Given a positive singular hermitian metric of a pseudoeffective line bundle on a complex Kaehler manifold, a singular foliation is constructed satisfying certain analytic analogues of numerical conditions. This foliation refines Tsuji's numerically trivial fibration and the Iitaka fibration. Using almost positive singular hermitian metrics with analytic singularities on a pseudo-effective line bundle, a foliation is constructed refining the nef fibration. If the singularities of the foliation are isolated points, the codimension of the leaves is an upper bound to the numerical dimension of the line bundle, and the foliation can be interpreted as a geometric reason for the deviation of nef and Kodaira-Iitaka dimension. Several surface examples are studied in more details, $\mathbb{P}^2$ blown up in 9 points giving a counter example to equality of numerical dimension and codimension of the leaves.
In this article, we describe the structure of codimension one foliations with canonical singularities and numerically trivial canonical class on varieties with terminal singularities, extending a result of Loray, Pereira and Touzet to this context.
Modifying the notion of numerically trivial foliation of a pseudo-effective line bundle L introduced by the author in math.AG/0304312 it can be shown that the leaves of this foliation have codimension bigger or equal to the numerical dimension of L as defined by Boucksom, Demailly, Paun and Peternell, math.AG/0405285. Furthermore, if the Kodaira dimension of L equals its numerical dimension the Kodaira-Iitaka fibration is its numerically trivial foliation. Both statements together yield a sufficient criterion for L not being abundant.
In this article, we give the structure of codimension one foliations with canonical singularities and numerically trivial canonical class on varieties with klt singularities. Building on recent works of Spicer, Cascini - Spicer and Spicer - Svaldi, we then describe the birational geometry of rank two foliations with canonical singularities and canonical class of numerical dimension zero on complex projective threefolds.
Given a reflexive sheaf on a mildly singular projective variety, we prove a flatness criterion under certain stability conditions. This implies the algebraicity of leaves for sufficiently stable foliations with numerically trivial canonical bundle such that the second Chern class does not vanish. Combined with the recent work of Druel and Greb-Guenancia-Kebekus this establishes the Beauville-Bogomolov decomposition for minimal models with trivial canonical class.
We classify the irreducible components of the space of foliations on Fano 3-folds with rank one Picard group. As a corollary we obtain a classification of holomorphic Poisson structures on the same class of 3-folds.
In this work, we study dominant rational maps preserving singular holomorphic codimension one foliations on projective manifolds and that exhibit non-trivial transverse dynamics.
In this paper we study the formal classication of two-dimensional neighborhoods of genus g $\ge$ 2 curves with trivial normal bundle. We first construct formal foliations on such neighborhoods with holonomy vanishing along many loops, then give the formal/analytic classication of neighborhoods equipped with two foliations, and finally put this together to obtain a description of the space of neighborhoods up to formal equivalence.
We show that an everywhere regular foliation $\mathcal F$ with compact canonically polarized leaves on a quasi-projective manifold $X$ has isotrivial family of leaves when the orbifold base of this family is special. By a recent work of Berndtsson, Paun and Wang, the same proof works in the case where the leaves have trivial canonical bundle. The specialness condition means that the $p$-th exterior power of the logarithmic extension of its conormal bundle does not contain any rank-one subsheaf of maximal Kodaira dimension $p$, for any $p>0$. This condition is satisfied, for example, in the ver…

In this paper, we prove the abundance theorem for numerically trivial canonical divisors on strongly $F$-regular varieties, assuming that the geometric generic fibers of the Albanese morphisms are strongly $F$-regular.
We characterize property $(N_p)$ on a polarized surface $(X,L)$ with trivial canonical bundle in terms of the (non)existence of certain forbidden subvarieties of $X$.
We investigate the structure of geometrically ruled surfaces whose anti-canonical class is big. As an application we show that the Picard group of a normal projective surface whose anti-canonical class is nef and big is a free abelian group of finite rank.
