We consider one-dimensional stochastic differential equations with a boundary condition, driven by a Poisson process. We study existence and uniqueness of solutions and the absolute continuity of the law of the solution. In the case when the coefficients are linear, we give an explicit form of the solution and study the reciprocal process property.
Semilinear stochastic evolution equations with multiplicative Poisson noise and monotone nonlinear drift are considered. We do not impose coercivity conditions on coefficients. A novel method of proof for establishing existence and uniqueness of the mild solution is proposed. Examples on stochastic partial differential equations and stochastic delay differential equations are provided to demonstrate the theory developed.
In this paper we investigate classical solution of a semi-linear system of backward stochastic integral partial differential equations driven by a Brownian motion and a Poisson point process. By proving an Itô-Wentzell formula for jump diffusions as well as an abstract result of stochastic evolution equations, we obtain the stochastic integral partial differential equation for the inverse of the stochastic flow generated by a stochastic differential equation driven by a Brownian motion and a Poisson point process. By composing the random field generated by the solution of a backward stochastic…
Stochastic Hall-magnetohydrodynamics equations on ${\mathbb{R}}^{3}$ with random forces expressed in terms of the time homogeneous Poisson random measures are considered. We prove the existence of a global martingale solution. The construction of a solution is based on the Fourier truncation method, stochastic compactness method and a version of the Skorokhod theorem for non-metric spaces adequate for Poisson type random fields.
We study point processes that consist of certain centers of point tuples of an underlying Poisson process. Such processes arise in stochastic geometry in the study of exceedances of various functionals describing geometric properties of the Poisson process. We use a coupling of the point process with its Palm version to prove a general Poisson limit theorem. We then combine our general result with the theory of asymptotic shapes of large cells (Kendall's problem) in random mosaics and prove Poisson limit theorems for large cells (with respect to a general size functional) in the Poisson-Vorono…
Consider a surplus process which both of collected premium and payed claim size are two independent compound Poisson processes. This article derives two approximated formulas for the ruin probability of such surplus process, say double stochastic compound poisson process. More precisely, it provides two mixture exponential approximations for ruin probability of such double stochastic compound poisson process. Applications to long_term Bonus_Malus systems and a heavy-tiled claim size distribution have been given. Improvement of our findings compared to the Cramer- Lundberg upper bound has been …
We consider a type of stochastic nonlinear beam equation driven by Lévy noise. By using a suitable Lyapunov function and applying the Khasminskii test we show the nonexplosion of the mild solutions. In addition, under some additional assumptions we prove the exponential stability of the solutions.
This survey is a preliminary version of a chapter of the forthcoming book "Stochastic Analysis for Poisson Point Processes: Malliavin Calculus, Wiener-Itô Chaos Expansions and Stochastic Geometry" edited by Giovanni Peccati and Matthias Reitzner. The paper develops some basic theory for the stochastic analysis of Poisson process on a general $σ$-finite measure space. After giving some fundamental definitions and properties (as the multivariate Mecke equation) the paper presents the Fock space representation of square-integrable functions of a Poisson process in terms of iterated difference ope…
In an M-type 2 Banach space, firstly we explore some properties of the set-valued stochastic integral associated with the stationary Poisson point process. By using the Hahn decomposition theorem and bounded linear functional, we obtain the main result: the integral of a set-valued stochastic process with respect to the compensated Poisson measure is a set-valued submartingale but not a martingale unless the integrand degenerates into a single-valued process. Secondly we study the strong solution to the set-valued stochastic integral equation, which includes a set-valued drift, a single-valued…
In this paper{\}we prove the existence of a solution for reflected backward doubly stochastic differential equations with poisson jumps (RBDSDEPs) with one continuous barrier where the generator is continuous and also we study the RBDSDEPs with a linear growth condition and left continuity in $y$ on the generator. By a comparison theorem established here for this type of equation we provide a minimal or a maximal solution to RBDSDEPs.
