In this paper, we generalize to Gaussian Volterra processes the existence and uniqueness of solutions for a class of non linear backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) and we establish the relation between the non linear BSDE and the partial differential equation (PDE). A comparison theorem for the solution of the BSDE is proved and the continuity of its law is studied.
In this paper, we study backward doubly stochastic integral equations of the Volterra type (BDSIEVs in short). Under uniform Lipschitz assumptions, we establish an existence and uniqueness result.
This note aims to give an explicit solution for backward stochastic Volterra integral equations with linear time delayed generators. The process $Y$ is expressed by an integral whose kernel is explicitly given. The processes $Z$ is expressed by Hida-Malliavin derivatives involving $Y$.
We present an explicit solution triplet $(Y, Z, K)$ to the backward stochastic Volterra integral equation (BSVIE) of linear type, driven by a Brownian motion and a compensated Poisson random measure. The process $Y$ is expressed by an integral whose kernel is explicitly given. The processes $Z$ and $K$ are expressed by Hida-Malliavin derivatives involving $Y$.
We introduce and study a new type of integral equations called anticipating backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (anticipating BSVIEs). In these equations the generator involves not only the present values but also the future values of the solutions. We obtain the existence and uniqueness theorem and a comparison theorem for the solutions to these anticipating BSVIEs.
In this paper, we study backward stochastic Volterra integral equations introduced in [26, 45] and extend the existence, uniqueness or comparison results for general filtration as in [31] (not only Brownian-Poisson setting). We also consider Lp-data and explore the time regularity of the solution in the It{ô} setting, which is also new in this jump setting.
This paper aims to study a new class of integral equations called backward doubly stochastic Volterra integral equations (BDSVIEs, for short). The notion of symmetrical martingale solutions (SM-solutions, for short) is introduced for BDSVIEs. And the existence and uniqueness theorem for BDSVIEs in the sense of SM-solutions is established.
Backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short) are studied. We introduce the notion of adapted symmetrical solutions (S-solutions in short), which are different from the M-solutions introduced by Yong [17]. We also give some new results for them. At last a class of dynamic coherent risk measures were derived via certain BSVIEs.
For backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs) in multi-dimensional Euclidean spaces, comparison theorems are established in a systematic way for the adapted solutions and adapted M-solutions. For completeness, comparison theorems for (forward) stochastic differential equations, backward stochastic differential equations, and (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equations (FSVIEs) are also presented. Duality principles are used in some relevant proofs. Also, it is found that certain kind of monotonicity conditions play crucial roles to guarantee the comparison theorems for FSVI…
Explicit solutions for a class of linear backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) driven by Gaussian Volterra processes are given. These processes include the multifractional brownian motion and the multifractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. By an Itô formula, proven in the context of Malliavin calculus, the BSDE is associated to a linear second order partial differential equation with terminal condition whose solution is given by a Feynman-Kac type formula. An application to self-financing trading strategies is discussed.
We study solutions of a class of one-dimensional continuous reflected backward stochastic Volterra integral equations driven by Brownian motion, where the reflection keeps the solution above a given stochastic process (lower obstacle). We prove existence and uniqueness by a fixed point argument and we derive a comparison result. Moreover, we show how the solution of our problem is related to a time-inconsistent optimal stopping problem and derive an optimal strategy.
In this paper, we study a class of backward stochastic Volterra integral equations driven by Teugels martingales associated with an independent Lévy process and an independent Brownian motion (BSVIELs). We prove the existence and uniqueness as well as stability of the adapted M-solutions for those equations. Moreover, a duality principle and then a comparison theorem are established. As an application, we derive a class of dynamic risk measures by means of M-solutions of certain BSVIELs.
This paper is devoted to the unique solvability of backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs for short), in terms of both M-solution introduced in [15] and the adapted solutions in [6], [11]. We prove the existence and uniqueness of M-solutions of BSVIEs in Lp (1<p<2), which extends the results in [15]. The unique solvability of adapted solutions of BSVIEs in Lp (p>1) is also considered, which also generalize the results in [6] and [11].
