We define Hecke operators U_m that sift out every m-th Taylor series coefficient of a rational function in one variable, defined over the reals. We prove several structure theorems concerning the eigenfunctions of these Hecke operators, including the pleasing fact that the point spectrum of the operator U_m is simply the set {+/- m^k, k in N} U {0}. It turns out that the simultaneous eigenfunctions of all of the Hecke operators involve Dirichlet characters mod L, giving rise to the result that any arithmetic function of m that is completely multiplicative and also satisfies a linear recurrence must be a Dirichlet character times a power of m. We also define the notions of level and weight for rational eigenfunctions, by analogy with modular forms, and we show the existence of some interesting finite-dimensional subspaces of rational eigenfunctions (of fixed weight and level), whose union gives all of the rational functions whose coefficients are quasi-polynomials.
We establish a one-to-one correspondence between conjugacy classes of any Hecke group and irreducible systems of poles of rational period functions for automorphic integrals on the same group. We use this correspondence to construct irreducible systems of poles and to count poles. We characterize Hecke-conjugation and Hecke-symmetry for poles of rational period functions in terms of the transpose of matrices in conjugacy classes. We construct new rational period functions and families of rational period functions.
We calculate the effect of simple Hecke operators on u-expansions of higher rank Drinfeld modular forms, the eigenvalue for the Drinfeld discriminant function $Δ_t$ and show that a certain natural class of Hecke operators is completely multiplicative.
It is well-known for an elliptic curve with complex multiplication that the existence of a $\mathbb{Q}$-rational model is equivalent to its field of moduli being equal to $\mathbb{Q}$, or its endomorphism ring being the ring of integers of 9 possible fields ($\ast$). Murabayashi and Umegaki proved analogous results for abelian surfaces. For three dimensional CM abelian varieties with rational fields of moduli, Chun narrowed down to a list of 37 possible CM fields. In this paper, we show that his list is exact. By constructing certain Hecke characters that satisfy a theorem of Shimura, we prove…
We outline an algorithm for computing Hecke operators on equivariant cohomology $H^\ast_{Γ_{\text{Sp}}}(X_{\text{Sp}};ρ)$ for the symplectic group $\text{Sp}_4(\mathbb{R})$. To do this, we define a new acyclic cell complex for $\text{Sp}_4(\mathbb{R})$ and make use of the well-tempered complex.
We correct a mistake in \cite{St} leading to erroneous formulas in Theorems 5.2 and 5.4. As an immediate corollary of a formula in \cite{BCJ} we give a formula, which relates the Hecke operators $T(p^2)\circ T(p^{2l-2})$, $T(p^{2l})$ and $T(p^{2l-4})$ and comment on it.
We study polynomials interpolating the (rational) constant terms of certain meromorphic modular forms for Hecke groups. We make observations about the divisibility properties of the constant terms and connect them to several sequences, for example, to O.E.I.S. sequence A005148 \cite{OEISNewmanShanks}, which was studied by Newman, Shanks and Zagier \cite{newman2004sequence}, \cite{newman2004sequenceAppendix} in an article on its use in series approximations to $π$.
We explore a natural action of Hecke operators acting on formal sums of optimal embeddings of real quadratic orders into Eichler orders. By associating an optimal embedding to its root geodesic on the corresponding Shimura curve, we can consider the signed intersection number of pairs of embeddings. Using the Hecke operators and the intersection pairing, we construct a generating series that is demonstrated to be a classical modular form of weight two.