We use the Stein-Chen method to obtain compound Poisson approximations for the distribution of the number of subgraphs in a generalised stochastic block model which are isomorphic to some fixed graph. This model generalises the classical stochastic block model to allow for the possibility of multiple edges between vertices. Both the cases that the fixed graph is a simple graph and that it has multiple edges are treated. The former results apply when the fixed graph is a member of the class of strictly balanced graphs and the latter results apply to a suitable generalisation of this class to gr…
Stochastically monotone Markov chains arise in many applied domains, especially in the setting of queues and storage systems. Poisson's equation is a key tool for analyzing additive functionals of such models, such as cumulative sums of waiting times or sums of rewards. In this paper, we show that when the reward function for such a Markov chain is monotone, the solution of Poisson's equation is monotone. This implies that the value function associated with infinite horizon average reward is monotone in the state when the reward is monotone.
We prove existence, uniqueness and Lipschitz dependence on the initial datum for mild solutions of stochastic partial differential equations with Lipschitz coefficients driven by Wiener and Poisson noise. Under additional assumptions, we prove Gateaux and Frechet differentiability of solutions with respect to the initial datum. As an application, we obtain gradient estimates for the resolvent associated to the mild solution. Finally, we prove the strong Feller property of the associated semigroup.
The aim of this paper is to establish the existence and uniqueness of the solution to a system of nonlinear fully coupled forward-backward doubly stochastic differential equations with Poisson jumps. Our system is Markovian in the sense that initial and terminal values depend on solutions, and are not just fixed random variables. We establish under some monotonicity conditions, the existence and uniqueness of strong solutions of such equations by using a continuation method.
A Poisson or a binomial process on an abstract state space and a symmetric function $f$ acting on $k$-tuples of its points are considered. They induce a point process on the target space of $f$. The main result is a functional limit theorem which provides an upper bound for an optimal transportation distance between the image process and a Poisson process on the target space. The technical background are a version of Stein's method for Poisson process approximation, a Glauber dynamics representation for the Poisson process and the Malliavin formalism. As applications of the main result, error …
Semilinear stochastic evolution equations with Lévy noise and monotone nonlinear drift are considered. The existence and uniqueness of the mild solutions in $L^p$ for these equations is proved and a sufficient condition for exponential asymptotic stability of the solutions is derived. The main tool in our study is an Itô type inequality for the $p$th power of stochastic convolution integrals in Hilbert spaces.
Small subgraph counts can be used as summary statistics for large random graphs. We use the Stein-Chen method to derive Poisson approximations for the distribution of the number of subgraphs in the stochastic block model which are isomorphic to some fixed graph. We also obtain Poisson approximations for subgraph counts in a graphon-type generalisation of the model in which the edge probabilities are (possibly dependent) random variables supported on a subset of $[0,1]$. Our results apply when the fixed graph is a member of the class of strictly balanced graphs.
We study the obtainment of closed-form formulas for the distribution of the jumps of a doubly-stochastic Poisson process. The problem is approached in two ways. On the one hand, we translate the problem to the computation of multiple derivatives of the Hazard process cumulant generating function; this leads to a closed-form formula written in terms of Bell polynomials. On the other hand, for Hazard processes driven by Lévy processes, we use Malliavin calculus in order to express the aforementioned distributions in an appealing recursive manner. We outline the potential application of these res…
We prove It{ô}'s formula for the flow of measures associated with a jump process defined by a drift, an integral with respect to a Poisson random measure and with respect to the associated compensated Poisson random measure. We work in $\mathcal{P}_β(\mathbb{R}^d)$, the space of probability measures on $\mathbb{R}^d$ having a finite moment of order $β\in (0, 2]$. As an application, we exhibit the backward Kolmogorov partial differential equation stated on $[0,T] \times \mathcal{P}_β(\mathbb{R}^d)$ associated with a McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equation driven by a Poisson random measu…
We explore negative dependence and stochastic orderings, showing that if an integer-valued random variable $W$ satisfies a certain negative dependence assumption, then $W$ is smaller (in the convex sense) than a Poisson variable of equal mean. Such $W$ include those which may be written as a sum of totally negatively dependent indicators. This is generalised to other stochastic orderings. Applications include entropy bounds, Poisson approximation and concentration. The proof uses thinning and size-biasing. We also show how these give a different Poisson approximation result, which is applied t…
The infinite servers queue with Poisson arrivals state transient probabilities, considering the time origin at the beginning of a busy period, mean and variance monotony as time functions is studied. These studies, for which results it is determinant the hazard rate function service time length, induce the consideration of two differential equations, one related with the mean monotony study and another with the variance monotony study, which solutions lead to some particular service time distributions, for which those parameters present specific behaviors as time functions.