We prove a Fujita-type theorem for varieties with numerically trivial canonical bundle using properties of semihomogeneous bundles on abelian varieties. We combine our results with work of Riess on compact hyperkähler manifolds and work of Mukai, Pareschi and Yoshioka to obtain effective global generation statements for certain moduli spaces of sheaves on abelian surfaces. Among these is the statment that if $\cL$ is an ample line bundle on the Hilbert square $S^{[2]}$ of an abelian surface $S,$ then $\cL^{\otimes m}$ is globally generated for $m \geq 3.$
An automorphism of an algebraic surface $S$ is called cohomologically (numerically) trivial if it acts identically on the second $l$-adic cohomology group (this group modulo torsion subgroup). Extending the results of S. Mukai and Y. Namikawa to arbitrary characteristic $p > 0$, we prove that the group of cohomologically trivial automorphisms $\rm{Aut}_{\rm{ct}}(S)$ of an Enriques surface $S$ is of order $\leq 2$ if $S$ is not supersingular. If $p = 2$ and $S$ is supersingular, we show that $\rm{Aut}_{\rm{ct}}(S)$ is a cyclic group of odd order $n\in \{1,2,3,5,7,11\}$ or the quaternion group $…
In this paper, we prove that the group $\mathrm{Aut}_\mathbb{Q}(X)$ of numerically trivial automorphisms are uniformly bounded for smooth projective threefolds $X$ of general type which either satisfy $q(X)\geq 3$ or have a Gorenstein minimal model. If $X$ is furthermore of maximal Albanese dimension, then $|\mathrm{Aut}_\mathbb{Q}(X)|\leq 4$, and equality can be achieved by an unbounded family of threefolds previously constructed by the third author. Along the way we prove a Noether type inequality for log canonical pairs of general type with the coefficients of the boundary divisor from a gi…
For a minimal $3$-fold $X$ with $K_X\equiv 0$ and a nef and big Weil divisor $L$ on $X$, we investigate the birational geometry inspired by $L$. We prove that $|mL|$ and $|K_X+mL|$ give birational maps for all $m\geq 17$. The result remains true under weaker assumption that $L$ is big and has no stable base components.
In this paper, we study almost nef regular foliations. We give a structure theorem of a smooth projective variety $X$ with an almost nef regular foliation $\mathcal{F}$: $X$ admits a smooth morphism $f: X \rightarrow Y$ with rationally connected fibers such that $\mathcal{F}$ is a pullback of a numerically flat regular foliation on $Y$. Moreover, $f$ is characterized as a relative MRC fibration of an algebraic part of $\mathcal{F}$. As a corollary, an almost nef tangent bundle of a rationally connected variety is generically ample. For the proof, we generalize Fujita's decomposition theorem. A…
Let f: X \to Z be a surjective morphism of smooth complex projective varieties with connected fibers. Suppose that L is a pseudo-effective divisor on X that is f-numerically trivial. We show that there is a divisor D on Z such that L is numerically equivalent to f^*D.
We prove that for a smooth projective irregular $3$-fold $X$ with $K_X\equiv 0$ and a nef and big divisor $L$ on $X$, $|mL+P|$ gives a birational map for all $m\geq 3$ and all $P\in \text{Pic}^0(X)$. We also use the same method to deal with $4$-folds, and prove that for a smooth projective irregular $4$-fold $X$ with $K_X\equiv 0$ and an ample divisor $L$ on $X$, $|mL+P|$ gives a birational map for all $m\geq 5$ and all $P\in \text{Pic}^0(X)$. These results are also optimal.
Let $(X,0)$ be an isolated complete intersection complex singularity ($X$ can also be smooth at 0). Let $K$ be its link, $\cal X$ its canonical contact structure and $\D_X$ the complex vector bundle associated to $\cal X$. We prove that the bundle $\D_X$ is trivial if and only if the Milnor number of $X$ satisfies $μ(X,0) \equiv (-1)^{n-1}$ modulo $(n-1)!$. This follows from a general theorem stating that the complex orthogonal complement of a vector field in $X$ with an isolated singularity at 0 is trivial iff the GSV-index of $v$ is a multiple of $(n-1)!$. We have also an application to foli…
We study the Gromov-Witten and Donaldson-Thomas correspondence conjectured in [MNOP1, MNOP2], for trivial elliptic fibrations. In particular, we verify the Gromov-Witten and Donaldson-Thomas correspondence for primary fields when the threefold is $E \times S$ where $E$ is a smooth elliptic curve and $S$ is a smooth surface with numerically trivial canonical class.
We consider classes of noncompact n-folds with trivial canonical bundle, that are linear foliations on nonsingular projective varieties, in general without a projection to the base. We obtain them as first-order deformations of total spaces of vector bundles on those varieties.
