Optimal prediction (OP) methods compensate for a lack of resolution in the numerical solution of complex problems through the use of an invariant measure as a prior measure in the Bayesian sense. In first-order OP, unresolved information is approximated by its conditional expectation with respect to the invariant measure. In higher-order OP, unresolved information is approximated by a stochastic estimator, leading to a system of random or stochastic differential equations.
We explain the ideas through a simple example, and then apply them to the solution of Averaged Euler equations in two space dimensions.

In this paper, we extend the logarithmic Euler-Maruyama scheme for stochastic delay differential equation in one dimension to the part where we propose a scheme for a system of stochastic delay differential equations. We then show that the scheme always maintains positivity subject to initial conditions. We then show the convergence of the proposed Euler-Maruyama scheme. With this scheme, all the approximate solutions are positive and the rate of convergence of this scheme is 0.5.
In this paper, we consider the equivalence of the $p$th moment exponential stability for stochastic differential equations (SDEs), stochastic differential equations with piecewise continuous arguments (SDEPCAs) and the corresponding Euler-Maruyama methods EMSDEs and EMSDEPCAs. We show that if one of the SDEPCAs, SDEs, EMSDEs and EMSDEPCAs is $p$th moment exponentially stable, then any of them is $p$th moment exponentially stable for a sufficiently small step size $h$ and $τ$ under the global Lipschitz assumption on the drift and diffusion coefficients
This paper proposes a general symplectic Euler scheme for a class of Hamiltonian stochastic differential equations driven by L$\acute{e}$vy noise in the sense of Marcus form. The convergence of the symplectic Euler scheme for this Hamiltonian stochastic differential equations is investigated. Realizable numerical implementation of this scheme is also provided in details. Numerical experiments are presented to illustrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method by the simulations of its orbits, symplectic structure and Hamlitonian.
We study the traditional backward Euler method for $m$-dimensional stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H > 1/2$ whose drift coefficient satisfies the one-sided Lipschitz condition. The backward Euler scheme is proved to be of order $1$ and this rate is optimal by showing the asymptotic error distribution result. Two numerical experiments are performed to validate our claims about the optimality of the rate of convergence.
The truncated Euler-Maruyama (EM) method is proposed to approximate a class of non-autonomous stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with the Hölder continuity in the temporal variable and the super-linear growth in the state variable. The strong convergence with the convergence rate is proved. Moreover, the strong convergence of the truncated EM method for a class of highly non-linear time-changed SDEs is studied.
Motivated by fractional derivative models in viscoelasticity, a class of semilinear stochastic Volterra integro-differential equations, and their deterministic counterparts, are considered. A generalized exponential Euler method, named here as the Mittag-Leffler Euler integrator, is used for the temporal discretization, while the spatial discretization is performed by the spectral Galerkin method. The temporal rate of strong convergence is found to be (almost) twice compared to when the backward Euler method is used together with a convolution quadrature for time discretization. Numerical expe…

Discrete maximal regularity of an implicit Euler--Maruyama scheme with non-uniform time discretisation for a class of stochastic partial differential equations
In this paper, we derive error estimates of the backward Euler-Maruyama method applied to multi-valued stochastic differential equations. An important example of such an equation is a stochastic gradient flow whose associated potential is not continuously differentiable, but assumed to be convex. We show that the backward Euler-Maruyama method is well-defined and convergent of order at least $1/4$ with respect to the root-mean-square norm. Our error analysis relies on techniques for deterministic problems developed in [Nochetto, Savaré, and Verdi, Comm.\ Pure Appl.\ Math., 2000]. We verify tha…
Convergence rate and exponential stability of backward Euler method for neutral stochastic delay differential equations under generalized monotonicity conditions
In this paper, we propose a class of explicit positivity preserving numerical methods for general stochastic differential equations which have positive solutions. Namely, all the numerical solutions are positive. Under some reasonable conditions, we obtain the convergence and the convergence rate results for these methods. The main difficulty is to obtain the strong convergence and the convergence rate for stochastic differential equations whose coefficients are of exponential growth. Some numerical experiments are provided to illustrate the theoretical results for our schemes.
The 2D Euler equations are a simple but rich set of non-linear PDEs that describe the evolution of an ideal inviscid fluid, for which one dimension is negligible. Solving numerically these equations can be extremely demanding. Several techniques to obtain fast and accurate simulations have been developed during the last decades. In this paper, we present a novel approach which combines recent developments in the stochastic model reduction and conservative semi-discretization of the Euler equations. In particular, starting from the Zeitlin model on the 2-sphere, we derive reduced dynamics for l…

