This paper gives some further details of proofs of some theorems related to the quantum dynamical Yang-Baxter equation. This mainly expands proofs given in "Lectures on the dynamical Yang-Baxter equation" by P. Etingof and O. Schiffmann, math.QA/9908064. This concerns the intertwining operator, the fusion matrix, the exchange matrix and the difference operators. The last part expands proofs given in "Traces of intertwiners for quantum groups and difference equations, I" by P. Etingof and A. Varchenko, math.QA/9907181. This concerns the dual Macdonald-Ruijsenaars equations. This paper does not claim originality, priority or completeness. It is meant as a service to whoever may take profit of it.
It is shown that a Yang-Baxter system can be constructed from any entwining structure. It is also shown that, conversely, Yang-Baxter systems of certain type lead to entwining structures. Examples of Yang-Baxter systems associated to entwining structures are given, and a Yang-Baxter operator of Hecke type is defined for any bijective entwining map.
Yang-Baxter operators from algebra structures appeared for the first time in [16], [17] and [8]. Later, Yang-Baxter systems from entwining structures were constructed in [5]. In this paper we show that an algebra factorisation can be constructed from a Yang-Baxter system.
We introduce the concept of {sigma, tau}-Rota-Baxter operator, as a twisted version of a Rota-Baxter operator of weight zero. We show how to obtain a certain {sigma, tau}-Rota-Baxter operator from a solution of the associative (Bi)Hom-Yang-Baxter equation, and, in a compatible way, a Hom-pre-Lie algebra from an infinitesimal Hom-bialgebra.
A dynamical Yang-Baxter map, introduced by Shibukawa, is a solution of the set-theoretical analogue of the dynamical Yang-Baxter equation. In this paper, we initiate a quiver-theoretical approach for the study of dynamical Yang-Baxter maps. Our key observation is that the category of dynamical sets over a set $Λ$, introduced by Shibukawa to establish a categorical framework to deal with dynamical Yang-Baxter maps, can be embedded into the category of quivers with vertices $Λ$. An explicit quantization is given of certain skew-symmetric solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter, yielding a family of $R$-matrices which generalize to higher dimensions the Jordanian $R$-matrices. Three different approaches to their construction are given: as twists of degenerations of the Shibukawa-Ueno Yang-Baxter operators on meromorphic functions; as boundary solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation; via a vertex-IRF transformation from solutions to the dynamical Yang-Baxter equation.
Generalized Yang-Baxter matrices sometimes give rise to braid group representations. We identify the exact images of some qubit representations of the braid groups from generalized Yang-Baxter matrices obtained from anyons in the metaplectic modular categories.
An s-set is an algebraic generalization of the regular s-manifold introduced by Kowalski, one of the generalized symmetric spaces in differential geometry. We prove that suitable s-sets give birth to dynamical Yang-Baxter maps, set-theoretic solutions to a version of the quantum dynamical Yang-Baxter equation. As an application, Hopf algebroids and rigid tensor categories are constructed by means of these dynamical Yang-Baxter maps.
It is shown that for a certain class of Yang-Baxter maps (or set-theoretical solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation) the Lax representation can be derived straight from the map itself. A similar phenomenon for 3D consistent equations on quad-graphs has been recently discovered by A. Bobenko and one of the authors, and by F. Nijhoff.
Sufficient conditions for an invertible two-tensor $F$ to relate two solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation via the transformation $R\to F^{-1}_{21} R F$ are formulated. Those conditions include relations arising from twisting of certain quasitriangular bialgebras.
In this paper, the relations between the Yang-Baxter equation and affine actions are explored in detail. In particular, we classify solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations in two ways: (i) by their associated affine actions of their structure groups on their derived structure groups, and (ii) by the C*-dynamical systems obtained from their associated affine actions. On the way to our main results, several other useful results are also obtained.
In this paper we present a characterization of finite simple involutive non-degenerate set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation by means of left braces and we provide some significant examples.
Notions of an (H, X)-bialgebroid and of its dynamical representation are proposed. The dynamical representations of each (H, X)-bialgebroid form a tensor category. Every dynamical Yang-Baxter map R(lambda) satisfying suitable conditions, a generalization of the set-theoretical solution to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation, gives birth to an (H, X)-bialgebroid A_R. The categories of L-operators for R(lambda) and of dynamical representations of A_R are isomorphic as tensor categories.
