We study the asymptotics of large, moderate and normal deviations for the connected components of the sparse random graph by the method of stochastic processes. We obtain the logarithmic asymptotics of large deviations of the joint distribution of the number of connected components, of the sizes of the giant components, and of the numbers of the excess edges of the giant components. For the supercritical case, we obtain the asymptotics of normal deviations and the logarithmic asymptotics of large and moderate deviations of the joint distribution of the number of components, of the size of the largest component, and of the number of the excess edges of the largest component. For the critical case, we obtain the logarithmic asymptotics of moderate deviations of the joint distribution of the sizes of connected components and of the numbers of the excess edges. Some related asymptotics are also established. The proofs of the large and moderate deviation asymptotics employ methods of idempotent probability theory. As a byproduct of the results, we provide some additional insight into the nature of phase transitions in sparse random graphs.
A stochastic calculus is given for processes described by stochastic integrals with respect to fractional Brownian motions and Rosenblatt processes somewhat analogous to the stochastic calculus for Itô processes. These processes for this stochastic calculus arise naturally from a stochastic chain rule for functionals of Rosenblatt processes; and some Itô-type expressions are given here. Furthermore, there is some analysis of these results for their applications to problems using Rosenblatt noise.
We generalize the notion of the submartingale property and Doob's inequality. Furthermore, we show how the latter leads to new inequalities for several stochastic processes: certain time series, Levy processes, random walks, processes with independent increments, branching processes and continuous state branching processes, branching diffusions and superdiffusions, as well as some Markov processes, including geometric Brownian motion.
We prove an existence and uniqueness result for generalized backward doubly stochastic differential equations driven by Lévy processes with non-Lipschitz assumptions.
We introduce and summarise results from the recent paper `Scaling limits of stochastic processes associated with resistance forms', and also applications from `Time-changes of stochastic processes associated with resistance forms', which was written jointly with T.\ Kumagai (Kyoto University) and B.~M.~Hambly (University of Oxford).
In this note we prove the well-posedness for stochastic 2D Navier-Stokes equation driven by general Lévy processes (in particular, $α$-stable processes), and obtain the existence of invariant measures.
We construct the basis of a stochastic calculus for so-called Volterra processes, i.e., processes which are defined as the stochastic integral of a time-dependent kernel with respect to a standard Brownian motion. For these processes which are natural generalization of fractional Brownian motion, we construct a stochastic integral and show some of its main properties: regularity with respect to time and kernel, transformation under an absolutely continuous change of probability, possible approximation schemes and Ito formula.
We study systems of simple point processes that admit stochastic intensities. We represent these point processes as thinnings of Poisson measures and are interested in a convergence result of such systems. This result states that, if the stochastic intensities of the limit point processes are independent of the underlying Poisson measures, the convergence in distribution in Skorohod topology of the stochastic intensities implies the same convergence for the point processes.
This paper generalizes the notion of stochastic order to a relation between probability measures over arbitrary measurable spaces. This generalization is motivated by the observation that for the stochastic ordering of two stationary Markov processes, it suffices that the generators of the processes preserve some, not necessarily reflexive or transitive, subrelation of the order relation. The main contributions of the paper are: a functional characterization of stochastic relations, necessary and sufficient conditions for the preservation of stochastic relations, and an algorithm for finding s…
We extend the result of Nualart and Schoutens on chaotic decomposition of the $L^2$-space of a Lévy process to the case of a generalized stochastic processes with independent values.
We consider Markov processes of cubic stochastic (in a fixed sense) matrices which are also called quadratic stochastic process (QSPs). A QSP is a particular case of a continuous-time dynamical system whose states are stochastic cubic matrices satisfying an analogue of the Kolmogorov-Chapman equation (KCE). Since there are several kinds of multiplications between cubic matrices we have to fix first a multiplication and then consider the KCE with respect to the fixed multiplication. Moreover, the notion of stochastic cubic matrix also varies depending on the real models of application. The exis…
In this paper we give an $L_p$-theory for stochastic parabolic equations with random fractional Laplacian operator. The driving noises are general Lévy processes.
We give constructions of age-structured branching processes without or with immigration as pathwise unique solutions to stochastic integral equations. A necessary and sufficient condition for the ergodicity of the model with immigration is also given.
We suggest to investigate certain non-standard (pseudo-)differential operators in order to construct and to study multi-parameter processes. Our approach will include "classical" multi-parameter Markov processes but will go eventually far beyond.
We propose to study a new type of Backward stochastic differential equations driven by a family of Itô's processes. We prove existence and uniqueness of the solution, and investigate stability and comparison theorem.
