It is observed that for complex surfaces, the positivity of the Ricci curvature is preserved by the Kähler-Ricci flow, under the additional assumption that the sum of the two lowest eigenvalues of the traceless curvature operator is non-negative.
Let $M^n$ be a compact K$\ddot{a}$hler manifold with almost nonnegative Ricci curvature and nonzero first Betti number. We show that the holomorphic Euler number of $M^n$ vanishes, which gives a new obstruction for compact complex manifolds admitting K$\ddot{a}$hler metrics with almost nonnegative Ricci curvature. A crucial step in the proof is to show a vanishing theorem of Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology.
We develop a parabolic pluripotential theory on compact K{ä}hler manifolds, defining and studying weak solutions to degenerate parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations. We provide a parabolic analogue of the celebrated Bedford-Taylor theory and apply it to the study of the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow on varieties with log terminal singularities.
For any complete noncompact K$\ddot{a}$hler manifold with nonnegative and bounded holomorphic bisectional curvature,we provide the necessary and sufficient condition for non-ancient solution to the Ricci flow in this paper.
We establish a stability result for elliptic and parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations on compact K{ä}hler manifolds, which applies in particular to the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow. Dedicated to Jean-Pierre Demailly on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
By establishing two general quadratic inequalities, we obtain some inequalities related to Ricci curvatures for Lagrangian submanifolds of K$\ddot{\mathrm{a}}$hler QCH-manifolds, which generalize some results for Lagrangian submanifolds of complex space forms.
We study pluripotential complex Monge-Ampère flows in big cohomology classes on compact K{ä}hler manifolds. We use the Perron method, considering pluripotential subsolutions to the Cauchy problem. We prove that, under natural assumptions on the data, the upper envelope of all subsolutions is continuous in space and semi-concave in time, and provides a unique pluripotential solution with such regularity. We apply this theory to study pluripotential K{ä}hler-Ricci flows on compact K{ä}hler manifolds of general type as well as on stable varieties.
Let $(M^3,g_0)$ be a complete noncompact Riemannian 3-manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature and with injectivity radius bounded away from zero. Suppose that the scalar curvature $R(x)\to 0$ as $x\to \infty$. Then the Ricci flow with initial data $(M^3,g_0)$ has a long time solution. This extends a recent result of Ma and Zhu. We also have a higher dimensional version, and we reprove a K$\ddot{a}$hler analogy due to Chau, Tam and Yu.
We prove local well-posedness of the Schrödinger flow from $R^n$ into a compact K\{"a}hler manifold $N$ with initial data in $H^{s+1}(R^n, N)$ for $s\geq n/2+4$.
We prove that a compact stratied space satises the Riemannian curvature-dimension condition RCD(K, N) if and only if its Ricci tensor is bounded below by K $\in$ R on the regular set, the cone angle along the stratum of codimension two is smaller than or equal to 2$π$ and its dimension is at most equal to N. This gives a new wide class of geometric examples of metric measure spaces satisfying the RCD(K, N) curvature-dimension condition, including for instance spherical suspensions, orbifolds, K{ä}hler-Einstein manifolds with a divisor, Einstein manifolds with conical singularities along a curv…
We develop the first steps of a parabolic pluripotential theory in bounded strongly pseudo-convex domains of Cn. We study certain degenerate parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations, modelled on the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow evolving on complex algebraic varieties with Kawamata log-terminal singularities. Under natural assumptions on the Cauchy-Dirichlet boundary data, we show that the envelope of pluripotential subsolutions is semi-concave in time and continuous in space, and provides the unique pluripotential solution with such regularity.
In this second part of a series of papers on the long-time behavior of Ricci flows with surgery, we establish a bound on the evolution of the infimal area of simplicial complexes inside a 3-manifold under the Ricci flow. This estimate generalizes an area estimate of Hamilton, which we will recall in the first part of the paper. We remark that in this paper we will mostly be dealing with non-singular Ricci flows. The existence of surgeries will not play an important role.
In this paper, we study how to get the Ricci expanders from W+-functional through the heat kernel estimate of the conjugate heat equation to the type III singularity of Ricci flow. The Gaussian upper and lower bounds are established for the related heat kernel in accordance to the interesting work of Cao-Zhang for the type I Rici flow.
