It is well known that if two finite groups have the same symmetric tensor categories of representations over C, then they are isomorphic. We study the following question: when do two finite groups G1,G2 have the same tensor categories of representations over C (without regard for the commutativity constraint). We call two groups with such property isocategorical. We give an example of two groups which are isocategorical but not isomorphic: the affine symplectic group of a vector space over the field of two elements, and an appropriate "affine pseudosymplectic group" introduced by R.Griess (containing the "pseudosymplectic group" of A.Weil). On the other hand, we give a classification of groups isocategorical to a given group. In particular, we show that if G has no nontrivial normal subgroups of order 2^{2m} then any group isocategorical to G must actually be isomorphic to G. The proofs use the theory of triangular Hopf algebras. We also apply the notion of isocategorical groups to studying the question: when are two triangular semisimple Hopf algebras isomorphic as Hopf algebras?
Two groups are called isocategorical over a field $k$ if their respective categories of $k$-linear representations are monoidally equivalent. We classify isocategorical groups over arbitrary fields, extending the earlier classification of Etingof-Gelaki and Davydov for algebraically closed fields. In order to construct concrete examples of isocategorical groups a new variant of the Weil representation associated to isocategorical groups is defined. We construct examples of non-isomorphic isocategorical groups over any field of characteristic different from two and rational Weil representations…
Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p\ge 0$. Let $G$ be an affine group scheme over $k$. We classify the indecomposable exact module categories over the rigid tensor category $\text{Coh}_f(G)$ of coherent sheaves of finite dimensional $k-$vector spaces on $G$, in terms of $(H,ψ)-$equivariant coherent sheaves on $G$. We deduce from it the classification of indecomposable {\em geometrical} module categories over $\Rep(G)$. When $G$ is finite, this yields the classification of {\em all} indecomposable exact module categories over the finite tensor category $\Rep(G)$. In pa…
In this work we study the induction theory for Hopf group coalgebra. To reach this goal we define a substructure B of a Hopf group coalgebra $H$, called subHopf group coalgebra. Also, we introduced the definition of Hopf group suboalgebra and group coisotropic quantum subgroup of $H$.
We study algebraic properties of Hopf group-coalgebras, recently introduced by Turaev. We show the existence of integrals and traces for such coalgebras, and we generalize the main properties of quasitriangular and ribbon Hopf algebras to the setting of Hopf group-coalgebras.
Let $m$ a positive integer, not divisible by 2,3,5,7. We generalize the classification of basic quasi-Hopf algebras over cyclic groups of prime order given in \cite{EG3} to the case of cyclic groups of order $m$. To this end, we introduce a family of non-semisimple radically graded quasi-Hopf algebras $A(H,s)$, constructed as subalgebras of Hopf algebras twisted by a quasi-Hopf twist, which are not twist equivalent to Hopf algebras. Any basic quasi-Hopf algebra over a cyclic group of order $m$ is either semisimple, or is twist equivalent to a Hopf algebra or a quasi-Hopf algebra of type $A(H,s…
We provide an analog of Tannaka Theory for Hopf algebras in the context of crossed Hopf group coalgebras introduced by Turaev. Following Street and our previous work on the quantum double of crossed structures, we give a construction, via Tannaka Theory, of the quantum double of crossed Hopf group algebras (not necessarily of finite type).
We show that bicrossed product Hopf algebras arising from exact factorizations in almost simple finite groups, so in particular, in simple and symmetric groups, admit no quasitriangular structure.
In this work we study the induction (induced and coinduced)theory for Hopf group coalgebra. We define a substructure B of a Hopf group coalgebra $H$, called subHopf group coalgebra. Also, we have introduced the definition of Hopf group suboalgebra and group coisotropic quantum subgroup of $H$. The properties of the algebraic structure of the induced and coinduced are given. Moreover, a framework of the geometric interperation and simplicity theory of such representation strructure are stuided.
We show that a semisimple Hopf algebra A is group theoretical if and only if its Drinfeld double is a twisting of the Dijkgraaf-Pasquier-Roche quasi-Hopf algebra D^{omega}(Sigma), for some finite group Sigma and some 3-cocycle omega on Sigma. We show that semisimple Hopf algebras obtained as bicrossed products from an exact factorization of a finite group Sigma are group theoretical. We also describe their Drinfeld double as a twisting of D^{omega}(Sigma), for an appropriate 3-cocycle omega coming from the Kac exact sequence.
We classify finite-dimensional Hopf algebras whose coradical is isomorphic to the algebra of functions on S_3. We describe a new infinite family of Hopf algebras of dimension 72.
