We introduce a model for Hermitian holormorphic Deligne cohomology on a projective algebraic manifold which allows to incorporate singular hermitian structures along a normal crossing divisor. In the case of a projective curve, the cup-product in cohomology is shown to correspond to a generalization of the Deligne pairing to line bundles with "good" hermitian metrics in the sense of Mumford and others. A particular case is that of the tangent bundle of the curve twisted by the negative of the singularity divisor of a hyperbolic metric: its cup square (corrected by the total area) is shown to be a functional whose extrema are the metrics of constant negative curvature.
We study the holomorphic sections of the Deligne-Hitchin moduli space of a compact Riemann surface that are invariant under the natural anti-holomorphic involutions of the moduli space. Their relationships with the harmonic maps are established. As a bi-product, a question of Simpson on such sections, posed in \cite{Si2}, is answered.
We study the Harvey-Lawson spark characters of level p on complex manifolds. Presenting Deligne cohomology classes by sparks of level $p$, we give an explicit analytic product formula for Deligne cohomology. We also define refined Chern classes in Deligne cohomology for holomorphic vector bundles over complex manifolds. Applications to algebraic cycles are given. A Bott-type vanishing theorem in Deligne cohomology for holomorphic foliations is established. A general construction of Nadel-type invariants is given together with a new proof of Nadel's conjecture.
In this short note we want to give a definition of a generalized Deligne pairing for modules over an Azumaya algebra on an arithmetic surface $X$. We do this by defining Hermitian metrics on the Azumaya algebra and on the modules in question. Then we go on and define the determinant of the cohomology for a pair of modules over an Azumaya algebra. Using this we give the definition of a generalized Deligne pairing and study some of its properties.
We calculate curvature tensors of metrics on the total spaces of holomorphic fibrations. Our main tool is a theory of Chern connections and curvature forms for possibly degenerate Hermitian forms on holomorphic vector bundles. We prove a version of the Codazzi-Griffiths equations for curvatures of sub- and quotient bundles in that setting and apply them to the study of honest Hermitian metrics on fibrations. We apply this to calculate the curvature of a metric on Grassmannian bundles and prove they have positive holomorphic sectional curvature if the base does.
We establish the equidistribution of zeros of random holomorphic sections of powers of a semipositive singular Hermitian line bundle, with an estimate of the convergence speed.
Let $X\rightarrow S$ be a smooth projective surjective morphism of relative dimension $n$, where $X$ and $S$ are integral schemes over $\mathbb C$. Let $L\rightarrow X$ be a relatively very ample line bundle. For every sufficiently large positive integer $m$, there is a canonical isomorphism of the Deligne pairing $\langle L ,\cdots , L\rangle\rightarrow S$ with the determinant line bundle ${\rm Det}((L- {\mathcal O}_{X})^{\otimes (n+1)}\otimes L^{\otimes m})$ \cite{PRS}. If we fix a hermitian structure on $L$ and a relative Kähler form on $X$, then each of the line bundles ${\rm Det}((L- {\ma…
The main result of this note essentially is that if the base and fibers of a compact fibration carry Hermitian metrics of positive holomorphic sectional curvature, then so does the total space of the fibration. The proof is based on the use of a warped product metric as in the work by Cheung in case of negative holomorphic sectional curvature, but differs in certain key aspects, e.g., in that it does not use the subadditivity property for holomorphic sectional curvature due to Grauert-Reckziegel and Wu.
Let $M$ be an irreducible smooth complex projective variety equipped with an action of a compact Lie group $G$, and let $({\mathcal L},h)$ be a $G$-equivariant holomorphic Hermitian line bundle on $M$. Given a compact connected Riemann surface $X$, we construct a $G$-equivariant holomorphic Hermitian line bundle $(L\,,H)$ on $X\times M$ (the action of $G$ on $X$ is trivial), such that the corresponding Quillen determinant line bundle $({\mathcal Q}, h_Q)$, which is a $G$--equivariant holomorphic Hermitian line bundle on $M$, is isomorphic to the given $G$--equivariant holomorphic Hermitian lin…
In this paper we study holomorphic vector bundles with singular Hermitian metrics whose curvature are Hermitian matrix currents. We obtain an extension theorem for holomorphic jet sections of nef holomorphic vector bundle on compact Kähler manifolds. Using it we prove that Fano manifolds with strong Griffiths nef tangent bundles are rational homogeneous spaces.