In this paper, we establish the relationship between backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs, for short) and a kind of non-local quasilinear (and possibly degenerate) parabolic equations. We first introduce the extended backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (EBSVIEs, for short). Under some mild conditions, we establish the well-posedness of EBSVIEs and obtain some regularity results of the adapted solution to the EBSVIEs via Malliavin calculus. We show that a given function expressed in terms of the solution to the EBSVIEs solves a certain system of non-local paraboli…
For backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs, for short), under some mild conditions, the so-called adapted solutions or adapted M-solutions uniquely exist. However, satisfactory regularity of the solutions is difficult to obtain in general. Inspired by the decoupling idea of forward-backward stochastic differential equations, in this paper, for a class of BSVIEs, a representation of adapted M-solutions is established by means of the so-called representation partial differential equations and (forward) stochastic differential equations. Well-posedness of the representation parti…
Backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) belong nowadays to the most frequently studied equations in stochastic analysis and computational stochastics. In this paper we prove that Picard iterations of BSDEs with globally Lipschitz continuous nonlinearities converge exponentially fast to the solution. Our main result in this paper is to establish a fundamental lemma to prove the global existence and uniqueness of an adapted solution to a singular backward stochastic nonlinear Volterra integral equation (for short singular BSVIE) of order $α\in (\frac{1}{2},1)$ under a weaker condition…
In this paper, we study backward stochastic Volterra integral equations of type-I with time delayed generators. Under some condition (small time horizon or a Lipschitz constant), we derive an existence and uniqueness results. Next, with the help of two examples of this BSVIEs we provide this condition is necessary. However, for special class of delayed generators, the previous existence and uniqueness result hold for an arbitrary time horizon and Lipschitz constant. We end this paper by establishing under an additive assumptions, a path continuity property.
In this paper, we provide variation of constants formulae for linear (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equations (SVIEs, for short) and linear Type-II backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs, for short) in the usual Itô's framework. For these purposes, we define suitable classes of stochastic Volterra kernels and introduce new notions of the products of adapted $L^2$-processes. Observing the algebraic properties of the products, we obtain the variation of constants formulae by means of the corresponding resolvent. Our framework includes SVIEs with singular kernels such as …
In this paper, we study a class of Type-II backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs). For the adapted M-solutions, we obtain two approximation results, namely, a BSDE approximation and a numerical approximation. The BSDE approximation means that the solution of a finite system of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) converges to the adapted M-solution of the original equation. As a consequence of the BSDE approximation, we obtain an estimate for the $L^2$-time regularity of the adapted M-solutions of Type-II BSVIEs. For the numerical approximation, we provide a bac…
In this paper, a systematic investigation is carried out for the general solvability of multi-dimensional backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs) with the generators being super-linear in the adjustment variable $Z$. Two major situations are discussed: (i) When the free term is bounded with the dependence of the generator on $Z$ being of ``diagonally strictly'' quadratic growth and being sub-quadratically coupled with off-diagonal components; (ii) When the free term is unbounded having exponential moments of arbitrary order with the dependence of the generator on $Z$ being dia…
For an $\cF_T$-measurable payoff of a European type contingent claim, the recursive utility process/dynamic risk measure can be described by the adapted solution to a backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE). However, for an $\cF_T$-measurable stochastic process (called a position process, not necessarily $\dbF$-adapted), mimicking BSDE's approach will lead to a time-inconsistent recursive utility/dynamic risk measure. It is found that a more proper approach is to use the adapted solution to a backward stochastic Volterra integral equation (BSVIE). The corresponding notions are called …
We study a novel general class of multidimensional type-I backward stochastic Volterra integral equations. Toward this goal, we introduce an infinite dimensional system of standard backward SDEs and establish its well-posedness, and we show that it is equivalent to that of a type-I backward stochastic Volterra integral equation. We also establish a representation formula in terms of non-linear semilinear partial differential equation of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman type. As an application, we consider the study of time-inconsistent stochastic control from a game-theoretic point of view. We show the…
Backward doubly stochastic Volterra integral equations (BDSVIEs, for short) are introduced and studied systematically. Well-posedness of BDSVIEs in the sense of introduced M-solutions is established. A comparison theorem for BDSVIEs is proved. By virtue of the comparison theorem, we derive the existence of solutions for BDSVIEs with continuous coefficients. Furthermore, a duality principle between linear (forward) doubly stochastic Volterra integral equation (FDSVIE, for short) and BDSVIE is obtained. A Pontryagin type maximum principle is also established for an optimal control problem of FDS…
