If $\fg$ is a semisimple Lie algebra, we describe the prime factors of $\mcU(\fg)$ that have enough finite dimensional modules. The proof depends on some combinatorial facts about the Weyl group which may be of independent interest. We also determine, which finite dimensional $\mcU(\fg)$-modules are modules over a given prime factor. As an application we study finite dimensional modules over some rings of invariant differential operators arising from Howe duality.
We study relations between finite-dimensional representations of color Lie algebras and their cocycle twists. Main tools are the universal enveloping algebras and their FCR-properties (finite-dimensional representations are completely reducible.) Cocycle twist preserves the FCR-property. As an application, we compute all finite dimensional representations (up to isomorphism) of the color Lie algebra $sl_2^c$.
We study certain Poisson structures related to quantized enveloping algebras. In particular, we give a description of the Poisson structure of a certain manifold associated to the ring of differential operators.
We describe the cohomology of the sheaf of twisted differential operators on the quantized flag manifold at a root of unity whose order is a prime power. It follows from this and our previous results that for the De Concini-Kac type quantized enveloping algebra, where the parameter $q$ is specialized to a root of unity whose order is a prime power, the number of irreducible modules with a certain specified central character coincides with the dimension of the total cohomology group of the corresponding Springer fiber. This gives a weak version of a conjecture of Lusztig concerning non-restrict…
Theory of the quantized flag manifold as a quasi-scheme (non-commutative scheme) has been developed by Lunts-Rosenberg. They have formulated an analogue of the Beilinson-Bernstein correspondence using the $q$-differential operators introduced in their earlier paper. In this paper we shall establish its modified version using a class of $q$-differential operators, which is (possibly) smaller than the one used by Lunts-Rosenberg.
Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0, $Y=k^{r}\times {(k^{\times})}^{s}$ and let $G$ be an algebraic torus acting diagonally on the ring of differential operators $\cD (Y)^G$. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for $\cD (Y)^G$ to have enough simple finite dimensional representations, in the sense that the intersection of the kernels of all the simple finite dimensional representations is zero. As an application we show that if $K\longrightarrow GL(V)$ is a representation of a reductive group $K$ and if zero is not a weight of a maximal torus of $K$ on $V$, then…
We formulate a Beilinson-Bernstein type derived equivalence for a quantized enveloping algebra at a root of 1 as a conjecture. It says that there exists a derived equivalence between the category of modules over a quantized enveloping algebra at a root of 1 with fixed regular Harish-Chandra central character and the category of certain twisted $D$-modules on the corresponding quantized flag manifold. We show that the proof is reduced to a statement about the (derived) global sections of the ring of differential operators on the quantized flag manifold. We also give a reformulation of the conje…
We give a short new proof for the theorem that global sections of the sheaf of quantum differential operators on a quantum flag manifold are given by the quantum group. As corollaries we retrieve Joseph and Letzter's quantum versions of classical enveloping algebra theorems of Duflo and Kostant. We also describe the center of the ad-integrable part of the quantum group and the adjoint Lie algebra action on it.
Gradients are natural first order differential operators depending on Riemannian metrics. The principal symbols of them are related to the enveloping algebra and higher Casimir elements. We give certain relations in the enveloping algebra, which induce not only identities for higher Casimir elements but also all Bochner-Weitzenböck formulas for gradients. As applications, we give some vanishing theorems.
We investigate the structure of the ring ${\mathbb D}_G(X)$ of $G$-invariant differential operators on a reductive spherical homogeneous space $X=G/H$ with an overgroup $\widetilde{G}$. We consider three natural subalgebras of ${\mathbb D}_G(X)$ which are polynomial algebras with explicit generators, namely the subalgebra ${\mathbb D}_{\widetilde{G}}(X)$ of $\widetilde{G}$-invariant differential operators on $X$ and two other subalgebras coming from the centers of the enveloping algebras of $\mathfrak g$ and $\mathfrak k$, where $K$ is a maximal proper subgroup of $G$ containing $H$. We show t…
To each multiquiver $Γ$ we attach a solution to the consistency equations associated to twisted generalized Weyl (TGW) algebras. This generalizes several previously obtained solutions in the literature. We show that the corresponding algebras $\mathcal{A}(Γ)$ carry a canonical representation by differential operators and that $\mathcal{A}(Γ)$ is universal among all TGW algebras with such a representation. We also find explicit conditions in terms of $Γ$ for when this representation is faithful or locally surjective. By forgetting some of the structure of $Γ$ one obtains a Dynkin diagram, $D(Γ)…
We conjecture the existence of an embedding of the Racah algebra into the universal enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}_n$. Evidence of this conjecture is offered by realizing both algebras using differential operators and giving an embedding in this realization.