We investigate a class of non-involutive solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation which generalize self-distributive (derived) solutions. In particular, we study generalized multipermutation solutions in this class. We show that the Yang-Baxter (permutation) groups of such solutions are nilpotent. We formulate the results in the language of biracks.
We show that for each semi-Riemannian locally symmetric space the curvature tensor gives rise to a rational solution $r$ of the classical Yang-Baxter equation with spectral parameter. For several Riemannian globally symmetric spaces $M$ such as real, complex and quaternionic Grassmann manifolds we explicitly compute solutions $R$ of the quantum Yang Baxter equations (represented in the tangent spaces of $M$) which generalize the quantum $R$-matrix found by Zamolodchikov and Zamolodchikov in 1979.

Solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation - an important equation in mathematics and physics - and their afforded braid group representations have applications in fields such as knot theory, statistical mechanics, and, most recently, quantum information science. Yang-Baxter bialgebras, as previously introduced by the authors, are shown to arise from a double crossproduct construction applied to the bialgebra R T T = T T R, E T = T E R, Δ(T) = T \hat{\otimes} T, Δ(E) = E \hat{\otimes} T + 1 \hat{\otimes} E and its skew dual, with R being a numerical matrix solution of the Yang-Baxter equation. It is further shown that a set of relations generalizing q-Serre ones in the Drinfeld-Jimbo algebras U_q(g) can be naturally imposed on Yang-Baxter algebras from the requirement of non-degeneracy of the pairing.
We develop a method to construct all the indecomposable involutive set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation with a prime-power number of elements and cyclic permutation group. Moreover, we give a complete classification of the indecomposable ones having abelian permutation group and cardinality $pq$ (where $p$ and $q$ are prime numbers not necessarily distinct).
We introduce triples of associative algebras as a tool for building solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. It turns out that the class of R-matrices thus obtained is related to a Hecke-like condition, which is formulated for associative algebras with symmetric cyclic inner product. R-matrices for a subclass of the $A_n$-type Belavin-Drinfel'd triples are derived in this way.
We develop a theory of non-unitary set-theoretical solutions to the Quantum Yang-Baxter equation. Our results generalize those obtained by Etingof, Schedler and the author. We remark that some of our constructions are similar to constructions obtained by Lu, Yan and Zhu.
For any algebra two families of coloured Yang-Baxter operators are constructed, thus producing solutions to the two-parameter quantum Yang-Baxter equation. An open problem about a system of functional equations is stated. The matrix forms of these operators for two and three dimensional algebras are computed. A FRT bialgebra for one of these families is presented. Solutions for the one-parameter quantum Yang-Baxter equation are derived and a Yang-Baxter system constructed.

In this paper a class of new quantum groups is presented: deformed Yangians. They arise from rational solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation of the form $c_2 /u + const$ . The universal quantum $R$-matrix for a deformed Yangian is described. Its image in finite-dimensional representaions of the Yangian gives new matrix rational solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation (YBE).

We extend the Yang-Baxter cocycle invariants for virtual knots by augmenting Yang-Baxter 2-cocycles with cocycles from a cohomology theory associated to a virtual biquandle structure. These invariants coincide with the classical Yang-Baxter cocycle invariants for classical knots but provide extra information about virtual knots and links. In particular, they provide a method for detecting non-classicality of virtual knots and links.
The hierarchy of commuting maps related to a set-theoretical solution of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation (Yang-Baxter map) is introduced. They can be considered as dynamical analogues of the monodromy and/or transfer-matrices. The general scheme of producing Yang-Baxter maps based on matrix factorisation is discussed in the context of the integrability problem for the corresponding dynamical systems. In this paper, we initiate the study of the interplay between $k$-graphs and the Yang-Baxter equation. For this, we provide two very different perspectives. One one hand, we show that the set of all set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation is a special class of single-vertex $k$-graphs. As a consequence, we construct an infinite family of large solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation from an arbitrarily given one. We consider the modified (or twisted) Yang-Baxter equations for the $SL_{q}(N)$ groups and $SL_{q}(N|M)$ supergroups. The general solutions for these equations are presented in the case of the linear quantum (super)groups. We investigate certain bases of Hecke algebras defined by means of the Yang-Baxter equation, which we call Yang-Baxter bases. These bases are essentially self-adjoint with respect to a canonical bilinear form. In the case of the degenerate Hecke algebra, we identify the coefficients in the expansion of the Yang-Baxter basis on the usual basis of the algebra with specializations of double Schubert polynomials. We also describe the expansions associated to other specializations of the generic Hecke algebra.
