The q-characters were introduced by Frenkel and mReshetikhin to study finite dimensional representations of the untwisted quantum affine algebra for q generic. The $ε$-characters at roots of unity were constructed by Frenkel and Mukhin to study finite dimensional representations of various specializations of the quantum affine algebra at $q^s=1$. In the finite simply laced case Nakajima defined deformations of q-characters called q,t-characters, for q generic and also at roots of unity. The definition is combinatorial but the proof of the existence uses the geometric theory of quiver varieties which holds only in the simply laced case. In math.QA/0212257 we proposed an algebraic general (non necessarily simply laced) new approach to q,t-characters for q generic. In this paper we treat the root of unity case. Moreover we construct q-characters and q,t-characters for a large class of generalized Cartan matrices (including finite and affine cases except $A_1^{(1)}$, $A_2^{(2)}$) by extending our algebraic approach. In particular we generalize the construction of Nakajima's Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials at roots of unity to those cases. We also study properties of various objects used in this article : deformed screening operators at roots of unity, t-deformed polynomial algebras, bicharacters arising from symmetrizable Cartan matrices, deformation of the Frenkel-Mukhin's algorithm.
Inspired by a profound observation on the Racah--Wigner coefficients of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$, the Askey--Wilson algebras were introduced in the early 1990s. A universal analog $\triangle_q$ of the Askey--Wilson algebras was recently studied. For $q$ not a root of unity, it is known that $Z(\triangle_q)$ is isomorphic to the polynomial ring of four variables. A presentation for $Z(\triangle_q)$ at $q$ a root of unity is displayed in this paper. As an application, a presentation for the center of the double affine Hecke algebra of type $(C_1^\vee,C_1)$ at roots of unity is obtained.
Properties of the $q$-ultraspherical polynomials for $q$ being a primitive root of unity are derived using a formalism of the $so_q(3)$ algebra. The orthogonality condition for these polynomials provides a new class of trigonometric identities representing discrete finite-dimensional analogs of $q$-beta integrals of Ramanujan.
The quantized flag manifold, which is a $q$-analogue of the ordinary flag manifold, is realized as a non-commutative scheme, and we can define the category of $D$-modules on it using the framework of non-commutative algebraic geometry; however, when the parameter $q$ is a root of unity, Lusztig's Frobenius morphism allows us to handle $D$-modules on the quantized flag manifold through modules over a certain sheaf of rings on the ordinary flag manifold. In this paper we will show that this sheaf of rings on the ordinary flag manifold is an Azumaya algebra over its center. We also show that its …
We give the complete set of irreducible representations of U(SU(2))_q when q is a m-th root of unity. In particular we show that their dimensions are less or equal to m. Some of them are not highest weight representations.
It was recently conjectured that the AGT correspondence between the $U(r)$-instanton counting on $\mathbb R^4/\mathbb Z_p$ and the two-dimensional field theories with the conformal symmetry algebra $\mathcal A(r,p)$ can be considered as a root of unity limit of its K-theoretic analogue. From this point of view, the algebra $\mathcal A(r,p)$ and a special basis in its representation are limits of the Ding-Iohara algebra and the Macdonald polynomials respectively. In this paper we confirm this conjecture for the special case $r=1$. We uncover the implicit $\mathcal A(1,p)$ symmetry in this limit…
An algebra of functions on q-deformed Anti-de Sitter space AdS_q^D is defined which is covariant under U_q(so(2,D-1)), for q a root of unity. The star-structure is studied in detail. The scalar fields have an intrinsic high-energy cutoff, and arise most naturally as fields on orbifolds AdS_q^D \times S^D/G if D is odd, and AdS_q^D \times S_χ^{2D-1}/G if D is even. Here G is a finite abelian group, and S_χ is a certain ``chiral sector'' of the classical sphere. Hilbert spaces of square integrable functions are discussed. Analogous results are found for the q-deformed sphere S_q^D.
