boundedness properties for square functions involving time and spatial derivatives of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups. Here $γ_\infty$ denotes the invariant measure. In order to prove the strong type results for $1<p<\infty$ we use $R$-boundedness. The weak type (1,1) property is established by studying separately global and local operators defined for the square Littlewood-Paley functions. By the way we prove $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d,γ_\infty)$-boundedness properties for maximal and variation operators for Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups.
We prove Paley-Littlewood decompositions for the scales of fractional powers of $0$-sectorial operators $A$ on a Banach space which correspond to Triebel-Lizorkin spaces and the scale of Besov spaces if $A$ is the classical Laplace operator on $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n).$We use the $H^\infty$-calculus, spectral multiplier theorems and generalized square functions on Banach spaces and apply our results to Laplace-type operators on manifolds and graphs, Schrödinger operators and Hermite expansion. We also give variants of these results for bisectorial operators and for generators of groups with a bounded…
We obtain Littlewood-Paley formulas for Fock spaces $\mathcal{F}^q_{β,ω}$ induced by weights $ω\in A^{restricted}_\infty=\cup_{1\le p<\infty}A^{restricted}_{p}$, where $A^{restricted}_{p}$ is the class of weights such that the Bergman projection $P_α$, on the classical Fock space $\mathcal{F}^2_α$, is bounded on $$\mathcal{L}^p_{α,ω}:=\left\{f:\, \int_{\mathbb{C}}|f(z)|^pe^{-p\fracα{2}|z|^2}\,ω(z)dA(z)<\infty \right\}. $$ Using these equivalent norms for $\mathcal{F}^q_{β,ω}$ we characterize the Carleson measures for weighted Fock-Sobolev spaces $\mathcal{F}^{q,n}_{β,ω}$.
Let $X$ be a ball quasi-Banach function space on ${\mathbb R}^n$. In this article, assuming that the powered Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator satisfies some Fefferman--Stein vector-valued maximal inequality on $X$ and is bounded on the associated space, the authors establish various Littlewood--Paley function characterizations of the Hardy space $H_X({\mathbb R}^n)$ associated with $X$, under some weak assumptions on the Littlewood--Paley functions. To this end, the authors also establish a useful estimate on the change of angles in tent spaces associated with $X$. All these results have wid…
In this paper, the authors characterize Sobolev spaces $W^{α,p}({\mathbb R}^n)$ with the smoothness order $α\in(0,2]$ and $p\in(\max\{1, \frac{2n}{2α+n}\},\infty)$, via the Lusin area function and the Littlewood-Paley $g_λ^\ast$-function in terms of centered ball averages. The authors also show that the condition $p\in(\max\{1, \frac{2n}{2α+n}\},\infty)$ is nearly sharp in the sense that these characterizations are no longer true when $p\in (1,\max\{1, \frac{2n}{2α+n}\})$. These characterizations provide a new possible way to introduce fractional Sobolev spaces with smoothness order in $(1,2]$…
In this paper, a family of holomorphic spaces of tent type in the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$ is introduced, which is closely related to maximal and area integral functions in terms of the Bergman metric. It is shown that these spaces coincide with Bergman spaces. Furthermore, Littlewood-Paley type $g$-functions for the Bergman spaces are introduced in terms of the radial derivative, the complex gradient, and the invariant gradient. The corresponding characterizations for Bergman spaces are obtained as well. As an application, we obtain new maximal and area integral characterizations for Hardy…
For the natural two parameter filtration $(\mathcal{F}_λ: λ\in P)$ on the boundary of a triangle building we define a maximal function and a square function and show their boundedness on $L^p(Ω_0)$ for $p \in (1, \infty)$. At the end we consider $L^p(Ω_0)$ boundedness of martingale transforms. If the building is of $\text{GL}(3, \mathbb{Q}_p)$ then $Ω_0$ can be identified with $p$-adic Heisenberg group.
Let $L:=-Δ+V$ be the Schrödinger operator on $\mathbb{R}^n$ with $n\geq 3$, where $V$ is a non-negative potential which belongs to certain reverse Hölder class $RH_q(\mathbb{R}^n)$ with $q\in (n/2,\,\infty)$. In this article, the authors obtain the quantitative weighted boundedness of Littlewood--Paley functions $g_L$, $S_L$ and $g_{L,\,λ}^\ast$, associated to $L$, on weighted Lebesgue spaces $L^p(w)$, where $w$ belongs to the class of Muckenhoupt $A_p$ weights adapted to $L$.