In this paper, we study extended backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (EBSVIEs, for short). We establish the well-posedness under weaker assumptions than the literature, and prove a new kind of regularity property for the solutions. As an application, we investigate, in the open-loop framework, a time-inconsistent stochastic recursive control problem where the cost functional is defined by the solution to a backward stochastic Volterra integral equation (BSVIE, for short). We show that the corresponding adjoint equations become EBSVIEs, and provide a necessary and sufficient conditi…
This paper formulates and studies a stochastic maximum principle for forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs in short), while the control area is assumed to be convex. Then a linear quadratic (LQ in short) problem for backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short) is present to illustrate the aforementioned optimal control problem. Motivated by the technical skills in solving above problem, a more convenient and briefer method for the unique solvability of M-solution for BSVIEs is proposed. At last, we will investigate a risk minimization problem by …

For a backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE, for short), when the generator is not progressively measurable, it might not admit adapted solutions, shown by an example. However, for backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs, for short), the generators are allowed to be anticipating. This gives, among other things, an essential difference between BSDEs and BSVIEs. Under some proper conditions, the well-posedness of such kinds of BSVIEs is established. Further, the results are extended to path-dependent BSVIEs, in which the generators can depend on the future paths of unkn…
This paper is concerned with the relationship between forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs, for short) and a system of (non-local in time) path dependent partial differential equations (PPDEs, for short). Due to the nature of Volterra type equations, the usual flow property (or semigroup property) does not hold. Inspired by Viens-Zhang \cite{Viens-Zhang-2019} and Wang-Yong \cite{Wang-Yong-2019}, auxiliary processes are introduced so that the flow property of adapted solutions to the FBSVIEs is recovered in a suitable sense, and thus the functional Itô's formula is a…
In this paper we study the unique solvability of backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs in short), in terms of both the M-solutions introduced in [17] and the adapted solutions in [6], [12] or [14]. A general existence and uniqueness of M-solutions is proved under non-Lipschitz conditions by virtue of a briefer argument than the one in [17], which also extends the results in [17]. For the adapted solutions, the unique solvability of BSVIEs, under more general stochastic non-Lipschitz conditions, is obtained which generalizes the results in [6], [12] and [14].
Infinite horizon backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs for short) are investigated. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the adapted M-solution in a weighted $L^2$-space. Furthermore, we extend some important known results for finite horizon BSVIEs to the infinite horizon setting. We provide a variation of constant formula for a class of infinite horizon linear BSVIEs and prove a duality principle between a linear (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equation (SVIE for short) and an infinite horizon linear BSVIE in a weighted $L^2$-space. As an application, we investiga…
We investigate stochastic Volterra equations and their limiting laws. The stochastic Volterra equations we consider are driven by a Hilbert space valued \Levy noise and integration kernels may have non-linear dependence on the current state of the process. Our method is based on an embedding into a Hilbert space of functions which allows to represent the solution of the Volterra equation as the boundary value of a solution to a stochastic partial differential equation. We first gather abstract results and give more detailed conditions in more specific function spaces.
An optimal control problem is considered for a stochastic differential equation with the cost functional determined by a backward stochastic Volterra integral equation (BSVIE, for short). This kind of cost functional can cover the general discounting (including exponential and non-exponential) situation with a recursive feature. It is known that such a problem is time-inconsistent in general. Therefore, instead of finding a global optimal control, we look for a time-consistent locally near optimal equilibrium strategy. With the idea of multi-person differential games, a family of approximate e…
This paper formulates and studies a linear quadratic (LQ for short) game problem governed by linear stochastic Volterra integral equation. Sufficient and necessary condition of the existence of saddle points for this problem are derived. As a consequence we solve the problems left by Chen and Yong in [3]. Firstly, in our framework, the term GX^2(T) is allowed to be appear in the cost functional and the coefficients are allowed to be random. Secondly we study the unique solvability for certain coupled forward-backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (FBSVIEs for short) involved in this g…
We study uniqueness for a class of Volterra-type stochastic integral equations. We focus on the case of non-Lipschitz noise coefficients. The connection of these equations to certain degenerate stochastic partial differential equations plays a key role.