We present here an elementary example, for every fixed positive integer $k,$ of a strictly stationary nongaussian stochastic process in discrete time, all of whose $k$-marginals are gaussian.
We describe stochastic calculus in the context of processes that are driven by an adapted point process of locally finite intensity and are differentiable between jumps. This includes Markov chains as well as non-Markov processes. By analogy with Itô processes we define the drift and diffusivity, which we then use to describe a general sample path estimate. We then give several examples, including ODE approximation, processes with linear drift, first passage times, and an application to the stochastic logistic model.
Dilative semistability extends the notion of semi-selfsimilarity for infinitely divisible stochastic processes by introducing an additional scaling in the convolution exponent. It is shown that this scaling relation is a natural extension of dilative stability and some examples of dilatively semistable processes are given. We further characterize dilatively stable and dilatively semistable processes as limits for certain rescaled aggregations of independent processes.
We study monotone and convex stochastic orders for processes with independent increments. Our contributions are twofold: First, we relate stochastic orders of the Poisson component to orders of their (generalized) Lévy measures. The relation is proven using an interpolation formula for infinitely divisible laws. Second, we derive explicit conditions on the characteristics of the processes. In this case, we prove the conditions via constructions of couplings.
Reinforced processes are known to provide a stochastic representation for the quasi-stationary distribution of a given killed Markov process - describing the killed Markov process at fixed time instants. In this paper we shall adapt the construction to provide a pathwise description. We also obtain a stochastic approximation for the quasi-limiting distributions of reducible killed Markov processes as a corollary.
A stochastically continuous process $ξ(t)$, $t\geq0$, is said to be time-stable if the sum of $n$ i.i.d. copies of $ξ$ equals in distribution to the time-scaled stochastic process $ξ(nt)$, $t\geq0$. The paper advances the understanding of time-stable processes by means of their LePage series representations.
We consider stochastic differential equations driven by some Volterra processes. Under time reversal, these equations are transformed into past dependent stochastic differential equations driven by a standard Brownian motion. We are then in position to derive existence and uniqueness of solutions of the Volterra driven SDE considered at the beginning.
In the paper, we consider a type of stochastic differential equations driven by G-Lévy processes. We prove that a kind of their additive functionals has path independence and extend some known results.
This papers develops a stochastic integration theory with respect to volatility modulated Lévy-driven Volterra (VMLV) processes. It extends recent results in the literature to allow for stochastic volatility and pure jump processes in the integrator. The new integration operator is based on Malliavin calculus and describes an anticipative integral. Fundamental properties of the integral are derived and important applications are given.
The work is about multiscale stochastic dynamical systems driven by Lévy processes. First, we prove that these systems can approximate low-dimensional systems on random invariant manifolds. Second, we establish that nonlinear filterings of multiscale stochastic dynamical systems also approximate that of reduced low-dimensional systems. Finally, we investigate the reduction for $\e=0$ and obtain that these reduced systems does not approximate these multiscale stochastic dynamical systems.
We prove the stochastic domination for determinantal processes associated with finite rank projection kernels. The result was first proved by Lyons in discrete setting. We avoid the machinery of matroids in order to obtain a proof that works in a general setting. We prove another result on the stochastic domination of two determinantal processes where the kernels are represented with respect to different measures. Combining this result with Lyons' theorem on the Stochastic domination we obtain a result on the stochastic domination for the last passage time in a directed last passage percolatio…
A new notion of stochastic germs for quantum processes is introduced and a characterisation of the stochastic differentials for positive definite (PD) processes is found in terms of their germs for arbitrary Ito algebra. A representation theorem, giving the pseudo-Hilbert dilation for the germ-matrix of the differential, is proved. This suggests the general form of quantum stochastic evolution equations with respect to the Poisson (jumps), Wiener (diffusion) or general quantum noise.
We analyze several aspects of a class of simple counting processes, that can emerge in some fields of applications where the presence of a change-point occurs. Under simple conditions we, in particular, prove a significant inequality for the stochastic intensity.
We consider stochastic (partial) differential equations appearing as Markovian lifts of affine Volterra processes with jumps from the point of view of the generalized Feller property which was introduced in e.g.~\cite{doetei:10}. In particular we provide new existence, uniqueness and approximation results for Markovian lifts of affine rough volatility models of general jump diffusion type. We demonstrate that in this Markovian light the theory of stochastic Volterra processes becomes almost classical.