This article compares the distributions of integer-valued random variables and Poisson random variables. It considers the total variation and the Wasserstein distance and provides, in particular, explicit bounds on the pointwise difference between the cumulative distribution functions. Special attention is dedicated to estimating the difference when the cumulative distribution functions are evaluated at 0. This permits to approximate the minimum (or maximum) of a collection of random variables by a suitable random variable in the Kolmogorov distance. The main theoretical results are obtained b…
This paper presents a new view of household epidemic models, where the interaction between the households is of mean field type. We thus obtain in the limit of infinitely many households a nonlinear Markov process solution of a McKean - Vlasov type Poisson driven SDE, and a propagation of chaos result. We also define a basic reproduction number R0, and show that if R0>1, then the nonlinear Markov process has a unique non trivial ergodic invariant probability measure, whereas if R0<=1, it converges to 0 as t tends to infinity.
We obtain Stein approximation bounds for stochastic integrals with respect to a Poisson random measure over ${\Bbb R}^d$, $d\geq 2$. This approach relies on third cumulant Edgeworth-type expansions based on derivation operators defined by the Malliavin calculus for Poisson random measures. The use of third cumulants can exhibit faster convergence rates than the standard Berry-Esseen rate for some sequences of Poisson stochastic integrals.
We consider some fractional extensions of the recursive differential equation governing the Poisson process, by introducing combinations of different fractional time-derivatives. We show that the so-called "Generalized Mittag-Leffler functions" (introduced by Prabhakar [20]) arise as solutions of these equations. The corresponding processes are proved to be renewal, with density of the intearrival times (represented by Mittag-Leffler functions) possessing power, instead of exponential, decay, for t tending to infinite. On the other hand, near the origin the behavior of the law of the interarri…
Let $η_t$ be a Poisson point process with intensity measure $tμ$, $t>0$, over a Borel space $\mathbb{X}$, where $μ$ is a fixed measure. Another point process $ξ_t$ on the real line is constructed by applying a symmetric function $f$ to every $k$-tuple of distinct points of $η_t$. It is shown that $ξ_t$ behaves after appropriate rescaling like a Poisson point process, as $t\to\infty$, under suitable conditions on $η_t$ and $f$. This also implies Weibull limit theorems for related extreme values. The result is then applied to investigate problems arising in stochastic geometry, including small c…
We compute the moment of order n of the Poisson stochastic integral of a random process u over a metric space X as a sum that runs over all partitions of {1,...,n} and involves the addition of points to Poisson configurations. This formula recovers known results in case u is a deterministic function on X.
We prove new upper and lower bounds for Banach space-valued stochastic integrals with respect to a compensated Poisson random measure. Our estimates apply to Banach spaces with non-trivial martingale (co)type and extend various results in the literature. We also develop a Malliavin framework to interpret Poisson stochastic integrals as vector-valued Skorohod integrals, and prove a Clark-Ocone representation formula.
In the infinite servers queue with Poisson arrivals real life practical applications, the busy period and the busy cycle probabilistic study is of main importance. But it is a very difficult task. In this text, we show that by solving a Riccati equation induced by this queue transient probabilities monotony study as time functions, we obtain a collection of service length distribution functions, for which both the busy period and the busy cycle have lengths with quite simple distributions, generally given in terms of exponential distributions and the degenerate at the origin distribution.