With the motivation of giving a more precise estimation of the quantum Brauer group of a Hopf algebra $H$ over a field $k$ we construct an exact sequence containing the quantum Brauer group of a Hopf algebra in a certain braided monoidal category. Let $B$ be a Hopf algebra in $\C=_H ^H\YD$, the category of Yetter-Drinfel'd modules over $H$. We consider the quantum Brauer group $\BQ(\C; B)$ of $B$ in $\C$, which is isomorphic to the usual quantum Brauer group $\BQ(k; B\rtimes H)$ of the Radford biproduct Hopf algebra $B\rtimes H$. We show that under certain symmetricity condition on the braidin…
Any finite-dimensional complex pointed Hopf algebra with group of group-likes isomorphic to a sporadic group, with the possible exception of the Fischer groups Fi22, the Baby Monster B and the Monster M, is a group algebra.
In this work we study some properties of comldules over (non-cosemisimple) Hopf algebras possessing integrals, which are also called co-Frobenius Hopf algebras. We apply the result obtained to the classification of representations of quantum groups of type $A_{0|0}$.
The Multiplier Hopf Group Coalgebra was introduced by Hegazi in 2002 [7] as a generalization of Hope group caolgebra, introduced by Turaev in 2000 [5], in the non-unital case. We prove that the concepts introduced by A.Van Daele in constructing multiplier Hopf algebra \cite{4} can be adapted to serve again in our construction. A multiplier Hopf group coalgebra is a family of algebras $A=\{A_α\}_{α\in π}$, ($π$ is a discrete group) equipped with a family of homomorphisms $Δ=\{Δ_{α,β}:A_{αβ}\longrightarrow M(A_α\otimes A_β)\}_{α,β\in π}$ which is called a comultiplication under some conditions, …
Given an action of a finite group G on a fusion category C we give a criterion for the category of G-equivariant objects in C to be group-theoretical, i.e., to be categorically Morita equivalent to a category of group-graded vector spaces. We use this criterion to answer affirmatively the question about existence of non group-theoretical semisimple Hopf algebras asked by P. Etingof, V. Ostrik, and the author in math/0203060. Namely, we show that certain Z/2Z-equivariantizations of fusion categories constructed by D. Tambara and S. Yamagami are equivalent to representation categories of non gro…
We show that certain twisting deformations of a family of supersolvable groups are simple as Hopf algebras. These groups are direct products of two generalized dihedral groups. Examples of this construction arise in dimensions 60 and p^2q^2, for prime numbers p, q with q dividing p-1. We also show that certain twisting deformation of the symmetric group is simple as a Hopf algebra. On the other hand, we prove that every twisting deformation of a nilpotent group is semisolvable. We conclude that the notions of simplicity and (semi)solvability of a semisimple Hopf algebra are not determined by i…
All -1-type pointed Hopf algebras and central quantum linear spaces with Weyl groups of exceptional type are found. It is proved that every non -1-type pointed Hopf algebra with real $G(H)$ is infinite dimensional and every central quantum linear space over finite group is finite dimensional. It is proved that except a few cases Nichols algebras of reducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules over Weyl groups of exceptional type are infinite dimensional.
We show that every finite-dimensional complex pointed Hopf algebra with group of group-likes isomorphic to a sporadic group is a group algebra, except for the Fischer group Fi22, the Baby Monster and the Monster. For these three groups, we give a short list of irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules whose Nichols algebra is not known to be finite-dimensional.
We extend the Larson-Sweedler theorem to weak Hopf algebras by proving that a finite dimensional weak bialgebra is a weak Hopf algebra iff it possesses a non-degenerate left integral. We show that the category of modules over a weak Hopf algebra is autonomous monoidal with semisimple unit and invertible modules. We also reveal the connection of invertible modules to left and right grouplike elements in the dual weak Hopf algebra. Defining distinguished left and right grouplike elements we derive the Radford formula for the fourth power of the antipode in a weak Hopf algebra and prove that the …
Let $(H, R)$ be a finite dimensional quasitriangular Hopf algebra over a field $k$, and $_H\mathcal{M}$ the representation category of $H$. In this paper, we study the braided autoequivalences of the Drinfeld center $^H_H\mathcal{YD}$ trivializable on $_H\mathcal{M}$. We establish a group isomorphism between the group of those autoequivalences and the group of quantum commutative bi-Galois objects of the transmutation braided Hopf algebra $_RH$. We then apply this isomorphism to obtain a categorical interpretation of the exact sequence of the equivariant Brauer group $\mathrm{BM}(k, H,R)$ in […
We provide an analog of the Drinfeld quantum double construction in the context of crossed Hopf group coalgebras introduced by Turaev. We prove that, provided the base group is finite, the double of a semisimple crossed Hopf group coalgebra is both modular and unimodular.