We recall the relation between the Lie superalgebra $osp(1/2n)$ and para-Bose operators. The quantum superalgebra $U_q[osp(1/2n)]$, defined as usual in terms of its Chevalley generators, is shown to be isomorphic to an associative algebra generated by so-called pre-oscillator operators satisfying a number of relations. From these relations, and the analogue with the non-deformed case, one can interpret these pre-oscillator operators as deformed para-Bose operators. Some consequences for $U_q[osp(1/2n)]$ (Cartan-Weyl basis, Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt basis) and its Hopf subalgebra $U_q[gl(n)]$ are …
Motivated by recent advances in the categorification of quantum groups at prime roots of unity, we develop a theory of 2-representations for 2-categories enriched with a p-differential which satisfy finiteness conditions analogous to those of finitary or fiat 2-categories. We construct cell 2-representations in this setup, and consider 2-categories stemming from bimodules over a p-dg category in detail. This class is of particular importance in the categorification of quantum groups, which allows us to apply our results to cyclotomic quotients of the categorifications of small quantum group of…
We construct finite-dimensional irreducible representations of two quantum algebras related to the generalized Lie algebra $\ssll (2)_q$ introduced by Lyubashenko and the second named author. We consider separately the cases of $q$ generic and $q$ at roots of unity. Some of the representations have no classical analog even for generic $q$. Some of the representations have no analog to the finite-dimensional representations of the quantised enveloping algebra $U_q(sl(2))$, while in those that do there are different matrix elements.
We consider integrable vertex models whose Boltzmann weights (R-matrices) are trigonometric solutions to the graded Yang-Baxter equation. As is well known the latter can be generically constructed from quantum affine superalgebras $U_{q}(\hat g)$. These algebras do not form a symmetry algebra of the model for generic values of the deformation parameter $q$ when periodic boundary conditions are imposed. If $q$ is evaluated at a root of unity we demonstrate that in certain commensurate sectors one can construct non-abelian subalgebras which are translation invariant and supercommute with the tra…
In the case of Uq(sl(2,R)) at root of unity q-deformed analogues are proposed for the generator of the maximal compact subalgebra, J, and for the raising and lowering operators. We prove an algebraic identity which implies that J has similar properties as in the nondeformed case.
A Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand resolution for arbitrary Kac-Moody algebras and arbitrary subsets of the set of simple roots is proven. Moreover, quantum group analogs of the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand resolution for symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras are established. For quantized enveloping algebras with fixed complex nonzero deformation parameter q exactness is proven for all q which are not a root of unity.
Analogously to the construction of Suzuki and Vazirani, we construct representations of the $GL_m$-type Double Affine Hecke Algebra at roots of unity. These representations are graded and the weight spaces for the $X$-variables are parametrized by the combinatorial objects we call doubly periodic tableaux. We show that our representations exhaust all graded $X$-semisimple representations, and the direct sum of all our representations is faithful. Analogously to the construction of Jordan and Vazirani of rectangular DAHA representations, we show that our representations can be interpreted in te…
The goal of this paper is to classify ``finite subgroups in U_q sl(2)'' where $q=e^{\piı/l}$ is a root of unity. We propose a definition of such a subgroup in terms of the category of representations of U_q sl(2); we show that this definition is a natural generalization of the notion of a subgroup in a reductive group, and that it is also related with extensions of the chiral (vertex operator) algebra corresponding to sl^(2) at level k=l-2. We show that ``finite subgroups in U_q sl(2)'' are classified by Dynkin diagrams of types A_n, D_{2n}, E_6, E_8 with Coxeter number equal to $l$, give a de…
The quantum Frobenius map and it splitting are shown to descend to corresponding maps for generalized $q$-Schur algebras at a root of unity. We also define analogs of $q$-Schur algebras for any affine algebra, and prove the corresponding results for them.