In this paper, we study a class of stochastic differential equations with additive noise that contains a fractional Brownian motion (fBM) and a Poisson point process of class (QL). The differential equation of this kind is motivated by the reserve processes in a general insurance model, in which the long term dependence between the claim payment and the past history of liability becomes the main focus. We establish some new fractional calculus on the fractional Wiener-Poisson space, from which we define the weak solution of the SDE and prove its existence and uniqueness. Using an extended form…
Stochastic partial differential equations driven by Poisson random measures (PRM) have been proposed as models for many different physical systems, where they are viewed as a refinement of a corresponding noiseless partial differential equations (PDE). A systematic framework for the study of probabilities of deviations of the stochastic PDE from the deterministic PDE is through the theory of large deviations. The goal of this work is to develop the large deviation theory for small Poisson noise perturbations of a general class of deterministic infinite dimensional models. Although the analogou…
We consider a $d$-dimensional random field $u=(u(x), x\in D)$ that solves a system of elliptic stochastic equations on a bounded domain $D\subset \mathbb{R}^k$, with additive white noise and spatial dimension $k=1,2,3$. Properties of $u$ and its probability law are proved. For Gaussian solutions, using results from [Dalang and Sanz-Solé, 2009], we establish upper and lower bounds on hitting probabilities in terms of the Hausdorff measure and Bessel-Riesz capacity, respectively. This relies on precise estimates on the canonical distance of the process or, equivalently, on $L^2$ estimates of inc…
We study stochastic Poisson integrators for a class of stochastic Poisson systems driven by Stratonovich noise. Such geometric integrators preserve Casimir functions and the Poisson map property. For this purpose, we propose explicit stochastic Poisson integrators based on a splitting strategy, and analyse their qualitative and quantitative properties: preservation of Casimir functions, existence of almost sure or moment bounds, asymptotic preserving property, and strong and weak rates of convergence. The construction of the schemes and the theoretical results are illustrated through extensive…
The Poisson process is the most elementary continuous-time stochastic process that models a stream of repeating events. It is uniquely characterised by a single parameter called the rate. Instead of a single value for this rate, we here consider a rate interval and let it characterise two nested sets of stochastic processes. We call these two sets of stochastic process imprecise Poisson processes, explain why this is justified, and study the corresponding lower and upper (conditional) expectations. Besides a general theoretical framework, we also provide practical methods to compute lower and …
Recently the so-called Prabhakar generalization of the fractional Poisson counting process attracted much interest for his flexibility to adapt real world situations. In this renewal process the waiting times between events are IID continuous random variables. In the present paper we analyze discrete-time counterparts: Renewal processes with integer IID interarrival times which converge in well-scaled continuous-time limits to the Prabhakar-generalized fractional Poisson process. These processes exhibit non-Markovian features and long-time memory effects. We recover for special choices of para…
We establish well-posedness in the mild sense for a class of stochastic semilinear evolution equations with a polynomially growing quasi-monotone nonlinearity and multiplicative Poisson noise. We also study existence and uniqueness of invariant measures for the associated semigroup in the Markovian case. A key role is played by a new maximal inequality for stochastic convolutions in $L_p$ spaces.
The intrinsic volumes induced by a stationary Poisson k-flat process inside a compact and convex sampling window are considered. Using techniques from stochastic analysis, more precisely calculus with multiple stochastic integrals and a Wiener-Ito chaos expansion of Poisson functionals, all moments and cumulants, exact and asymptotic, are calculated in terms of a family of integral-geometric functionals. Moreover, univariate central limit theorems as well as Berry-Esseen-type inequalities are shown and a multidimensional limit theorem is concluded.
"Quantum trajectories" are solutions of stochastic differential equations of non-usual type. Such equations are called "Belavkin" or "Stochastic Schrödinger Equations" and describe random phenomena in continuous measurement theory of Open Quantum System. Many recent investigations deal with the control theory in such model. In this article, stochastic models are mathematically and physically justified as limit of concrete discrete procedures called "Quantum Repeated Measurements". In particular, this gives a rigorous justification of the Poisson and diffusion approximation in quantum measureme…
In this paper, we use a unified framework to study Poisson stable (including stationary, periodic, quasi-periodic, almost periodic, almost automorphic, Birkhoff recurrent, almost recurrent in the sense of Bebutov, Levitan almost periodic, pseudo-periodic, pseudo-recurrent and Poisson stable) solutions for semilinear stochastic differential equations driven by infinite dimensional Lévy noise with large jumps. Under suitable conditions on drift, diffusion and jump coefficients, we prove that there exist solutions which inherit the Poisson stability of coefficients. Further we show that these sol…
In this paper exponential stability of nonlinear fractional order stochastic system with Poisson jumps is studied in finite dimensional space. Existence and uniqueness of solution, stability and exponential stability results are established by using boundedness properties of Mittag-Leffler matrix function, fixed point route and local assumptions on nonlinear terms. A numerical example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the obtained results. Finally, conclusion is drawn.