This is a survey of general aspects of the theory of braided Hopf algebras with emphasis on a special class of braided graded Hopf algebras named tobas. The interest on tobas arises from problems of classification of pointed Hopf algebras. We discuss tobas from different points of view following ideas of Lusztig, Nichols and Schauenburg. We then concentrate on braided Hopf algebras in the Yetter-Drinfeld category over H, where H is the group algebra of a non abelian finite group. We present some finite dimensional examples arising in an unpublished work by Milinski and Schneider.
We classify finite-dimensional complex pointed Hopf algebra with group of group-like elements isomorphic to A_5. We show that any pointed Hopf algebra with infinitesimal braiding associated with the conjugacy class of $π$ \in $A_n$ is infinite-dimensional if the order of $π$ is odd except for $π=(1 2 3)$ in $A_4$. We also study pointed Hopf algebras over the dihedral groups.
We give a detailed comparison between the notion of a weak Hopf algebra (also called a quantum groupoid by Nikshych and Vainerman), and that of a $\times_R$-bialgebra due to Takeuchi (and also called a bialgebroid or quantum (semi)groupoid by Lu and Xu). A weak bialgebra is the same thing as a $\times_R$-bialgebra in which $R$ is Frobenius-separable. We extend the comparison to cover module and comodule theory, duality, and the question when a bialgebroid should be called a Hopf algebroid.
We construct explicit examples of weak Hopf algebras (actually face algebras in the sense of Hayashi) via vacant double groupoids as explained in \http://arxiv.org/abs/math.QA/0308228. To this end, we first study the Kac exact sequence for matched pairs of groupoids and show that it can be computed via group cohomology. Then we describe explicit examples of finite vacant double groupoids.
We present new Hopf algebras with the dual Chevalley property by determining all semisimple Hopf algebras Morita-equivalent to a group algebra over a finite group, for a list of groups supporting a non-trivial finite-dimensional Nichols algebra.
Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 and let D_m be the dihedral group of order 2m with m= 4t, with t bigger than 2. We classify all finite-dimensional Nichols algebras over D_m and all finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras whose group of group-likes is D_m, by means of the lifting method. Our main result gives an infinite family of non-abelian groups where the classification of finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras is completed. Moreover, it provides for each dihedral group infinitely many non-trivial new examples.
Starting from a Hopf algebra endowed with an action of a group G by Hopf automorphisms, we construct (by a twisted double method) a quasitriangular Hopf G-coalgebra. This method allows us to obtain non-trivial examples of quasitriangular Hopf G-coalgebras for any finite group G and for infinite groups G such as GL(n,K). In particular, we define the graded quantum groups.
We give a presentation in terms of generators and relations of Hopf algebras generated by skew-primitive elements and abelian group of group-like elements with action given via characters. This class of pointed Hopf algebras has shown great importance in the classification theory and can be seen as generalized quantum groups. As a consequence we get an analog presentation of Nichols algebras of diagonal type.
Let k be a field. Let also (F, G) be a matched pair of groups. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on a pair (σ, τ) of 2-cocycles in order that the crossed product algebra and the crossed coproduct coalgebra k^G{}^τ#_σ kF combine into a braided Hopf algebra. We also discuss diagonal realizations of such braided Hopf algebras in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a finite group.
Let $G$ be any group and let $K(G)$ denote the multiplier Hopf algebra of complex functions with finite support in $G$. The product in $K(G)$ is pointwise. The comultiplication on $K(G)$ is defined with values in the multiplier algebra $M(K(G) \otimes K(G))$ by the formula $(Δ(f)) (p,q) = f(pq)$ for all $f \in K(G)$ and $p, q \in G$. In this paper we consider multiplier Hopf algebras $B$ (over $\Bbb C$) such that there is an embedding $I: K(G) \to M(B)$. This embedding is a non-degenerate algebra homomorphism which respects the comultiplication and maps $K(G)$ into the center of $M(B)$. These …
In this paper, we present a general method for constructing finite-dimensional quasi-Hopf algebras from finite abelian groups and braided vector spaces of Cartan type. The study of such quasi-Hopf algebras leads to the classification of finite-dimensional radically graded basic quasi-Hopf algebras over abelian groups with dimensions not divisible by $2,3,5,7$ and associators given by abelian $3$-cocycles. As special cases , the small quasi-quantum groups are introduced and studied. Many new explicit examples of finite-dimensional genuine quasi-Hopf algebras are obtained.
