We study two kinds of transformation groups of a compact locally conformally Kahler (l.c.K.) manifold. First we study compact l.c.K. manifolds with parallel Lee form by means of the existence of a holomorphic l.c.K. flow. Next, we introduce the Lee-Cauchy-Riemann (LCR) transformations as a class of diffeomorphisms preserving the specific G-structure of l.c.K. manifolds. We show that compact l.c.K. manifolds admitting a non-compact CC^* flow of LCR transformations are rigid: it is holomorphically conformal to a Hopf manifold with parallel Lee form.
We prove that locally conformally Kähler metrics on certain compact complex surfaces with odd first Betti number can be deformed to new examples of bi-Hermitian metrics.
We characterize the existence of a locally conformally Kähler metric on a compact complex manifold in terms of currents, adapting the celebrated result of Harvey and Lawson for Kähler metrics.
The local structure of 4-dimensional, conformally flat, almost $ε$-Kählerian (i.e., almost pseudo-Kählerian and almost para-Kählerian) manifolds is characterized with the help of left-regular and right-regular paraquaternionic functions. Examples of such structures are discussed.
We consider several transformation groups of a locally conformally Kähler manifold and discuss their inter-relations. Among other results, we prove that all conformal vector fields on a compact Vaisman manifold which is neither locally conformally hyperkähler nor a diagonal Hopf manifold are Killing, holomorphic and that all affine vector fields with respect to the minimal Weyl connection of a locally conformally Kähler manifold which is neither Weyl-reducible nor locally conformally hyperkähler are holomorphic and conformal
A locally conformally Kähler (LCK) manifold is a complex manifold covered by a Kähler manifold, with the covering group acting by homotheties. We show that if such a compact manifold X admits a holomorphic submersion with positive dimensional fibers at least one of which is of Kähler type, then X is globally conformally Kähler or biholomorphic, up to finite covers, to a Vaisman manifold (i.e. a mapping torus over a circle, with Sasakian fibre). As a consequence, we show that the product between a compact non-Kähler LCK and a compact Kähler manifold cannot carry a LCK metric.
While the Anomaly flow was originally motivated by string theory, its zero slope case is potentially of considerable interest in non-Kahler geometry, as it is a flow of conformally balanced metrics whose stationary points are precisely Kahler metrics. We establish its convergence on Kahler manifolds for suitable initial data. We also discuss its relation to some current problems in complex geometry.
In this paper we generalize the basic Lichnerowicz cohomology on transversally locally conformally Kählerian foliations and we study its relation with basic Bott-Chern cohomology and $0$--th basic Dolbeault cohomology with values in the associated foliated weight bundle.
We prove that every compact complex surface with odd first Betti number admits a locally conformally symplectic $2$-form which tames the underlying almost complex structure.
A Hermitian structure on a manifold is called locally conformally Kähler (LCK) if it locally admits a conformal change which is Kähler. In this survey we review recent results of invariant LCK structures on solvmanifolds and present original results regarding the canonical bundle of solvmanifolds equipped with a Vaisman structure, that is, a LCK structure whose associated Lee form is parallel.
We study compact toric strict locally conformally Kähler manifolds. We show that the Kodaira dimension of the underlying complex manifold is $-\infty$ and that the only compact complex surfaces admitting toric strict locally conformally Kähler metrics are the diagonal Hopf surfaces. We also show that every toric Vaisman manifold has lcK rank 1 and is isomorphic to the mapping torus of an automorphism of a toric compact Sasakian manifold.
A locally conformally Kähler (lcK) manifold is a complex manifold $(M,J)$ together with a Hermitian metric $g$ which is conformal to a Kähler metric in the neighbourhood of each point. In this paper we obtain three classification results in locally conformally Kähler geometry. The first one is the classification of conformal classes on compact manifolds containing two non-homothetic Kähler metrics. The second one is the classification of compact Einstein locally conformally Kähler manifolds. The third result is the classification of the possible (restricted) Riemannian holonomy groups of compa…
Conformally Kähler, Einstein-Maxwell metrics and $f$-extremal metrics are generalization of canonical metrics in Kähler geometry. We introduce uniform K-stability for toric Kähler manifolds, and show that uniform K-stability is necessary condition for the existence of $f$-extremal metrics on toric manifolds. Furthermore, we show that uniform K-stability is equivalent to properness of relative K-energy.