If $Q$ is a non degenerate quadratic form on ${\bb C}^n$, it is well known that the differential operators $X=Q(x)$, $Y=Q(\partial)$, and $H=E+\frac{n}{2}$, where $E$ is the Euler operator, generate a Lie algebra isomorphic to ${\go sl}_{2}$. Therefore the associative algebra they generate is a quotient of the universal enveloping algebra ${\cal U}({\go sl}_{2})$. This fact is in some sense the foundation of the metaplectic representation. The present paper is devoted to the study of the case where $Q(x)$ is replaced by $Δ_{0}(x)$, where $Δ_{0}(x)$ is the relative invariant of a prehomogeneous…
Let $\mathcal{X} \subset \mathbb{P}_k^d$ be Drinfeld's halfspace over a finite field $k$ and let $\mathcal{E}$ be a homogeneous vector bundle on $\mathbb{P}_k^d$. The paper deals with two different descriptions of the space of global sections $H^0(\mathcal{X},\mathcal{E})$ as $GL_{d+1}(k)$-representation. This is an infinite dimensional modular representation. Here we follow the ideas of \cite{O2,OS} treating the $p$-adic case. As a replacement for the universal enveloping algebra we consider both the crystalline universal enveloping algebra and the ring of differential operators on the flag v…
We define a natural basis for the algebra of $\frak{gosp}(1|2n)$-invariant differential operators on the affine superspace $\mathbb{C}^{1|2n}$. We prove that these operators lie in the image of the centre of the enveloping algebra of $\frak{gosp}(1|2n)$. Using this result, we compute explicit formulas for the eigenvalues of these operators on irreducible summands of $\mathcal{P}(\mathbb{C}^{1|2n})$. This settles the Capelli eigenvalue problem for orthosymplectic Lie superalgebras in the cases that were not addressed in Sahi-Salmasian-Serganova. Our main technique relies on an explicit calculat…
In the present paper we study Gelfand-Tsetlin modules defined in terms of BGG differential operators. The structure of these modules is described with the aid of the Postnikov-Stanley polynomials introduced in [PS09]. These polynomials are used to identify the action of the Gelfand-Tsetlin subalgebra on the BGG operators. We also provide explicit bases of the corresponding Gelfand-Tsetlin modules and prove a simplicity criterion for these modules. The results hold for modules defined over standard Galois orders of type $A$ - a large class of rings that include the universal enveloping algebra …
In this paper we study the growth of the differential identities of some algebras with derivations, i.e., associative algebras where a Lie algebra $L$ (and its universal enveloping algebra $U(L)$) acts on them by derivations. In particular, we study in detail the differential identities and the cocharacter sequences of some algebras whose sequence of differential codimensions has polynomial growth. Moreover, we shall give a complete description of the differential identities of the algebra $UT_2$ of $2\times 2$ upper triangular matrices endowed with all possible action of a Lie algebra by deri…
For a smooth toric variety X over a field of positive characteristic, a T-equivariant étale cover Y \rightarrow T^*X^{(1)} trivializing the sheaf of crystalline differential operators on X is constructed. This trivialization is used to show that the sheaf of differential operators is a trivial Azumaya algebra along the fibers of the moment map. This result is then extended to certain Azumaya algebras on hypertoric varieties, whose global sections are central reductions of the hypertoric enveloping algebra in positive characteristic. A criteria for a derived Beilinson-Bernstein localization the…
We discuss algebraic properties for the symbols of geometric first order differential operators on almost Hermitian manifolds and Kähler manifolds. Through study on the universal enveloping algebra and higher Casimir elements, we know algebraic relations for the symbols like the Clifford algebra. From the relations, we have all the Bochner identities for the operators. As applications, we have vanishing theorems, the Bochner-Weitzenböck formula, and eigenvalue estimates for the operators on Kähler manifolds.