We deal with minimal surfaces in spheres that are locally isometric to a pseudoholomorphic curve in a totally geodesic $\mathbb{S}^{5}$ in the nearly K{ä}hler sphere $\mathbb{S}^6$. Being locally isometric to a pseudoholomorphic curve in $\mathbb{S}^5$ turns out to be equivalent to the Ricci-like condition $Δ\log(1-K)=6K,$ where $K$ is the Gaussian curvature of the induced metric. Besides flat minimal surfaces in spheres, direct sums of surfaces in the associated family of pseudoholomorphic curves in $\mathbb{S}^5$ do satisfy this Ricci-like condition. Surfaces in both classes are exceptional …
We give a complete description of the global existence and convergence for the Ricci-Yang-Mills flow on $T^k$ bundles over Riemann surfaces. These results equivalently describe solutions to generalized Ricci flow and pluriclosed flow with symmetry.
On a smooth closed Riemannian manifold, we show short time existence of smooth solutions to the $(α,β)$-Ricci-Yamabe flow, which is a natural generalization of the Ricci flow and the Yamabe flow. We also establish some long time existence theorems for the closed $(α,β)$-Ricci-Yamabe flow by estimating its curvatures.
We prove that if an ALE Ricci-flat manifold $(M,g)$ is linearly stable and integrable, it is dynamically stable under Ricci flow, i.e. any Ricci flow starting close to g exists for all time and converges modulo diffeomorphism to an ALE Ricci-flat metric close to $g$. By adapting Tian's approach in the closed case, we show that integrability holds for ALE Calabi-Yau manifolds which implies that they are dynamically stable.
We consider a generalized Ricci flow with a given (not necessarily closed) three-form and establish the higher derivatives estimates for compact manifolds. As an application, we prove the compactness theorem for this generalized Ricci flow. The similar results still hold for a more generalized Ricci flow.
Given a solution of the (backwards) Ricci flow one can construct a so called canonical soliton metric on space-time, introduced by E. Cabezas-Rivas and P. Topping. We observe that for a mean curvature flow within a (backwards) Ricci flow background, the space-time track of the mean curvature flow yields a canonical soliton of the coupled flow within the canonical Ricci soliton. We show that this provides a link between Hamilton's differential Harnack estimate for the mean curvature flow and Hamilton's differential Harnack estimate for the Ricci flow. Moreover the second fundamental form of our…
We prove that the Ricci flow that contracts a hyperbolic cusp has curvature decay like one over time squared. In order to do this, we prove a new Li-Yau type differential Harnack inequality for Ricci flow on surfaces.
We prove the convergence of Kähler-Ricci flow with some small initial curvature conditions. As applications, we discuss the convergence of Kähler-Ricci flow when the complex structure varies on a Kähler-Einstein manifold.
In this paper we study the long time existence of the Ricci-harmonic flow in terms of scalar curvature and Weyl tensor which extends Cao's result \cite{Cao2011} in the Ricci flow. In dimension four, we also study the integral bound of the "Riemann curvature" for the Ricci-harmonic flow generalizing a recently result of Simon \cite{Simon2015}.
In previous work, Angenent, Isenberg, and Knopf created type-II Ricci flow neckpinch singularities. In this paper we construct solutions to Ricci flow whose initial data is the singular metric resulting from these singularities. We show in particular that the curvature decreases at the same rate at which it blew up. This is the first example of Ricci flow starting from a type-II singularity.
In this note, we prove that on an $n$-dimensional compact toric manifold with positive first Chern class, the Kähler-Ricci flow with any initial $(S^1)^n$-invariant Kähler metric converges to a Kähler-Ricci soliton. In particular, we give another proof for the existence of Kähler-Ricci solitons on a compact toric manifold with positive first Chern class by using the Kähler-Ricci flow.
We study the generalized Kähler-Ricci flow on complex surfaces with nondegenerate Poisson structure, proving long time existence and convergence of the flow to a weak hyperKähler structure.