Let X be a hermitian manifold and let L^k be a high power of a hermitian line bundle over X. Local versions of Demailly's holomorphic Morse inequalities are presented - after integration they yield the usual inequalities. The local weak inequalities hold on any hermitian manifold X, regardless of compactness and completeness. The proofs, which are elementary, are based on a new approach to pointwise Bergman kernel estimates, where the kernels are estimated by a model kernel in the standard complex space C^n.
It is well known that degree two Deligne cohomology groups can be identified with groups of isomorphism classes of holomorphic line bundles with connections. There is also a geometric description of degree three Deligne cohomology, due to J-L. Brylinski and P. Deligne, in terms of gerbes with connective structures and curvings. This paper gives a geometric interpretation of Deligne cohomology of all degrees, in terms of equivalence classes of higher line bundles with $k$-connections. It is also shown that the classical Abel-Jacobi isomorphism $Pic^0(X) \cong J(X)$ generalizes to the isomorphis…
We construct new covers of the Suzuki and Ree curves which are maximal with respect to the Hasse-Weil bound over suitable finite fields. These covers are analogues of the Giulietti-Korchmáros curve, which covers the Hermitian curve and is maximal over a base field extension. We show that the maximality of these curves implies that of certain ray class field extensions of each of the Deligne-Lusztig curves. Moreover, we show that the Giulietti-Korchmáros curve is equal to the above-mentioned ray class field extension of the Hermitian curve.
We observe that the line bundle associated to the tame symbol of two invertible holomorphic functions also carries a fairly canonical hermitian metric, hence it represents a class in a Hermitian holomorphic Deligne cohomology group. We put forward an alternative definition of hermitian holomorphic structure on a gerbe which is closer to the familiar one for line bundles and does not rely on an explicit ``reduction of the structure group.'' Analogously to the case of holomorphic line bundles, a uniqueness property for the connective structure compatible with the hermitian-holomorphic structure …
Let $(X,ω)$ be a Hermitian manifold and let $(E,h^E)$, $(F,h^F)$ be two Hermitian holomorphic line bundle over $X$. Suppose that the maximal rank of the Chern curvature $c(E)$ of $E$ is $r$, and the kernel of $c(E)$ is foliated, i.e. there is a foliation $Y$ of $X$, of complex codimension $r$, such that the tangent space of the leaf at each point $x\in X$ is contained in the kernel of $c(E)$. In this paper, local versions of Demailly-Bouche's holomorphic Morse inequalities (which give asymptotic bounds for cohomology groups $H^{q}(X,E^k\otimes F^l)$ as $k,l,k/l\rightarrow \infty$) are presente…
We investigate singular Hermitian metrics on vector bundles, especially strictly Griffiths positive ones. $L^2$ esitimates and vanishing theorems usually require an assumption that vector bundles are Nakano positive. However there is no general definition of the Nakano positivity in singular settings. In this paper, we show various $L^2$ estimates and vanishing theromes by assuming that the vector bundle is strictly Griffiths positive and the base manifold is projective.
We study a singular Hermitian metric of a vector bundle. First, we prove the sheaf of locally square integrable holomorphic sections of a vector bundle with a singular Hermitian metric, which is a higher rank analogy of a multiplier ideal sheaf, is coherent under some assumptions. Second, we prove a Nadel-Nakano type vanishing theorem of a vector bundle with a singular Hermitian metric. We do not use an approximation technique of a singular Hermitian metric. We apply these theorems to a singular Hermitian metric induced by holomorphic sections and a big vector bundle, and we obtain a generaliz…
We show that real Deligne cohomology of a complex manifold arises locally as a topological vector space completion of the analytic Lie groupoid of holomorphic vector bundles. Thus Beilinson's regulator arises naturally as a comparison map between $K$-theory groups of different types.