In this paper, we contribute to the study of the class $(Σ)$. In the first part of the paper, we provide new ways to characterize stochastic processes of the above mentioned class and we derive some new properties. For instance, we prove that a stochastic process $X$ is an element of the class $(Σ)$ if, and only if, its absolute value is equal to absolute value of some martingale $M$. In the second part, we study in particular, stochastic processes of the class $(Σ)$ which vanish on the zero set of a given Brownian motion. More precisely, we provide a characterization theorem and methods deali…
For any real-valued stochastic process $X$ with cŕdlŕg paths we define non-empty family of processes which have locally finite total variation, have jumps of the same order as the process $X$ and uniformly approximate its paths on compacts. The application of the defined class is the definition of stochastic integral with semimartingale integrand and integrator as a limit of pathwise Lebesgue-Stieltjes integrals. This construction leads to the stochastic integral with some correction term (different from the Stratonovich integral). We compare the obtained result with classical results of Wong-…
We introduce a stochastic integral with respect to cylindrical Lévy processes with finite $p$-th weak moment for $p\in [1,2]$. The space of integrands consists of $p$-summing operators between Banach spaces of martingale type $p$. We apply the developed integration theory to establish the existence of a solution for a stochastic evolution equation driven by a cylindrical Lévy process.
We present two main theorems for stochastic processes with a Markov regime-switching model. First, we work on an existence-uniqueness theorem for a Stochastic Differential Delay Equation with Jumps and Regimes (SDDEJRs). Then, we provide the duality between an SDDEJR and an Anticipated Backward Stochastic Differential Equation with Jumps and Regimes (ABSDEJRs). Our goal is to provide two technical and basis theorems for the future theoretical and applied developments of time-delayed and time-advanced models.
In this paper, by virtue of Malliavin calculus, we establish a relationship between backward doubly stochastic differential equations with random coefficients and quasilinear stochastic PDEs, and thus extend the well-known nonlinear stochastic Feynman-Kac formula of Pardoux and Peng [14] to non-Markovian case.
Stroock and Varadhan in 1997 and Geiss in 2005 independently introduced stochastic processes with bounded mean oscillation (BMO) and established their exponential integrability with some unspecified exponential constant. This result is an analogue of the John--Nirenberg inequality for functions of bounded mean oscillation. In this work, we quantify the size of the exponential constant by the modulus of mean oscillation. Some new applications of BMO processes in rough stochastic differential equations, numerical approximations and regularization by noise are discussed.
Using the results of X. Fernique on the compactness of distributions of cadlag random functions, we derive some cadlaguity moment estimates for stochastic processes with jumps.
Two networks of queues models, presented initially by Jackson, in the open case, and Gordon and Newell, in the closed case, stochastic processes are presented and studied in some of their details and problems. The service times are exponentially distributed and there is only one class of customers.
In this paper, we introduce and prove a stochastic Gronwall's inequality in (unbounded) random time horizon. As an application, we prove a comparison theorem for backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE for short) with random terminal time under stochastic monotonicity condition.
For Itô stochastic processes in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$ with drift in $L_{d}$ Aleksandrov's type estimates are established in the elliptic and parabolic settings. They are applied to estimating the resolvent operators of the corresponding elliptic and parabolic operators in $L_{p}$ and $L_{p+1}$, respectively, where $p\geq d$.
We approximate stochastic processes in finite dimension by dynamical systems. We provide trajectorial estimates which are uniform with respect to the initial condition for a well chosen distance. This relies on some non-expansivity property of the flow, which allows to deal with non-Lipschitz vector fields. We use the stochastic calculus and follow the martingale technics initiated in Berestycki and al [5] to control the fluctuations. Our main applications deal with the short time behavior of stochastic processes starting from large initial values. We state general properties on the coming dow…
A cylindrical Levy process does not enjoy a cylindrical version of the semi-martingale decomposition which results in the need to develop a completely novel approach to stochastic integration. In this work, we introduce a stochastic integral for random integrands with respect to cylindrical Levy processes in Hilbert spaces. The space of admissible integrands consists of adapted stochastic processes with values in the space of Hilbert-Schmidt operators. Neither the integrands nor the integrator is required to satisfy any moment or boundedness condition. The integral process is characterised as …
We study the asymptotic behavior of multiscale stochastic gene networks using weak limits of Markov jump processes. Depending on the time and concentration scales of the system we distinguish four types of limits: continuous piecewise deterministic processes (PDP) with switching, PDP with jumps in the continuous variables, averaged PDP, and PDP with singular switching. We justify rigorously the convergence for the four types of limits. The convergence results can be used to simplify the stochastic dynamics of gene network models arising in molecular biology.