Let us consider a specialization of an untwisted quantum affine algebra of type $ADE$ at a nonzero complex number, which may or may not be a root of unity. The Grothendieck ring of its finite dimensional representations has two bases, simple modules and standard modules. We identify entries of the transition matrix with special values of ``computable'' polynomials, similar to Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. At the same time we ``compute'' $q$-characters for all simple modules. The result is based on ``computations'' of Betti numbers of graded/cyclic quiver varieties. (The reason why we put `` '' …
We prove the analog of Kostant's Theorem on Lie algebra cohomology in the context of quantum groups. We prove that Kostant's cohomology formula holds for quantum groups at a generic parameter $q$, recovering an earlier result of Malikov in the case where the underlying semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{sl}(n)$. We also show that Kostant's formula holds when $q$ is specialized to an $\ell$-th root of unity for odd $\ell \ge h-1$ (where $h$ is the Coxeter number of $\mathfrak{g}$) when the highest weight of the coefficient module lies in the lowest alcove. This can be regarded as …
The category of finite dimensional module over the quantum superalgebra U_q(sl(2|1)) is not semi-simple and the quantum dimension of a generic U_q(sl(2|1))-module vanishes. This vanishing happens for any value of q (even when q is not a root of unity). These properties make it difficult to create a fusion or modular category. Loosely speaking, the standard way to obtain such a category from a quantum group is: 1) specialize q to a root of unity; this forces some modules to have zero quantum dimension, 2) quotient by morphisms of modules with zero quantum dimension, 3) show the resulting catego…
We propose in this paper a Galois theory of $q$-difference equations where q is a root of unity. This theory is the q difference analogue of the Galois theory of iterative differential equations, that is differential equations over fields of positive characteristic. This theory contains and generalizes the Galois theory of q difference equations developed by Singer and van der Put.
The structure of irreducible representations of (restricted) U_q(sl(3)) at roots of unity is understood within the Gelfand--Zetlin basis. The latter needs a weakened definition for non integrable representations, where the quadratic Casimir operator of the quantum subalgebra U_q(sl(2)) of U_q(sl(3)) is not completely diagonalized. This is necessary in order to take in account the indecomposable U_q(sl(2))-modules that appear. The set of redefined (mixed) states has a teepee shape inside the pyramid made with the whole representation.
The spectra of recently constructed auxiliary matrices for the six-vertex model respectively the spin s=1/2 Heisenberg chain at roots of unity q^N=1 are investigated. Two conjectures are formulated both of which are proven for N=3 and are verified numerically for several examples with N>3. The first conjecture identifies an abelian subset of auxiliary matrices whose eigenvalues are polynomials in the spectral variable. The zeroes of these polynomials are shown to fall into two sets. One consists of the solutions to the Bethe ansatz equations which determine the eigenvalues of the six-vertex tr…
In this thesis, the connection between recently introduced algebraic structures (tridiagonal algebra, $q$-Onsager algebra, generalized $q-$Onsager algebras), related representation theory (tridiagonal pair, Leonard pair, orthogonal polynomials), some properties of these algebras and the analysis of related quantum integrable models on the lattice (the $XXZ$ open spin chain at roots of unity) is first reviewed. Then, the main results of the thesis are described: (i) for the class of $q-$Onsager algebras associated with $\widehat{sl_2}$ and ADE type simply-laced affine Lie algebras, higher order…
A deformed $q$-calculus is developed on the basis of an algebraic structure involving graded brackets. A number operator and left and right shift operators are constructed for this algebra, and the whole structure is related to the algebra of a $q$-deformed boson. The limit of this algebra when $q$ is a $n$-th root of unity is also studied in detail. By means of a chain rule expansion, the left and right derivatives are identified with the charge $Q$ and covariant derivative $D$ encountered in ordinary/fractional supersymmetry and this leads to new results for these operators. A generalized Be…
We prove that the Hall algebra U^-_n of the cyclic quiver of type A^(1)_{n-1} decomposes as a direct product of the quantum negative nilpotent subalgebra U_q^-(\hat{sl}_{n)) and C[q,q^{-1},z_1,z_2...]. We use this to prove a conjecture of Varagnolo and Vasserot in math/9803023 relating the canonical basis of U^-_n and the canonical basis of the level 1 Fock space representation of U_q(\hat{sl}_n) introduced by Leclerc and Thibon. This yields a proof of the positivity conjecture of Lascoux, Leclerc and Thibon, and a q-analogue of the Lusztig character formula for simple modules of the quantum g…
We introduce a rigid analytification of the quantized coordinate algebra of a semisimple algebraic group and a quantized Arens-Michael envelope of the enveloping algebra of the corresponding Lie algebra, working over a non-archimedean field and when $q$ is not a root of unity. We show that these analytic quantum groups are topological Hopf algebras and Fréchet-Stein algebras. We then introduce an analogue of the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$ for the quantum Arens-Michael envelope and show that it is equivalent to the category $\mathcal{O}$ for the corresponding quantized enveloping algebra.
