Let F be a holomorphic foliation of general type on CP(2) which admits a rational first integral. We provide bounds for the degree of the first integral of F just in function of the degree, the birational invariants of F and the geometric genus of a generic leaf. Similar bounds for invariant algebraic curves are also obtained and examples are given showing the necessity of the hypothesis.
We give a bounding of degree of quasi-smooth hypersurfaces which are invariant by a one dimensional holomorphic foliation of a given degree on a weighted projective space.
We develop a study on local polar invariants of planar complex analytic foliations at $(\mathbb{C}^{2},0)$, which leads to the characterization of second type foliations and of generalized curve foliations, as well as a description of the $GSV$-index. We apply it to the Poincaré problem for foliations on the complex projective plane $\mathbb{P}^{2}_{\mathbb{C}}$, establishing, in the dicritical case, conditions for the existence of a bound for the degree of an invariant algebraic curve $S$ in terms of the degree of the foliation $\mathcal{F}$. We characterize the existence of a solution for th…
We prove inequalities relating the degrees of holomorphic distributions and of holomorphic foliations forming a flag on $\mathbb{P}^n$. Such inequalities are inspired by the so called Poincaré problem for foliations.
In this paper we consider the question of bounding the degree of an divisor $D$ invariant by a $\F$ holomorphic foliation, without rational first integral, on smooth algebraic variety $X$ in terms of degree of $\F$ and some invariants of $D$ and $X$. Particularly, if $\F$ is a foliation of degree $d$ on $\mathbb{P}_{\mathbb{C}}^2$, whose the number of invariants curves is greater that ${k+2\choose k}$, we show that there exist a number $\mathcal{M}(d,k)$ such that if $k>\mathcal{M}(d,k),$ then $\F$ admits a rational first integral of degree $\leq k$. Moreover, there exist a number $\mathscr{G}…
In this work we shall present a survey on problems and results on singular holomorphic foliations and Pfaff systems on complex manifolds assuming that these objects possess invariant analytic varieties. We will focus on recent results which have been motivated by classical works of Darboux, Poincaré and Painlevé on the problem of algebraic integration of singular polynomial differential equations. We present results on Poincaré and Painlevé problem of bounding the degree and the genus of analytic varieties invariant by holomorphic foliations and Pfaff systems. We shall discuss the general idea…
We solve the Poincaré problem for plane foliations with only one dicritical divisor. Moreover, in this case, we give an algorithm that decides whether a foliation has a rational first integral and computes it in the affirmative case. We also provide an algorithm to compute a rational first integral of prefixed genus $g\neq 1$ of any type of plane foliation $\cf$. When the number of dicritical divisors dic$(\cf)$ is larger than two, this algorithm depends on suitable families of invariant curves. When dic$(\cf) = 2$, it proves that the degree of the rational first integral can be bounded only i…
This paper contributes to the solution of the Poincare problem, which is to bound the degree of a (generalized algebraic) leaf of a (singular algebraic) foliation of the complex projective plane. The first theorem gives a new sort of bound, which involves the Castelnuovo--Mumford regularity of the singular locus of the leaf. The second theorem gives a bound in terms of two singularity numbers of the leaf: the total Tjurina number, and the number of non-quasi-homogeneous singularities. If such singularities are present, then this bound improves one due to du Plessis and Wall, at least when the …
In this survey paper, we take the viewpoint of polar invariants to the local and global study of non-dicritical holomorphic foliations in dimension two and their invariant curves. It appears a characterization of second type foliations and generalized curve foliations as well as a description of the GSV-index in terms of polar curves. We also interpret the proofs concerning the Poincaré problem with polar invariants.
The classical Lyapunov-Poincaré center theorem assures the existence of a first integral for an analytic one-form near a center singularity in dimension two, provided that the first jet of the one-form is nondegenerate. The basic point is the existence of an analytic first integral for the given one-form. In this paper we consider generalizations for two main frameworks: (i) real analytic foliations of codimension one in higher dimension and (ii) singular holomorphic foliations in dimension two. All this is related to the problem of finding criteria assuring the existence of analytic first int…
In this article we characterize the foliations that have the same Newton polygon that their union of formal separatrices, they are the foliations called of the second type. In the case of cuspidal foliations studied by Loray, we precise this characterization using the Poincaré-Hopf index. This index also characterizes the cuspidal foliations having the same desingularization that the union of its separatrices. Finally we give necessary and sufficient conditions when these cuspidal foliations are generalized curves, and a characterization when they have only one separatrix.