We study optimal approximation of stochastic processes by polynomial splines with free knots. The number of free knots is either a priori fixed or may depend on the particular trajectory. For the $s$-fold integrated Wiener process as well as for scalar diffusion processes we determine the asymptotic behavior of the average $L_p$-distance to the splines spaces, as the (expected) number $k$ of free knots tends to infinity.
Using time-reversal, we introduce a stochastic integral for zero-energy additive functionals of symmetric Markov processes, extending earlier work of S. Nakao. Various properties of such stochastic integrals are discussed and an Itô formula for Dirichlet processes is obtained.
We introduce a Skorokhod type integral and prove an Ito formula for a wide class of Gaussian processes which may exhibit stochastic discontinuities. Our Ito formula unifies and extends the classical one for general (i.e., possibly discontinuous) Gaussian martingales in the sense of Ito integration and the one for stochastically continuous Gaussian non-martingales in the Skorokhod sense, which was first derived in Alos et al. (Ann. Probab. 29, 2001).
Spatial birth and death processes are obtained as solutions of a system of stochastic equations. The processes are required to be locally finite, but may involve an infinite population over the full (noncompact) type space. Conditions are given for existence and uniqueness of such solutions, and for temporal and spatial ergodicity. For birth and death processes with constant death rate, a sub-criticality condition on the birth rate implies that the process is ergodic and converges exponentially fast to the stationary distribution.
The article is devoted to stochastic processes with values in finite- and infinite-dimensional vector spaces over infinite fields $\bf K$ of zero characteristics with non-trivial non-archimedean norms. For different types of stochastic processes controlled by measures with values in $\bf K$ and in complete topological vector spaces over $\bf K$ stochastic integrals are investigated. Vector valued measures and integrals in spaces over $\bf K$ are studied. Theorems about spectral decompositions of non-archimedean stochastic processes are proved.
In this paper, a connection between bi-free probability and the theory of non-commutative stochastic processes is examined. Specifically it is demonstrated that the transition operators for non-commutative stochastic processes can be modelled using technology from bi-free probability. Several important examples are recovered with this approach and new formula are obtained for processes with free increments. The benefits of this approach are also discussed.
Nakao's stochastic integrals for continuous additive functionals of zero energy are extended from the symmetric Dirichlet forms setting to the non-symmetric Dirichlet forms setting. Ito's formula in terms of the extended stochastic integrals is obtained.
The aim of this paper is to extend the aggregation convergence results given in (Dacunha-Castelle and Fermin 2005, Dacunha-Castelle and Fermin 2008) to doubly stochastic linear and nonlinear processes with weakly dependent innovations. First, we introduce a weak dependence notion for doubly stochastic processes, based in the weak dependence definition given in (Doukhan and Louhichi 1999), and we exhibe several models satisfying this notion, such as: doubly stochastic Volterra processes and doubly stochastic Bernoulli scheme with weakly dependent innovations. Afterwards we derive a central limi…
In this work, we consider the stochastic Cauchy problem driven by the canonical $α$-stable cylindrical Lévy process. This noise naturally generalises the cylindrical Brownian motion or space-time Gaussian white noise. We derive a sufficient and necessary condition for the existence of the weak and mild solution of the stochastic Cauchy problem and establish the temporal irregularity of the solution.
We show that every separable Gaussian process with integrable variance function admits a Fredholm representation with respect to a Brownian motion. We extend the Fredholm representation to a transfer principle and develop stochastic analysis by using it. We show the convenience of the Fredholm representation by giving applications to equivalence in law, bridges, series expansions, stochastic differential equations and maximum likelihood estimations.
Explicit solutions for a class of linear backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) driven by Gaussian Volterra processes are given. These processes include the multifractional brownian motion and the multifractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. By an Itô formula, proven in the context of Malliavin calculus, the BSDE is associated to a linear second order partial differential equation with terminal condition whose solution is given by a Feynman-Kac type formula. An application to self-financing trading strategies is discussed.
In this paper, we generalize to Gaussian Volterra processes the existence and uniqueness of solutions for a class of non linear backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) and we establish the relation between the non linear BSDE and the partial differential equation (PDE). A comparison theorem for the solution of the BSDE is proved and the continuity of its law is studied.
The paper is devoted to the existence of integral functionals $\int_0^\infty f(X(t))\,{\mathrm{d}t}$ for several classes of processes in $\mathbb{R}$ with $d\ge 3$. Some examples such as Brownian motion, fractional Brownian motion, compound Poisson process, Markov processes admitting densities of transitional probabilities are considered.