In this article, we study the ergodicity of neutral retarded stochastic functional differential equations driven by $α$-regular Volterra process. Based on the equivalence between neutral retarded stochastic functional differential equations and the stochastic evolution equation, we get the ergodicity of neutral retarded stochastic functional differential equations.
Motivated by a problem of optimal harvesting of natural resources, we study a control problem for Volterra type dynamics driven by time-changed Lévy noises, which are in general not Markovian. To exploit the nature of the noise, we make use of different kind of information flows within a maximum principle approach. For this we work with backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) with time-change and exploit the non-anticipating stochastic derivative introduced in [15]. We prove both a sufficient and necessary stochastic maximum principle.
We study a stochastic differential game between two players, controlling a forward stochastic Volterra integral equation (FSVIE). Each player has to optimize his own performance functional which includes a backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE). The dynamics considered are driven by time-changed Lévy noises, with absolutely continuous time-change process. We prove a sufficient maximum principle to characterize Nash equilibria and the related optimal strategies. For this we use techniques of control under partial information, and the non-anticipating stochastic derivative. The zero-su…
In this article, we deal with fractional stochastic differential equations, so-called Caputo type fractional backward stochastic differential equations (Caputo fBSDEs, for short), and study the well-posedness of an adapted solution to Caputo fBSDEs of order $α\in (\frac{1}{2},1)$ whose coefficients satisfy a Lipschitz condition. A novelty of the article is that we introduce a new weighted norm in the square integrable measurable function space that is useful for proving a fundamental lemma and its well-posedness. For this class of systems, we then show the coincidence between the notion of sto…
In this paper, we first study the existence-uniqueness and large deviation estimate of solutions for stochastic Volterra integral equations with singular kernels in 2-smooth Banach spaces. Then, we apply them to a large class of semilinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDE) driven by Brownian motions as well as by fractional Brownian motions, and obtain the existence of unique maximal strong solutions (in the sense of SDE and PDE) under local Lipschitz conditions. Lastly, high order SPDEs in a bounded domain of Euclidean space, second order SPDEs on complete Riemannian manifolds,…
In this paper, we prove both necessary and sufficient maximum principles for infinite horizon discounted control problems of stochastic Volterra integral equations with finite delay and a convex control domain. The corresponding adjoint equation is a novel class of infinite horizon anticipated backward stochastic Volterra integral equations. Our results can be applied to discounted control problems of stochastic delay differential equations and fractional stochastic delay differential equations. As an example, we consider a stochastic linear-quadratic regulator problem for a delayed fractional…
We consider stochastic (partial) differential equations appearing as Markovian lifts of affine Volterra processes with jumps from the point of view of the generalized Feller property which was introduced in e.g.~\cite{doetei:10}. In particular we provide new existence, uniqueness and approximation results for Markovian lifts of affine rough volatility models of general jump diffusion type. We demonstrate that in this Markovian light the theory of stochastic Volterra processes becomes almost classical.
Space-time regularity of linear stochastic partial differential equations is studied. The solution is defined in the mild sense in the state space $L^p$. The corresponding regularity is obtained by showing that the stochastic convolution integrals are Hölder continuous in a suitable function space. In particular cases, this allows to show space-time Hölder continuity of the solution. The main tool used is a hypercontractivity result on Banach-space valued random variables in a finite Wiener chaos.
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of semi-linear degenerate backward stochastic partial differential equations (BSPDEs in short) under general settings without technical assumptions on the coefficients. For the solution of semi-linear degenerate BSPDE, we first give a proof for its existence and uniqueness, as well as regularity. Then the connection between semi-linear degenerate BSPDEs and forward backward stochastic differential equations (FBSDEs in short) is established, which can be regarded as an extension of Feynman-Kac formula to non-Markov frame.