We show in this article that if a holomorphic vector bundle has a nonnegative Hermitian metric in the sense of Bott and Chern, which always exists on globally generated holomorphic vector bundles, then some special linear combinations of Chern forms are strongly nonnegative. This particularly implies that all the Chern numbers of such a holomorphic vector bundle are nonnegative and can be bounded below and above respectively by two special Chern numbers. As applications, we obtain a family of new results on compact connected complex manifolds which are homogeneous or can be holomorphically imm…
We prove a very general Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence on arbitrary compact Hermitian manifolds. This correspondence refers to moduli spaces of "universal holomorphic oriented pairs". Most of the classical moduli problems in complex geometry (e. g. holomorphic bundles with reductive structure groups, holomorphic pairs, holomorphic Higgs pairs, Witten triples, arbitrary quiver moduli problems) are special cases of this universal classification problem. Our Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence relates the complex geometric concept "polystable oriented holomorphic pair" to the existence of a reduct…
By using analytic method, we prove that there exist rational curves on compact Hermitian manifolds with positive holomorphic bisectional curvature. It confirms a question of S.-T. Yau. It is well-known that Mori proved in \cite{Mori79} that every compact complex manifold $N$ with $c_1(N)>0$ contains at least one rational curve. However, as a borderline example, we show that the standard Hopf surface $S^1\times S^3$ has a Hermitian metric with non-negative holomorphic bisectional curvature (in particular, $c_1(S^1\times S^3)\geq 0$), but it contains no rational curve.
Let $(X, ω)$ be a weakly pseudoconvex Kähler manifold, $Y \subset X$ a closed submanifold defined by some holomorphic section of a vector bundle over $X,$ and $L$ a Hermitian line bundle satisfying certain positivity conditions. We prove that for any integer $k\geq 0,$ any section of the jet sheaf $L\otimes {\cal O}_X/{\cal I}_Y^{k+1},$ which satisfies a certain $L^2$ condition, can be extended into a global holomorphic section of $L$ over $X$ whose $L^2$ growth on an arbitrary compact subset of $X$ is under control. In particular, if $Y$ is merely a point, this gives the existence of a global…
In this paper, we prove that the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch formula in Deligne cohomology computing the determinant of the cohomology of a holomorphic vector bundle on the fibers of a proper submersion between abstract complex manifolds is invariant by deformation of the bundle.
In this paper, we introduce the notions of $α$-Hermitian-Einstein metric and $α$-stability for $I_\pm$-holomorphic vector bundles on bi-Hermitian manifolds. Moreover, we establish a Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence for $I_\pm$-holomorphic vector bundles on bi-Hermitian manifolds. Examples of such vector bundles include generalized holomorphic bundles on generalized Kähler manifolds. We also show that $α$-stability of a vector bundle, in this sense, can depend on the parameter $α$.
In this article, we propose a definition of Nakano semi-positivity of singular Hermitian metrics on holomorphic vector bundles. By using this positivity notion, we establish $L^2$-estimates for holomorphic vector bundles with Nakano positive singular Hermitian metrics. We also show vanishing theorems, which generalize both Nakano type and Demailly-Nadel type vanishing theorems. As applications, we specifically construct globally Nakano semi-positive singular Hermitian metrics for several bundles, and prove vanishing theorems associated with them.
Metrics of constant negative curvature on a compact Riemann surface are critical points of the Liouville action functional, which in recent constructions is rigorously defined as a class in a Cech-de Rham complex with respect to a suitable covering of the surface. We show that this class is the square of the metrized holomorphic tangent bundle in hermitian-holomorphic Deligne cohomology. We achieve this by introducing a different version of the hermitian-holomorphic Deligne complex which is nevertheless quasi-isomorphic to the one introduced by Brylinski in his construction of Quillen line bun…
Let $E$ be a holomorphic vector bundle endowed with a singular Hermitian metric $H$. In this paper, we develop the harmonic theory on $(E,H)$. Then we extend several canonical results of J. Kollár and K. Takegoshi to this situation. In the end, we generalise Nakano's vanishing theorem.