We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to stochastic evolution equations with monotone drift and multiplicative Poisson noise in the variational setting, thus covering a large class of (fully) nonlinear partial differential equations perturbed by jump noise. In particular, we provide sufficient conditions for the existence, ergodicity, and uniqueness of invariant measures. Furthermore, under mild additional assumptions, we prove that the Kolmogorov equation associated to the stochastic equation with additive noise is solvable in $L_1$ spaces with respect to an invariant measure.
We prove existence and uniqueness of mild and generalized solutions for a class of stochastic semilinear evolution equations driven by additive Wiener and Poisson noise. The non-linear drift term is supposed to be the evaluation operator associated to a continuous monotone function satisfying a polynomial growth condition. The results are extensions to the jump-diffusion case of the corresponding ones proved in [4] for equations driven by purely discontinuous noise.
In this paper, we study a class of stochastic optimal control problem with jumps under partial information. More precisely, the controlled systems are described by a fully coupled nonlinear multi- dimensional forward-backward stochastic differential equation driven by a Poisson random measure and an independent multi-dimensional Brownian motion, and all admissible control processes are required to be adapted to a given subfiltration of the filtration generated by the underlying Poisson random measure and Brownian motion. For this type of partial information stochastic optimal control problem, …
In this paper, we study one-dimensional backward stochastic differential equation with jump under logarithmic growth assumption in the z-variable (|z|\sqrt{|\ln|z|}|) and an L^p terminal value (for a suitable p>2). We show the existence and the uniqueness of the solution when the noise is driven by a Brownian motion and an independent Poisson random measure. In addition, we highlight the connection of such BSDEs with stochastic optimal control problem, where we show the existence of an optimal strategy for the stochastic control problem.
In this note we consider a class of neutral stochastic functional differential equations with finite delay driven simultaneously by a fractional Brownian motion and a Poisson point processes in a Hilbert space. We prove an existence and uniqueness result and we establish some conditions ensuring the exponential decay to zero in mean square for the mild solution by means of the Banach fixed point principle.
Motivated by the recent contribution \cite{BB17} we study the scaling limit behavior of a class of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations which has a unique attracting point subject to a small additional repulsive perturbation. Problems of this type appear in the analysis of continuously monitored quantum systems. We extend the results of \cite{BB17} and prove a general result concerning the convergence to a homogeneous Poisson process using only classical probabilistic tools.
In this paper, we study a class of super-linear stochastic differential delay equations with Poisson jumps (SDDEwPJs). The convergence and rate of the convergence of the truncated Euler-Maruyama numerical solutions to SDDEwPJs are investigated under the generalized Khasminskii-type condition.
The paper is dedicated to studying the problem of Poisson stability (in particular stationarity, periodicity, quasi-periodicity, Bohr almost periodicity, Bohr almost automorphy, Birkhoff recurrence, almost recurrence in the sense of Bebutov, Levitan almost periodicity, pseudo-periodicity, pseudo-recurrence, Poisson stability) of solutions for semi-linear stochastic equation $$ dx(t)=(Ax(t)+f(t,x(t)))dt +g(t,x(t))dW(t)\quad (*) $$ with exponentially stable linear operator $A$ and Poisson stable in time coefficients $f$ and $g$. We prove that if the functions $f$ and $g$ are appropriately "small…
For a class of excitatory spiking neuron models with delayed feedback fed with a Poisson stochastic process, it is proven that the stream of output interspike intervals cannot be presented as a Markov process of any order. Keywords: spiking neuron; Poisson stochastic process; probability density function; delayed feedback; non-Markov stochastic process
The distribution $μ_{cl}$ of a Poisson cluster process in $X=\mathbb{R}^{d}$ (with i.i.d. clusters) is studied via an auxiliary Poisson measure on the space of configurations in $\mathfrak{X}=\sqcup_{n} X^n$, with intensity measure defined as a convolution of the background intensity of cluster centres and the probability distribution of a generic cluster. We show that the measure $μ_{cl}$ is quasi-invariant with respect to the group of compactly supported diffeomorphisms of $X$ and prove an integration-by-parts formula for $μ_{cl}$. The corresponding equilibrium stochastic dynamics is then co…
