We use the theory of quantization to introduce non-commutative versions of metric on state space and Lipschitz seminorm. We show that a lower semicontinuous matrix Lipschitz seminorm is determined by their matrix metrics on the matrix state spaces. A matrix metric comes from a lower semicontinuous matrix Lip-norm if and only if it is convex, midpoint balanced, and midpoint concave. The operator space of Lipschitz functions with a matrix norm coming from a closed matrix Lip-norm is the operator space dual of an operator space. They generalize Rieffel's results to the quantized situation.
In the present paper we prove that every 2-local inner derivation on the matrix ring over a commutative ring is an inner derivation and every derivation on an associative ring has an extension to a derivation on the matrix ring over this associative ring. We also develop a Jordan analog of the above method and prove that every 2-local inner derivation on the Jordan matrix ring over a commutative ring is a derivation.
Given a compact metric space X and a unital AF algebra A equipped with a faithful tracial state, we place quantum metrics on the tensor product of C(X) and A given established quantum metrics on C(X) and A from work with Bice and Latrémolière. We prove the inductive limit of C(X) tensor A given by A is a metric limit in the Gromov-Hausdorff propinquity. We show that our quantum metric is compatible with the tensor product by producing a Leibniz rule on elementary tensors and showing the diameter of our quantum metric on the tensor product is bounded above the diameter of the Cartesian product …
The paper gives a general condition on permutations, condition under which a semicircular matrix is free independent, or asymptotically free independent from the semicircular matrix obtained by permuting its entries. In particular, it is shown that semicircular matrices are asymptotically free from their transposes, a result similar to the case of Gaussian random matrices. There is also an analysis of asymptotic second order relations between semicircular matrices and their transposes, with results not very similar to the commutative (i.e. Gaussian random matrices) framework. The paper also pr…
In this paper we generalize classical results regarding minimal realizations of non-commutative (nc) rational functions using nc Fornasini-Marchesini realizations which are centred at an arbitrary matrix point. We prove the existence and uniqueness of a minimal realization for every nc rational function, centred at an arbitrary matrix point in its domain of regularity. Moreover, we show that using this realization we can evaluate the function on all of its domain (of matrices of all sizes) and also with respect to any stably finite algebra. As a corollary we obtain a new proof of the theorem b…
We characterize derivations and 2-local derivations from $M_{n}(\mathcal{A})$ into $M_{n}(\mathcal{M})$, $n \ge 2$, where $\mathcal{A}$ is a unital algebra over $\mathbb{C}$ and $\mathcal{M}$ is a unital $\mathcal{A}$-bimodule. We show that every derivation $D: M_{n}(\mathcal{A}) \to M_{n}(\mathcal{M})$, $n \ge 2,$ is the sum of an inner derivation and a derivation induced by a derivation from $\mathcal{A}$ to $\mathcal{M}$. We say that $\mathcal{A}$ commutes with $\mathcal{M}$ if $am=ma$ for every $a\in\mathcal{A}$ and $m\in\mathcal{M}$. If $\mathcal{A}$ commutes with $\mathcal{M}$ we prove t…
Non-commutative Polynomials of Independent Gaussian Random Matrices. The Real and Symplectic Cases
Haagerup和Thorbjornsen在他们的论文“A new application of random matrices:Ext(C*_red(F_2))is not a group”中证明了Voiculescu的随机矩阵模型对于独立复自伴高斯随机矩阵的扩展。我们将他们的结果推广到具有实或辛元素的随机矩阵(GOE-和GSE-系综)以及与之相关的随机矩阵系综。
We study dynamical optimal transport metrics between density matrices associated to symmetric Dirichlet forms on finite-dimensional $C^*$-algebras. Our setting covers arbitrary skew-derivations and it provides a unified framework that simultaneously generalizes recently constructed transport metrics for Markov chains, Lindblad equations, and the Fermi Ornstein--Uhlenbeck semigroup. We develop a non-nommutative differential calculus that allows us to obtain non-commutative Ricci curvature bounds, logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, transport-entropy inequalities, and spectral gap estimates.
In a previous paper the authors generalized classical results of minimal realizations of non-commutative (nc) rational functions, using nc Fornasini--Marchesini realizations which are centred at an arbitrary matrix point. In particular, it was proved that the domain of regularity of a nc rational function is contained in the invertibility set of a corresponding pencil of any minimal realization of the function. In this paper we prove an equality between the domain of a nc rational function and the domain of any of its minimal realizations. As for evaluations over stably finite algebras, we sho…
We explore the finite-dimensional part of the non-commutative Choquet boundary of an operator algebra. In other words, we seek finite-dimensional boundary representations. Such representations may fail to exist even when the underlying operator algebra is finite-dimensional. Nevertheless, we exhibit mechanisms that detect when a given finite-dimensional representation lies in the Choquet boundary. Broadly speaking, our approach is topological and requires identifying isolated points in the spectrum of the $\mathrm{C}^*$-envelope. This is accomplished by analyzing peaking representations and pe…
Using a diagrammatic reformulation of Bayes' theorem, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of Bayesian inference in the setting of finite-dimensional $C^*$-algebras. In other words, we prove an analogue of Bayes' theorem in the joint classical and quantum context. Our analogue is justified by recent advances in categorical probability theory, which have provided an abstract formulation of the classical Bayes' theorem. In the process, we further develop non-commutative almost everywhere equivalence and illustrate its important role in non-commutative Bayesian invers…