It is known that automorphism group $G$ of a compact homogeneous locally conformally Kähler manifold $M=G/H$ has at least a 1-dimensional center. We prove that the center of $G$ is at most 2-dimensional, and that if its dimension is 2, then $M$ is Vaisman and isometric to a mapping torus of an isometry of a homogeneous Sasakian manifold.

We define a partition of the space of projectively flat metrics in three classes according to the sign of the Chern scalar curvature; we prove that the class of negative projectively flat metrics is empty, and that the class of positive projectively flat metrics consists precisely of locally conformally flat-Kähler metrics on Hopf manifolds, explicitly characterized by Vaisman. Finally, we review the properties of zero projectively flat metrics. As applications, we refine a list of possible projectively flat metrics by Li, Yau, and Zheng; moreover we prove that projectively flat astheno-Kähler…
Let $(M,g)$ be a compact Kähler manifold and $f$ a positive smooth function such that its Hamiltonian vector field $K = J\mathrm{grad}_g f$ for the Kähler form $ω_g$ is a holomorphic Killing vector field. We say that the pair $(g,f)$ is conformally Einstein-Maxwell Kähler metric if the conformal metric $\tilde g = f^{-2}g$ has constant scalar curvature. In this paper we prove a reductiveness result of the reduced Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for conformally Einstein-Maxwell Kähler manifolds, extending the Lichnerowicz-Matsushima Theorem for constant scalar curvature Kähler manifold…
We classify and investigate locally conformally Kähler structures on four-dimensional solvable Lie algebras up to linear equivalence. As an application we can produce many examples in higher dimension, here including lcK structures on Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds, and we also give a geometric interpretation of some of the $4$-dimensional structures in our classification.
Let $M^{2n}$ be a compact Riemannian manifold of non-positive (resp. negative) sectional curvature. We call $(M,J,θ)$ a $d$(bounded) locally conformally Kähler manifold if the lifted Lee form $\tildeθ$ on the universal covering space of $M$ is $d$(bounded). We shown that if $M^{2n}$ is homeomorphic to a $d$(bounded) LCK manifold, then its Euler number satisfies the inequality $(-1)^{n}χ(M^{2n})\geq$ (resp. $>$) $0$.
In this paper we study an integral invariant which obstructs the existence on a compact complex manifold of a volume form with the determinant of its Ricci form proportional to itself, in particular obstructs the existence of a Kähler-Einstein metric, and has been studied since 1980's. We study this invariant from the view point of locally conformally Kähler geometry. We first see that we can define an integral invariant for coverings of compact complex manifolds with automorphic volume forms. This situation typically occurs for locally conformally Kähler manifolds. Secondly, we see that this …
We study the interplay between the following types of special non-Kähler Hermitian metrics on compact complex manifolds: it locally conformally Kähler, $k$-Gauduchon, balanced and locally conformally balanced and prove that a locally conformally Kähler compact nilmanifold carrying a balanced or a $k$-Gauduchon metric is necessarily a torus. Combined with a result of Fino and Vezzoni from 2016, this leads to the fact that a compact complex 2-step nilmanifold endowed with whichever two of the following types of metrics: balanced, pluriclosed and locally conformally Kähler is a torus. Moreover, w…
We study left-invariant locally conformally Kähler structures on Lie groups, or equivalently, on Lie algebras. We give some properties of these structures in general, and then we consider the special cases when its complex structure is bi-invariant or abelian. In the former case, we show that no such Lie algebra is unimodular, while in the latter, we prove that if the Lie algebra is unimodular, then it is isomorphic to the product of $\mathbb R$ and a Heisenberg Lie algebra.
On a 3-manifold bounding a compact 4-manifold, let a conformal structure be induced from a complete Einstein metric which conformally compactifies to a Kähler metric. Formulas are derived for the eta invariant of this conformal structure under additional assumptions. One such assumption is that the Kähler metric admits a special Kähler-Ricci potential in the sense defined by Derdzinski and Maschler. Another is that the Kähler metric is part of an ambitoric structure, in the sense defined by Apostolov, Calderbank and Gauduchon, as well as a toric one. The formulas are derived using the Duisterm…
In the first part of this note we study compact Riemannian manifolds (M,g) whose Riemannian product with R is conformally Einstein. We then consider compact 6--dimensional almost Hermitian manifolds of type W_1+W_4 in the Gray--Hervella classification admitting a parallel vector field and show that (under some regularity assumption) they are obtained as mapping tori of isometries of compact Sasaki-Einstein 5-dimensional manifolds. In particular, we obtain examples of inhomogeneous locally (non-globally) conformal nearly Kähler compact manifolds.
