We study some basic properties of schematic homotopy types and the schematization functor. We describe two different algebraic models for schematic homotopy types: co-simplicial Hopf alegbras and equivariant co-simplicial algebras, and provide explicit constructions of the schematization functor for each of these models. We also investigate some standard properties of the schematization functor helpful for the description of the schematization of smooth projective complex varieties. In a companion paper these results are used in the construction of a non-abelian Hodge structure on the schematic homotopy type of a smooth projective variety.
This is an expended and revised version of the preprint "Schematization of homotopy types". The purpose of this work is to introduce a notion of \emph{affine stacks}, which is a homotopy version of the notion of affine schemes, and to give several applications in the context of algebraic topology and algebraic geometry. As a first application we show how affine stacks can be used in order to give a new point of view (and new proofs) on rational and $p$-adic homotopy theory. This gives a first solution to A. Grothendieck's \emph{schematization problem} described in \cite{gr}. We also use affine…
In this work we use Hodge theoretic methods to study homotopy types of complex projective manifolds with arbitrary fundamental groups. The main tool we use is the \textit{schematization functor} $X \mapsto (X\otimes \mathbb{C})^{sch}$, introduced by the third author as a substitute for the rationalization functor in homotopy theory in the case of non-simply connected spaces. Our main result is the construction of a \textit{Hodge decomposition} on $(X\otimes\mathbb{C})^{sch}$. This Hodge decomposition is encoded in an action of the discrete group $\mathbb{C}^{\times δ}$ on the object $(X\otimes…
Developing an algorithm for computing the Betti numbers of semi-algebraic sets with singly exponential complexity has been a holy grail in algorithmic semi-algebraic geometry and only partial results are known. In this paper we consider the more general problem of computing the image under the homology functor of a semi-algebraic map $f:X \rightarrow Y$ between closed and bounded semi-algebraic sets. For every fixed $\ell \geq 0$ we give an algorithm with singly exponential complexity that computes bases of the homology groups $\mathrm{H}_i(X), \mathrm{H}_i(Y)$ (with rational coefficients) and…
Reflexive functors of modules naturally appear in Algebraic Geometry. In this paper we define a wide and elementary family of reflexive functors of modules, closed by tensor products and homomorphisms, in which Algebraic Geometry can be developed.
In this paper we will prove that there exists a covariant functor, called algebraic anabelian functor, from the category of algebraic schemes over a given field to the category of outer homomorphism sets of groups. The algebraic anabelian functor, given in a canonical manner, is full and faithful. It reformulates the anabelian geometry over a field. As an application of the anabelian functor, we will also give a proof of the section conjecture of Grothendieck for the case of algebraic schemes.
We give, for a complex algebraic variety $S$, a Hodge realization functor $\mathcal F_S^{Hdg}$ from the derived category of constructible motives $DA_c(S)$ to the derived category $D(MHM(S))$ of algebraic mixed Hodge modules over $S$. Moreover, for $f:T\to S$ a morphism of complex quasi-projective algebraic varieties, $\mathcal F_{-}^{Hdg}$ commutes with the four operation $f^*$,$f_*$,$f_!$,$f^!$ on $DA_c(-)$ and $D(MHM(-))$, making the Hodge realization functor a morphism of 2-functor wich for a given $S$ sends $DA_c(S)$ to $D(MHM(S)$, moreover $\mathcal F_S^{Hdg}$ commutes with tensor produc…
We show that under mild hypotheses on a proper algebraic space $X$, the functors of taking its symmetric powers and its étale realisation commute up to weak equivalence. We conclude an effective version of the Dold-Thom theorem for the étale site and discuss the stabilisation results for the natural morphisms of étale homotopy groups $π_k \mathrm{Sym}^n X \to π_k \mathrm{Sym}^{n+1} X$ in the context of the Weil conjectures.