In this work we study some problems related with algebraic hypersurfaces invariant by foliations on weighted projective spaces $\mathbb{P}_{\mathbb{C}}(\varpi_0,...,\varpi_n)$ generalizing some results known for $\p$, as for example: the number of singularities, with multiplicities, contained in the invariant quasi-smooth hypersurfaces; Poincare problem on weighted projective plane and the number of the hypersurfaces, of a degree fixed, invariant by a foliation on $\mathbb{P}_{\mathbb{C}}(\varpi_0,...,\varpi_n)$ which does not admit a rational first integral.
We prove that the higher order Poincare-Pontryagin functions associated to the perturbed polynomial foliation $df -ε(P dx + Q dy) =0$ satisfy a differential equation of Fuchs type.
Let \Fc be a holomorphic foliation by Riemann surfaces defined on a compact complex projective surface X satisfying the following two conditions: (1) the singular points of \Fc are all hyperbolic; (2) \Fc is Brody hyperbolic. Then we establish cohomological formulas for the Lyapunov exponent and the Poincaré mass of an extremal positive \ddc-closed current tangent to \Fc. If, moreover, there is no nonzero positive closed current tangent to \Fc, then we show that the Lyapunov exponent χ(\Fc) of \Fc, which is, by definition, the Lyapunov exponent of the unique normalized positive \ddc-closed cur…
We study the holonomy cocycle H of a holomorphic foliation \Fc by Riemann surfaces defined on a compact complex projective surface X satisfying the following two conditions: 1) its singularities E are all hyperbolic; 2) there is no holomorphic non-constant map \C\to X such that out of E the image of \C is locally contained in a leaf. Let T be a harmonic current tangent to \Fc which does not give mass to any invariant analytic curve. Using the leafwise Poincaré metric, we show that H is integrable with respect to T. Consequently, we infer the existence of the Lyapunov exponent function of T.
The polar curves of foliations $\mathcal F$ having a curve $C$ of separatrices generalize the classical polar curves associated to hamiltonian foliations of $C$. As in the classical theory, the equisingularity type ${\wp}({\mathcal F})$ of a generic polar curve depends on the analytical type of ${\mathcal F}$, and hence of $C$. In this paper we find the equisingularity types $ε(C)$ of $C$, that we call kind singularities, such that ${\wp}({\mathcal F})$ is completely determined by $ε(C)$ for Zariski-general foliations $\mathcal F$. Our proofs are mainly based on the adjunction properties of th…
We investigate residue-type indices for germs of holomorphic foliations in the plane and characterize second type foliations - those not containing tangent saddle-nodes in the reduction of singularities - by an expression involving the Baum-Bott, variation and polar excess indices. These local results are applied in the study of logarithmic foliations on compact complex surfaces.
The space of codimension one holomorphic foliations of degree 1 in a projective space has an irreducible component whose general element is a logarithmic differential 1-form with simple poles in three hyperplanes. We compute its projective degree by resolving its rational parametrization map through succesive blow-ups with smooth centers.
After the nice result introduced by Belotto in [1] concerning the local monomialization of a singular foliation given by n first integrals, this work is a continuation in the same spirit. In this paper, we introduce a important conjecture about local monomialization of a singular foliation of Darboux type (see section 1). This conjecture can be used to study pseudo-abelian integrals [2,4].
In this paper, we will construct a pre-normal form for germs of codimension one holomorphic foliation having a particular type of separatrix, of cuspidal type. We will also give a sufficient condition, in the quasi-homogeneous, three-dimensional case, for these foliations to be of generalized surface type.