Let G be a connected reductive algebraic group and let G'=[G,G] be its derived subgroup. Let (G,V) be a multiplicity free representation with a one dimensional quotient (see definition below). We prove that the algebra D(V)^{G'} of G'-invariant differential operators with polynomial coefficients on V, is a quotient of a so-called Smith algebra over its center. Over C this class of algebras was introduced by S.P. Smith as a class of algebras similar to the enveloping algebra U(sl(2)) of sl(2). Our result generalizes the case of the Weil representation, where the associative algebra generated by…
The algebra generated by the down and up operators on a differential partially ordered set (poset) encodes essential enumerative and structural properties of the poset. Motivated by the algebras generated by the down and up operators on posets, we introduce here a family of infinite-dimensional associative algebras called down-up algebras. We show that down-up algebras exhibit many of the important features of the universal enveloping algebra $U(\fsl)$ of the Lie algebra $\fsl$ including a Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt type basis and a well-behaved representation theory. We investigate the structure …
In the paper, we further realize the higher rank quantized universal enveloping algebra $U_q(sl_{n+1})$ as certain quantum differential operators in $\mathcal W_q(2n)$ defined over the quantum divided power algebra $\mathcal{A}_q(n)$ of rank $n$. We give the quantum differential operators realization for both the simple root vectors and the non-simple root vectors of $U_q(sl_{n+1})$. The nice behavior of the quantum root vectors formulas under the action of the Lusztig symmetries once again indicates that our realization model is naturally matched.
The present paper contains two interrelated developments. First, are proposed new generalized Verma modules. They are called k-Verma modules, k\in N, and coincide with the usual Verma modules for k=1. As a vector space a k-Verma module is isomorphic to the symmetric tensor product of k copies of the universal enveloping algebra U(g^-), where g^- is the subalgebra of lowering generators in the standard triangular decomposition of a simple Lie algebra g = g^+ \oplus h \oplus g^- . The second development is the proposal of a procedure for the construction of multilinear intertwining differential …
The discussions in the present paper arise from exploring intrinsically the structure nature of the quantum $n$-space. A kind of braided category $\Cal {GB}$ of $\La$-graded $þ$-commutative associative algebras over a field $k$ is established. The quantum divided power algebra over $k$ related to the quantum $n$-space is introduced and described as a braided Hopf algebra in $\Cal {GB}$ (in terms of its 2-cocycle structure), over which the so called special $q$-derivatives are defined so that several new interesting quantum groups, especially, the quantized polynomial algebra in $n$ variables (…
One of the algebraic structures that has emerged recently in the study of the operator product expansions of chiral fields in conformal field theory is that of a Lie conformal algebra. A Lie pseudoalgebra is a generalization of the notion of a Lie conformal algebra for which C[\partial] is replaced by the universal enveloping algebra H of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra. The finite (i.e., finitely generated over H) simple Lie pseudoalgebras were classified in our previous work. The present paper is the second in our series on representation theory of simple Lie pseudoalgebras. In the first pa…
In a previous paper we introduced the notion of a D-Lie algebra $\tilde{L}$. A D-Lie algebra $\tilde{L}$ is an $A/k$-Lie-Rinehart algebra with a right $A$-module structure and a canonical central element $D$ satisfying several conditions. We used this notion to define the universal enveloping algebra of the category of $\tilde{L}$-connections and to define the cohomology and homology of an arbitrary connection. In this note we introduce the canonical quotient $L$ of a D-Lie algebra $\tilde{L}$ and use this to classify D-Lie algebras where $L$ is projective as $A$-module. We define for any 2-co…
Lichnerowicz's algebra of differential geometric operators acting on symmetric tensors can be obtained from generalized geodesic motion of an observer carrying a complex tangent vector. This relation is based upon quantizing the classical evolution equations, and identifying wavefunctions with sections of the symmetric tensor bundle and Noether charges with geometric operators. In general curved spaces these operators obey a deformation of the Fourier-Jacobi Lie algebra of sp(2,R). These results have already been generalized by the authors to arbitrary tensor and spinor bundles using supersymm…