We classify all finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero such that its coradical is isomorphic to the algebra of functions over a dihedral group D_m, with m=4a> 11. We obtain this classification by means of the lifting method, where we use cohomology theory to determine all possible deformations. Our result provides an infinite family of new examples of finite-dimensional copointed Hopf algebras over dihedral groups.
We give a necessary and sufficient PBW basis criterion for Hopf algebras generated by skew-primitive elements and abelian group of group-like elements with action given via characters. This class of pointed Hopf algebras has shown great importance in the classification theory and can be seen as generalized quantum groups. We apply the criterion to classical examples and liftings of Nichols algebras which were determined in arxiv.org:1003.5882.
We introduce a method to construct explicitly multiplicative 2-cocycles for bosonizations of Nichols algebras B(V) over Hopf algebras H. These cocycles arise as liftings of H-invariant linear functionals on V tensor V and give a close formula to deform braided commutator-type relations. Using this construction, we show that all known finite dimensional pointed Hopf algebras over the dihedral groups D_m with m=4t > 11, over the symmetric group S_3 and some families over S_4 are cocycle deformations of bosonizations of Nichols algebras.
Let $G$ be a group and assume that $(A_p)_{p\in G}$ is a family of algebras with identity. We have a {\it Hopf $G$-coalgebra} (in the sense of Turaev) if, for each pair $p,q\in G$, there is given a unital homomorphism $\co_{p,q}:A_{pq}\to A_p \ot A_q$ satisfying certain properties. Consider now the direct sum $A$ of these algebras. It is an algebra, without identity, except when $G$ is a finite group, but the product is non-degenerate. The maps $\co_{p,q}$ can be used to define a coproduct $\co$ on $A$ and the conditions imposed on these maps give that $(A,\co)$ is a multiplier Hopf algebra. I…
We put the known results on the antipode of a usual quasitriangular Hopf algebra into the framework of multiplier Hopf algebras. We illustrate with examples which can not be obtained using classical Hopf Algebras. The focus of the present paper lies on the class of the so-called group cograded multiplier Hopf algebras. By doing so, we bring the results of quasitriangular Hopf group-coalgebras (as introduced by Turaev) to the more general framework of multiplier Hopf algebras.
We show that Turaev's group-coalgebras and Hopf group-coalgebras are coalgebras and Hopf algebras in a symmetric monoidal category, which we call the Turaev category. A similar result holds for group-algebras and Hopf group-algebras. As an application, we give an alternative approach to Virelizier's version of the Fundamental Theorem for Hopf algebras. We introduce Yetter-Drinfeld modules over Hopf group-coalgebras using the center construction.
Let k be any field. We consider the Hopf-Schur group of k, defined as the subgroup of the Brauer group of k consisting of classes that may be represented by homomorphic images of Hopf algebras over k. We show here that twisted group algebras and abelian extensions of k are quotients of cocommutative and commutative Hopf algebras over k, respectively. As a consequence we prove that any tensor product of cyclic algebras over k is a quotient of a Hopf algebra over k, revealing so that the Hopf-Schur group can be much larger than the Schur group of k.
In this paper we construct the Differential calculus on the Hopf Group Coalgebra introduced by Turaev [10]. We proved that the concepts introduced by S.L.Woronowicz in constructing Differential calculus on Hopf Compact Matrix Pseudogroups (Quantum Groups)[7] can be adapted to serve again in our construction.
We calculate all irreducible representations over a subfamily of pointed Hopf algebras with group-likes the dihedral group analyzing the possible decompositions of the restriction to the dihedral group and calculating the Jacobson radical of the Hopf algebra
We introduce the notion of Hopf algebroids, in which neither the total algebras nor the base algebras are required to be commutative. We give a class of Hopf algebroids associated to module algebras of the Drinfeld doubles of Hopf algebras when the $R$-matrices act properly. When this construction is applied to quantum groups, we get examples of quantum groupoids, which are semi-classical limits of Poisson groupoids. The example of quantum $sl(2)$ is worked out in details.
We determine the structure of Hopf algebra extensions of a group algebra by the cyclic group of order 2. We study the corepresentation theory of such Hopf algebras, which provide a generalization, at the Hopf algebra level, of the so called Tambara-Yamagami fusion categories. As a byproduct, we show that every semisimple Hopf algebra of dimension $<36$ is necessarily group-theoretical; thus 36 is the smallest possible dimension where a non group-theoretical example occurs.
Given a group G, we use involutary Hopf G-coalgebras to define a scalar invariant of flat G-bundles over 3-manifolds. When G=1, this invariant equals to the one of 3-manifolds constructed by Kuperberg from involutary Hopf algebras. We give examples which show that this invariant is not trivial.