In this paper we prove new inequalities describing the relationship between the "size" of a function on a compact homogeneous manifold and the "size" of its Fourier coefficients. These inequalities can be viewed as noncommutative versions of the Hardy-Littlewood inequalities obtained by Hardy and Littlewood on the circle. For the example case of the group SU(2) we show that the obtained Hardy-Littlewood inequalities are sharp, yielding a criterion for a function to be in $L^p$ on SU(2) in terms of its Fourier coefficients. We also establish Paley and Hausdorff-Young-Paley inequalities on gener…
Let $p\in(0,1]$, $q\in(0,\infty]$ and $A$ be a general expansive matrix on $\mathbb{R}^n$. Let $H^{p,q}_A(\mathbb{R}^n)$ be the anisotropic Hardy-Lorentz spaces associated with $A$ defined via the non-tangential grand maximal function. In this article, the authors characterize $H^{p,q}_A(\mathbb{R}^n)$ in terms of the Lusin-area function, the Littlewood-Paley $g$-function or the Littlewood-Paley $g_λ^*$-function via first establishing an anisotropic Fefferman-Stein vector-valued inequality in the Lorentz space $L^{p,q}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. All these characterizations are new even for the classical …
We obtain a complete characterization of the entire functions $g$ such that the integral operator $(T_ g f)(z)=\int_{0}^{z}f(ζ)\,g'(ζ)\,dζ$ is bounded or compact, on a large class of Fock spaces $\mathcal{F}^ϕ_p$, induced by smooth radial weights that decay faster than the classical Gaussian one. In some respects, these spaces turn out to be significantly different than the classical Fock spaces. Descriptions of Schatten class integral operators are also provided. En route, we prove a Littlewood-Paley formula for $||\cdot||_{\mathcal{F}^ϕ_p}$ and we characterize the positive Borel measures for…
Let $X$ be a ball quasi-Banach function space on ${\mathbb R}^n$ and assume that the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator satisfies the Fefferman--Stein vector-valued maximal inequality on $X$, and let $q\in[1,\infty)$ and $d\in(0,\infty)$. In this article, the authors prove that, for any $f\in \mathcal{L}_{X,q,0,d}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ (the ball Campanato-type function space associated with $X$), the Littlewood--Paley $g$-function $g(f)$ is either infinite everywhere or finite almost everywhere and, in the latter case, $g(f)$ is bounded on $\mathcal{L}_{X,q,0,d}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. Similar results for bo…
Let $X$ be a ball quasi-Banach function space on ${\mathbb R}^n$. In this article, assuming that the powered Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator satisfies some Fefferman--Stein vector-valued maximal inequality on $X$ as well as it is bounded on both the weak ball quasi-Banach function space $WX$ and the associated space, the authors establish various Littlewood--Paley function characterizations of $WH_X({\mathbb R}^n)$ under some weak assumptions on the Littlewood--Paley functions. The authors also prove that the real interpolation intermediate space $(H_{X}({\mathbb R}^n),L^\infty({\mathbb R}^…
In this paper we investigate Besov spaces on graded Lie groups. We prove a Nikolskii type inequality (or the Reverse Hölder inequality) on graded Lie groups and as consequence we obtain embeddings of Besov spaces. We prove a version of the Littlewood-Paley theorem on graded Lie groups. The results are applied to obtain embedding properties of Besov spaces and multiplier theorems for both spectral and Fourier multipliers in Besov spaces on graded Lie groups. In particular, we give a number of sufficient conditions for the boundedness of Fourier multipliers in Besov spaces.
Let $L = Δ+ V$ be a Schrödinger operator with a non-negative potential $V$ on a complete Riemannian manifold $M$. We prove that the vertical Littlewood-Paley-Stein functional associated with $L$ is bounded on $L^p(M)$ {\it if and only if} the set $\{\sqrt{t}\, \nabla e^{-tL}, \, t > 0\}$ is ${\mathcal R}$-bounded on $L^p(M)$. We also introduce and study more general functionals. For a sequence of functions $m_k : [0, \infty) \to \mathbb{C}$, we define $$H((f_k)) := \Big( \sum_k \int_0^\infty | \nabla m_k(tL) f_k |^2 dt \Big)^{1/2} + \Big( \sum_k \int_0^\infty | \sqrt{V} m_k(tL) f_k |^2 dt \Big…
