In a recent paper by Zhao and the author, the Lie algebras $A[D]=A\otimes F[D]$ of Weyl type were defined and studied, where $A$ is a commutative associative algebra with an identity element over a field $F$ of any characteristic, and $F[D]$ is the polynomial algebra of a commutative derivation subalgebra $D$ of $A$. In the present paper, the 2-cocycles of a class of the above Lie algebras $A[D]$ (which are called the Lie algebras of generalized differential operators in the present paper), with $F$ being a field of characteristic 0, are determined. Among all the 2-cocycles, there is a special one which seems interesting. Using this 2-cocycle, the central extension of the Lie algebra is defined.
We introduce the conception of matched pairs of $(H, β)$-Lie algebras, construct an $(H, β)$-Lie algebra through them. We prove that the cocycle twist of a matched pair of $(H, β)$-Lie algebras can also be matched.
This paper studies two types of 3-Lie bialgebras whose compatibility conditions between the multiplication and comultiplication are given by local cocycles and double constructions respectively, and are therefore called the local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebra and the double construction 3-Lie bialgebra. They can be regarded as suitable extensions of the well-known Lie bialgebra in the context of 3-Lie algebras, in two different directions. The local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebra is introduced to extend the connection between Lie bialgebras and the classical Yang-Baxter equation. Its relationship with a te…
In this paper, we introduce 3-Hom-Lie bialgebras whose compatibility conditions between the multiplication and comultiplication are given by local cocycle conditions. We study a twisted 3-ary version of the Yang-Baxter Equation, called the 3-Lie classical HomYang-Baxter Equation (3-Lie CHYBE), which is a general form of 3-Lie classical YangBaxter Equation studied in [2] and prove that the bialgebras induced by the solutions of 3-Lie CHYBE induce the coboundary local cocycle 3-Hom-Lie bialgebras.
A classical theorem of Scheunert on $G$-color Lie algebras, asserts in the case of finitely generated abelian groups, one can twist the algebra structure and the commutation bicharacter on $G$ by a 2-cocycle twist to a super-Lie $G$ graded, algebra. In this paper we show that this can be done for an arbitrary group.
In a paper by Su and Zhao, the Lie algebra $A[D]=A\otimes F[D]$ of Weyl type was defined and studied, where $A$ is a commutative associative algebra with an identity element over a field $F$ of arbitrary characteristic, and $F[D]$ is the polynomial algebra of a commutative derivation subalgebra $D$ of $A$. The 2-cocycles of a class of $A[D]$ were determined by Su. In the present paper, we determine the 2-cocycles of a class of Lie superalgebras of Weyl type over a field $F$ of characteristic 0.
For two covariant differential *-calculi, the twisted cyclic cocycle associated with the volume form is represented in terms of commutators [F,ρ(x)] for some self-adjoint operator F and some *-representation $ρ$ of the underlying *-algebra.
We study some aspects of the theory of non-commutative differential calculi over complex algebras, especially over the Hopf algebras associated to compact quantum groups in the sense of S.L. Woronowicz. Our principal emphasis is on the theory of twisted graded traces and their associated twisted cyclic cocycles. One of our principal results is a new method of constructing differential calculi, using twisted graded traces.
Classical contact Lie algebras are the fundamental algebraic structures on the manifolds of contact elements of configuration spaces in classical mechanics. Xu introduced a large category of contact simple Lie algebras which are related to locally finite derivations and are in general not finitely graded. The isomorphism classes of these Lie algebras were determined in a previous paper by Xu and Su. In this paper, the derivation algebras and the 2-cohomology groups of these Lie algebras are determined, and it is obtained that the 2-cohomology groups of these Lie algebras are all trivial.
We find crossed modules, i.e. certain 4 term exact sequences, associated to the Godbillon-Vey class for W_1, Vect(S^1), Vect_{1,0}(Σ) and Hol(Σ_r), i.e. for the Lie algebras of formal vector fields in 1 variable, vector fields on the circle, differentiable vector fields of holomorphic type on a Riemann surface and holomorphic vector fields on an open Riemann surface.
