The paper math.AG/0108100 gives a construction of the total descendent potential corresponding to a semisimple Frobenius manifold. In math.AG/0209205, it is proved that the total descendent potential corresponding to K. Saito's Frobenius structure on the parameter space of the miniversal deformation of the A_{n-1}-singularity satisfies the modulo-n reduction of the KP-hierarchy. In this paper, we identify the hierarchy satisfied by the total descendent potential of a simple singularity of the A,D,E-type. Our description of the hierarchy is parallel to the vertex operator construction of Kac -- Wakimoto except that we give both some general integral formulas and explicit numerical values for certain coefficients which in the Kac -- Wakimoto theory are studied on a case-by-case basis and remain, generally speaking, unknown.
We show that the generating series of some Hodge integrals involving one or two partitions are tau-functions of the KP hierarchy or the 2-Toda hierarchy respectively. We also formulate a conjecture on the connection between relative invariants and integrable hierarchies. The conjecture is verified in some examples.
We prove that the genus-0 invariants in K-theoretic Gromov--Witten theory are governed by an integrable hierarchy of hydrodynamic type. If the K-theoretic quantum product is semisimple, then we also prove the completeness of the hierarchy.
We outline two approaches to the construction of integrable hierarchies associated with the theory of Gromov - Witten invariants of smooth projective varieties. We argue that a comparison of these two approaches yields nontrivial constraints on Chern numbers of varieties with semisimple quantum cohomology.

Various equivariant intersection numbers on Hilbert schemes of points on the affine plane are computed, some of which are organized into tau-functions of 2-Toda hierarchies. A correspondence between the equivariant intersection on Hilbert schemes and stationary Gromov-Witten theory is established.
For an arbitrary semisimple Frobenius manifold we construct Hodge integrable hierarchy of Hamiltonian partial differential equations. In the particular case of quantum cohomology the tau-function of a solution to the hierarchy generates the intersection numbers of the Gromov--Witten classes and their descendents along with the characteristic classes of Hodge bundles on the moduli spaces of stable maps. We introduce primitive forms with or without higher residue structure and explore their connection with the flat structures with or without a metric and integrable hierarchies of KdV type. We prove that the total descendant potential functions of the theory of Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten for D_4 with symmetry group <J> and D_4^T with symmetry group G_{max}, respectively, are both tau-functions of the D_4 Kac-Wakimoto/Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy. This completes the proof, begun in [FJR], of the Witten Integrable Hierarchies Conjecture for all simple (ADE) singularities.
We obtain variational formulas for holomorphic objects on Riemann surfaces with respect to arbitrary local coordinates on the moduli space of complex structures. These formulas are written in terms of a canonical object on the moduli space which corresponds to the pairing between the space of quadratic differentials and the tangent space to the moduli space. This canonical object satisfies certain commutation relations which appear to be the same as the ones that emerged in the integrability theory of Whitham type hierarchies. We show that reductions of KP hierarchies related to the loop algebra of $SL_n$ with homogeneous gradation give solutions of the Darboux-Egoroff system of PDE's. Using explicit dressing matrices of the Riemann-Hilbert problem generalized to include a set of commuting additional symmetries, we construct solutions of the Witten--Dijkgraaf--E. Verlinde--H. Verlinde equations.
We define the double ramification hierarchy associated to an F-cohomological field theory and use this construction to prove that the principal hierarchy of any semisimple (homogeneous) flat F-manifold possesses a (homogeneous) integrable dispersive deformation at all orders in the dispersion parameter. The proof is based on the reconstruction of an F-CohFT starting from a semisimple flat F-manifold and additional data in genus $1$, obtained in our previous work. We propose a new construction of an integrable hierarchy associated to any infinite series of Frobenius manifolds satisfying a certain stabilization condition. We study these hierarchies for Frobenius manifolds associated to $A_N$, $D_N$ and $B_N$ singularities. In the case of $A_N$ Frobenius manifolds our hierarchy turns out to coincide with the KP hierarchy; for $B_N$ Frobenius manifolds it coincides with the BKP hierarchy; and for $D_N$ hierarchy it is a certain reduction of the 2-component BKP hierarchy. We study the geometry of D-bundles--locally projective D-modules--on algebraic curves, and apply them to the study of integrable hierarchies, specifically the multicomponent Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) and spin Calogero-Moser (CM) hierarchies. We show that KP hierarchies have a geometric description as flows on moduli spaces of D-bundles; in particular, we prove that the local structure of D-bundles is captured by the full Sato Grassmannian. We investigate blowup formulae in Donaldson-Witten theory with gauge group SU(N), using the theory of hyperelliptic Kleinian functions. We find that the blowup function is a hyperelliptic sigma-function and we describe an explicit procedure to expand it in terms of the Casimirs of the gauge group up to arbitrary order. As a corollary, we obtain a new expression for the contact terms and we show that the correlation functions involving the exceptional divisor are governed by the KdV hierarchy. The $u$-plane integrals of topologically twisted $N = 2$ supersymmetric gauge theories generally contain contact terms of nonlocal topological observables. This paper proposes an interpretation of these contact terms from the point of view of integrable hierarchies and their Whitham deformations. In this paper we study various aspects of the double ramification (DR) hierarchy, introduced by the first author, and its quantization. We extend the notion of tau-symmetry to quantum integrable hierarchies and prove that the quantum DR hierarchy enjoys this property. We determine explicitly the genus $1$ quantum correction and, as an application, compute completely the quantization of the $3$- and $4$-KdV hierarchies (the DR hierarchies for Witten's $3$- and $4$-spin theories). We prove the genus zero part of the generalized Witten conjecture relating moduli spaces of spin curves to Gelfand-Dickey hierarchies. That is, we show that intersection numbers on the moduli space of stable r-spin curves assemble into a generating function which yields a solution of the semiclassical limit of the KdV_r equations. We formulate axioms for a cohomology class on this moduli space which allow one to construct a cohomological field theory of rank $r-1$ in all genera.