In this note, we consider the problem of constructing knot invariants from Yang-Baxter operators associated to (unitary associative) algebra structures. We first compute the enhancements of these operators. Then, we conclude that Turaev's procedure to construct knot invariants, as modified by Murakami, invariably produces from those enhanced Yang-Baxter operators the Alexander polynomial.
A general functional definition of the infinite dimensional quantum $R$-matrix satisfying the Yang-Baxter equation is given. A procedure for the extracting a finite dimensional $R$-matrix from the general definition is demonstrated in a particular case when the group $SU(2)$ takes place.
Enhanced Yang-Baxter operators give rise to invariants of oriented links. We expand the enhancing method to generalized Yang-Baxter operators. At present two examples of generalized Yang-Baxter operators are known and recently three types of variations for one of these were discovered. We present the definition of enhanced generalized YB-operators and show that all known examples of generalized YB-operators can be enhanced to give corresponding invariants of oriented links. A connection between the Yang-Baxter relation for maps and the multi-dimensional consistency property of integrable equations on quad-graphs is investigated. The approach is based on the symmetry analysis of the corresponding equations. It is shown that the Yang-Baxter variables can be chosen as invariants of the multi-parameter symmetry groups of the equations. We use the classification results by Adler, Bobenko and Suris to demonstrate this method. Some new examples of Yang-Baxter maps are derived in this way from multi-field integrable equations.
By means of left quasigroups L=(L, .) and ternary systems, we construct dynamical Yang-Baxter maps associated with L, L, and (.) satisfying an invariance condition that the binary operation (.) of the left quasigroup L defines. Conversely, this construction characterize such dynamical Yang-Baxter maps. The unitary condition of the dynamical Yang-Baxter map is discussed. Moreover, we establish a correspondence between two dynamical Yang-Baxter maps constructed in this paper. This correspondence produces a version of the vertex-IRF correspondence.
We show how the theory of Poisson Lie groups can be used to establish the Poisson properties of the Yang-Baxter maps and related transfer dynamics. As an example we present the Hamiltonian structure for the matrix KdV soliton interaction.
In this paper we introduce the notion of a geometric associative r-matrix attached to a genus one fibration with a section and irreducible fibres. It allows us to study degenerations of solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation using the approach of Polishchuk. We also calculate certain solutions of the classical, quantum and associative Yang-Baxter equations obtained from moduli spaces of (semi-)stable vector bundles on Weierstrass cubic curves.
We establish a correspondence between the invariant subsets of a non-degenerate symmetric set-theoretical solution of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation and the parabolic subgroups of its structure group, equipped with its canonical Garside structure. Moreover, we introduce the notion of a foldable solution, which extends the one of a decomposable solution.
We have new solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation, from which we have constructed new link invariants containing more than two arbitrary parameters. This may be regarded as a generalization of the Jones' polynomial. We have also found another simpler invariant which discriminates only the linking structure of knots with each other, but not details of individual knot.
We study the Yang-Baxter equation for the $R$-matrices of the six-vertex model. We analyze the solutions and give new parametrizations of the Yang-Baxter equation. In particular, we find the maximal commutative families of parametrized solutions which generalize the $R$-matrices from the affine quantum (super)-groups. We prove that a finite non-degenerate involutive set-theoretic solution (X,r) of the Yang-Baxter equation is a multipermutation solution if and only if its structure group G(X,r) admits a left ordering or equivalently it is poly-(infinite cyclic).
We develop the approach of Faddeev, Reshetikhin, Takhtajan [1] and of Majid [2] that enables one to associate a quasitriangular Hopf algebra to every regular invertible constant solution of the quantum Yang-Baxter equations. We show that such a Hopf algebra is actually a quantum double.