We characterize compact locally conformally Kähler (l.c.K.) manifolds under the assumption of a purely conformal, holomorphic circle action. As an application, we determine the structure of the compact l.c.K. manifolds with parallel Lee form. We introduce the Lee-Cauchy-Riemann (LCR) transformations as a class of diffeomorphisms preserving the specific $G$-structure of l.c.K. manifolds. Then we characterize the Hopf manifolds, up to holomorphic isometry, as compact l.c.K. manifolds admitting a certain closed LCR action of $\mathbb{C}^*$.
We prove that a compact lcK manifold with holomorphic Lee vector field is Vaisman provided that either the Lee field has constant norm or the metric is Gauduchon (i.e., the Lee field is divergence-free). We also give examples of compact lcK manifolds with holomorphic Lee vector field which are not Vaisman.
On a given compact complex manifold or orbifold $(M,J)$, we study the existence of Hermitian metrics $\tilde g$ in the conformal classes of Kähler metrics on $(M,J)$, such that the Ricci tensor of $\tilde g$ is of type $(1,1)$ with respect to the complex structure, and the scalar curvature of $\tilde g$ is constant. In real dimension $4$, such Hermitian metrics provide a Riemannian counter-part of the Einstein--Maxwell (EM) equations in general relativity, and have been recently studied in \cite{ambitoric1, LeB0, LeB, KTF}. We show how the existence problem of such Hermitian metrics (which we …
We show that a statistical manifold manifold of a constant non-zero curvature can be realised as a level line of Hessian potential on a Hessian cone. We construct a Sasakian structure on $TM\times\R$ by a statistical manifold manifold of a constant non-zero curvature on $M$. By a statistical Lie algebra of a constant non-zero Lie algebra we construct a l.c.K Lie algebra.
We give conditions on the Lee vector field of an almost Hermitian manifold such that any holomorphic map from this manifold into a (1,2)-symplectic manifold must satisfy the fourth-order condition of being biharmonic, hence generalizing the Lichnerowicz theorem on harmonic maps. These third-order non-linear conditions are shown to greatly simplify on l.c.K. manifolds and construction methods and examples are given in all dimensions.
We give a mostly self-contained proof of the classification of non-Kahler surfaces based on Buchdahl-Lamari theorem. We also prove that all non-Kahler surfaces which are not of class VII are locally conformally Kahler.
Let $(M,\nabla,g)$ be a Hessian manifold. Then the total space of the tangent bundle $TM$ can be endowed with a Kähler structure $\left(I,{\cal g}\right)$. We say that a homogeneous Hessian manifold is a Hessian manifold $(M,\nabla,g)$ endowed with a transitive action of a group $G$ preserving $\nabla$ and $g$. If $(M,\nabla,g)$ is a simply connected homogeneous Hessian manifold for a group $G$ then we construct an action of the group $G\ltimes_θ\mathbb{R}^n$ on $TM=M\times \mathbb{R}^n$ such that $\left(TM,I,g\right)$ is a homogeneous Kähler manifold for the group $G\ltimes_θ\mathbb{R}^n$. A …
We prove that a compact toric locally conformally Kähler manifold which is not Kähler admits a toric Vaisman structure, a fact which was conjectured in \cite{mmp}. This is the final step leading to the classification of compact toric locally conformally Kähler manifolds started in \cite{p} and \cite{mmp}. We also show, by constructing an example, that unlike in the symplectic case, toric locally conformally symplectic manifolds are not necessarily toric locally conformally Kähler.
The paper is part of an attempt of understanding non-Kähler threefolds. We start by looking at compact complex non-Kähler threefolds with algebraic dimension two and admitting locally conformally Kähler metrics. Under certain assumptions, we prove that they are blown-up quasi-bundles over a projective surface.
We present an overview of recent results in locally conformally Kähler geometry, with focus on the topological properties which obstruct the existence of such structures on compact manifolds.
The subject of this paper is the explicit momentum construction of complete Einstein metrics by ODE methods. Using the Calabi ansatz, further generalized by Hwang-Singer, we show that there are non-trivial complete conformally Kähler Einstein metrics on certain Hermitian holomorphic vector bundles and their subbundles over complete Kähler-Einstein manifolds. In special cases, we give the explicit expressions of of these metrics. These examples show that there is a compact Kähler manifold $M$ and its subvariety $N$ whose codimension is greater than 1 such that there is a complete conformally Kä…
I present a selection of results on locally conformally Kähler geometry published after 1997. The proofs are mainly sketched, some of them are even omitted. Several open problems are indicated in the end.