Quantum toroidal algebras (or double affine quantum algebras) are defined from quantum affine Kac-Moody algebras by using the Drinfeld quantum affinization process. They are quantum groups analogs of elliptic Cherednik algebras (elliptic double affine Hecke algebras) to whom they are related via Schur-Weyl duality. In this review paper, we give a glimpse on some aspects of their very rich representation theory in the context of general quantum affinizations. We illustrate with several examples. We also announce new results and explain possible further developments, in particular on finite dime…
A deformation of the harmonic oscillator algebra associated with the Morse potential and the SU(2) algebra is derived using the quantum analogue of the anharmonic oscillator. We use the quantum oscillator algebra or $q$-boson algebra which is a generalisation of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra obtained by introducing a deformation parameter $q$. Further, we present a new algebraic realization of the $q$-bosons, for the case of $q$ being a root of unity, which corresponds to a periodic structure described by a finite-dimensional representation. We show that this structure represents the symmetry of…
Let H be a Hopf algebra which is a finite module over a central sub-Hopf algebra R. The ramification behaviour of the maximal ideals of Z(H) with respect to the subalgebra R is studied. In the case when H is U(g), the enveloping algebra of a semisimple Lie algebra g, a conjecture of Humphreys is confirmed. In the case when H is the quantised enveloping algebra of g at a root of unity we obtain quantum analogues of result of a Mirkovic and Rumynin, we fully describe the reduced factor algebras over the regular sheet and the blocks of H are determined.
Let $q$ be an $n^{th}$ root of unity for $n > 2$ and let $T_n(q)$ be the Taft (Hopf) algebra of dimension $n^2$. In 2001, Susan Montgomery and Hans-Jürgen Schneider classified all non-trivial $T_n(q)$-module algebra structures on an $n$-dimensional associative algebra $A$. They further showed that each such module structure extends uniquely to make $A$ a module algebra over the Drinfel'd double of $T_n(q)$. We explore what it is about the Taft algebras that leads to this uniqueness, by examining actions of (the Drinfel'd double of) Hopf algebras $H$ "close" to the Taft algebras on finite-dimen…
Let $P_J$ be the standard parabolic subgroup of $SL_n$ obtained by deleting a subset $J$ of negative simple roots, and let $P_J = L_JU_J$ be the standard Levi decomposition. Following work of the first author, we study the quantum analogue $θ: {\mathcal O}_q(P_J) \to{\mathcal O}_q(L_J) \otimes {\mathcal O}_q(P_J)$ of an induced coaction and the corresponding subalgebra ${\mathcal O}_q(P_J)^{\operatorname{co} θ} \subseteq {\mathcal O}_q(P_J)$ of coinvariants. It was shown that the smash product algebra ${\mathcal O}_q(L_J)\# {\mathcal O}_q(P_J)^{\operatorname{co} θ}$ is isomorphic to ${\mathcal…
We prove the Berenstein-Zelevinsky conjecture that the quantized coordinate rings of the double Bruhat cells of all finite dimensional simple algebraic groups admit quantum cluster algebra structures with initial seeds as specified by [4]. We furthermore prove that the corresponding upper quantum cluster algebras coincide with the constructed quantum cluster algebras and exhibit a large number of explicit quantum seeds. Along the way a detailed study of the properties of quantum double Bruhat cells from the viewpoint of noncommutative UFDs is carried out and a quantum analog of the Fomin-Zelev…
For the nonstandard $q$-deformed algebras $U_q(so_n)$, defined recently in terms of trilinear relations for generating elements, most general finite dimensional irreducible representations directly corresponding to those of nondeformed algebras $so(n)$ (i.e., characterized by the same sets of only integers or only half-integers as in highest weights of the latter) are given explicitly in a $q$-analogue of Gel'fand-Tsetlin basis. Detailed proof, for $q$ not equal to a root of unity, that representation operators indeed satisfy relevant (trilinear) relations and define finite dimensional irreduc…
We study the $q$-analogue of the Haldane-Shastry model, a partially isotropic (XXZ-like) long-range spin chain that enjoys quantum-affine (really: quantum-loop) symmetries at finite size. We derive the pairwise form of the Hamiltonian, found by one of us building on work of Uglov, via 'freezing' from the affine Hecke algebra. We obtain explicit expressions for the spin-analogue of Macdonald operators. Through freezing these yield the higher Hamiltonians of the spin chain, including a Hamiltonian of the opposite chirality. The sum of the two chiral Hamiltonians has a real spectrum also for $q$ …