An important and natural question in the analysis of Ricci flow singularity formation in dimensions four and above is as follows: What are the weakest conditions that provide control of the norm of the Riemann curvature tensor? In this short note, we show that on a compact manifold, the trace-free Ricci tensor is controlled in a precise fashion by the other components of the irreducible decomposition of the curvature tensor, without any hypotheses on the initial data.
We show a connection between the linear trace Li-Yau-Hamilton inequality for the Kaehler-Ricci flow and the monotonicity formula for the positive currents. As an application of the linear trace Li-Yau-Hamilton stated in this paper and the one proved by Chow-Hamiltonm, we give another proof on the classification of the limit solutions of the Kaehler-Ricci (Ricci) flow.
In this paper, we give a sufficient condition such that the Ricci flow in $R^2$ exists globally and the flow converges at $t=\infty$ to the flat metric on $R^2$.
We compute the evolution equation of the Weyl tensor under the Ricci flow of a Riemannian manifold and we discuss some consequences for the classification of locally conformally flat Ricci solitons.
We show that every complete entire self-shrinking solution on complex Euclidean space to the Kahler-Ricci flow must be generated from a quadratic potential.
In this paper, by limiting twisted conical Kähler-Ricci flows, we prove the long-time existence and uniqueness of cusp Kähler-Ricci flow on compact Kähler manifold $M$ which carries a smooth hypersurface $D$ such that the twisted canonical bundle $K_M+D$ is ample. Furthermore, we prove that this flow converge to a unique cusp Kähler-Einstein metric.
We study some asymptotic behavior of the first nonzero eigenvalue of the Lalacian along the normalized Ricci flow and give a direct short proof for an asymptotic upper limit estimate.
We study the Ricci flow for initial metrics which are C^0 small perturbations of the Euclidean metric on R^n. In the case that this metric is asymptotically Euclidean, we show that a Ricci harmonic map heat flow exists for all times, and converges uniformly to the Euclidean metric as time approaches infinity. In proving this stability result, we introduce a monotone integral quantity which measures the deviation of the evolving metric from the Euclidean metric. We also investigate the convergence of the diffeomorphisms relating Ricci harmonic map heat flow to Ricci flow.
We introduce certain spherically symmetric singular Ricci solitons and study their stability under the Ricci flow from a dynamical PDE point of view. The solitons in question exist for all dimensions $n+1\ge 3$, and all have a point singularity where the curvature blows up; their evolution under the Ricci flow is in sharp contrast to the evolution of their smooth counterparts. In particular, the family of diffeomorphisms associated with the Ricci flow "pushes away" from the singularity causing the evolving soliton to open up immediately becoming an incomplete (but non-singular) metric. In the …
In this paper, we prove that Kähler-Ricci flow converges to a Kähler-Einstein metric (or a Kähler-Ricci soliton) in the sense of Cheeger-Gromov as long as an initial Kähler metric is very closed to $g_{KE}$ (or $g_{KS}$) if a compact Kähler manifold with $c_1(M)>0$ admits a Kähler Einstein metric $g_{KE}$ (or a Kähler-Ricci soliton $g_{KS}$). The result improves Main Theorem in [TZ3] in the sense of stability of Kähler-Ricci flow.
In this paper, we study the discrete Morse flow for the Ricci flow on football, which is the 2-sphere with removed north and south poles and with the metric $g_0$ of constant scalar curvature, and and for Porous media equation on a bounded regular domain in the plane. We show that with a suitable assumption about $g(0)$ we have a weak approximated discrete Morse flow for the approximated Ricci flow and Porous media equation on any time intervals.
In this paper, we give the first detailed proof of the short-time existence of Deane Yang's local Ricci flow. Then using the local Ricci flow, we prove short-time existence of the Ricci flow on noncompact manifolds, whose Ricci curvature has global lower bound and sectional curvature has only local average integral bound. The short-time existence of the Ricci flow on noncompact manifolds with bounded curvature was studied by Wan-Xiong Shi in 1990s. As a corollary of our main theorem, we get the short-time existence part of Shi's theorem in this more general context.