In this paper, we study the properties of coverings of locally conformally Kähler (LCK) spaces with singularities. We begin by proving that a space is LCK if any only if its universal cover is Kähler, thereby generalizing a result from a previous paper. We then show that a complex space which projects over an LCK space with discrete fibers must also carry an LCK structure.
We prove that the parabolic flow of conformally balanced metrics introduced by Phong, Picard and Zhang in "A flow of conformally balanced metrics with Kähler fixed points", is stable around Calabi-Yau metrics. The result shows that the flow can converge on a Kähler manifold even if the initial metric is not conformally Kähler.
A manifold $M$ is locally conformally Kahler (LCK) if it admits a Kahler covering with monodromy acting by holomorphic homotheties. Let $M$ be an LCK manifold admitting a holomorphic conformal flow of diffeomorphisms, lifted to a non-isometric homothetic flow on its covering. We show that $M$ admits an automorphic potential. This version was added 10 years after publication to correct some errors in the original.
A locally conformally Kahler (LCK) manifold is a manifold which is covered by a Kahler manifold, with the deck transform group acting by homotheties. We show that the blow-up of a compact LCK manifold along a complex submanifold admits an LCK structure if and only if this submanifold is globally conformally Kahler. We also prove that a twistor space (of a compact 4-manifold, a quaternion-Kahler manifold or a Riemannian m anifold) cannot admit an LCK metric, unless it is Kahler.
We show that for $n>2$ a compact locally conformally Kähler manifold $(M^{2n},g,J)$ carrying a non-trivial parallel vector field is either Vaisman, or globally conformally Kähler, determined in an explicit way by some compact Kähler manifold of dimension $2n-2$.
We classify quadruples $(M,g,m,τ)$ in which $(M,g)$ is a compact Kähler manifold of complex dimension $m>2$ with a nonconstant function $τ$ on $M$ such that the conformally related metric $g/τ^2$, defined wherever $τ\ne 0$, is Einstein. It turns out that $M$ then is the total space of a holomorphic $CP^1$ bundle over a compact Kähler-Einstein manifold $(N,h)$. The quadruples in question constitute four disjoint families: one, well-known, with Kähler metrics $g$ that are locally reducible; a second, discovered by Bérard Bergery (1982), and having $τ\ne 0$ everywhere; a third one, related to the…
In this article, we study harmonic symmetries on the compact locally conformally Kähler manifold $M$ of $dim_{\mathbb{C}}=n$. The space of harmonic symmetries is a subspace of harmonic differential forms which defined by the kernel of a certain Laplacian-type operator $\square$. We observe that the spaces $\ker(\square)\capΩ^{l}=\{0\}$ for any $|l-n|\geq2$ and $\kerΔ_{\bar{\partial}}\cap P^{k,n-1-k}\cap\ker(i_{θ^{\sharp}})\cong\ker(\square^{k,n-1-k})$, $\kerΔ_{\bar{\partial}}\cap P^{k,n-k}\cong\ker(\square^{k,n-k})$. Furthermore, suppose that $M$ is a Vaisman manifold, we prove that (i) $α$ is…
We will consider locally conformally balanced manifolds. We prove that a locally conformally balanced condition is not stable under a small deformation. We prove that locally conformally balanced condition is stable under any proper modification. We prove that symmetric products of the Kodaira surface can be resolve to locally conformally balanced manifolds by Hilbert-Chow map.
We show that any compact half-conformally flat manifold of negative type, with bounded $L^2$ energy, sufficiently small scalar curvature, and a non-collapsing assumption, has all betti numbers bounded. We show that this result is optimal from an analytic perspective by demonstrating singularity models that are 2-ended, and are asymptotically Kähler on both ends. We show that bounded self-dual solutions of $dω=0$ on ALE manifold ends are either asymptotically Kähler, or they have a decay rate of $O(r^{-4})$ or better.
We review the properties of the Morse-Novikov cohomology and compute it for all known compact complex surfaces with locally conformally Kähler metrics. We present explicit computations for the Inoue surfaces $\mathcal{S}^0$, $\mathcal{S}^+$, $\mathcal{S}^-$ and classify the locally conformally Kähler (and the tamed locally conformally symplectic) forms on $\mathcal{S}^0$. We prove the nonexistence of LCK metrics with potential and more generally, of $d_θ$-exact LCK metrics on Inoue surfaces and Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds.
We show that locally conformally flat quasi-Einstein manifolds are globally conformally equivalent to a space form or locally isometric to a $pp$-wave or a warped product.