We sketch a proof of the abundance conjecture that the Kodaira dimension of a compact complex algebraic manifold equals its numerical Kodaira dimension. The proof consists of the following three parts: (i) the case of numerical Kodaira dimension zero, (ii) the general case under the assumption of the coincidence of the numerically trivial foliation and fibration for the canonical bundle, and (iii) the verification of the coincidence of the numerically trivial foliation and fibration for the canonical bundle. Besides the use of standard techniques such as the L2 estimates of d-bar, the first pa…
In this paper we partly extend the Beauville-Bogomolov decomposition theorem to the singular setting. We show that any complex projective variety of dimension at most five with canonical singularities and numerically trivial canonical class admits a finite cover, étale in codimension one, that decomposes as a product of an Abelian variety, and singular analogues of irreducible Calabi-Yau and irreducible holomorphic symplectic varieties.
Campana introduced the class of special varieties as the varieties admitting no Bogomolov sheaves i.e. rank one coherent subsheaves of maximal Kodaira dimension in some exterior power of the cotangent bundle. Campana raised the question if one can replace the Kodaira dimension by the numerical dimension in this characterization. We answer partially this question showing that a projective manifold admitting a rank one coherent subsheaf of the cotangent bundle with numerical dimension 1 is not special. We also establish the analytic characterization with the non-existence of Zariski dense entire…
The Reduction Map Theorem in H. Tsuji's work on numerical trivial fibrations is corrected and proven. To this purpose various definitions of Tsuji's new intersection numbers for pseudo-effective line bundles equipped with a positive singular hermitian metric are compared and their equivalence on sufficiently general smooth curves is shown. Numerically trivial varieties are characterized by a decomposition property of the curvature current. An important adjustment to the Reduction Map Theorem is to consider the fact that plurisubharmonic functions are singular on pluripolar sets.
We develop an intersection theory for a singular hemitian line bundle with positive curvature current on a smooth projective variety and irreducible curves on the variety. And we prove the existence of a natural rational fibration structure associated with the singular hermitian line bundle. Also for any pseudoeffective line bundle on a smooth projective variety, we prove the existence of a rational natural fibration structure associated with the line bundle. We also characterize a numerically trivial singular hermitain line bundle on a smooth projective variety.
We study very basic slc-trivial fibrations. We show that restricting on any lc center of a very basic slc-trivial fibration, its moduli part is numerically trivial if and only if it is $\mathbb Q$-linearly trivial. We then prove that abundance conjecture for very basic slc-trivial fibrations holds true in dimension two when the moduli part is $\mathbb Q$-Cartier. As an application, we prove that the log canonical ring of a projective plt pair with Kodaira dimension 3 is finitely generated.
We study duality spectral sequences for Weierstrass fibrations. Using these spectral sequences, we show that on a K-trivial Weierstrass threefold over a K-numerically trivial surface, any line bundle of nonzero fiber degree is taken by a Fourier-Mukai transform to a slope stable locally free sheaf.
We extend the decomposition theorem for numerically $K$-trivial varieties with log terminal singularities to the Kähler setting. Along the way we prove that all such varieties admit a strong locally trivial algebraic approximation, thus completing the numerically $K$-trivial case of a conjecture of Campana and Peternell.

Consider a normal complex analytic surface singularity. It is called Gorenstein if the canonical line bundle is holomorphically trivial in some punctured neighborhood of the singular point and is called numerically Gorenstein if this line bundle is topologically trivial. The second notion depends only on the topological type of the singularity. Laufer proved in 1977 that, given a numerically Gorenstein topological type of singularity, every analytical realization of it is Gorenstein if and only if one has either a Kleinian or a minimally elliptic topological type. The question to know if any n…
The classical Beauville-Bogomolov Decomposition Theorem asserts that any compact Kähler manifold with numerically trivial canonical bundle admits an étale cover that decomposes into a product of a torus, and irreducible, simply-connected Calabi-Yau-- and holomorphic-symplectic manifolds. The decomposition of the simply-connected part corresponds to a decomposition of the tangent bundle into a direct sum whose summands are integrable and stable with respect to any polarisation. Building on recent extension theorems for differential forms on singular spaces, we prove an analogous decomposition t…