Let $G$ be a finite group and let $π: G \to G'$ be a surjective group homomorphism. Consider the cocycle deformation $L = H^σ$ of the Hopf algebra $H = k^G$ of $k$-valued linear functions on $G$, with respect to some convolution invertible 2-cocycle $σ$. The (normal) Hopf subalgebra $k^{G'} \subseteq k^G$ corresponds to a Hopf subalgebra $L' \subseteq L$. Our main result is an explicit necessary and sufficient condition for the normality of $L'$ in $L$.
In this paper, we completely determine the group of algebra automorphisms for the two-parameter Hopf algebra ${\check U}_{r,s}^{\geq 0}({\mathfrak sl_{3}})$. As a result, the group of Hopf algebra automorphisms is determined for $\V$ as well. We further characterize all the derivations of the subalgebra $U^{+}_{r,s}({\mathfrak sl_{3})}$, and calculate its first degree Hochschild cohomology group.
We completely describe by generators and relations and classify all Hopf algebras which factorize through the Taft algebra $T_{m^{2}}(q)$ and the group Hopf algebra $K[C_{n}]$: they are $nm^{2}$-dimensional quantum groups $T_{nm^{2}}^ ω(q)$ associated to an $n$-th root of unity $ω$. Furthermore, using Dirichlet's prime number theorem we are able to count the number of isomorphism types of such Hopf algebras. More precisely, if $d = {\rm gcd}(m,ν(n))$ and $\frac{ν(n)}{d} = p_1^{α_1} \cdots p_r^{α_r}$ is the prime decomposition of $\frac{ν(n)}{d}$ then the number of types of Hopf algebras that f…
Every non quasi- -1-type Nichols algebra is infinite dimensional. All quasi- -1-type Nichols algebra over sporadic simple groups ${\rm HS}$ and ${\rm Co3}$ are found.
We describe all finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras whose infinitesimal braiding is a fixed Yetter-Drinfeld module decomposed as the sum of two simple objects: a point and the one of transpositions of the symmetric group in three letters. We give a presentation by generators and relations of the corresponding Nichols algebra and show that Andruskiewitsch-Schneider Conjecture holds for this kind of pointed Hopf algebras.
The nonsemisimple quantum Cayley-Klein groups $ Fun(SU_{q}(2;\bf j}) $ are realized as Hopf algebra of the noncommutative functions with the dual (or Study) variables. The {\it dual} quantum algebras $ su_q(2;{\bf j}) $ are constructed and their isomorphisms with the corresponding quantum orthogonal algebras $ so_q(3;{\bf j}) $ are established. The possible couplings of the Cayley-Klein and Hopf structures are considered.
The search for elliptic quantum groups leads to a modified quantum Yang-Baxter relation and to a special class of quasi-triangular quasi Hopf algebras. This paper calculates deformations of standard quantum groups (with or without spectral parameter) in the category of quasi-Hopf algebras. An earlier investigation of the deformations of quantum groups, in the category of Hopf algebras, showed that quantum groups are generically rigid: Hopf algebra deformations exist only under some restrictions on the parameters. In particular, affine Kac-Moody algebras are more rigid than their loop algebra q…
We show that semisimple Hopf algebras having a self-dual faithful irreducible comodule of dimension 2 are always obtained as abelian extensions with quotient Z_2. We prove that nontrivial Hopf algebras arising in this way can be regarded as deformations of binary polyhedral groups and describe its category of representations. We also prove a strengthening of a result of Nichols and Richmond on cosemisimple Hopf algebras with a 2-dimensional irreducible comodule in the finite dimensional context. Finally, we give some applications to the classification of certain classes of semisimple Hopf alge…
The correspondence between Lie algebras, Lie groups, and algebraic groups, on one side and commutative Hopf algebras on the other side are known for a long time by works of Hochschild-Mostow and others. We extend this correspondence by associating a noncommutative noncocommutative Hopf algebra to any matched pair of Lie algebras, Lie groups, and affine algebraic groups. We canonically associate a modular pair in involution to any of these Hopf algebras. More precisely, to any locally finite representation of a matched pair object as above we associate a SAYD module to the corresponding Hopf al…
We extend the notion of Poisson-Lie groups and Lie bialgebras from Poisson to g-quasi-Poisson geometry and provide a quantization to braided Hopf algebras in the corresponding Drinfeld category. The basic examples of these g-quasi-Poisson Lie groups are nilpotent radicals of parabolic subgroups. We also provide examples of moment maps in this new context coming from moduli spaces of flat connections on surfaces.