This paper considers the initial value problem of general nonlinear stochastic fractional integro-differential equations with weakly singular kernels. Our effort is devoted to establishing some fine estimates to include all the cases of Abel-type singular kernels. Firstly, the existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence on the initial value of the true solution under local Lipschitz condition and linear growth condition are derived in detail. Secondly, the Euler--Maruyama method is developed for solving numerically the equation, and then its strong convergence is proven under the same cond…
In this paper, we study a class of super-linear stochastic differential delay equations with Poisson jumps (SDDEwPJs). The convergence and rate of the convergence of the truncated Euler-Maruyama numerical solutions to SDDEwPJs are investigated under the generalized Khasminskii-type condition.

The well-known stochastic SIS model characterized by highly nonlinear in epidemiology has a unique positive solution taking values in a bounded domain with a series of dynamical behaviors. However, the approximation methods to maintain the positivity and long-time behaviors for the stochastic SIS model, while very important, are also lacking. In this paper, based on a logarithmic transformation, we propose a novel explicit numerical method for a stochastic SIS epidemic model whose coefficients violate the global monotonicity condition, which can preserve the positivity of the original stochast…

The weak rate of convergence for the Euler-Maruyama approximation of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations involving the local times of the unknown process
Over the last few decades, the numerical methods for stochastic differential delay equations (SDDEs) have been investigated and developed by many scholars. Nevertheless, there is still little work to be completed. By virtue of the novel technique, this paper focuses on the mean-square convergence and stability of the backward Euler method (BEM) for SDDEs whose drift and diffusion coefficients can both grow polynomially. The upper mean-square error bounds of BEM are obtained. Then the convergence rate, which is one-half, is revealed without using the moment boundedness of numerical solutions. F…

The backward Euler-Maruyama (BEM) method is employed to approximate the invariant measure of stochastic differential equations, where both the drift and the diffusion coefficient are allowed to grow super-linearly. The existence and uniqueness of the invariant measure of the numerical solution generated by the BEM method are proved and the convergence of the numerical invariant measure to the underlying one is shown. Simulations are provided to illustrate the theoretical results and demonstrate the application of our results in the area of system control.
An explicit numerical method is developed for a class of non-autonomous time-changed stochastic differential equations, whose coefficients obey Hölder's continuity in terms of the time variables and are allowed to grow super-linearly in terms of the state variables. The strong convergence of the method in the finite time interval is proved and the convergence rate is obtained. Numerical simulations are provided.
The semi-implicit Euler-Maruyama (EM) method is investigated to approximate a class of time-changed stochastic differential equations, whose drift coefficient can grow super-linearly and diffusion coefficient obeys the global Lipschitz condition. The strong convergence of the semi-implicit EM is proved and the convergence rate is discussed. When the Bernstein function of the inverse subordinator (time-change) is regularly varying at zero, we establish the mean square polynomial stability of the underlying equations. In addition, the numerical method is proved to be able to preserve such an asy…
We prove a weak rate of convergence of a fully discrete scheme for stochastic Cahn--Hilliard equation with additive noise, where the spectral Galerkin method is used in space and the backward Euler method is used in time. Compared with the Allen--Cahn type stochastic partial differential equation, the error analysis here is much more sophisticated due to the presence of the unbounded operator in front of the nonlinear term. To address such issues, a novel and direct approach has been exploited which does not rely on a Kolmogorov equation but on the integration by parts formula from Malliavin c…
We prove that some time Euler schemes for the 3D Navier-Stokes equations modified by adding a Brinkman-Forchheimer term and a random perturbation converge in $L^2(Ω)$. This extends previous results concerning the strong rate of convergence of some time discretization schemes for the 2D Navier Stokes equations. Unlike the 2D case, our proposed 3D model with the Brinkman-Forchheimer term allows for a strong rate of convergence of order almost 1/2, that is independent of the viscosity parameter.
We prove that the implicit time Euler scheme coupled with finite elements space discretization for the 2D Navier-Stokes equations on the torus subject to a random perturbation converges in $L^2(Ω)$, and describe the rate of convergence for an $H^1$-valued initial condition. This refines previous results which only established the convergence in probability of these numerical approximations. Using exponential moment estimates of the solution of the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations and convergence of a localized scheme, we can prove strong convergence of this space-time approximation. The spee…