This thesis studies the symplectic structure of holomorphic coadjoint orbits, and their projections. A holomorphic coadjoint orbit O is an elliptic coadjoint orbit which is endowed with a natural invariant Kählerian structure. These coadjoint orbits are defined for a real semi-simple connected non-compact Lie group G with finite center, such that G/K is a Hermitian symmetric space, where K is a maximal compact subgroup of G. Holomorphic coadjoint orbits are a generalization of the Hermitian symmetric space G/K. In this thesis, we prove that the McDuff's symplectomorphism on Hermitian symmetric…
In the previous paper \cite{Goto_2017}, the notion of an Einstein-Hermitian metric of a generalized holomorphic vector bundle over a generalized Kahler manifold of symplectic type was introduced from the moment map framework. In this paper we establish a Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence, that is, the equivalence of the existence of an Einstein-Hermitian metric and $ψ$-polystability of a generalized holomorphic vector bundle over a compact generalized Kahler manifold of symplectic type. Poisson modules provide intriguing generalized holomorphic vector bundles and we obtain $ψ$-stable Poisson mo…
We study the sheaf of locally square integrable holomorphic section of vector bundle with semi-positive curved singular Hermitian metric. We confirm the coherence when its induced determinant metric has analytic singularities.
Let M be a compact irreducible Hermitian symmetric space and write M=G/K, with G the group of holomorphic isometries of M and K the stability group of the point of 0 in M. We determine the maximal dimension of a complex projective space embedded in M as a totally geodesic submanifold.
The mirror of a projective toric manifold $X_Σ$ is given by a Landau-Ginzburg model $(Y,W)$. We introduce a class of Lagrangian submanifolds in $(Y,W)$ and show that, under the SYZ mirror transformation, they can be transformed to torus-invariant hermitian metrics on holomorphic line bundles over $X_Σ$. Through this geometric correspondence, we also identify the mirrors of Hermitian-Einstein metrics, which are given by distinguished Lagrangian sections whose potentials satisfy certain Laplace-type equations.
In this paper we consider unramified coverings of the moduli space $\mathcal{M}_g$ of smooth projective complex curves of genus $g$. Under some hypothesis on the branch locus of the finite extended map to the Deligne-Mumford compactification, we prove the vanishing of the vector space of holomorphic 1-forms on the preimage of the smooth locus of $\mathcal{M}_g$. This applies to several moduli spaces, as the moduli space of curves with 2-level structures, of spin curves and of Prym curves. In particular, we obtain that there are no non-trivial holomorphic 1-forms on the smooth open set of the P…
We exhibit a transformation taking special Lagrangian submanifolds of a Calabi-Yau together with local systems to vector bundles over the mirror manifold with connections obeying deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills equations. That is, the transformation relates supersymmetric A- and B-cycles. In this paper, we assume that the mirror pair are dual torus fibrations with flat tori and that the A-cycle is a section. We also show that this transformation preserves the (holomorphic) Chern-Simons functional for all connections. Furthermore, on corresponding moduli spaces of supersymmetric cycles it identif…
Unstable holomorphic bundles can be described algebraically by Harder-Narasimhan filtrations. In this note we show how such filtrations correspond to the existence of special metrics defined by Hermitian-Einstein inequalities.
In the moduli space M_g of genus g Riemann surfaces, consider the locus RM_O of Riemann surfaces whose Jacobians have real multiplication by the order O in a totally real number field F of degree g. If g = 2 or 3, we compute the closure of RM_O in the Deligne-Mumford compactification of M_g and the closure of the locus of eigenforms over RM_O in the Deligne-Mumford compactification of the moduli space of holomorphic one-forms. For higher genera, we give strong necessary conditions for a stable curve to be in the boundary of RM_O Boundary strata of RM_O are parameterized by configurations of el…
Recently, Skabelund defined new maximal curves which are cyclic extensions of the Suzuki and Ree curves. Previously, the now well-known GK curves were found as cyclic extensions of the Hermitian curve. In this paper, we consider locally recoverable codes constructed from these new curves, complementing that done for the GK curve. Locally recoverable codes allow for the recovery of a single symbol by accessing only a few others which form what is known as a recovery set. If every symbol has at least two disjoint recovery sets, the code is said to have availability. Three constructions are descr…
We introduce equations for special metrics, and notions of stability for some new types of augmented holomorphic bundles. These new examples include holomorphic extensions, and in this case we prove a Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence between a certain deformation of the Hermitian-Einstein equations and our definition of stability for an extension.