We define the equivariant Chern-Schwartz-MacPherson class of a possibly singular algebraic variety with a group action over the complex number field (or a field of characteristic 0). In fact, we construct a natural transformation from the equivariant constructible function functor to the equivariant homology functor (in the sense of Totaro-Edidin-Graham), which may be regarded as MacPherson's transformation for (certain) quotient stacks. We discuss on other type Chern/Segre classes and give some applications generalizing orbifold Euler characteristics and Thom polynomials of singularities. The…
Voevodsky's derived category of motives is the main arena today for the study of algebraic cycles and motivic cohomology. In this paper we study whether the inclusions of three important subcategories of motives have a left or right adjoint. These adjoint functors are useful constructions when they exist, describing the best approximation to an arbitrary motive by a motive in a given subcategory. We find a fairly complete picture: some adjoint functors exist, including a few which were previously unexplored, while others do not exist because of the failure of finite generation for Chow groups …
Let $A$ be an Artinian local ring with algebraically closed residue field $k$, and let $\mathbf{G}$ be an affine smooth group scheme over $A$. The Greenberg functor $\mathcal{F}$ associates to $\mathbf{G}$ a linear algebraic group $G:=(\mathcal{F}\mathbf{G})(k)$ over $k$, such that $G\cong\mathbf{G}(A)$. We prove that if $\mathbf{G}$ is a reductive group scheme over $A$, and $\mathbf{T}$ is a maximal torus of $\mathbf{G}$, then $T$ is a Cartan subgroup of $G$, and every Cartan subgroup of $G$ is obtained uniquely in this way. The proof is based on establishing a Nullstellensatz analogue for sm…
We study linear Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) quantization, which is a derived and shifted version of the Weyl quantization of symplectic vector spaces. Using a variety of homotopical machinery, we implement this construction as a symmetric monoidal functor of $\infty$-categories. We also show that this construction has a number of pleasant properties: It has a natural extension to derived algebraic geometry, it can be fed into the higher Morita category of $E_n$-algebras to produce a "higher BV quantization" functor, and when restricted to formal moduli problems, it behaves like a determinant. Alon…
We study Hom 2-functors parameterizing 1-morphisms of algebraic stacks, and prove that it is representable by an algebraic stack under certain conditions, using Artin's criterion. As an application we study Picard 2-functors which parameterizes line bundles on algebraic stacks.
We give an alternative construction of the Betti realization functor on the derived category of motives of complex algebraic varieties via the category of CW complexes instead of the category of complex analytic spaces. In particular we show that the functor we define via the category of CW complexes coincide with Ayoub's one. We deduce from this construction that Ayoub's realization functor on geometric motives factors trough Nori motives and that the image of this functor on the morphisms between the motive of a point and a shift of a Tate twist of the motive with compact support of a comple…
Given a separated and locally finitely-presented Deligne-Mumford stack $\cX$ over an algebraic space $S$, and a locally finitely-presented $\OO_{\cX}$-module $\cF$, we prove that the Quot functor $\text{Quot}(\cF/\cX/S)$ is represented by a separated and locally finitely-presented algebraic space over $S$. Under additional hypotheses, we prove that the connected components of $\text{Quot}(\cF/\cX/S)$ are quasi-projective over $S$.
In this work we introduce reciprocity functors, construct the associated K-group of a family of reciprocity functors, which itself is a reciprocity functor, and compute it in several different cases. It may be seen as a first attempt to get close to the notion of reciprocity sheaves imagined by B. Kahn. Commutative algebraic groups, homotopy invariant Nisnevich sheaves with transfers, cycle modules or Kähler differentials are examples of reciprocity functors. As commutative algebraic groups do, reciprocity functors are equipped with symbols and satisfy a reciprocity law for curves.
We define the algebraic fundamental group functor of a reductive group scheme over an arbitrary (non-empty) base scheme and prove that this functor is exact.
We propose some variants of Lefschetz fixed point theorem for Fourier-Mukai functors on a smooth projective algebraic variety. Independently we also suggest a similar theorem for endo-functors on the category of perfect modules over a smooth and proper DG algebra.
On a smooth algebraic variety over $\mathbb{C}$, we build the tempered subanalytic and Stein tempered subanalytic sites. We construct the sheaf of holomorphic functions tempered at infinity over these sites and study their relations with the sheaf of regular functions, proving in particular that these sheaves are isomorphic on Zariski open subsets. We show that these data allow to define the functors of tempered and Stein tempered analytifications. We study the relations between these two functors and the usual analytification functor. We also obtain algebraization results in the non-proper ca…
We prove some finiteness theorems for the Picard functor of an algebraic stack, in the spirit of SGA 6, exp. XII and XIII. In particular, we give a stacky version of Raynaud's relative representability theorem, we give sufficient conditions for the existence of the torsion component of the Picard functor, and for the finite generation of the Neron-Severi groups or of the Picard group itself. We give some examples and applications. In an appendix, we prove the semicontinuity theorem for a (non necessarily tame) algebraic stack.