This paper begins by introducing the concept of a quasi-hom-Lie algebra which is a natural generalization of hom-Lie algebras introduced in a previous paper by the authors. Quasi-hom-Lie algebras include also as special cases (color) Lie algebras and superalgebras, and can be seen as deformations of these by homomorphisms, twisting the Jacobi identity and skew-symmetry. The natural realm for these quasi-hom-Lie algebras is as a generalization-deformation of the Witt algebra $\Witt$ of derivations on the Laurent polynomials $\C[t,t^{-1}]$. We also develop a theory of central extensions for qhl-…
In this paper, we give some low-dimensional examples of local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebras and double construction 3-Lie bialgebras which were introduced in the study of the classical Yang-Baxter equation and Manin triples for 3-Lie algebras. We give an explicit and practical formula to compute the skew-symmetric solutions of the 3-Lie classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE). As an illustration, we obtain all skew-symmetric solutions of the 3-Lie CYBE in complex 3-Lie algebras of dimension 3 and 4 and then the induced local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebras. On the other hand, we classify the double construc…
We construct the explicit formula for the (2n+1)-cocycle of the Lie algebra of (pseudo)differential operators on a n-dimensional space. We prove that this formula in fact defines a cocycle for n=1 and n=2.
The real vector space of non-oriented graphs is known to carry a differential graded Lie algebra structure. Cocycles in the Kontsevich graph complex, expressed using formal sums of graphs on $n$ vertices and $2n-2$ edges, induce -- under the orientation mapping -- infinitesimal symmetries of classical Poisson structures on arbitrary finite-dimensional affine real manifolds. Willwacher has stated the existence of a nontrivial cocycle that contains the $(2\ell+1)$-wheel graph with a nonzero coefficient at every $\ell\in\mathbb{N}$. We present detailed calculations of the differential of graphs; …
Multi-point algebras of Krichever Novikov type for higher genus Riemann surfaces are generalisations of the Virasoro algebra and its related algebras. Complete existence and uniqueness results for local 2-cocycles defining almost-graded central extensions of the functions algebra, the vector field algebra, and the differential operator algebra (of degree \le 1) are shown. This is applied to the higher genus, multi-point affine algebras to obtain uniqueness for almost-graded central extensions of the current algebra of a simple finite-dimensional Lie algebra. An earlier conjecture of the author…
It is shown, that each Lifting cocycle $Ψ_{2n+1},Ψ_{2n+3},Ψ_{2n+5},...$ ([Sh1], [Sh2]) on the Lie algebra $\Dif_n$ of polynomial differential operators on an $n$-dimensional complex vector space is the sum of two cocycles, its even and odd part. We study in more details the first case $n=1$. It is shown, that any nontrivial linear combination of two 3-cocycles on the Lie algebra $\Dif_1$, arising from the 3-cocycle~$Ψ_3$, is not cohomologous to zero, in a contradiction with the Feigin conjecture~[F]. The new conjecture on the cohomology $H^\ndot_\Lie(\Dif_1;\C)$ is made.