We use Ricci flow to obtain a local bi-Holder correspondence between Ricci limit spaces in three dimensions and smooth manifolds. This is more than a complete resolution of the three-dimensional case of the conjecture of Anderson-Cheeger-Colding-Tian, describing how Ricci limit spaces in three dimensions must be homeomorphic to manifolds, and we obtain this in the most general, locally non-collapsed case. The proofs build on results and ideas from recent papers of Hochard and the current authors.
We prove that a Ricci flow cannot develop a finite time singularity assuming the boundedness of a suitable space-time integral norm of the curvature tensor. Moreover, the extensibility of the flow is proved under a Ricci lower bound and the boundedness of a space-time integral norm of the scalar curvature.
In this paper, we construct smooth forward Ricci flow evolutions of singular initial metrics resulting from rotationally symmetric neckpinches on S^(n+1), without performing an intervening surgery. In the restrictive context of rotational symmetry, this construction gives evidence in favor of Perelman's hope for a "canonically defined Ricci flow through singularities".
We introduce a flow of Kähler structures over Fano manifolds with formal limit at infinite time a Kähler-Ricci soliton. This flow correspond to a Perelman's modified backward Kähler-Ricci type flow that we call Soliton-Kähler-Ricci flow. It can be generated by the Soliton-Ricci flow. We assume that the Soliton-Ricci flow exists for all times and the Bakry-Emery-Ricci tensor preserve a positive uniform lower bound with respect to the evolving metric. In this case we show that the corresponding Soliton-Kähler-Ricci flow converges exponentially fast to a Kähler-Ricci soliton.
We introduce a flow of Riemannian metrics over compact manifolds with formal limit at infinite time a shrinking Ricci soliton. We call this flow the Soliton-Ricci flow. It correspond to a Perelman's modified backward Ricci type flow with some special restriction conditions. The restriction conditions are motivated by convexity results for Perelman's $\mathcal{W}$-functional over convex subsets inside adequate subspaces of Riemannian metrics. We show indeed that the Soliton-Ricci flow is generated by the gradient flow of the restriction of Perelman's $\mathcal{W}$-functional over such subspaces…
We improve the understanding of both finite time and infinite time singularities of the modified Kähler-Ricci flow as initiated by the second author of this paper in [26]. This is done by relating the modified Kähler-Ricci flow with the recent studies on the classic Kähler-Ricci flow and the degenerate complex Monge-Ampère equation.
We extend the concept of singular Ricci flow by Kleiner and Lott from 3d compact manifolds to 3d complete manifolds with possibly unbounded curvature. As an application of the generalized singular Ricci flow, we show that for any 3d complete Riemannian manifold with non-negative Ricci curvature, there exists a smooth Ricci flow starting from it.
In this paper we establish stability of the Ricci de Turck flow near Ricci-flat metrics with isolated conical singularities. More precisely, we construct a Ricci de Turck flow which starts sufficiently close to a Ricci-flat metric with isolated conical singularities and converges to a singular Ricci-flat metric under an assumption of integrability, linear and tangential stability. We provide a characterization of conical singularities satisfying tangential stability and discuss examples where the integrability condition is satisfied.
In this article, we study the Ricci flow neckpinch in the context of metric measure spaces. We introduce the notion of a Ricci flow metric measure spacetime and of a weak (refined) super Ricci flow associated to convex cost functions (cost functions which are increasing convex functions of the distance function). Our definition of a weak super Ricci flow is based on the coupled contraction property for suitably defined diffusions on maximal diffusion components. In our main theorem, we show that if a non-degenerate spherical neckpinch can be continued beyond the singular time by a smooth forwa…
Huisken studied asymptotic behavior of a mean curvature flow in a Euclidean space when it develops a singularity of type I, and proved that its rescaled flow converges to a self-shrinker in the Euclidean space. In this paper, we generalize this result for a Ricci-mean curvature flow moving along a Ricci flow constructed from a gradient shrinking Ricci soliton.
In the paper, we study evolution equations of the scalar and Ricci curvatures under the Hamilton's Ricci flow on a closed manifold and on a complete noncompact manifold. In particular, we study conditions when the Ricci flow is trivial and the Ricci soliton is Ricci flat or Einstein.