We give the definitions of affine algebraic supervariety and affine algebraic group through the functor of points and we relate them to the other definitions present in the literature. We study in detail the algebraic supergroup $SL(m|n)$ and give explicitly the Hopf algebra structure of the algebra representing its functor of points. At the end we give also the quantization of $SL(m|n)$ together with its coactions on suitable quantum spaces according to Manin's philosophy.
A covariant functor from the category of generic complex algebraic curves to a category of the AF-algebras is constructed. The construction is based on a representation of the Teichmueller space of a curve by the measured foliations due to Douady, Hubbard, Masur and Thurston. The functor maps isomorphic algebraic curves to the stably isomorphic AF-algebras.
We describe the complex of solutions of the algebraic Mellin transform of a $\mathcal{D}$-module $\mathcal{M}$ in terms of the solutions of $\mathcal{M}$. In order to do that, we define a Mellin functor on sheaves. We show the Mellin transform of the complex of rapid decay solutions of a regular holonomic $\mathcal{D}$-module $\mathcal{M}$ is quasi-isomorphic to the complex of solutions of the algebraic Mellin transform of $\mathcal{M}$, the assumption of regularity not being necessary in the one variable case.
In this paper, we show Langton's type theorem on separatedness and properness of moduli functor of torsion free semistable sheaves on algebraic orbifolds over an algebraically closed field k
We construct a family of oriented extended topological field theories using the AKSZ construction in derived algebraic geometry, which can be viewed as an algebraic and topological version of the classical AKSZ field theories that occur in physics. These have as their targets higher categories of symplectic derived stacks, with higher morphisms given by iterated Lagrangian correspondences. We define these, as well as analogous higher categories of oriented derived stacks and iterated oriented cospans, and prove that all objects are fully dualizable. Then we set up a functorial version of the A…
We prove that if a group scheme of multiplicative type acts on an algebraic stack with affine, finitely presented diagonal then the stack of fixed points is algebraic. For this, we extend two theorems of [SGA3.2] on functors of subgroups of multiplicative type, and functors of homomorphisms from a group of multiplicative type.
Reflexive functors of modules naturally appear in Algebraic Geometry, mainly in the theory of linear representations of group schemes, and in "duality theories". In this paper we study and determine reflexive functors and we give many properties of reflexive functors.
We give scheme-theoretic descriptions of the category of fibre functors on the categories of sheaves associated to the Zariski, Nisnevich, étale, rh, cdh, ldh, eh, qfh, and h topologies on the category of separated schemes of finite type over a separated noetherian base. Combined with a theorem of Deligne on the existence of enough points, this provides an algebro-geometric description of a conservative family of fibre functors on these categories of sheaves. As an example of an application we show direct image along a closed immersion is exact for all these topologies except qfh. The methods …
We prove that under a certain mild hypothesis, the DG category of D-modules on a quasi-compact algebraic stack is compactly generated. We also show that under the same hypothesis, the functor of global sections on the DG category of quasi-coherent sheaves is continuous.
In this paper we will prove that there exists a covariant functor from the category of schemes to the category of graphs. This functor provides a combination between algebraic varieties and combinatorial graphs so that the invariants defined on graphs can be introduced to algebraic varieties in a natural manner. By the functor, we will define the combinatorial norm of a morphism of schemes. Then we will obtain some properties of morphisms of norm not great than one. The topics discussed here can be applied to study the discrete Morse theory on arithmetic schemes and Kontsevich's theory of grap…
If $S$ is a scheme of finite type over $k=\cc $, let $\Xx /S$ denote the big etale site of schemes over $S$. We introduce {\em presentable group sheaves}, a full subcategory of the category of sheaves of groups on $\Xx /S$ which is closed under kernel, quotient, and extension. Group sheaves which are representable by group schemes of finite type over $S$ are presentable; pullback and finite direct image preserve the notions of presentable group sheaves; over $S=Spec (k)$ then presentable group sheaves are just group schemes of finite type over $Spec(k)$; there is a notion of connectedness exte…
In this paper we prove that the etale sheafification of the functor arising from the quotient of an algebraic supergroup by a closed subsupergroup is representable by a smooth superscheme.
We prove that algebraic G-theory in is representable in unstable and stable motivic homotopy categories; in the stable category we identify it with the Borel-Moore theory associated to algebraic K-theory, and show that such an identification is compatible with the functorialities defined by Quillen and Thomason.