The Kashiwara-Vergne Lie algebra $\mathfrak{krv}$ encodes symmetries of the Kashiwara-Vergne problem on the properties of the Campbell-Hausdorff series. It is conjectures that $\mathfrak{krv} \cong \mathbb{K}t \oplus \mathfrak{grt}_1$, where $t$ is a generator of degree 1 and $\mathfrak{grt}_1$ is the Grothendieck-Teichmüller Lie algebra. In the paper, we prove this conjecture in depth 2. The main tools in the proof are the divergence cocycle and the representation theory of the dihedral group $D_{12}$. Our calculation is similar to the calculation by Zagier of the graded dimensions of the dou…
Feigin and Fuchs have given a well-known construction of intertwining operators between "Fock-type" modules over the Virasoro algebra. The intertwiners are obtained via contour integration of certain "screening operators" over top homology classes of a configuration space. The main observation of the present paper is that the screening operators contain more information. Specifically, at the chain level, the screening operators provide a certain canonical cocycle of the Virasoro (resp. affine Kac-Moody) algebra with coefficients in the de Rham complex of an operator-valued local system on the …
We construct cocycles on the Lie algebra of pseudo- and q-pseudodifferential symbols of one variable and on their close relatives: the sine-algebra and the Poisson algebra on two-torus. A ``quantum'' Godbillon-Vey cocycle on (pseudo)-differential operators appears in this construction as a natural generalization of the Gelfand-Fuchs 3-cocycle on periodic vector fields. We describe a nontrivial embedding of the Virasoro algebra into (a completion of) q-pseudodifferential symbols, and propose q-analogs of the KP and KdV-hierarchies admitting an infinite number of conserved charges.
A Dirac operator D on the standard Podles sphere is defined and investigated. It yields a spectral triple such that |D|^{-z} is of trace class for Re z>0. Commutators with the Dirac operator give the distinguished 2-dimensional covariant differential calculus on the standard Podles sphere. The twisted cyclic cocycle associated with the volume form of the differential calculus is expressed by means of the Dirac operator.
The forms of the invariant primitive tensors for the simple Lie algebras A_l, B_l, C_l and D_l are investigated. A new family of symmetric invariant tensors is introduced using the non-trivial cocycles for the Lie algebra cohomology. For the A_l algebra it is explicitly shown that the generic forms of these tensors become zero except for the l primitive ones and that they give rise to the l primitive Casimir operators. Some recurrence and duality relations are given for the Lie algebra cocycles. Tables for the 3- and 5-cocycles for su(3) and su(4) are also provided. Finally, new relations invo…
We find the general solution to the twisting equation in the tensor bialgebra $T({\bf R})$ of an associative unital ring ${\bf R}$ viewed as that of fundamental representation for a universal enveloping Lie algebra and its quantum deformations. We suggest a procedure of constructing twisting cocycles belonging to a given quasitriangular subbialgebra ${\cal H}\subset T({\bf R})$. This algorithm generalizes Reshetikhin's approach, which involves cocycles fulfilling the Yang-Baxter equation. Within this framework we study a class of quantized inhomogeneous Lie algebras related to associative ring…
We integrate the Lifting cocycles $Ψ_{2n+1},Ψ_{2n+3},Ψ_{2n+5},...$ ([Sh1], [Sh2]) on the Lie algebra $\Dif_n$ of holomorphic differential operators on an $n$-dimensional complex vector space to the cocycles on the Lie algebra of holomorphic differential operators on a holomorphic line bundle $λ$ on an $n$-dimensional complex manifold $M$ in the sense of Gelfand-Fuks cohomology [GF] (more precisely, we integrate the cocycles on the sheaves of the Lie algebras of finite matrices over the corresponding associative algebras). The main result is the following explicit form of the Feigin-Tsygan theo…
Let ${\mathcal E}$ be a holomorphic vector bundle on a complex manifold $X$ such that $\dim_{\mathbb C}X=n$. Given any continuous, basic Hochschild $2n$-cocycle $ψ_{2n}$ of the algebra ${\rm Diff}_n$ of formal holomorphic differential operators, one obtains a $2n$-form $f_{{\mathcal E},ψ_{2n}}(\mathcal D)$ from any holomorphic differential operator ${\mathcal D}$ on ${\mathcal E}$. We apply our earlier results [J. Noncommut. Geom. 2 (2008), 405-448; J. Noncommut. Geom. 3 (2009), 27-45] to show that $\int_X f_{{\mathcal E},ψ_{2n}}({\mathcal D})$ gives the Lefschetz number of $\mathcal D$ upto a…
Beginning with a skew-symmetric matrix, we define a certain Poisson--Lie group. Its Poisson bracket can be viewed as a cocycle perturbation of the linear (or "Lie-Poisson") Poisson bracket. By analyzing this Poisson structure, we gather enough information to construct a C*-algebraic locally compact quantum group, via the "cocycle bicrossed product construction" method. The quantum group thus obtained is shown to be a deformation quantization of the Poisson-Lie group, in the sense of Rieffel.