This report discusses recent results as well as new perspectives in the ergodic theory for Riemann surface laminations, with an emphasis on singular holomorphic foliations by curves. The central notions of these developments are leafwise Poincaré metric, directed positive harmonic currents, multiplicative cocycles and Lyapunov exponents. We deal with various ergodic theorems for such laminations: Random and Operator Ergodic Theorems, (Geometric) Birkhoff Ergodic Theorems, Oseledec Multiplicative Ergodic Theorem and Unique Ergodicity Theorems. Applications of these theorems are also given. In p…
In this paper under similar conditions to that Shaskov and Shil'nikov [1994] we show that a C^{k+1} Lorenz-type map T has a C^{k} foliation which is invariant under T. This allows us to associate T to a C^{k} one-dimensional transformation.
We prove that a Morse type codimension one holomorphic foliation is not transverse to a sphere in the complex affine space. Also we characterize the variety of contacts of a linear foliation with concentric spheres.
We give a classification of absolutely dicritical foliations of cusp type, that is, the germ of singularities of complex foliations in the complex plane topologically equivalent to the singularity given by the level of the meromorphic function \frac{y^{2}+x^{3}}{xy}.
In this article, for holomorphic foliations of codimension one at $(\mathbb{C}^{3},0)$, we define the family of second type foliations. This is formed by foliations having, in the reduction process by blow-up maps, only well oriented singularities, meaning that the reduction divisor does not contain weak separatrices of saddle-node singularities. We prove that the reduction of singularities of a non-dicritical foliation of second type coincides with the desingularization of its set of separatrices.
We consider holomorphic foliations of dimension $k>1$ and codimension $\geq 1$ in the projective space $\mathbb{P}^n$, with a compact connected component of the Kupka set. We prove that, if the transversal type is linear with positive integers eigenvalues, then the foliation consist on the fibers of a rational fibration. As a corollary, if $\mathcal{F}$ is a foliation such that $dim(\mathcal{F})\geq cod(\mathcal{F})+2$ and has transversal type diagonal with different eigenvalues, then the Kupka component $K$ is a complete intersection and we get the same conclusion. The same conclusion holds i…
We prove a rigidity result for foliations on surfaces of genus two, which can be seen as a generalization to higher genus of Herman's theorem on circle diffeomorphisms and, correspondingly, flows on the torus. We prove in particular that, if a smooth, orientable foliation with non-degenerate (Morse) singularities on a closed surface of genus two is minimal, then, under a full measure condition for the rotation number, it is differentiably conjugate to a linear foliation. The corresponding result at the level of Poincaré sections is that, for a full measure set of interval exchange transformati…
We prove that a $C^{\infty}$ equivalence between germs holomorphic foliations at $({\mathbb C}^2,0)$ establishes a bijection between the sets of formal separatrices preserving equisingularity classes. As a consequence, if one of the foliations is of second type, so is the other and they are equisingular.
In this article we study the analytic classification of certain types of quasi-homogeneous cuspidal holomorphic foliations in $(\CC^3,{\bf 0})$ via the essential holonomy defined over one of the components of the exceptional divisor that appears in the reduction of the singularities of the foliation.
In this paper it is shown that the existence of two independent holomorphic first integrals for foliations by curves on (C^3,0) is not a topological invariant. More precisely, we provide an example of two topologically equivalent foliations such that only one of them admits two independent holomorphic first integrals. The existence of invariant surfaces over which the induced foliation possesses infinitely many separatrices possibly constitutes the sole obstruction for the topological invariance of complete integrability and a characterization of foliations admitting this type of invariant sur…

We study codimension one (transversally oriented) foliations $\fa$ on oriented closed manifolds $M$ having non-empty compact singular set $\sing(\fa)$ which is locally defined by Bott-Morse functions. We prove that if the transverse type of $\fa$ at each singular point is a center and $\fa$ has a compact leaf with finite fundamental group or a component of $\sing(\fa)$ has codimension $\ge 3$ and finite fundamental group, then all leaves of $\fa$ are compact and diffeomorphic, $\sing(\fa)$ consists of two connected components, and there is a Bott-Morse function $f:M \to [0,1]$ such that $f\col…
We describe the topological types of leaves of generic logarithmic foliations on the complex projective plane. We prove that all leaves, except for a finite many are biholomorphic to $\mathbb{C}$ or homeomorphic to the surface known as Loch Ness monster.