It is shown that the non-trivial cocycles on simple Lie algebras may be used to introduce antisymmetric multibrackets which lead to higher-order Lie algebras, the definition of which is given. Their generalised Jacobi identities turn out to be satisfied by the antisymmetric tensors (or higher-order `structure constants') which characterise the Lie algebra cocycles. This analysis allows us to present a classification of the higher-order simple Lie algebras as well as a constructive procedure for them. Our results are synthesised by the introduction of a single, complete BRST operator associated…
We use monoidal category methods to study the noncommutative geometry of nonassociative algebras obtained by a Drinfeld-type cochain twist. These are the so-called quasialgebras and include the octonions as braided-commutative but nonassociative coordinate rings, as well as quasialgebra versions $\CC_{q}(G)$ of the standard q-deformation quantum groups. We introduce the notion of ribbon algebras in the category, which are algebras equipped with a suitable generalised automorphism $σ$, and obtain the required generalisation of cyclic cohomology. We show that this \emph{braided cyclic cocohomolo…
We investigate the generic 3D topological field theory within AKSZ-BV framework. We use the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formalism to construct explicitly cocycles of the Lie algebra of formal Hamiltonian vector fields and we argue that the perturbative partition function gives rise to secondary characteristic classes. We investigate a toy model which is an odd analogue of Chern-Simons theory, and we give some explicit computation of two point functions and show that its perturbation theory is identical to the Chern-Simons theory. We give concrete example of the homomorphism taking Lie algebra cocy…
We have previously shown that the truncated Weil algebra of any Lie algebra is a Hopf-cyclic type complex with nontrivial coefficients. In this paper we apply this result to transfer the characteristic classes of transversely orientable foliations into the cyclic cohomology of the groupoid action algebra. Our result in codimension 1 matches with the only existing explicit computation done by Connes-Moscovici. In codimension 2 case, we carry out a constructive and explicit computation, by which we present the transverse fundamental class, the Godbillon-Vey class, and the other four residual cla…
We investigate the second cohomology space of the Lie superalgebra $\mathcal{K}(2)$ with coefficients in the superspace of weighted densities on the (1,2)-dimentional real superspace. We explicitly give cocycles spanning this cohomology space.
As a generalization of the linear Poisson bracket on the dual space of a Lie algebra, we introduce certain non-linear Poisson brackets which are ``cocycle perturbations'' of the linear Poisson bracket. We show that these special Poisson brackets are equivalent to Poisson brackets of central extension type, which resemble the central extensions of an ordinary Lie bracket via Lie algebra cocycles. We are able to formulate (strict) deformation quantizations of these Poisson brackets by means of twisted group C*-algebras. We also indicate that these deformation quantizations can be used to constru…
Continuing our research on extensions of locally compact quantum groups, we give a classification of all cocycle matched pairs of Lie algebras in small dimensions and prove that all of them can be exponentiated to cocycle matched pairs of Lie groups. Hence, all of them give rise to locally compact quantum groups by the cocycle bicrossed product construction. We also clarify the notion of an extension of locally compact quantum groups by relating it to the concept of a closed normal quantum subgroup and the quotient construction. Finally, we describe the infinitesimal objects of locally compact…
In this report we give an intrinsic treatment of the results we developed in a previous work connecting the differential calculi on Hopf algebras to the Drinfeld double. In the first place we recover that bicovariant bimodules are in one to one correspondence with the Drinfeld double representations; we then introduce a Hochschild cohomology of the algebra of functions and discuss the main result stating that each differential calculus is associated to a 1-cocycle satisfying an additional invariance condition with respect to a natural action. Defining a Hochschild cohomology of the double, the…
